Video import crashes iTunes 7.5
I just bought a new PC and I'm trying to get my iTunes library set up again.
I backed up iTunes to about 7 DVDs from my old computer, but I really don't want to change the way all my music is organized if I just shove in the restore disc. I've had a file/folder structure I've been using for 10 years for my MP3 files and I'm not willing to give that up.
I imported all my straight MP3 files without issue, as well as the folder "iTunes Music" from the old PC that I copied over to this PC.
The problem comes when I try and import my videos. I know for a fact these video files are good and in the proper format, they worked on my old PC.
When I select the videos folder, it imports about 50 videos then dies on a certain file. I've removed that file from the folder and tried it again. I got most of the videos to import but there are a few that are causing issues. As soon as the folder import hits one of the "bad" videos, iTunes just crashes out.
Like I said, I know these video files are good as they are on my 80GB Classic right now.
I did upgrade to iTunes 7.5 right prior to importing all the videos, which could have something to do with it. I'm not sure at this point but it's kind of frustrating. First of all I'm going to have to do a complete sync with the iPod again, and now I'm going to lose some of the videos I had before on it.
Upon exiting iTunes 7.5 I also frequently get a message that iTunes has stopped responding.

Same here, though on XP. Have tried cleaning registry, reinstalling, deleting preferences. Created a new user with no library and I have the problem there, too, so it's not the library.
Is there no one to call about this??

I cannot play video content on itunes using my ibook g4. I can download it and play it on my ipod. I can watch video content on bbc iplayer and youtube but if i try video content on itunes the below error occurs and itunes crashes. Can anyone help?

If so, you may have some software compatibility issue going on within your primary user account. In which case, you'll want to go thru and update versions of software. Grab the Combo OS Updater from Apple's site. Repair Permissions too. Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive.

Final Cut Pro Video Import Crash Problems
Whenever I try to import video files into Final Cut Pro X the program crashes. I've tried numerous formats and nothing is working. If it does pull the video in and lets me see it briefly prior to crashing, the footage appears shaky and with bright green lines running through it. It does not look like this if you play the clip outside of FCP. I've used FCP to make videos within the last year without this problem and have updated as well as uninstalled and re-installed the software to see if that would helped, but nothing has worked. I am stumped and my client is getting antsy for a finished product. Please advise.

Wrong aspect ratio of video imported to itunes
Imported video from eyetv to AppleTV has the incorrect aspect ratio in itunes but the correct aspect ratio in QT.
For example a file with dimensions 1024x576 is reported and plays 1489x576.
This problem was solved by installing Perian, but a recent update of itunes has restored the problem.I have precisely the same problem. In the past (over the last year or less) I have used Perian to fix iTunes' incorrect display of video. The video has come from EyeTV export via Turbo.264 encoding but the latest update of iTunes (8.0.2) has "restored the problem". I have tried to reinstall Perian, but I'm not sure if I managed to fully remove it first. When "Remove Perian" is selected from the Perian Preference Pane, it doesn't fully remove it. The Perian Preference Pane remains......
Hopefully, a Perian update might solve this once more..... -
I have been trying to import video into Priemer Pro (6) and every time I import a video that is longer than 5 minutes it crashes. If I go in and import individual files the audio imports fine, but video files causes it to crash. I have ran the latest updates. I use a Panasonic P2. Any advice or help would be greatly apperciated.

The music sync is ONE WAY - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases. You can transfer itunes purchases only: Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
The ipod will sync with ONE computer only. When you sync to another, it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
You should move everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old computer, to your new one.
The ipod touch is not a storage device or backup device. It is intended to mirror the selected content of your computer. -
Panasonic HDC-SD9 video import crashes iMovie
Everytime I try to import video from my Panasonic HDC-SD9 using iMovie it crashes the program.
A google search on the problem led me to installing the Quicktime plugin Perian 1.1 but this did nothing to help the issue.
Other people have recommended purchasing ShedWorx’s VoltaicHD Converter but I'd rather not have to purchase software to import video into a mac that just supposed to work with everything... additionally ShedWork's site said that Intel Macs should be able to import AVCHD files.
Anyone have any luck fixing this issue? Or know when Apple plans on supporting this camera?

How can i get videos imported onto iTunes?
I can get everything else to work except for the movie/videos on itunes.... when i try to add a file to the library it doesnt even pop a notification up or anything, nothing happens at all. so if anyone could help me i would REALLY appreciate it! Thank YOU!

