Video i pod

I have a video ipod and i put some video clips on it and it plays the video but my ipod does not play the sound that goes with it. I called the support and they gave me a link to buy a new version of MPEG-2 Playback Component i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and knows of another way.

The convert dosen't always work. The quick time may convert it for you but it also at times dosen't do the audio. Quicktime will tell you you need to buy an additional audio codex converter for another 30 bucks. I have found a simple converter program that works great for all of my wmv and other videos. 30 gig video i-pod i-tunes 8 update?

I have a 30 gig video i-pod and recently downloaded i-tunes 8. i expected i-pod software to be updated with features like Genius and Cover Shuffle when i synced but it hasn't happened - am i doing something wrong or am i expecting too much from a 2005 i-pod?!

My video i-pod will not even react to my computer

Just two weeks ago...everything was fine!.....I would plug my video i-pod in to my computer and it would say "mass storage device" blah blah blah...then my itunes would pop up and my i-pod would be there called "chelsee's i-pod"
Now when I plug it in...nothing happens.....it charges but will not connect to my i-tunes...or even say there is a Mass storage device.
PLease help me...could it be from upgradeing itunes??? or could I have done something wrong under the i-pod settings???

Is there a big difference between ipod hi fi and the video i pod?? What is the difference??? Can you actually hear the difference in sound???

30 GB video I pod went blank.

PLease advise: I was watching a video from itunes and the screen frozed. I tried to reset and the screen went blank. Now, I am unable to turn on the i pod. I am unable to sync with my computer, because the I can not turn on the i pod. This is sad. The i pod is only a few months old. The batteries were not low. HELP

Lack of Sleep Timer on Video I-Pod

I just upgraded from a 20GB I-POD to the new 60 GB Video thinking I was really improving my lot, then I discoved it doesn't have the sleep timer that the old one did. What a disappointment. Why would they do that? Surely this is something that could be added by a software update. Please APPLE, upgrade and add the sleep timer back, we used it a lot.

Actually, it does have a sleep timer. On the iPod, from the main menu go to extras, then clock, then make a "new clock". Once you have made a clock you can always just go from the main menu, to extras, to the clock you have made, then sleep timer and set the time you want.

Saving movie files for video I Pod

I hope you can help me with an issues of trying to save a home movie into the right format so that I can transfer the movie to my new I pod video. I have been trying to use Final Cut Pro Express HD to save the movie file. I saved the file as m4v file. Was able to drag it into the I tunes library but I was not able to drag the file from the library and into the I Pod.
Can I use Final Cut Pro Express to save the right format? How do I get it into my I Pod?

I was finally able to save a movie in FCE and get it in 5g I Pod. I frist saved the file in FCE as a I pod file an m4v. "Export" and then "Video for iPod".
The video is not only exported as a .m4v file
but is also sized correctly for playback on the the iPod (320x240).
Drag the file into the i Tunes library. After dragging the video file to the iTunes library you have to add it to an existing playlist or create a new playlist for it, the same way you do for music. Create a new playlist file, video,and drag it in.
The last step was the part i was missing.
If you manually manage your audio files, you must manually manage your videos. If your iPod automatically updates your audio files, you must choose one of the two automatic update options for video or choose not to update videos.
Open iTunes 6 and drag your new movie file icon to the iTunes library in the Source list. To learn how to browse and view videos in iTunes, click here. Note: iTunes won't let you drag the movie to the Video playlist, but once you drag it to the Library, it will automatically appear in the Video playlist. You can also drag the video file to a playlist you create. I was not able to drag the file from the library to my I Pod which I have heard more than once that you can. So try that.

I would recommend taking a look at the current Mac Pro Podcast where they have a demo showing the steps to getting video converted to the iPod format.

30GB Video I-POD Locking Up

I just received back an I-POD 30GB player from Apple that I sent to them to repair. The player was locking up and the only time it would turn on is when I would connect it to my PC and let it sit for a few minutes. I was not able to reset the player using the Five Rs technique. Apple sent the player back to me with a note indicating they could not find anything wrong with it! I have restored the ITunes software (V7) and the updater (V??), but they do not seem to work. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone, but has anyone had this issue?

Small still photo on video i pod w/ music but no streaming...

i have a new video ipod and i only get a small still photo w/ music but no streaming video. any ideas on how to get the video working and larger?

If you are listening to music, then you will only get music and album art, not video. You have to have the videos to watch the videos.
Now, if you have videos on your iPod and when you watch them you only hear the audio and see a small shot of the video, then there are a couple of things to do, which should fix the problem.
First, make sure that you are accessing the video from the Videos menu, and not anywhere else. If you try to play a video, music video, video podcast, etc. from anywhere but the videos menu, you won't get video.
Second, make sure TV Out is set to off or ask (and then select no). Go to Videos-->Video Settings-->TV Out-->Off. Now try playing the video. It should play correctly.

Your version of Mac OS X is not capable of using iTunes 6 or the Fifth Generation iPod; you need to install a newer version of Mac OS X before you can use either.

Video to 5G i-pod

Hi All,
I had managed to put "converted" Video on to the i-pod, it was muxed and so had no audio, I decided to remove all video from i-pod and then re update. I therefore removed the video from i-tunes and did a complete update successfully with all music being successfully transferred. I then converted the video using PQ DVD to I-Pod Video Suite software and succesfully added to the files library in i-tunes. All seemed set for a simple total update of the i-pod to add the video.
This is where my problem has occurred. The "update" does not transfer the video which is obviously in the file library of i-tunes. Upon closer examination I have noticed that where previuosly in "Prefences" for i-pod within i-tunes there was VIDEO tab there is no longer one, it only has MUSIC, PODCASTS, CONTACTS and CALENDARS. Also I remember a check box somewhere that was I think for "Update Videos". I cannot find this anywhere and suspect that if I could it would solve the problem. I have tried to manually drag and drop video but without success.
I have performed reset but not yet restore as I see this as a last resort and all my music will have to be reloaded.
Can anybody please help me out as I now effective have a Video i-pod that will not accept Video.

Also, are you connecting the iPod to the computer via a USB port on the computer or through a USB hub?
Have you tried a different USB cord?
The computer is not recognizing that your iPod is able to play videos, which is why they are not being transferred. The checkbox you refer to was in the Videos tab (in preferences).

I-Pod Video 30GB Leather Case

I'm looking for a leather case for my 30G Video I-Pod. I want something that has a built-in wheel and screen cover. No belt clip or arm band is prefered.
I read that Apple's leather case got good reviews, but if I understood it right you have to slide it out of the case to use it. That seems pointless to me b/c you are still explosing your IPOD every time you change a song and if any sand or dirt gets into the case it scratches every time you slide it out right?
Please give me some advice here!

Putting Videos on to I-Pod

Hello all, firstly i must hold my hand up and admit im not the worlds greatest computer user. I have recently purchased the 30g video i-pod i have got all my cds on it now and am pleased with it. However can i put dvds on to it in the same way? Just banging it in and clicking import??? If so how much can you put on, i.e a full film or just short sketches?
Im using windows XP.
Be thankfull of any advice.
