  • IPod 60Go 1.1.1 - Video Menu - impossible to see the "TV Series" category

In iTunes 6.0.4, Preference menu, iPod window, I have 6 categories : "Music", "Podcasts", Photos", "Music Videos", "Contacts" and "Calendars".
How come I don't have the entire "Videos" category and only the "Music Videos" sub-category ?
When I look at the website support, I see 5 sub-categories in "Videos" : "Recently Added", "Mixed Playlist", "Movies", "Music videos" and "TV Shows".
How do I get these other sub-categories ?
When I save TV Series episodes on the iPod, they don't appear since I don't have the "TV Series" sub-category.
Another weird thing : every video that appear on the iPod is put into the "Movies" sub-category, no matter what I put in the "Genre".
Another point : In the "Music videos" window, I have no access, everything is disabled. Why ?
    iPod 60Go - Update 1.1.1   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I also have this same problem, sort of. I have a videos category, but inside of it I have all menus exept for the "TV Shows" menu. could someone help. And as for one of your problems, Marc, to put videos in other categories other than "Movies" you don't edit in the "genre" field. Instead, click Get Info, then click on the options tab, and you can change it in the drop down menu "Video Kind"

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I would suggest that you first of all try to boot your phone into safe mode to see if the problem may be related to any 3rd party app that you have installed in your phone:

  • Viewing Flash Videos in IE8 with limitations

    Hi All,
My OS is XP 32-bit SP 3.
    Flash player 10.1
    Default Browser IE 8.0.6001.18702
    Problem:
Watching Fox News videos are impossible when only the black video window comes up , while Fox business videos are OK.
IE8 loads the News videos with error when try to watch it:
    Message: 'videoPlayerFlashVars' is undefined
    Line: 110
    Char: 7
    Code: 0
    URI: http://video.foxnews.com/
All other type of videos are OK with IE8.
Watching the same videos with FF browser error free and flawless.
I need help to solve this.

    Hi eidnolb,
Remember when you said Flash videos don't work with IE on Fox videos
that FF worked for me on their website videos (both news & business) and that was my partial (only partial because works with Fox business videos for me) solution for IE:

=> Troubleshoot Pop-up Blockers  Movies do not appear after installing Flash Player (tn_19091), then Solution 2.

  • Latest iTunes update moved some (but not all) Music Videos to Film catalogue.

iTunes has moved 1 of my music videos (Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.) to Films so now it appears in my film list instead of my music list. It had somehow changed some of the detils to match one of the films in my Films list (Simon Peggs 'Paul') including it's name (at first I though it had just replaced Pauls image with one from the Gorrilaz song).
Going into the Get Info menu option to change file types from Film to Music Video is impossible as the 'media kind' dropbox is set to 'Film' and greyed out.
I've tried deleting and re-downloading it from iTunes but it puts it in the same place. Any ideas how to get this to move back to the music list?
I've noticed that a lot (although, not all) of the music that I've purchased through iTunes is now duplicated (with a cloud download icon) and was wondering if it was related to this?

  • "Trimming off" the top of the video in iMovie?

Alright, so I'm recording Minecraft(a video game) with Screenflow for a youtube video and editing in iMovie. Problem is, in the UI of minecraft, the version number is shown in the upper-left corner of the screen. I'd like to somehow "trim" the top sliver of the video off so it doesn't show this. Is that possible? I've tried cropping but the cropping options are inexcusably light and imposing a "black box" image on the top of the video is impossible because it doesn't allow your to "Stretch" the image properly. How can I go about doing this?

So when you crop using the crop tool, you are getting a black rectangle after you apply the cropping? In searching the iMovie Help, these are the directions on how to use the Crop Tool in iMovie '11.
To crop a video clip or still image:
In the Project browser, select a video clip or photo, and then press the C key or click the Crop button.
Click Allow Black if there are black borders on the image that you want to be able to include in your crop.
Allow Black applies to photos only, not to video.
In the viewer, click Crop, and then drag to resize and reposition the green cropping rectangle to focus on the part of the image you want.
To resize the cropping rectangle, move the pointer to a corner of it until the pointer turns into a plus sign, and then drag.
Click the Play button in the viewer to preview your work.
When you’re satisfied with the crop, click Done.
Whether you crop media in a project or an Event, you can change or remove the crop at any time by selecting the cropped photo or video, clicking the Crop button, and then making whatever changes you want.

