Video files shown as Audio files ? CS4

Ok so i have spent a day filming a short film on my Panasonic HDC-TM10, the files save as .MTS (AVCHD)
I copied all the files from my camera to my HDD..
All the files play fine on Windows Media Player, though some open a bit slower to start, then play fine and normal (remember i said this)..
I import all the .MTS files into Premiere Pro CS4, and out of random about half of the files are how they should be, play fine, edit fine.
BUT some other random files ( one of a shot of an actor opening a door, the others of a television turned on) appear and play as audio files in the group of my clips (they have audio icons, the other working ones have the film icon).. it seems completely random to me ? why these shots and all the rest are fine, i used no different settings on the camera all are equal..
Out of my own knowledge i would thought its a file codec issue? as i tried changing the file extensions to .mpg and windows gave each file a notepad XML of some random adobe tech info, the files that appear in premiere pro as audio files only had audio info compaired to the ones that worked fine had video info aswell (such as FPS and resolution info)..
So i dont get what the hecks going on here, as i said, all files play fine in windows media player (with the slight beginning load of the weird files which then play as normal..) so why are these certain shots recognised as audio files in premiere pro ?
I am sure there is some simple solution to this, so any help much appreciated, Thankyou.

IVE FOUND THE SOLUTION !!!!!!!!
OK after about 10 hours of testing and tweaking and frustration here i am proud to say..
To all Panasonic AVCHD camera users, that have strange file issues, that do not work in certain programs..
Turn the setting 'Digital Cinema Colour' [OFF] when advancing the zoom in shots.
-Digital Cinema Colour is OK to use if on x1 zoom (no zooming in used) but if any zooming optical or digital turn it OFF.
What i think is the problem here is this digital cinema colour interfearing with video codec somehow ?
It says on my camera for the info of digital cinema colour..
"Record motion pictures with more vivid colours, using x.v.colour(trade mark sony) technology." < AND THIS IS A PANASONIC CAMERA ?!?
NOW, x.v.colour is apparently only compatible on certain televisions and cameras for "viewing"
I on to something here.. I have identified a major flaw by panasonic, that zoomed shots on DCC get corrupted..
To back up my testing i repeatedly filmed sequences off shots i with DCC on or off, i wrote down a sequence to shoot in that went..
[ON],[OFF,][ON],[OFF],[OFF],[ON,[OFF],[ON,
..I used planned random sequences to crack coincidences.
The results were not a coincidence, the files were imported, and the shots with Digital Cinema Colour [ON] were imported as audio files..
So to conclude this, thankyou very much to all your support, I have found usefull programs you have given me i will use onwards, thankyou.

I understand the confusion. Those tracks are royalty free to the owner of the tracks, yes. The terms of use of the iTunes Store still state, though, that all purchases are for your own personal use and cannot be used commercially:
    USAGE RULES
    1. You shall be authorized to use iTunes Products only for personal, noncommercial use.
They're probably fine for presentations in a class or to a group at your company, but you probably could not post the presentation or a video using these tracks on a public site. I'm no lawyer, though, to legally define what would and would not constitute "noncommercial". It's probably best to just buy your tracks directly from one of these sites of royalty-free music. Then the use license should be completely clear.

  • HT201066 How can I split a long recording audio file into multiple audio files?

    Hi,
How can I split a long recording audio file into multiple audio files?
With Windows I was using Nero software, which is not available for Mac. Is there any similar app for free for Mac?
    Thanks!

    Hello ingiorgio
You can import the track into GarageBand and then split the tracks there. Once that it is done you can highlight the ruler section and then share the song to iTunes to get them separated out.

  • .avi files changed to audio files only

I do not have Quick Time on my PC asit is 64 bit and QT does not seem to work. I copied a number of beta tapes using PE Pro on a PC that had QT. The file names all showed the QT icon along with the name and .avi. I tried several other video programs with no luck before I go PR Pro which will directly open .avi files. No when I try and import one of these files it appears in th eproject panel as a audio file even thoogh the ID is still.avi. How do I change thes files back to video files?

Depending on what is inside of the AVI "wrapper," you might not need QT Player, but if its icon is showing, I would puzzle over that. If you would look over this ARTICLE, and report on the CODEC inside the AVI wrapper, that will likely tell the story.
    Good luck,

  • How do make sure the only audio files in my "Audio Files" folder are what are currently used in my project?

I noticed my hard drive space was getting suspiciously low...
After doing a little digging I realized that every single audio file (even the ones i have deleted segments for in my projects' arrange windows) are being saved in every one of my projects' "Audio Files" folders.
One 4 minute song (comprised of 3 guitars, 1 bass, Midi drums, and a syth) has a cooresponding "Audio Files" folder containing over 1,600 Wav files and is consuming 3.0 + Gigs of hard drive space FROM THAT SONG ALONE!
It seems as if every take i have ever recorded (even If it is no longer represented in my projects's arrange windows) remains saved in these "Audio Files" folders.
Is there a setting/method to ensure what STAYS on my hard drive is only what is being used in the projects? There seems to be no logical reason for keeping every mistake that is otherwise deleted in the overall projects.
there must be... because hand-weeding out every file it too daunting a task to be feasible.....
    THANKS!

