Video in is good, but no external video out!

I'm using FCP 6.02 on a Mac Pro with 4 G. My drive is an internal SATA drive. I'm connected to the GL2 with a firewire cord, rear input on computer, to the 4-pin on the GL2. I'm using easy setup DV-NTSC (I also tried firewire basic without success). I had no problem capturing, monitored everything through external NTSC monitor and external speakers. When trying to play clips, I do see them onscreen, but nothing external. I can see and hear everything if I select Desktop Preview. I've trashed prefs a few times and started over. There's nothing on the firewire bus except the GL2 connection, no apps open on computer. Again, everything works fine when capturing. And everything looks right on the computer. But somewhere in between, I am hitting the wall. I sure would appreciate some help with this. Many thanks!

I am wondering if there is some sort of issue with FCP and the Canon GL2? I've looked around, don't see anything. Continuing, I've tried 4 different cords, trashed prefs regularly, FCP sees the camera, and Profiler sees the GL2 and the firewire connection. When I play a sequence, there is nothing on the camera flip-out screen as well as nothing external, though the screen displays "DV IN." Again, capturing is fine, everything external is there. I've been through the standard settings until I'm blue in the face. However no one has heretofore mentioned "make sure your camera is set to pass through the Firewire signal from your Mac through to it's analog outputs (EE mode)." I can't find any mention of EE mode in any manual. Can you elaborate on that? Folks, I've been stuck on this for a week and your help is GREATLY appreciated!

  • I want to play video on my computer to make some analysis to frames, the problem that I face ,I can't change video frame rate using labview, but I can change frame rate to the video out of labview using some program

    HI All
I want to play video on my computer to make some analysis to it's frames, the problem that I face ,I can't change video frame rate using labview, but I can change frame rate to the video out of labview using some program .
I used IMAQ AVI Read Frame VI
for example I have avi video It's frame rate is 25 fbs ,my image processing code is very fast that can process more 25 fbs,so I want to accelerate video acquisition

    Hi abdelhady,
I looked into this further, and reading an AVI file into LabVIEW faster than its frames per second won't be possible. LabVIEW could read in frames faster than 25fps, but because it will be pulling the available frame at that point in time this would just give you duplicate frames. If you want to be able to read in frames at faster than 25fps, you would need to speed up your AVI file before reading into LabVIEW.
There's a good shipping example to show how to read in from an AVI file, "Read AVI File.vi". You'll notice that they add timing to make sure that the while loop runs at the right speed to match up with the frames per second of the file being read. This is to make sure you're not reading duplicate frames.

  • Video out to external display

Hello, Is there a way to get video out to an external display? I currently have a T5, but am getting a TX. Should be the same for each, though. Rregards, Karl

Just a quick FYI...T5 and TX both have a "normal" 3.5mm audio jack.
Video will be a problem though.  It's a shame my cheap little Insignia media player can output Audio and Video via a simple cable.

Im just guessing but it seems like you would have to get your movie into the correct folder on a computer then use iTunes to sync it to your iPad. If you've synced to a computer and have movies then on your computer should be a folder with the movie in it. You could export your iMovie to something like Dropbox then download from Dropbox to the folder you think it needs to be in the sync your iPad again. Again this is just a guess. Others may have a better answer.

  • Video out to external monitor

I have a 30 pin to RCA cable for I phone 4s. But can only get sound to the player.  Any reason it will not show video?  All oss up to date.  We are driving on a long trip and wanted to stream Netflix to a DVD player with inputs.
    Thx

You could get a Canopus box and put the video out firewire to a video monitor that composite video in.
To do this the video needs to be a DV stream.
If the video is the new hi def standard with a framerate of 23.97, you will see picture but it won't be frame accurate sync.
If you have a G5 or a Mac Pro you could get another video card and display the video on that.

  • Audio And Video out of sync in Final Cut, but not in quicktime

I heave searched the forums to no end to find the solution to this issue, unfortunatley, I have not solved the problem.
I am using Final Cut 4.5 on a G4 running OSX 10.3.4. This system has worked perfectly for years with no problems. Neither the system, hardware, or software has ever been changed on this machine. Suddenly last week, despite perfect sync while previewing the capture, the Audio and Video were of sync in Final Cut, but when checked in quicktime, there were no problems. That is how I eventually figured out this was a final cut problem.
By out of sync, I don't mean it is by a specific number of frames that can be adjusted and then everything is fine, the sync seems to drift so that if you edit the audio to be in sync in one part of the video, it won't be at the end. Also, it is out of sync from the first frame played, not a gradual drift.
This is definitely not an issue of frame rates or final cut settings as will be evident by the steps I took below to find the source of this problem.
This is what I did to attempt to fix the problem:
    - Check drives using disc utility and repair permissions
    - Remove Final Cut Preferences using Apple guidelines
    - Switch hard drives
    - Delete Final Cut and reinstall newer version of final cut (since the capture files played fine on Final Cut 5.1 on another machine)
    - reinstall entire OSX 10.3.9, wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Final Cut 5.1
    - switch ram slots, and even replace ram with different sticks from another G4 machine
None of these solutions worked. Is there some hardware problem with my G4 that is suddenly causing Final Cut to play audio and video out of sync?
Hope you can help, otherwise this otherwise great G4 is going in the dumpster!
    Thanks