  • Manage VIdeo Updates MANUALLY!

    Hello,
I usually manage songs and playlist manually as I never keep library refurbished (takes too much of hard drive space but keep it in separate hard drive as backup)
I want to manage videos manually: IMPOSSIBLE>
My video tag in the preferences menu keeps being frozen unless I select AUTOMATICALLY MANAGE SONGS in the music tag.
ANY CLUES! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! I am starting to regret to migrate from 4th to 5th generation IPOD!!! should have kept my IPOD PHOTOS!
    thanks

I want to manage videos manually: IMPOSSIBLE
Not impossible at all. In fact, you're already doing it.
If your music is set for manual updates... then you are also using manual updates for video. This is why the video preferences are greyed out.
When your music is in manual update mode, so is video. Just drag & drop video files as you would your music.

  • Complicated problem: Laggy Macbook Pro, now not booting

I am facing a very complicated issue with my unibody Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro (2.2 ghz core i7, 4gb 1333mhz ram, amd radeon 6750m, if you need hardware details).
I guess the issue started after my computer started to get laggy for no reason at all: it was never the GUI that lagged, but whenever I would perform some data-dependent tasks such as playing a video, or trying to open a big file. This lagging did coincide with some of my friends playing around with magnets around my computer (which may have possibly corrupted hard disk data).
After it got laggy, another major problem hit my MacBook, where I plugged in an old, broken USB into one of the ports by accident, and the computer suddenly shut it self off. The computer then seemed to have no power at all, with no response to pressing power button, or the battery indicator button. I feared the worst: that my logic board had been fried, so I immediately took my computer to the Apple Reseller. The technicians there said it was no problem at all, just that my motherboard had shut itself of in order to protect itself from a USB power shortage, and he unplugged and replugged this one small component on the logic board, which I am guessing is the Power Management Unit, and my computer miraculeously started booting.
So then, I get back home, and the laggy problem is still there. I just had to cope with the problem for a few days, until I go back to the Apple Reseller, but then suddenly, after a restart, the computer started not even booting. The grey apple icon would blink, and turn into a circle with a cross icon. Checked online, and this is apparently related to corrupted system files. This is where I began to suspect that the USB shut-off from few days ago, did more damage than the technicians thought: maybe related to the hard disk, or RAM.
But then again, it could have just been a coincidental corrupt hard disk from my actions, so I wiped/repartitioned my hard disk, and restored the OS and my files from a TIme Machine Backup. Again, the problem was still there, so I thought it might be to do with my backed up system files, so I did a fresh install of Lion.
The fresh install of Lion seemed to eliminate all lagging problems, but after I started copying my files and installing applications from Time Machine, the lagging problem gradually returned. So another question arose, was it a faulty hard disk, or a corrupt file or application that was making it laggy? To check if it was my hard disk, I did a zero-over erase of the entire disk with Disk Utility, and sure enough, the writing process failed in the middle.
After thinking I zeroed in on the problem, I replaced the hard disk in my Macbook Pro with another 750gb Toshiba SATA drive, and did a clean install of Lion. Once again, the laggy problem was gone, but just like the old hard disk, the laggy problem returned after I started copying files over and installing applications. Switching applications would take forever, and accessing folders on my hard disk would also be laggy. Playing videos was impossible, but the GUI (dock, spaces, etc) were all very responsive.
Now, I thought the problem is either with faulty RAM, or my hard disk reader is broken (since two hard disks, although the original one was faulty, both failed). I read online that the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) can help identify and pinpoint hardware problems, so I inserted the 2nd disk that came with my computer (Applications Install), and pressed D, but then nothing came up. After countless attempts, I maybe thought it was the wrong disk, so I inserted the 1st disk (OS Installer), and held D while booting, but still, AHT would not load.
After countless attempts at loading AHT, all of which led to me forcing shut down/holding power button after seeing the Apple logo, brings the problem to where I am at now: my Macbook does not boot into the login screen. After the Apple logo, and the spinner wheel have appeared, the screen turns white and the display becomes an infinite loop of switching from a gray color, to a white color.
This problem is frustrating me very much, because there are so many possible causes, and the problem persists even after reinstalling the OS, and even replacing the ard drive. The logic board shutoff could be the cause, but then again, the lagging problem started way before it happened. Somebody please tell me what is the problem, and what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Didn't know my magnets were strong enough to corrupt hard disks.
Yes, it's a method used to destroy data on a hard drive as it's recorded using magnetic fields, either "on" or "off" to represent the 1's and 0's that make up the basic building blocks of your data.
But, the magnet does not explain why the hard disk reported an error when being erased with zero-over option.
When the driver software has a problem reading the data on the drive, it assumes it's a bad sector, then maps it off and uses a spare. You likely ran out of spares.
I just tried zero-over erasing the second, good hard disk that replaced the original, but again, it fails. Is this a common problem with the zero erase option?
    No.
or is it something to do with my hard disks, or some sort of damaged hardware in my computer?
Well this is drive #2 and it's new, and you get the same problem.
It's either something your doing, (like moving the hard drive/ computer while it's operating thus the heads are striking the platters) or it's a hardware defect, or perhaps the magnets did other damage we can't see, perhaps it's magnatized the computer and that's affecting the hard drive or electronics.
May be a loose or defective cable.
It's time for a hardware evaluation at this point.

