Video flicker on Compaq Mini 311c - 1020EO in Win 8 (32bit)

Hello,
Upgraded my Compaq Mini 311c - 1020EO to Win 8 32bit and all seems to work except VIDEO Flicker intermitantly.
Tried to load Nvidia driver ( 320.00 and 314.22 ) but when I run the installation the drivers cannot id the hardware as being compatible ??
Please help with some ideas !!

Hello PALaz,
I am  surprised you don't have more issues with Windows 8 working correctly on your machine, since it is an older machine.  Have you tried to install the driver in compatibility mode?
Visit HP Support and get the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware you'd like to try.
Download the driver to your desktop (your driver is here)
Allow the extraction to complete but close the installation process when it comes up.
Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder.  You will see your driver listed here.  They usually have a name like "sp56737".  Navigate to this folder.
Within your driver's folder you will see a "setup.exe" file.  Right click this file and select Properties.
Navigate to the "Compatibility" tab.
Click the box that says "Run this program in Compatibility mode for..." and also select Windows 7 from the drop down menu.
Check the box which says "Run this program as administrator" at the bottom
Save these changes and double-click the "setup.exe" to begin the install.
Once the install completes reboot your PC and verify the functionality of the piece of hardware.
Please let me know if this helps.
Good luck!

  • Compaq Mini 311c-1150 - Power Failure

My 311c-1150EV mini has reached 4 years of service me real good.
But, the latest some weeks has giving up to me.
First, the battery was weared off over 60% of its start up duration.
Before managing to order a new battery, the 311c just stopped to boot, by blinking its Power LED three times while pressing the Power Button. Thought the battery has died for sure, a new battery was bought and then it started to boot again. After 4 cycles of charging/ discharging, started to deny a boot again.
Started to check what was wrong. The charger/psu was giving 18.5V stable, but it was my last resort to boot the 311c once again. A new charger/psu was bought, but in vain. The Power LED was still blinking three times and no boot at all.
Other fact is that without the battery inserted, I could not even open the 311c with the charger/psu connected !
The 311c has run out of its warranty. So, if it is a system board failure, then possibly its fix should be more expensive than buying a new one.
    To the point:
Having checked some way found here -power tests etc- I had no other option rathen than post here if anyone having the same problem, managed to overcome it somehow.
    Thanks.

    Hi timiman,
I am sorry we have not resolved your issue. I suggest that you Back Up Files Before Recovering your Computer (Windows 7). I would then try Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7) to restore back to a time when everything was working properly.

  • SSD Comaq mini 311c

    Hello i have a compaq mini 311c
and i have a new ssd form kingston  but the laptop do not recognize the hdd all the time.
sometimes i can install windows and sometimes i get the error no hd.
is there a solution for this problem?
    Gr.Jasper

Many times a laptop overheating is directly related to the cooling of the processor. The main culprit is the fan. The fan sucks in air from the bottom and blows it out the side. It will also suck in hair, dust, and other debris. That stuff often gets trapped by the heat sink and over time builds up in a layer which chokes off the cool air going to the processor making the fan work harder.
    Check this out:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01657439&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
What I recommend is getting some canned air and blowing out the vents in the side and bottom of the laptop. If after doing this you still have problems with over-heating, and your laptop is in warranty, you can take your laptop to a HP Authorized Service Center and ask them to clean the fan and heatsink. You can check your warranty here:
    http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/ewarranty/warrantyResults.do?admit=109447627+1286541891570+28353475
If it is out of warranty, consider searching for the maintenance manual for your specific model, in the manual there are schematics for taking apart the laptop. Cleaning the fan is much easier that removing a motherboard, so don't feel to intimidated by the idea. Also you can remove the heatsink and then remove the thermal grease and apply a new layer which also helps alleviate heat related issues.

  • Microphone not working after upgrading to windows 7 on Compaq Mini 730EA.

My Compaq Mini 730EA came with Wins XP and I have just upgraded to Wins 7 Ultimate 32 bit. My Mic is not working with Windows 7, but it can play sound. When I roll back to Windows XP the mic works, but does not with Wins 7.
Where can I get the appropriate driver for the mic, please. Not driver? Then What should I do?
    Thanks much in anticipation.

Since there isn't a driver to download the only thing you can possible do is delete the windows driver that the notebooks installs for the feature.
This is what it will look like.
Go under Human Interface Devices and delete every USB INPUT DEVICE.
Then restart the notebook and it should install the drivers back.

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Hp (compaq) mini 110c - no boot with Western Digital Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT

I just bougth Western Digital Scorpio Black WD5000BEKT plug in and no boot
I have black screen, HD is alive because i hear is started and the HD led blink in same frequency so looks like Bios cannot read HD firmware to do initialization.
Motherboard version should be 308f if not mistaken, AMI BIOS has not been upgrade yet, actually i saw only one BIOS update which fix some Bluetoth issue.
Could anybody can confirm that disk is running OK on that model ?
Is there any quick workaround ?

No problem maiki83. I am glad you got it running.
I believe however, that the processors are all fixed to the system boards in the Compaq Mini 110c series. Not having your exact model number, I will show you first how to find your exact model number, and then where to find the information (if it exists).
    <How Do I Find My Notebook Model Number>: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00033108
Go to HP's support page and "Enter your product name/number".
    HP Consumer Support:
    http://support.hp.com/
When you are on your products support page go to the 'User Guides' section
Look for the "Maintenance and Service Guide"
In the guide locate the "Removal and replacement procedures" then the "Component replacement procedures"
If there is a "CPU" or "Processor" category then it will have a list of supported CPU's.
If you can only locate "System Board" then the list of boards will show the processor that comes on the boards. The latter will most likely be the case.
    Good luck.

