Video Flickering

I didn't notice the problem while filming, but after transferring the tape to my computer, I can see that there's flickering in the footage I shot. I think it may be caused by the lighting from the venue.
Is there anyway to fix this, with Final Cut Pro or any other program for that matter? Take a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIkYUnc1L5c (Watch the HD version of it or it won't be that noticeable)

Hmm... if it's a consistent flicker, you could try applying an oscillate behavior to a brightness filter in Motion...

Camtasia Mac Video flickers with Gaussian Blur

i did a couple of screen captures with camtasia mac.I exported my videos as 'uncompressed .mov'files.
In PP i added these files to my pal 720*576 project.I use anti flicker( 0.5) to get rid of the interlace flicker that appears unless i use anti flicker.
Anyway so far so good,when i now put Gaussian Blur on my source, the video flickers on my TV.it only flickers when the effect is on.hmmmmmm
Even if i leave it at its default settings(value=0),it flickers.Whyyyyy???????
Just to clarify,the video does not flicker without GB and only anti flicker on
I need GB to blur out some parts of the video.

Macbook air video flickers full screen Mavericks

After upgrading to Mavericks I notice that the video flickers and the black bar at the top moves up and down when watching videos in full screen ; an example is the Jony Ive iPad air video or an iTunes movie. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I specifically said - "Thats not to say there isnt a single unit with a GPU/ monitor issue."
I have the new Air, thanks for asking. Have had roughly 20+ new 2013 Air thru my hands;...videos play fine on same.
Contact Apple and make an appt. if your specific Air is experiencing an issue.
Your warranty entitles you to fast service and resolution of any issue you make have with your Air notebook.

AMD HD Radeon 6310 - 1080p Video flickering only in browser

Hello All,
I just got my Lenovo Thinkpad 120E with AMD HD Radeon 6310 card. I am able to play youtube videos of 1080p resolution and video files of full HD / Bluray resolutions if I play through VLC or one of those std video players.
But playing 1080p contents in browser (other than youtube) is flickering. Even netflix HD contents are flickering and A/V sync goes off.
Network Bandwidth seems to be fine since I am able to play those contents in same browser (Chrome) in my HP elite (NVIDIA)
Since downloaded videos files are playing fine, I think my device is capable for handling HD videos. Then why browser play is not working.
Please help me to identify the issue. I dont want to return the laptop just for this problem.
Let me know if you need more info on the card to give suggestions.

Perhaps installing these will make a difference, but to answer your question, yes, the AMD E-350 CPU is for netbooks and other small-form-factor, low-power devices. Performance-wise, it competes with Intel's Atom and i3 processors.

Zoom while video recording (bug) - Video flickers back and forth on playback

Using iphone 5s iOS 7.0.2
If i zoom slowly during video recording, when playback the video, during the period i zoomed in or out, it just flickers back and forth (in and out). which ruins all the video.

I just tried it on my iPhone. Same specs. No issues. I'm assuming you're doing playback on your phone?

Video flickering when published live from camera

I am getting flickered image when published from live camera.
Settings done for view of flash player in html page and settings done before publishing in actionscript is as follows:
setting in HTML:
size of flash player object in html page is 240*180
setting in actionscript:
stage size is 216*162
size of video component is 216*162
camera.setMode varies as:- camera.setMode(160,120,6) //////////////in this case there is a flickering
camera.setMode(320,240,8) //////////////in this case there is a flickering
camera.setMode(640,480,2) //////////////in this case there is no flickering.
Now what I have tried to resolve the issue:
1) changed the size in html to 320*240
2) set the stage size to 320*240
3) size of video component to 320*240
I have tried all permutations for the above three scenario but still not got the solution.
I have also tried to make the size of video component as per the camera height and width respectively, with/ without altering the size of stage, still no success.
Please help.

Screen capture video flickers . . .

I have screen capture footage from a client that's a .wmv file:
   1024x768
   15fps
   Square pixels
   Progressive
When I create a DVD from the footage I get occasional flicker.
This isn't just the "thin horizontal lines" issue that I'm well aware
of. When it flickers, the entire screen flickers. And, here's
what I really don't understand - the flicker will start/stop even
when I see no motion on the screen.
I've tried the various flicker removal options and they help a bit,
but also make the text harder to read.
I've tried direct import into Encore and a dynamic link from Premiere.
The flicker happens when the DVD is played on my workstation or
plasma TV.
When the original .wmv file is played on the computer it looks perfect.
Help?

