Video for progressive download - workflow works for CS3 but not CS4
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong with the new Flash CS4.
When I used Flash CS3 I would use the following steps to create a Flash video to view online:
Make a folder for all flash content
In the folder I put the "video".flv file encoded from Quick Time
Import the "video".flv into flash
Save the .fla with the same "video" name
Test the movie
Publish settings using the defaults
Save the flash document
I could send the folder (minus the .fla) to the webmaster to store on the server and then he could point to the "video".swf file and the video would play.
This doesn't work with CS4. I only get a green and white progress bar on the player controls with no video. I assume this means the swf can't find the flv, but they're in the same folder, and I thought the path would hold within a folder. I can't even move the folder to another computer and play the video there. It will only work on the computer where I created the files. I would appreciate any help anyone could offer. I've had to go back to Flash CS3 to correct a mistake in a previously finished video. Thanks in advance.
I did add the gaussian blur to it. Exactly like in the tutorial, I copied his steps in the video exactly, even put the exact same percentage of blur on both the alpha 1 copy and alpha 1 copy 2. both even looked exactly like his after each blur was placed. 4.5% on copy 1, 8.2% on copy 2. after this it all looks just like the instructors. its when the 2 channels are combined and it is filled with black that mine looks different. his comes out with the design white on a black background in channel view, and mine came out black with whit outline on black background on the channels. I even tried filling with white instead of black and that does not work either.
I follow the steps in the video exactly and everything matches up to that one step, if anyone has cs4 maybe they could play with a simple flat shape and try the steps and see if they get a flat outcome as well, or is it possible my version of cs4 has a bug?

Epson plug-in to scan shows up 'works' in CS3 but not in CS5
I've been using an Epson Workforce 635 scanner-printer and have it working perfectly from within CS3 Photoshop using the file>import>epson plug-in.
This does not work in CS5. I simply dragged and dropped the plug-in from the CS3 plug-ins folder to the CS5 plug-ins folder, but it does not show up at all in file>import, neither does the twain plug-in which I also had been using in the older version of Photoshop.
Is there a different way I need to handle this in CS5?

The older TWAIN plugin won't work, you need to download the TWAIN plugin for Photoshop CS5.
I've downloaded and installed the latest 'Lion' plug-in from Epson so that's not it. I know there is a keystroke combination needed to launch CS5 in 32 bit mode but I'll have to search that out.
I'll search for a TWAIN plug-in for CS5 as that would be useful too.

JRE 1.5 plugin for Firefox on Linux works as root but not as an other user
I am trying to usel the JRE plugin for Firefox on Fedora Core 4. I downloaded and installed it as "root" and created the symbolic link so Firefox can "see" it. It now works just fine if I run Firefox as "root", but if I run it as any other user, it thinks that the plugin is not installed.
I checked to make sure that the path to the symbolic link is accessible by anyone (all directories in the path are x to "other" and the link and the .so file are both rx for "other").
What else do I need to do so non-root users can use this plugin?remove $HOME/.mozilla/plugins and $HOME/.java and try again

Hyperlinks for Nigel's page work in iWeb but not in Safari. Why?
In iWeb, the hyperlinks for my NIGEL page all work. They work to and from the main U.B.R.O.L. page. They work to and from the other few people in the U.B.R.O.L. group.
However, these very same hyperlinks for Nigel do NOT work.
What should I do? I am careful with clearing cache.
Lorna in Southern CaliforniaWell, happily, I figured this one out all by myself. The hyperlinks were not working because I had placed them in the Navbar. I had placed them in the Navbar because I had opted to not have those three pages in the Navbar and also I opted to not even show the Navbar on those three pages.
Well, I discovered by many trials and errors that putting hyperlinked boxes in the Navbar, even when nothing else is there, is a bad idea worth losing.
When I lowered the hyperlinks into the regular text field, the hyperlinks worked both on my desktop and in Safari.
Of course, that left me with a bare Navbar to contend with so I decided to put the Navbar back in, but without showing those three pages for Nigel, Helen, or Vali.

File will open in CS3 but not CS4?
I recieved a tif, 161.806"x138.889", cmyk at 72dpi. When I try to open the file in CS4 I get "end of file error".
I have to go back to CS3 and open it, save as psd then it will open in CS4. Any idea why?
thanksThere are some files written by CS3 with bad metadata that CS4 could not read.
Or it could be written or modified by a third party program, and CS3 is ignoring the corrupted part.
I fixed a few cases like that in Photoshop CS5. -

Changing existing embedded video to progressive download
First, forgive me - I am not experienced with Flash and am
flapping around with it a bit.
We have some Flash 5 files that included embedded video and
were thus published as QuickTime files. The embedded videos have
been converted to flv files, and I've attempted to follow all the
instructions for progressive download. However, the flvs seem to
either not play or to become embedded in the timeline. All the
examples I've encountered do not also have an existing timeline
with other (non-video) content, and I can't figure out how to do
this.
These files also have embedded audio.
We have three kinds of timelines:
1. Video plays first, followed by audio and graphic content.
2. Video plays somewhere in the middle, with audio and
graphics on both sides.
3. Video plays last.
Most of the videos are less than 30 seconds. I would really
prefer not to recreate these files from scratch. I'd really like to
figure out how to keep the existing file, and play the linked video
at the appropriate time in the timeline.
Any suggestions for samples or tutorials? From my
description, can you tell if I'm missing some simple little fix?

Maryno way to change the video you already have. Create a new
movie clip and insert your video with progressive dload selected.
Then replace the video frames with the movie clipplaced at the 1st
frame where your movie frames started. The movie will play and the
timeline will continue on. -
How do I renew a provisioning profile that has expired on my phone? I use an app for the company I work for and I cannot open it because it says the provisioning profile has expired.
i'm not quiet sure atm but should normally work like this:
connect to itunes store -> log out with ur account (upper right corner where ur apple id is displayed) -> sign in with ur wifes apple id -> activate computer (store->activate this computer)
normally it should work this way but ur wife wont be able to use apps or music within itunes library purchased with the other apple id -
After uninstalling and downloading the latest Abobe Flash player, I can no lnger play youtube videos. I get the message "blocked plug-in". It works in Firefox, but not Safari?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

If your tables are big it could be necessary to do the filtering (according to your condition) in an early step (the first CTE).

UTube videos from a variety of sources works on iPhone5S but not on Macbook Pro? Thinking it has to do with recommended Flash settings on the MAC. Is there an app to resolve this inoperability on a MAC without having to make Flash active?
What format is the video? Is it .wmv? Do the DVD's have any type of protection or encryption? This information will help in finding a solution.

If the user logs on to office365 web - I can see the 3 shared folders- but if when she opens Outlook she is not able to see them-
Do they - should they be manually added ? How ?

Thanks for your question.
Not sure what exactly you mean by "created shared mailboxes for a user", by default, Outlook automatically loads all mailboxes to which the user has "Full Access" permission. So please first check if you have granted the right permissions
for that mailbox to the user.
When I say "By default", I mean you didn't disable the Outlook Auto-Mapping service. If you did, then the shared mailbox will not be automatically added to the user's Outlook profile. So please have a check on this:

Also, please note if the shared mailbox was just created, or the user was just added as a member of that shared mailbox, you probably will need to wait for a few hours for the shared mailbox to appear in the user's Outlook folder.
