.Does anyone know of any cable or cable combination that would allow me to play video and audio from my iphone 5 onto an imac or a mac pro. I have a lightning to hdmi adapter which works brilliantly into a tv but I would like to watch video from my iphone (with audio) onto various mac screens. These macs do not have apple tvs so it would have to be cables. is it possiblr to do it with usb?
any help appreciated.

I don't believe OS X has the ability to receive AirPlay (which is what you're using). There's some advice on the matter on the Wikipedia page, though:

How are you trying to transfer it? Which applicaiton on the Mac are you using? How are you connecting the iPhone to the Mac? If you're using iPhoto what version of iPhoto is it and what system are you using?

This may sound like a completely basic issue but i can't for the life of me work out how to transfer photos and videos onto my macbook. I can easily put them on iphoto but i don't really want to put them there as i keep all my photos under the normal photos folder. When I plug it in it just opens iphoto though and doesn't give me the option to put them anywhere else. When i used to have a windows pc and plugged my phone in it asked me if i wanted to open and view files, then you would just drag them into whatever folder on your pc you wanted them in. But there doesn't seem to be a similar system on the mac. does anyone have any ideas? it's probably something very simple but i just can't work it out.

With a Mac, you can use iPhoto for importing photos from any digital camera including importing photos and videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll and if you use iPhoto for photo storage and management, which sure makes it easier than doing this the Windows way and manually managing photo storage - manually creating folders for select photos, etc., or you can use the Image Capture application for this which is located in your Applications folder.
iPhoto includes an option via iPhoto preferences to launch automatically when any digital camera is connected and the Image Capture application should include the same.

Photos captured by your iPhone shouldn't be a problem.
Photos saved from a received email, from a website, or from a received MMS has caused this problem for some, and I'm not sure why. I haven't experienced the same yet. This may include screenshots.
Email the screenshots only to yourself followed by deleting the screenshots from your iPhone's Camera Roll, and the same for any photos saved from a received email, from a website, or from a received
MMS.
Test if this resolves the problem for importing the photos and video that were captured by your iPhone.

Forced transfer of videos from iphone to mac

I am using a macbook to sync my iphone with itunes. Recently, it has been forcing me to transfer videos from my iphone to my computer each time I try to sync. If I download a video on my computer and then transfer it to my iphone to watch, it won't let me do it until I say I want to transfer all purchases on my iphone to the computer. If I don't do it, it erases them on my iphone. I have unchecked the sync tv shows, so I don't understand why this is happening. There are some videos I just want to watch on my iphone and not have to have them on my computer. I have never had this problem until recently. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Just found PhotoUpLink which allows you to send the full quality images to your email. What's quite good is that it allows you to select more than one image to send together. Not exactly what I was looking for, but does the job much better than the current Apple (non tethered) method.

Can not import large videos from iphone to MAC or PC.

When I try to import photos from my iPhone 4s to my MAC (with iPhoto) or PC(with explorer) I got no problem at all but with videos larger than 2-3 gb, I receive the message:iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image. Anyone has an idea how to overcome this?

Use Image Capture to upload the video files to a folder on the Desktop and import into iPhoto from there.

Getting movies (not just video) from iPhone 3GS to Mac

I did the following in order (question at end)
captured video using iPhone 3GS
synced video from iPhone to iPhoto on Mac
imported iPhoto video to iMovie
created movie in iMovie
used "Share" feature in iMovie to share the movie in iTunes (so I could play on Apple TV)
synced movie back to iPhone
deleted movie from Mac (where iTunes was accessing it)
Now, the movie content only resides on my iPhone...can I get it back from the iPhone onto my Mac (so I can eventually get it back into iTunes)?

Thanks to Grognard for suggesting this:
Step one: turn off and on your iPhone.
Step Two : launch iTunes and iPhoto
Step three : connect the iPhone to the computer
Then importation will be possible.
Clearly this still seems to be a glitch -- these kinds of work-arounds are a huge pain. Hope an update will solve the problem.

3.iphoto will display your photo on iphone, just choose whatever you want to transfer.
4.Click "Import selected" on the right top. Or you can click "Import ** photos" if you want to transfer all photos from iphone to Mac.

Have you launched and tired Image Capture? When it's launched with the iPad connected the photos will display in the window. Select those you want to upload and use the Import to: menu and select Other. Navigate to the Desktop and select the folder you created to hold those photos.

Video from iPhone to iMovie on Mac and quality issues

Task: Wanting to take video from my iPhone 5 into iMovie HD Version 6.0.3 to do some editing, trimming, transitions, etc. I have done this on many occasions but have NEVER been able to share/export the finished product with any kind of quality result. I want to upload to youtube and it never looks very good. Looks "ok" if just viewed as is, but if you click on full-screen it does not look good.
I have never liked any of the other newer versions of iMovie - old dog new tricks problem. I have versions 9.0,9 and 10.0.3 and maybe I need to use one of those to solve the problem. If so would someone please tell me should I export as .mov or .mp4 and what exact settings to use.

How do I get 720p res video from ipod to mac

I'm told the default video res setting on the 4th gen Ipod touch is 720p. The only way I can currently get a video that I've shot to my Imac is to e-mail it to myself, which works but knocks the res way down. Do I have to purchase a third party software to transfer a full 720p video that I've shot to my Mac? Anybody had success with a particular piece of software?

After transferring videos from Iphone to laptop, Why would the video be rotated 90 degrees?

IIRC, the iPhone is configured that "normal orientation" for video recording is horizontal with the home button on the right. If you are holding it in a different orientation, then that would be encoded in the EXIF data on the recirded video file. Now if that file is edited and that EXIF data is removed or altered, then you could see what you are seeing. It is also possible that the player yo uare playing the videos back in does not properly support the EXIF data embedded in the videos, which would have the same results. When I record video on my iPhone 5, the playback on my Mac works properly.

I've just got my new iPhone 4 (upgraded from iPhone 2G) and it's superb!
I recorded my first video today but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to sync into iTunes. Everything else works fine.