Here is what I have come across as well..
I have created a Photoshop file 1920x1080 (settings in Photoshop) which are the full HDV layout Photoshop has.
I made all of my buttons on different text layers and then inmported all of this into Adobe Encore (first time user)
I then set all of my buttons into a timeline which synced up the audio and video (note:Full HD video shot at 1080p - converted in compressor for blu-ray)
Everythning in preview looks great, everything lines up - im ready to burn.
I burn the project - play it on my 50inch Plasma screen TV - and all of the text is flickering and so is the image slightly. Driving me nuts! The videos play fine and are as clear as day! Its amazing quality but the menu is not!
Heres the catch:
I synced up two videos to the menu and thats all I burned with two menus that were active.
The burn was great and no flickering.
OIt seems when I add more data the DVD menu loses quality and starts flickering. I dont think its a burn speed issue or a drive issue, but a software issue! Anything will help!

When i play the video on premiere pro cs3 timeline the video starts flickering but when i play the original captured file that is playing proper can please help me with this.

Gray background on video "Flickering" behind subject, need to remove

Hello, I exported some video last night in Pro5.5 and came in this morning to find that the gray background behind my subject is "flickering".
I've tried several things but nothing has removed it yet.
Here is the project info:
Shot with a Canon XA10
Editing Mode - AVCHD 1080i anomorphic
29.97 fps
Upper Filed First
Frame blending didn't work, deinterlacing the footage didnt work either.
I don't have maximum bit depth or maximum render quality turned on.
The flicker filter under motion effect didnt work.
Any help please!

Are you certain you have not reversed the field order?
What is the final destination for your exported file?

Toshiba 32TL838: video flickering after fw upgrade in menus, using HDMI input

Hi,
yesterday I upgraded my 32TL838's firmware to version 6.4.0Y.1 / 94.6.27.8 using the network upgrade feature.
After the upgrade I reset the TV to start over with factory settings.
During the quick setup after the reset I noticed a very poor video quality. The whole image flickered, had a ghost effect and looked interlaced. The menus were almost unreadable.
After completing the setup the TV switched to normal TV mode (DTV cable) and at least the tv picture looked quite normal. While cable TV input is selected, I can also open menus like before, they're displayed correctly.
But as soon as I switch to HDMI input, the picture is getting nuts again, just as during the initial setup, including the TV's menu overlays. Sometimes it's getting stable for maybe 30 seconds but then it's crippled again.
Some words about my setup: the TV uses only HDMI input 1 and the cable input, nothing else is connected.
The HDMI input links to an Onkyo TX-SR508 AV receiver that is being fed by a Fantec 3DS4600 media player and BDP-S373 BluRay player.
Because I expect the what-about-your-HDMI-cabling question, I exchanged the HDMI cables but as expected that did not help at all.
At least I seem to be successful in working around the problem when using the Fantec player.
Before I upgraded the firmware I was able to use the player with 1080p/60Hz and the player was setup accordingly.
Now I switched to 1080p/50Hz and the video picture looks okay again. (However I did only a short test and as I said, sometimes_
the picture is okay for a short time.)
Unfortunately my BluRay player has no menu to change the frequency, so watching BluRay or the online services the player offers, is impossible.
So what can I do now? A firmware downgrade (if that's possible) would be a quick temporary workaround I could accept. But in the medium term I expect Toshiba to restore the features they promoted and for which I paid.
(Youtube stopped working with the old firmware and it looks as if 1080p/60Hz doesn't work anymore with the latest firmware.)
Does anybody know a way to downgrade the firmware using an USB key? I already downloaded the previuos release tl838_853886.bin but I don't have a clou how (and if) it can be installed.

I think you mixed simply the PAL and NTCS settings.
Usually all external players provide an option where you could choose between PAL and NTSC.
NTSC standard is the common one for countries in South / North America and Japan,
The PAL is used in Europe and some countries in Asia.
Both PAL and NTCS support 24p (24 frames per second) but most output for PAL and NTSC use interlaced frames which means that:
NTSC (60Hz) supports fps 60i or 30p
PAL (50Hz) generally uses 50i or 25p;
Probably the external player supports PAL settings and its set to 50Hz and therefore its play properly using the 1080/50Hz.