  • Compaq Mini 110c-1001NR Sound Drivers won't install

I am fixing a Compaq Mini 110c-1001NR for a friend. They reinstalled XP on it, so I had to install wireless internet drivers for them. I then realized the sound doesn't work. I downloaded the drivers from HP's website (yes they are the right ones!), but half way through the install, it said it couldn't find any compatible hardware. I don't know what is wrong. That laptop has windows XP on it, so it should be compatible, right?
    Please help asap. Thanks.

    Hi:
First install the chipset driver and reboot.

  • How do I best transfer over 3,000 photos and 125 short videos from my iPad Mini 2 (iOS 8) in "Photos" to my IMac without uploading them to iCloud or any wireless net service (I wish to directly transfer the files via a USB cable, not AirDrop)?

I'm confused as to the procedure of transferring a large amount of photos and videos from my iPad Mini (iOS 8) to my iMac (latest Yosemite OS) without using wifi or Bluetooth or uploading to iCloud - I wish to transfer the files using a simple USB connection alone - I expect I have to use iTunes unless you know of another procedure - if I must use iTunes - can you explain the file transfer procedure? Call HP and order Recovery kit of your Notebook which would have OS and factory shipped software which went with the notebook. You will get recovery kit for a nominal charge of 15$-25$ depending on type of shipping

  • Compaq Mini 110 won't start after cleaning Think Point virus

    Hi
I'm helping my daughter with the following problem with her Compaq mini 110.
After removing the Think Point virus according to advice in different places the mini 110 don't boot after power on. The choice of pressing F10 (BIOS setup) and F9 (boot order) appears. If I don't touch any key at startup it starts accessing the hard disk for a few seconds, according to the hard disk LED and hard disk sound. Then it stops the boot procedure. Somewhere on the HP web site I read that pressing F11 repeatedly during boot would give the opportunity to choose operatings system recovery from the recovery partition. It doesn't respond to F11. Setting boot device priority doesn't seem to be a solution, since there is only one choice, so I can't force it into the recovery. I would appreciate any advice how to proceed. Below I add som additional facts.
Some threads on the forum mentions pressing F6 for recovery funktions, but it doesn't respond. There also ought to be some function on F12, but I can't figure out what. Doesn't respond anyway. Any explanation for F6 or F12?
    Thanks,
    Per
    FACTS:
    Computer model: Compaq Mini 110c-1100SO
OS is Windows XP as supplied with the computer and was never changed.
Hard disc diagnostics in BIOS setup performed without error reports (160 GB, disc type suggests Seagate hard disc)
RAM diagnostics in BIOS setup performed without error reports (1 GB)
Pressing F9 at startup gives no choices apart from the hard disk, no choice for partitions or USB boot.
I have set the delay for the user to press F10 to 5 seconds.
The display/screen works properly during BIOS setup
Power adaptor connected, and charging LED lights constantly (as I expect it to do)
    Power on LED lights constantly
    Wireless network LED lights constantly
Caps lock LED flashes briefly at start up, then gets dark.
When booting stops, background light on display is on, no text or symbols are shown at this state.
BIOS password has never been activated
BIOS Administrator Password has never been activated
Internal Network Adapter Boot never enabled

    Hi,
On the link below is a brief guide ( and the download ) to create a bootable Antivirus disk.  Create this disk on another PC and when done, start the infected PC so that you can open the DVD drive, insert the Antivirus CD you've created and then restart the infected PC to initiate the process.

I took a video on an iPad mini, which was then deleted by accident.  It was not backed up on the Cloud or iTunes.  My understanding is that only a data recovery software will help me retrieve that video...but which one do I trust?  Is there one that does not cost an arm and a leg?  I appreciate any help.

  • Compaq Mini CQ10-101SA Windows XP - Unable to view entire software or webpages in a window

    Hi all!
We have a Compaq Mini CQ10-101SA which is running Windows XP.  We have an issue with the display on certain webpages and software whereby you cannot see the entire page in the window.  While this has been somewhat "inconvenient" when viewing webpages, it has now become a problem as we cannot use an important software package that we have installed.
Attached is a screen shot of the software in question - Hogia Smart Kassa (a point of sale till system).  The bottom third of the page is missing, and you cannot scroll down to see it.  This is a problem as it is where the "pay now" button is!
I have tried different screen resolution settings, DPI settings, and screen appearance settings in the "Display" area of the control pannel but nothing stops this from happening.  Is there a "shrink to fit" button that will show the entire page on the screen in a smaller size?  Can anyone help?!
    Many thanks,
    Ashley

    Good Morning @AshleyElliott ,
It is a fantastic place to find answers and information!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I grasp that your retail software displays to large on the screen.  If there is a way to set a screen setting for a particular program you would need to check with the manufacture for that setting.
In the meantime you can try this as a work around.  Once you have the  pay window launched if you press and hold  the CTRL and press the minus sign it will make the screen smaller.  To enlarge it you would press and hold CTRL and press the + sign.
    I hope this helps.
