Video filter viewing

How can I view video filter changes? F'rinstance if I want to use a cylinder distortion, if I apply the filter, the preview is covered by the filter slider dialog. I want to see the changes to the image as I make them.

Put the clip on the Timeline. Double click it to bring it into the Viewer. Apply the filter there. You should be able to see teh clip in the Canvas. Also, in the Viewer, you can switch between Filter and View settings by clicking the tabs

Yes, but it will be manual labour. Just go through all your clips and remove each instance where you have used it. Maybe it is shown in the timeline in a different color or with diagonal stripes through it, I don't know.

Why is the Video Filter "Shift Fields" Automatically being added to my clips?

In the timeline, I've been noticing that FCP is randomly adding the "Shift Field" video filter to about 75% of all my clips in the timeline.
Is this common?

Applying one video filter to multiple clips

How do I apply just one video filter to multiple clips on a timeline in FCP7? "Copy and paste attributes" does not give me the control to select just one filter to apply, for example there is a color corrector and sharpen filter in the copied clip and all I want to paste is sharpen.

Double click on a clip on the timeline that has the sharpness filter with the settings you want to apply to additional clips.
When that clip has loaded to the viewer, click on the filters tab. You will see a list of all the filters you have applied.
Now, on the timeline, select all the clips you want to apply that filter to (you can hold down the Command key while clicking on the clips to select multiple clips).
Once the destination clips are selected, move your cursor to the Viewer window Filters tab display, and click down on the Sharpness filter and drag it to any one of the selected clips on the timeline.
It will be applied to all clips.

Apply video filter to many clips at once?

I have a 'sub' sequence that I have embedded into my main sequence and I want to apply a video filter mask (feathered oval) to make the sequence look like its projected from an old film projector. I don't want to apply the filter to each individual clip in my sub sequence because there are many. What is the best approach to doing this? thanks!

OK - so I used the word 'embedded' and I think I meant 'nested' - so how exactly do I apply the effect to the nested sequence? I tried and can't seem to make it work - e.g. when I double click on the sequence to open it in the viewer, it opens the nested sequence as its own sequence instead - I can't open it in the viewer to apply the filter.

Video Filter Issue

Hey guys, I'm trying to use the video filters but when I adjust them, the video stays the same. For example, I'll drag the "Light Rays" filter down to my video & the video will change. But once I adjust the Glow for ex., nothing happens. How do I adjust the filters & see the changes instantaneously in real time. Thanks in advance.

DH, I will first click & drag the "Light Rays" Video Filter to the video on V1 for example. Then I doubled clicked on "Light Rays" so I will see "Light Rays" parameters in the "Viewer." Then I will move the sliders to adjust the parameters but nothing happens. It will only change if I click & drag the "Light Rays" filter onto the video. I would like to be able to see the adjustments in real time when I move the sliders. Is this possible? I also noticed nothing happens when I adjust the "Color Corrector" wheels or "Basic 3D" sliders.

Video Filter does not work.

I have been using Final Cut Pro 4 for a while and it worked fine before. But recently, any function of Video Filter does not work. I apply them to the clip, but the image does not show any changes on Canvas.
Is the software's problem?

For a reason unknown to me, FCP's preference files (there's 3 of them) will sometimes become corrupted and need to be trashed. Usually the symptoms are things just not working as they did earlier, or weird issues like the 3 Way Color Corrector looks different than before ... stuff like that.
FCP Rescue is a freeware app (yes, you'll need to download it) that will create a backup set of preferences, thereby retaining all of your settings. Then when (not IF, but when) FCP's preferences become corrupted, you can run FCP Rescue to replace the bad set with a fresh new set.
Otherwise you can delete the files yourself (make sure FCP isn't open at the time) and the next time you launch FCP, it will revert back to the factory settings.

No video in Viewer/Canvas, only audio

I use Final Cut Pro X since Day One and I survived bugs and endless beachballs on my 2011 17' Macbook Pro.
A week ago FCPX stopped playing any video in viewer/canvas while scrubbing. Only audio is audible. Impossible previewing a single clip or playing the timeline. The beachball is immediate and the program hangs and need forced exit. This happens whatever the video source is: only audio plays. Same reinstalling from scratch 10.0.4. Trashing preferences and using quickfix from Digitalrebellion didin't help.
A momentary solution has been creating a new administrator user and working from there, with many limitation and commodities I have "on the other side".
I can't identify anything particular that might have caused this! Quicktime runs fine and so do Final Cut Pro 7, iMovie and all the video compartement.
I searchead the web but nobody seems to have follen in this situation.

Session Variable in filter view error

Hello,
My prompt is defaulted to current 12Weeks. I used session variable in the prompt to capture 12 Weeks (Current Week and Current+12).
so the default value is @{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.PERIOD_STDATE']} where PERIOD_STDATE is my session varible.
I am using a filter view to display the filters being applied.
When the user opens a tab, the filter view is throwing error
***The syntax of the expression to be evaluated is invalid.***
***Expression: @{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.PERIOD_STDATE']}***
My report is running fine. I just have the date column as prompted in my report request.
When the user hits go button on the prompt then the filter view comes up just fine.
What is that I am doing wrong? Why does the filter view gives result after hitting GO button?