    Hi
When you delete a recorded region from the Arrange, Logic gives you an option to 'delete' or 'keep' the underlying audio file. You must've chosen to keep, or you have only been deleting regions which only refer to part of the file, so the whole audio file is still being 'used'.
One method of cleaning up is to go to the Audio Bin, choose Edit:Select Unused, and then Delete.
If you (really) want to tidy up further, you could use the Optimise Files function Audio Bin:Audio Files (but I'd suggest that you read up on that function in the manual to fully understand what it will do).

  • Turn a MIDI file into a audio File?

I am having some problems turning a midi file into an audio sample file. Can some one walk me through this. I'm sure I'm doing it right but the result is not!

OK, a little groundwork first. The one thing MIDI isn't is anything to do with sound! Sounds like a bold statement but I want to make that clear just in case.
MIDI controls things like external synths and VST plug-ins which are what make the sounds.
So, in order to convert MIDI to audio you need something to play the MIDI file. Logic of course has plenty of great built-in synths which you can use if you don't have external hardware.
Simply associate a Logic synth with each MIDI channel and then conduct a 'Bounce'. The resulting file is a recording of the synth sounds your MIDI file was controlling.
I apologise if that lot sounds a bit patronising but I have no idea what level you are at. Either way I hope it helps.

  • MPEG-4 video's turned into audio files

I installed a phrasebook from coolgorilla, and after that all but 4 of my video's weren't in the video section anymore, but they were all on my ipod and they were shown in iTunes as MPEG-4 files, however the video options in the settings weren't there, is there any way to get them to go back to video's?

I am using the latest version of itunes as well.
Let me make my problem a little clearer. The files are no longer on my ipod under the menu heading "Video" they have moved to "Music".When I try to play one of the moved files on my ipod it plays it as an audio track. I always keep my video settings as ask but the ipod isn't even recognizing these files as video files anymore.
When I try and play the file in itunes it plays properly . I should mention that the little TV icon that used to be next to the file to show that it is a video file has disappeared.
In my tinkering around I am thinking this is an itunes bug that for some reason my itunes stopped tagging these files as video files ...Gonna try reinstalling itunes.I will update if I find a fix.

  • All my videos show up as audio files now- please help

Hi- Sorry if this has been answered before, but I went back 50 pages in the forum looking for an answer and didn't find one. Here's what happened: my iPod was connected to a PC with an older non-video version of iTunes. After that, my videos didn't register as video on the iPod. I can still play them from iTunes, but I can't see them on my iPod and they are not in the 'Videos' folder. It just plays the audio like it's a song, and they are all listed under 'Songs'. Is there any way to make the iPod recognize that they are videos? It's not really a huge problem for me, I just reloaded them, but the same thing happened to my friend after she went to Mexico, so she can't just reload them like I did. Does anybody here know how to fix this?

When I look at the file's info, they say O kb for size.
I downloaded the PDF; the file size is 14 KB (13,441 bytes), and I have no problem seeing its contents:
I don't know why you are unable to download the file, but it's not caused by Adobe Reader; it's either your Internet connection, or your browser.

  • Make video in sync with audio file

Trying to make video clips to sync up with stereo music track of a completed/mastered song. How can I record silent vid that is synced up with imported song file? I'm sure I've just missed something but I can't find the answer. Appreciate any assistance. Peace

Do you mean that you want to silence the recorded audio from the video clip so that just the music you have added to an audio track will be playing? Or am I missing what you want?
You can uncheck the box at the end of your movie's video track--far right--that will silence all sound from the videos.
Or you can select 'View>Show clip volume' and click on the volume line of your video clip. Drag the line down to the bottom of the video clip to have no sound on a portion of the video. You can drag the volume around to get it precisely where you want it.

Audio Hijack would do it. It is not free software but well worth the expense. I have used it to record radio programs, movie audio only, and a ton of other things.