  • No DNS and Double NAT

Hello, I've recently encountered a very frustrating bug in my system that I could use some help troubleshooting.  I've read several similar posts, some are resolved while others are not, however none of the resolutions have worked for my situation.  Here it goes:
I have an old macbook pro, a new macbook air, a white macbook and 2 iPhone 4s's all connected to the internet via WiFi through an AirPort Extreme.  The AE is connected to a cable modem which has internet service through Cablevision in NY.  There is also an AT&T Microcell hooked up to the AE to boost my cell signal.   All of this equipment has been working flawlessly together for a long time.  Until recently.  It could have started after an update, there have been several lately on all of the equipment including the firmware in the AE.  Anyway, I'll be connected without any issues - all lights green and happy - when suddenly, the internet will drop off and the AirPort Utility will pop up and warn me that:
    1) On the "internet" icon, it will say "disconnected"
    2) On the AE icon, it says "No DNS server and Double NAT"
After a few minutes and nothing done on my part, the lights turn green, the internet reconnects and all is well again.
This happens frequently and is really beaching a nuisance.  Due to the frequency of the disconnection, I can no longer download a large file, update, or anything.  Streaming video is impossible.
So far, I have tried bridge mode and cycled the power in the order recommended to no avail.  When I do that, the AE turns green, but the internet says "not connected".  I have also read that there might be too many IP addresses which is not sitting well with my ISP, so I disconnected everything including unplugging the Microcell.  Lastly, there are no other wireless phones or devises in the house.  All to no avail.
I should also mention that this began occurring on my Time Capsule, which I replaced with the AE in an attempt to fix this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Joe

Sounds very similar to what I've been trouble shooting for 2 months now, only I have DSL from AT&T and I don't see the Double NAT warning.  My last post on the problem is here.
My only emergency solution for getting by day to day on the internet is to unplug the AE and connect one Mac directly to the DSL modem.  There's no shared connection or WiFi.  I looked at hosting WiFi from the Mac, but the only security available with that is WEP which isn't considered secure.  Even with this set up, I think (seat of the pants) that there are quality of service problems.
I've replaced the Airport Extreme with 2 different new units and the DSL modem with a new unit to no avail.  The Genius Bar and Apple phone support couldn't solve this, nor have 2 calls to AT&T support and one visit from an AT&T repairman.
I would like to know how to better test or quantify the poor quality of connection that seems to be the problem.