For what it's worth, I'm having what looks to be the same problem. Driving me insane. Here's what's going on-
    Editing in FCP 6.0.2
QT was just updated to 7.3.1 the other day (hmm)
On an MacBookPro machine, OS 10.5.1
Software updater says everything's up to date of course.
    DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) Advanced Pulldown Removal (footage was shot at 24PA on a DVX100b)
In Quicktime, the file previews fine, everything's in sync, everyone's happy. In FCP, the video and audio are wildly out of sync. I did a test inside of quicktime and sliced out a small portion of the media clip and did a "save as" and this small slice played in sync in FCP. However, this did not work for the entire clip. Clip is weighing in at 5.58GB for a 32 minute run.
I'm trying to multicam 2 tapes together and manually syncing these up is proving to be difficult at best. When anyone gets any ideas/leads/patches, let us know.

Connect the iPod to your computer. Click on the iPod under Devices and iTunes. How large is the "other" category as shown in the colored bargraph? If larger than about 3/4 GB, restore the iPod. That large of "other" indicates corrupted files.

  • Video out to monitor acting goofey!

    Hi
I have the Canopus ADVC-100. FW from MBP and FCE to the ADVC, composit to my TV monitor. Went to Video Out-Refresh Video devices, then checked the NTSC.
Yesterday it was working perfectly. Today the video shows on the monitor but when I hit the JKL keys, the video doesn't move. Just sits there until I hit the K (stop), then the picture jumps to where the timline playhead is.
A week ago it worked perfectly, then this freezing started again. 1 day good, 2 days later bad! I'm at my wit's end.
This really all started when I had my external LaCie HD in the FW800 port and the Monitor in the FW400 port. My eSATA cable and PciE card kept unplugging from the MBP so that's when I put the LaCie into the FW800 port.
Then I noticed that when 2 items were plugged into both of the FW (400/800) ports the FW 400 wouldn't work. Could it be a problem with the controller card in the laptop? That's when I put the LaCie back onto the eSATA, and that's when the monitor strted working right again. But now it's back to it's old tricks
I don't know what else to do and I need that monitor. I tested the Canopus box by plugging it back into my HP and running video out from Vegas. It works fine.
Anything else I can do here?
    Allen

    Hi Martin
Thank you very much. What good is it if you have a FW400 and FW800 and you can only use 1 at a time? That sort of negates even using a FW hub if there is such a thing. Or possibly daisy chaining HD's? Is the Mac Pro any different from the MBP? I have 2 FW HD's and need to transfer files between them. My LaCie and a small portable HD. How's that gonna happen if I can't use both FW ports? Yes, right now I got the LaCie on the eSATA port though but let's assume I need to use both the FW ports! My God! Even my PC's don't work this way. And I want to switch to all MAC's? Hmmmm.
Secondly, after I posted the original message, I happened to re-size my canvas window by making the browser and viewer smaller and as soon as I resized the window the darn thing started workiing! I don't believe this. I'm not shutting anything down tonight! H9nestly! I didn't do anything else except resizing the Canvas window!
As far as your instructions, I believe I mentioned above that the MBP does see the ADVC. There was a frozen still on the TV monitor. It just didn't move until I stopped the timline from playing. Then the TV picture jumped to where the playhead was. I wasn't getting video, just stills.
Now it's working so I'm wondering if there isn't something not right with my MBP? I have the extended Apple Care but I need to get this project done. Another bit of info is that the timeline contains 11 hours of video! But the LaCie on the eSATA seems to be keeping up. All the video files are on the LaCie scratch disk. In other words I can play the timeline just fine. Now we started creating separate sequences for different parts of the video for ease in editing the sections.
Well, tha's all the info I can give you. this is really wierd!

  • Fcp 5.12 - no video out via fw ?

Here's a weird one - everything appears fine.
Had no problems on install -
Logged and Captured clips - dv pal via fw.
Video showing on external monitor when capturing - all good.
Drop clip into tl - nothing showing on external ?
Yes - External Video>All Frames is selected.
Yes - did Refresh AV devices.
    Yes - Rebooted.
Yes - checked in all the other nooks and crannies.
Can't make video appear on my Pvm - Yet when in L&C everything works.
Scratching the old scales here ...
Going to have a try in another app - Motion and AE to see if it's an fcp thing, or QT ...
edit: Okay - I'm getting nothing out in Motion or AE.
Maybe it's a porked qt 7.13 install - I'll try trashing QT receipt and dl a freshie.