Adding Video Artwork Crashes iTunes
Everytime I convert one of my DVDs to .mov format, it is added to my computer perfectly (using the Videora iPhone converter).
However, when I attempt to add artwork to my movie, the movie is erased from my library and iTunes crashes. What is wrong and what can I do?

ITunes won't play video bought through iTunes Store
A little while ago my computer died. I had backed up my itunes files individually, and when I recieved my new computer I dragged the files into the library. The songs work perfectly, but the TV shows which I purchased from iTunes Store will not play whatsoever, even though they are in the library.
When I try to drag them onto my itouch, I get the message, "Title" was not copied to iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod. A couple, but not all of the videos, will crash itunes when I try to play them. At one point I tried 'Create an iPod or iPhone version', but when I did I would first get a message saying 'This application can not be used to play this content. In order to play this content, please open it with iTunes.' and then the message 'Error occurred while converting the file. An unknown error occurred (-50). I also have tried deauthorizing and then authorizing my computer, but it did not work.

Itunes 7.4.1.2 video import issues
The Apple sample QT file can be imported into Itunes and copied to my new classic 160gb no problem but files generated by Videora and/or Xilisoft Ipod video convertor from Xvid/264 sources both fail. They are either ignored by itunes when I try to add them (.mp4 files) or cannot be copied to the Ipod because they are "not in a supported format". As both these products are specifically designed to produce files that are compatible with the IPOD, there is surely somthing wrong with ITunes 7.4.1.2.
Anyone any ideas ?

Videora and other programs that lead us to believe they are "specifically designed" to create iPod-friendly video often don't. I tried Videora's basic iPod mode on half a dozen sitcom AVIs before giving up. None of the resulting MPEG-4 files would import into iTunes. Thank goodness for Pinnacle Studio, whose iPod output setting is simple and perfect.

Videos won't import into iTunes 7
I want to put some of my own videos onto my new iPod video, but I can't put any videos into iTunes. I've tried dragging and dropping, "import" and "add file". And nothign ever shows up. How am I suppossed to put video into itunes that I don't buy from the iTunes store? Thanks for the help.
This also happens with me. I have an Intel Core Duo 17", running iTunes 7.1 with the latest Quicktime, and OS 10.4.4. My movies work great in Quicktime, but won't import into iTunes at all. When I try to drop them on my iPod directly, it tells me that my 5th gen iPod can't display video.
I brought my iPod into work today, and hooked it up to the G5/dual 1.8 tower here, also running iTunes 7, and quicktime (7.1.3 I think?), OS 10.3.9. I was able to drop the videos directly into iTunes, and they showed up fine. I was also able to then put the video on my iPod.
As for the video, I converted them to .mp4 files with a 3rd party converter from .mpg files.
Interested to see what the solution is. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem! -
Video that appears in iTunes but not Windows Explorer crashing iTunes
I added some videos to my iTunes library today, and I tried to sync my iPod. When I connect it, I get the "Updating iPod, do not disconnect" message, but it doesn't say exactly what it's transferring. After a little while, I get the notification that iTunes is crashing and the option to send an error report.
I updated iTunes to 6.0.3 earlier today, and updated my iPod to see if that would fix anything. When it didn't, I checked to see if there was something wrong with any of the videos. I tried deleting the videos, until iTunes crashed again. Whenever I try to delete, or play, or right-click this video, it crashes. I thought that maybe there was a problem with a video, so deleting it through Windows Explorer might have some effect, so I went to where it would be stored, and . . . it wasn't there.
I know that a file being listed in the library but not actually stored in Windows would normally just result in the exclamation-point-in-a-circle icon, but could this be what's causing iTunes to crash? Is there a way to delete something from the iTunes library without actually going through iTunes?Okay, I managed to fix it after uninstalling iTunes and installing an old version . . . but of course, after I had everything up and working again, I ended up causing it to happen again. The upside of that is that I now know how it happened and an easier way to fix it.
The corruption of the file occured when trying to type in an artist on a file whose tag I had modified with iPod TVShow . . . it said "Editting tag", then crashed for the first time, and crashed again whenever I tried to edit that. Though, I found that that can be fixed just by deleting the movie file first through Windows Explorer, and then through iTunes (I didn't see it in Windows Explorer originally because I didn't realize that the re-labeling of the artist never went through, so I looked in the wrong folder, and I wasn't able to use Show Song File in order to see where it was, what with the constant crashing). Hopefully that'll help if anybody else ends up with the same problem.