Hi,
1. Set the default using logical SQL. Select <presentation table>.<presentation column> from <subject area> where <presentation table>.<presentationation column> =valueof(NQ_SESSION.<session variable>)
2. You dont have to write the exact syntax for entering the session variable in the default values. You just need to use the session variable name after selecting the session variable type in the drop down.

How to change the display name in the filter view

Hi,
I have one column "*Year*" and type in case when 1=2 then "product_d"."name" else "calendar_d"."year" end.
I add a filter view for it. but when I select, like 2010, it will display"case when 1=2 then "product_d"."name" else "calendar_d"."year" end" is equal to 2010.
So how can I change it to "Year is equal to 2010"?
Any one have any idea about this?

You will find they are different.
BASED ON THAT you have two table product_d and calendar_d AND they are related by one Fact table.
THEN When you type in

AND
"calendar_d"."year",
IT WILL SHOW U TWO different RESULTS.
I need to show year which its related product is not null. but I cannot use SHOW->SQL RESULTS->TYPE SOME "WHERE..." because I also need to use "constrain"..
That why I choose to use a case when function..
So, do you have any idea about this?

AnneWhy not use two filters in your request? Have something like this:
product_d.name IS NOT NULL
AND
calendar.year IS PROMPTED?
...instead of using a CASE statement? This way you can have both filters show the way they should in a meaningful way.

Format of Filter view

How to change format of filter view in answers? How to remove border line of filter? I have looked in views.css and format of filter is set as

Changing the ini files should change the date format. Have you amended the correct instances of the date format? In dbFeatures there is one for every ODBC connection.
For example in my DBFeatures.INI
[ DATA_SOURCE_FEATURE = ODBC_300 ]
DATE_FORMAT = 'dd-mm-yyyy' ;
     TIME_FORMAT = 'hh:mi:ss' ;
     DATE_TIME_FORMAT = 'dd-mm-yyyy hh:mi:ss' ;
     IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR = '"';Also a file on the presentation side in OracleBI \web\Config called localedefinitions.xml.
Inside that there appears to be defaults for localisations - maybe it is possible to amend your locale in the Administration settings of the dashboard.
However, I haven't tried this sorry.

How to hide filter view calculations in answers in obiee 11g?

I have a requirement to hide the "CASE WHEN" statements which are there in the filter view while viewing the report in Dashboard. User dont want to see the calculation part in filter view instead they just want to see the selected dashboard prompt value. For e.g
case when (column name1('column value1' IN '@{Presentation_var}' ) > 0 AND "Table name"."column name2"='column value2') or (column name1('column value1' IN '@{Presentation_var}' ) > 0 AND "Table name"."column name2"='column value2') then "table name"."column name" end
or
case when 2 statement
and
Case when 3 statement
or Case when 4 statement
therefore user wants only the bold text value(table name"."column name) to be displayed only not the calculation at front end.
I can think of Narrative view but how to do that exactly? Please help.

try this, It seemed to have worked for me..
Below was my case statement
(CASE WHEN '@{var_brand}' = 'Value1' and "Compl"."RecTypeId" IN (5,8,9) THEN 1
WHEN '@{var_brand}' = 'Value2' and "Compl"."RecTypeId" IN (11,12,13) THEN 1
ELSE 0 END)=1
I used it as a column in my analysis with the following formula
(CASE WHEN '@{var_brand}' = 'Value1' and "Compl"."RecTypeId" IN (5,8,9) THEN 1
WHEN '@{var_brand}' = 'Value2' and "Compl"."RecTypeId" IN (11,12,13) THEN 1
ELSE 0 END)
and I made a change to the name of the column in the analysis using custom column headings and put it as "Brand"
and now put a filter on this column and filtered it for for the value 1
and my filters view now shows the column Name "Brand" instead of the Case Statement..
See if this process works for you..

Reg Filter View in Combined Request OBIEE11g

Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to show the filter view in a combined request. Currently we have achieved the same but putting another request but the issue when the download of the request happens the filter view is not downloaded and it has to be downloaded separately. We are using OBIEE11g(11.1.1.6.9).
Please advise if there is any workaround to achieve this functionality so that download of results and filter view can be achieved in one shot. Thanks.

Not possible to use the filter view in union request.Try creating the filters with filter view as a separate request and add them to the dashboard.

Filter view with session variable does not display value properly.

Hi All,
I have a very unique issue and I am not sure if anyone ran into this before.
I have a prompt in my dashboard and a link to a report. The session variable default the value to the current value (term)
when I click the link to the report I get the following value, on the filter view of the report: Term Code Desc is equal to NQ_SESSION.CSA_Analysis_Term
however if I click the go button in the prompt I get the value: Term Code Desc is equal to 2030 (2011 Spring)
does anyone have a solution to this issue

Can we customize the column name in filter view?

When i select filter view and select an option from the drop down, it shows the name of the column and not the variable set in the prompt.
I want to customize that name so that it does not show the column name,shows the name given by us instead.
Please Help!!!

You can't customize the filter view, play around with the narrative view instead.