Nope - she's plain busted as far as fw out for me.
    Dl'd and installed 7.1.3 again - nothing.
Installed it also onto a backup of OS 10.4.6 and fcp 5.04 - no fw out !
In fcp L&C yup - it works, device control and playback. The moment you close L&C - nothing. No communication.
I tried SimpleVideo OutX and BTv Pro - nope.
The dsr 11 is seen but nothing is going out the port.
I have also tried going out fw 400 using the cardbus 400 port - nothing.

  • 17" iMac G4 no video out

    Hey there all,
I bought an old iMac G4 800MHz to use for iTunes playback at my church and it does a great job at that and it can get song titles because it also has an Airport card(802.11b). I'd also like to send video out from it but, the video out doesn't send. I've tried a VGA>VGA adapter and a VGA>Video adapter but neither works and the adapters are good. Any clues or assistance would be appreciated. If I can't get it to work(reasonably priced repair) it's still good for the reason it was purchased.
    *iMac Specs*
    *17" iMac G4 Mac OSX 10.4/800MHz/256MB RAM/40GB HDD/Airport(802.11b)*
    Thanks in Advance.

Depending on which Apple mini-VGA to VGA display adapter you have,
one of them may work while others may not. The model M8639G/A or
one like it (has different number on original packaging) should work in
applications with iBook G4, eMac G4, PowerBook (some), and iMac G4.
    • *It should work*, if you follow these simple rules: {avoid static charges when handling connector)
    1) shut down your computer completely before connecting the adapter; sleep-mode won't do.
    2) power up the external screen or video projector after connecting the cable and before booting the Mac.
    3) shut everything down before disconnecting the mini-vga adapter.
The part number (on my package) says 603-0607; these fit snug in the
video-out mirror port on an iMac G4. The external display, if supported,
should appear in the Displays system preference panel, where it may
be selected and accessed by the computer. There may be other similar
products that look a lot alike, and may not work in certain computers.
I have the same model as this, and it works with a mid-2005 iBook G4
    as well as a last series model iMac G4 1.25GHz 17" USB2.0.
    Examples:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8639G/A - or -
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Mini-VGA-display-PowerBook-603-0607/dp/B002PXV0S6
The web page images are helpful to show enlarged view of mini-VGA adapter ends.
There are other similar adapters which may fit, but don't have correct connectors.
Not sure of technical differences in those very similar in appearance.
    The adapters may be able to work on any older G4/G5 within standard mini-VGA limits;
and the old http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9109G/A adapter should also work, too.
However, the audio portion of this adapter may not work with the iMac G4; so another
cable setup could be used to provide audio from the headphone jack & other connectors.
(The similar adapter for use with early Intel-based MacBook has different wiring.)
What computer model did the adapter(s) you have, come with? What external video
display unit are you trying to use the adapter and iMac G4 with? There is a possibility
the adapter and/or the display aren't compatible with the iMac G4; or the video-out
port is damaged. However, testing the mini-video out port would require known good
    adapters of the correct type.
Does the System Profiler, and also the System Preferences> Displays show an
attached external display when the connections are firmly made? One or both
should give some clue if there is some kind of connection; unless the port is bad
    or the adapter is incorrect.
Are you going to be using a display or a projector with this? Some products may
require a different input signal frequency than these older computers generate.
Not sure on how else to check or troubleshoot the situation if the peripherals
do match up correctly, and nothing happens. However if an external display
does work but won't appear correctly, there is a third party app freeware able
to help adjust resolution and other settings. At least in OS X: SwitchRes X:
    http://www.madrau.com/SRXv3/html/SRX/About.html
Hopefully some of this helps; at least to confirm the adapter details, and the
basic attachment process usually involved. The System Profiler should have
an indication of a correct connection; if the port or adapter is wrong/broken,
then this would not be a pointer to gauge success. Except by its absence...
For other methods of troubleshooting video, should the machine have an
issue and you need to use an external mirror display to access it, see this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=914904
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • MSI GeForce 3 Ti200 video out freezes

    Hi!
I was testing the composite video and s-video out connectors. In my properties for the GeForce card i can choose between s-video and composite video, but they aren't automatically discovered as connected when pressing that button.
However when i press apply after choosing composite video, my monitor goes black, but i get no signal to my TV. My computer totally stops responding not even ctrl+alt+del will help. I have to press the reset button.
I downloaded TV-tool which i saw someone mentioned in this forum. It works flawlessly using TV tool using composite video(it takes sometime to switch between the monitor and tv but it works).
So as i understand it MSI's drivers or tool for switching between Monitor/video is broken. I have downloaded the latest drivers and tolls with MSI Live update 3, but it still doesn't work.
I'll be damned if i have to purchase a third party product for something that should work out of the box. I mailed MSI support about this and was directed to this forum, so i wonder if anybody else has this problem and found another solution than TV-tool?
I'm running Windows XP with the latest drivers.
    Mats

Judging from the problems I and several other people on the forum have mentioned, there seems to be a problem with the nVidia 45.23 drivers and video. I get a grey screen with vids unless i turn down the hardware accel to almost nothing. Other people can get vid to show on their tv out. So if you havn't tried an older driver version yet, maybe you could use the good old xp driver rollback in the video device properties.