Streaming BBC live news video flickers on my MBP

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on my 2010 13" MacBook Pro and have tried loading live video footage on the bbc news website on both Safari and Firefox. WIthout fail it always flickers -- have tried googling for answers but nothing comes up. How do you stop this?

I've had this same problem. It seems to be an problem with MBPs from that particular year/couple of years, as older and newer versions don't experience the same issue.
I'm not sure what's causing it, but I fixed mine by right clicking the player, going to Settings and deselecting 'enable hardware acceleration'. Refresh the page and try again, making sure the change has been made.
It worked for me, hopefully it will for you too! I've also done a lot of searching around this and have never found a real reason why this happens...

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies, do the following:
#Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
#Tap '''Settings'''.
#After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section '''''Privacy & Security''''' and select '''Clear private data'''.
#You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
#*Cookies & active logins
#*Cache
#After those have been selected, tap the '''Clear data''' button to actually clear the cache and cookies.
Another issue that might be causing this is the embedded video player, do you have flash installed?
In the meantime, the app may also be an alternative to watching videos.

Video flickering after export

Hey Guys,
I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro ever since CS4 came out and this is the first time that I've came across this particular issue. Up until last week I was still using CS6 on my 2011 Macbook Pro. Three days ago I went and purchased a brand new 2014 15 inch Macbook Pro and downloaded the Premiere Pro CC Trial on it. I was loving everything about CC until I exported my first project. Half of the clips were flickering so I matched each flickering clip to the timeline and noticed that the only clips that were flickering were the clips that I had nested.

I've tried exporting in different formats, but I really want to export in .h264
This may sound stupid, but is it because it's the trial version?

I talked with customer support. They suggested that the bug is a result of how I encoded the video in VirtualDub. I used Xvid MPEG-4 codec, and the representative suggested I use a format that is generally more compatible such as H.264 or QuickTime Animation (RLE).
I redid the the conversion with VirtualDub, this time using x264. Unfortunately, this simply introduced new issues when I tried to edit the video.
Interestingly enough, the issue shows up in the preview this time.
I don't know why there are still issues. I would try QuickTime Animation, but I don't know of any free software that would let me perform a conversion. Does anyone know why this happens? If not, does anyone know what software I could try to transcode the video?

XFCE video flickering..

Whenever I play a video file in XFCE [with compositing on] there are horizontal lines,don't know how to explain it, the screen flickers when there's a lot of movement or fast motion in the video. i have faced this problem in both arch and gentoo. So I'm thinking this is a xfce problem. Any ideas?
EDIT: I just turned off compositing by going to Settings->Window manager tweaks and the flickering vanishes. Is there anyway to solve this problem without permanently turning off compositing? Like switching composite on / off easily. Or ask xfce to ignore certain apps from using compositing.

You say mplayer, have you tried smplayer as a frontend and select xv as the video output? May not solve anything, I'll try compositing and videos and I'll post back if I get tearing with compositing enabled.
I don't have the composite section in my xorg.conf but xdpyinfo still reports Composite as an extension .... does this mean that have it enabled anyway or is there any way other way to check for it? Just so I'm not reporting completely useless results.

Same thing here too, with compositing enabled videos are more choppy and there is very visible tearing, with compositing disabled then all is well.
ATI radeonhd2400 with xf86-video-ati-git drivers here and of course also using xfce :d .

External Video flickering on and off

About a week ago, the external video from FCP to my firewire deck began to turn off and on and I would play through a timeline. All on it's own. First I changed out the firewire cable thinking I had a short in it. The problem still persists. I also tried deleting preference files and such with no affect.
Basically as I play through a timeline - doesn't matter what video format (8bit, DVCPro HD, DV/NTSC) and about every 5-10 seconds the external video will flicker and turn off - then sometimes come back on.
Anyone know if this is an FCP issue, Firewire issue, or Video Card issue?

So you have firewire out of your computer into a deck and then from the deck into a monitor?
I would start at the cables connected to the monitor and then work my way back to the computer.
Does the video cut in and out when you play a tape back from the deck without the computer involved?
Does the deck record ths intermitant signal (maybe some sort of record inhibit?)
Does it playback OK in FCP when external video is turned off and no deck connected?
