Video front camera

Hello forum,
I tried three sony tablets at my company. After I upgraded to 3.2.1 I have a very dark picture on my front camera what I am not able to adjust. On the back camera the picture is okay. What is this problem?
I have this when I open the default camera app for example or the video from skype. So to say the tablet is useless for video chat . On the previous firmware this what working.
Am I the only one having this problem?

I just got the Tablet s and I just installed skype to try out the some video calling and I have to say this is the worst front facing camera by todays standards. In normal room lighing it looks like dark shadows. I FaceTime with my wife and friends all the time and the Sony Tablet S has given me a great appreciation for the fornt and back cameras on the iPhone.
It is safe to say the front facing camera is a not usable for anything useful the way it is. I wished I tried the camera before updating to 3.2.1 to make sure it's not a software problem. The back facing camera is better than the front but still pretty bad compared to the iPhone. Very noisy and grainy.
I don't think the mega pixiel have anything to do with it. It just a bad quality electronics and/or optics.
We have iPhones and iPads, but I got the Sony Tablet S because most of the entertainment system and camers are sony and I thought the Sony Tablet S would be a good media device for managing music videos and pictures, boy I was so wrong. I'm getting ready to post my review. This was a complete waste of time and money and I'm already planning on putting it on ebay. But first I'm going to check the return policy first.
It would be nice to post pictures to show the night and day difference between the tablet s and the iPhone. This is acceptable comming from Sony.

If the DroidX had a front camera how easy would it be to video call with Skype or Fringe?

Apparently EVO with Sprint you can video conference with Fringe but is this something that has to been done through WIFI? I was ready to upgrade to the DroidX but I am wondering if I should hold off for the front camera. I love using Skype video and it would be amazing to have this feature on the phone if it is an easy thing to do.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone is knowledgable about this information.

Since that is a hypothetical situation (Droid X front camera), there is no real way to even guess how the carrier or manufacture would implement this feature because if you look at how other devices use this feature you notice that they are not implementing this feature the same way. Also in regards to the EVO video calls is across the 4G network but from what I have read they have been experiencing a lot of connection issues do to the network being over whelmed (which isnt a surprise)...

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

Capturing/recording/saving front camera as video (with sound)

hi,
would it be possible to record a video with sound (front camera) on mobile devices (ios and android)?
i need to save the video on a webserver when it's finished recording.
i don't want the user to leave the main app so it would be necessary to use a custom recording solution.
anyone knows how to achieve this?

You may need to contact Apple Support in order to obtain service for your iPhone, as this is the only step remaining from our iPhone Hardware Troubleshooting guide.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

How can i use n900 front cam as a webcam in skype....

hey there. i was wondering, if i can use the front cam of my device as a webcam in skype from inside the fone, can i use it for video calling from pc by connecting n900 to pc via mass storage or pc suite mode??

skype works fine on the n900 including the video talking. i have never used my device as a webcam for my pc. onlydid that with my e90 whichrequiredan application, so there must be some way to do it.

Nokia Lumia 900 Front camera issues

I bought the new Nokia Lumia 900 few days back and today for the first time when I tried using the front camera on one of my video calls it just froze. Thinking that it is software(skype, tango) problem I tried to open regular camera but the front camera wouldnt come up. I called At&t technical support he advised me to switch off the phone, remove sim, re-insert the sim and turn it on. It worked(thought I still dont understand the realtion between sim and camera). But after some time the camera again hung up on me. This time I switched my phone off for 5 minutes and then turned it on it worked. And I cannot do the whole process again and again all day. Is that a known issue or defect in my phone.

I also have a new Lumia 900 with skype installed. I am finding that the experience on wifi is still not as smooth as Facetime on an iPhone. I am also finding that after I use it a second time (my call hung up in the middle), suddenly my front camera will not work correctly anymore. It is showing the image as though it has some kind of a filter applied and there does not appear to be a way to turn or reset this filter. Switching to the front view worked fine. Audio continued to work fine and my phone did not lock up, other then possibly internet delays. I got the front camera to work again by powering down. I think there might still be software issues.

The front camera on my iPod 5 is not working and I have had this problem for a LONG time. When I try to open my front camera, it freezes and does not work. this also happens when I try to use the front camera on apps like Instagram and snap chat. I had this problem before ios7. I've tried a lot of things I tried restarting my iPod, but that didn't work. I've also tried to back-up and restore my iPod on the computer and on the device, but that didn't work. I waited for ios7 to come out because I thought that maybe the camera would start working again if I updated, but I was still having the same problem after the update. it's getting really frustrating because I try to video chat my friends but they can't see me cause the camera won't work! what do I do? I don't think it's a hardware problem because I googled this before and a LOT of people seem to have the exact same problem
here are some additional details that might help:
-this problem started since the 2nd day I had my iPod
-the back camera works just fine
-I did everything except restoring it to factory settings
-I haven't taken it to the Apple store
what do I do? should I restore it to factory settings? will all my music and pictures get deleted if I restore it to factory settings?

Since you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

BlackBerry Classic front camera no longer works after update

The front camera on my BlackBerry Classic no longer works after the 10.3 update. The BBM video chat does not work either - error message, another application is using the camera. I tried rebooting and a factory reset and the problem still persists. Please help.

IPod touch 5th gen front camera not working?

I Got this ipod and its been working great! But all of a sudden the front camera isn't working. I rest it and I rest the settings and its still not working. I really don't understand why it's not working when it was working just fine yesterday. I didn't mess with any of the settings at all its just not working and I don't know why. Can someone help me with this?

Why does my iPod 4g front camera not work?

I have an iPod 4g for over a year now. The front camera no longer works. Whenever I click the button to switch it to the front camera, the last image from the rear camera just freezes. Urgent help nokia c7 front camera error belle

i have upgrade to belle then i show that my front camera is not working.
it is showing "unexpected error occurred, please restart the camera. if this doesnot help please restart your phone"
i restarted the phone then also not worked.
i tried soft reset then also not worked .
i tried 3 finger format (volume key,menu key and camera key)
then also my problem not solved . i reinstalled the software then also the same problem . please tell me what to do . and my phone is not under warantee ...

Air 3.5 front camera issue

I am using the latest air 3.5 sdk to build an video application. But I find that the front camera can not render correctly in spark.VideoDisplay, while the back camera is ok.
My deivce is galaxy nexus, android 4.1.2, the code is below:

Looks like he created a bug report, I am having the same issue and cannot find a work around on droid bionic after upgrading from 3.4 to 3.5.

I can not switch to the front camera on my iTouch 4g.

I have owned two 4th Generation Ipod Touches. After having both for over half a year, their front cameras will not work. I do not usually use the front camera. When I attempt to switch to the front camera from the Camera App (or from the Lock Screen) the Camera/Video button begins to flicker and the screen will either show the shutter or blackness. When attempting to switch the camera on Instagram, it notifies me that there was an error launching the camera. on my oldest device I was able to restart the Ipod and the front camera would work for a while before I would be required to restart it again. My newest device used to be the same way, but now it will not be fixed by restarting/shutting down/reebooting the device.
Other Details:
1st Ipod: Dropped- Front camera shattered and top left corner of Ipod cracked; Screen turned completely white when device was cold; Glass replaced once
2nd Ipod: Dropped- Bottom left corner dented and one thin line arching from corner to right side through the screen; Slow in taking pictures (back camera)
If this is a software problem, I would like to know if it can be fixed with at-home fixes.
If this is a hardware problem, must the entire devie be replaced or just the glass?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem then it is a hardware problem.
I suspect that replacing the screen will not fix the camera problem unless the problem is due to a loose connection since replacing the screen could restore that connection.