  • Video episodes shown as audio on iTunes

    Hello!
I use feedburner and in my feed are listed both audio and video media files.
I've just published few episodes so far and all of them are video. The funny thing is that on iTunes not all of them are listed as video episodes.
This is the iTunes url http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=263437210
In future I will probably publish some 'only audio' episodes, but when the video is present I would like it to be shown on iTunes as video episode.
So, how can I 'refresh/update' the iTunes page to see all the video episodes? And how do I have to move in future when I will publish new episodes?
    Thank you for the support!
    Andrea

Just looked at the source of your podcast feed file at http://feeds.feedburner.com/VMC
A podcast can have one and only one enclosure for each item. You've got 10 or more enclosures for some items, of both audio and video files in various formats. I guess iTunes is taking the first enclosure (or the first it can play) which can be either audio or video depending on the item.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to provide different formats for your listeners, but the way to do this is through separate feeds. That way if the listener wants only mp3 audio or m4v video, they subscribe to the feed that provides just the format they want.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • "File Not Found" Audio Files Missing in GarageBand '08

    Hello,
A search of Google and the Apple Discussions has some variations on this theme and one specific to GarageBand '09, but what about '08?
For some reason, when I open files that were working perfectly fine not too long ago now suddenly can't find the loops. I have NOT upgraded to GB '09, so why is it doing this in '08 and what do I do to fix it?
Thank you for any and all help.

I don't know how that would be possible. I am only able to have one project open at a time.
I have, however, been using certain files as templates. So rather than start from scratch, I'll do a "save as" and then use the tracks I need while deleting the ones I don't.
    Does that answer your question?

  • Extracting mono files from Multitimbral audio file

    Hi all!
I'm trying to find a way to import a 64-channel multitimbral audiofile into Logic. I need to find a way to extract the 64 channels as separate mono files. Logic can import the file but treats it only as a surround file. Any ideas on how to handle this?
    Best regards,
    Ginge

Hi Data Stream. Pyramix makes files like these and treats them as seperate channels once imported into Pyramix. I might want to ask the Pyramix engineer to export as OMF or AAF, but first I'd like to ascertain there is no way I can split this file myself.
The closest I've come is actually with the QuickTime Player 7 which allows me to rearrange the outputorder of all 64 channels but, it seems, not extract them.
I know Peak was good for splitting files earlier but I haven't tried it in years. Anyone know if it would be able to do this job?

  • Audio files not embedding with .avi files in CS4

I am working on a project in Premiere Pro CS4. I successfully captured with firewire a number of clips and the audio embedded with the clip ( one .avi file shows up in explorer under the project. When I went back into the project, first, there was no audio captured at all and I did'nt notice until I had captured half of the clips (45 minutes). I don't know what happened there. Now, the audio is attached to the .avi file, but is not embedded like the previous captured files.   Example First capture: File Name : Harlem 01.avi  audio is embedded   2nd Capture  Guilford 01.avi  and Guilford 01. Stereo 1.wav
Why aren't the .avi files and the audio files embedded and combined as one file anymore?
    Thanks for any help.

    >Matrox card
The comment I have often seen is to the effect that "a Matrox card makes a good door stop"
For a Firewire transfer you don't need any "card" at all, only a Firewire port... usually on the motherboard
That said... and you mentioning switching back and forth between different Matrox modes... I would guess that, yes, you selected a wrong option
But, since I don't use Matrox, I have no idea what setting could be wrong (I do use a Pinnacle Dv500 via dual boot with WinXP to digitize some old VHS tapes before they stop playing... but once I had settings that worked to create AVI files that ARE Audio Video Interleave with everything in one file, I have never changed any of the Dv500 settings)

  • Premiere Pro CC won't import ANY audio file, be it an mp3 or part of an mp4 video (or other formats)

Any audio or video file I drop in to premiere will almost immediately pop up with the window
    Audio Conforming Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
When I check the error/event log (little red X in the bottom corner) that window says:
"11/21/14 09:47:28  A disk error occurred while attempting to access the following files:
    \\ipsse01\home$\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Files\filename.mp3 44100.cfa"
(The actual file is on my desktop)
This happens with everything, even the stock audio files Windows comes with in the "Sample Music" folder, I tried those too to no avail.
I'm at a complete loss. I'm new to premiere pro but these are generic file formats so I don't think the issue is with the file. I haven't tried to reinstall because I'd have to go to our one network administrator/IT person (who also is the accountant for the company) so she can enter the admin user name/password in the pop up box, and she's often so busy. I'm trying to avoid bugging her if I don't need to (which unfortunately I tend to still have to do a lot)
    For reference I'm running Win7 Professional 64-bit, 8GB RAM, and an i7-4610M CPU @ 3.00 GHz.

Thanks for responding, but I work for a very small company and since I'm the only one who needs CC, I have the personal version installed.
Also this appears to be a blanket issue with all audio and video file formats, thus not likely a codec issue since the files I've tried so far should be covered by premiere's compatibility, the even play in windows media player with no issue.
Video itself plays fine, but any audio attached to a video, or just plain audio files will not import no matter what I try.
    Sorry my info didn't help.
    Two things to try.
Create a brand new project and test if you can import the problematic files.
If that does not work, change the name of the folder that contains your media files. Then try to import.
    Let us know what happens.
    Thanks,