  • [SOLVED] i915: no gpu acceleration with 3.18.0

    Hi,
I compiled the new vanilla kernel using the same .config as the previous one (also self compiled), but with 3.18 intel gpu accleration fails to start. Xorg.bin log says "Failed to submit rendering commands, disabling acceleration". As a result Gnome is painfully choppy and watching a video is impossible. This happens on both my first gen i7 laptop and Core2 desktop, so Ironlake and Earlake.
Another machine with a nvidia card and proprietary modules compiled with dkms seems unaffected.

  • IPv6 Connectivity limited ??

I am wondering whether anyone can help me with this one please ?
We have recently had massive problems with slow broadband speeds. We have home hub 1 so have had the hub for a while now and have never had a problem with speed until the last month or so.
What I have noticed is that our wireless network connection status says that:
Our IPv4 Connectivity is Internet and the IPv6 is limited..
This I can see is the problem because when IPv6 is limited the internet is very slow, ie videos are impossible to watch, however IPv6 normally says Local??
Any ideas how to change this back to local from limited ?? and any ideas why this connectivity keeps changing ?
    Thanks

Unless I am mistaken, Home Hub 1 will only deal with IP version 4. Even the connection into the Internet is IP version 4. IP version 6, even though implemented by some Broadband companies such as in France, is not used by BT.
The DHCP on your Home Hub, this is what gives your computer its network address cannot even issue an IPv6 address.
It is most likely that this is something that is being generated by your PC. If for some reason you are running  IPv6 within your network, the router into the internet will strip off the first part of the IP address so that it is now an IPv4 address.
If you believe it is IPv6 causing a problem, you can turn it off in the software on your PC. I presume it is XP or later as that was the first to offer IPv6 in addition to IPv4. I would be guessing where it is located on your machine but typically it will be in control panel and network.

  • Macbook 2007 is totally after slow after upgrading Adobe Flash for Safari

Last month I replaced the (failed) hard drive of my 2007 Macbook with a new 500 GB HD. Everything was great until I attempted to upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Flash player for safari. After uninstalling the old flash player I found it impossible to add the new one--or any other version. I decided to give up for a while until I could go into Apple for advice. I used chrome to watch Youtube, but the videos were totally choppy--freezing and suddenly speeding up--But the real worry is that the entire system is slow slow slow with endless beach balls. I've used utility first aid, Clean mymac, iboost, and tiddyup--each time things seemed better (or not as bad) but I still got beachballs and videos still impossible to watch. I also tried a suggested fix that involved pressing control>command>P.R while powering up. Today I managed to finally upgrade the flash player after upgrading to the newest version of Safari. But videos just as bad and still super slow with beach balls. I would greatly appreciate any new suggestions. Maybe the new HD is defect? I also upgraded to Snow Leopard last year. Thanks!

  • Attn: ANYONE with ZEN MX

)?For anyone who can convert video files into .cmv, is it possible for you to convert a few videos for me? If you are okay with that, please reply!
If not, can you help me with advice?
    Video is IMPOSSIBLE.
    2) I wanted to put in some movies which were in .avi format, and Creative Centrale kept saying, "Convert unsuccessful, video codec required for conversion is not installed." I have no idea what that means, but I've read what other people have done and converted my videos into .avi again using Badak.
I open the video in Creative Centrale, drag it to the "Zen" icon, and it says "transferring..." and then stops two seconds later because the conversion is STILL unsuccessful.
    2) Later I managed to put in some movies once I converted it into .mov format, but a week afterward, when I wanted to add in more videos, .mov didn't work anymore. It says "Quicktime 7 or above is required," but I do have Quicktime 7. And if I try to convert it too many times, something pops up that says, "Audio Video Converter isn't responding, has been closed," and then I can't even start conversion at all. (Something about RNC doesn't work, and it shows the file as having 0 bytes)
Can someone help me figure out what's wrong?

No help available it seems - certainly not from Creative
