For your own personal use, you may be able to do this with SnapZ Pro:

Some portions of the game may be copyright, so before doing this for anything other than personal use, check with Halo's maker what is and isn't copyrighted.

  • Home Sharing wont play videos since OSX upgrade to 10.9.3

Ever since I upgraded my iMac to OSX 10.9.3 home sharing hasnt worked properly on any of my devices for video streaming.
I have my iTunes library on my iMac harddisk and prior to the update I was able to play any video content (Movies, TV Shows and Home Movies) on any of my iOS devices in my home: Apple TV2, iPad1, iPad2, iPad Air, iPhone 4S *2.
last week I applied the software updares for OSX and iTunes and sice then I have not been able to play any video content on home sharing!
Mostly the library loads fine, but sometimes the artwork isnt displayed. When I tried to load any of the video content it just never loads an eventuall times out.
Has anyone got any ideas? I have done all of the usual resets and reboots to no avail.

  • IMac crashes running games/videos on OSX and Windows

My iMac crash after 15min-2 hours when I'm using my computer for games and videos. He always crashes on Windows 7 using Bootcamp. On OSX he crashed only 2 times. I have the newest drivers: Bootcamp 4.0 , Bootcamp 4.0 drivers, ... . My graphic-card is nvidia Geforce GT 130 512 MB. When he crashes he freezes and the sound is repeating.

There is a Boot Camp forum, I'd recommend reposting there. Most folks on the iMac forum only work with OS X.

  • LR 5.4 Can't Play or Import Video in OSX Mavericks

I copied several MP4 video files from the Lumix LX7 card to a folder on an external hard drive. However I can't import them into LR 5.4. Furthermore, I now see that LR can't play any video files (all MP4) that are in the catalog. The playbar doesn't even show up.
This problem came up when I upgraded to OS X Mavericks and upgraded from LR 4 to LR 5. So I'm not sure what's causing the issue. Was able to import and play videos before, but they played kind of choppy earlier.
I've since removed all Quicktime plugins (Perian). Made sure I'm using the most recent version of Quicktime (10.3). Repaired permissions and restarted. Still can't play or import video.
I've also reinstalled LR 5.4 and wiped preferences files. Earlier I couldn't import photos & videos, but I paritially fixed that when I removed the video files from the import folder. I was able to get all the images in fine then. The video seems to be the hangup.
In catalog: no video preview image, just grey, no playbar.
In import: generic "camera" preview image, says "Could Not Read Preview"
Any idea what I can do to get LR to play and import videos, or fix the issue?

Incidentally, the videos playback without a hitch in Quicktime. When I right-click on any of the catalog videos and select "Show In Finder," the MP4 plays perfectly in Quicktime.
It just won't play within LR 5.4.

  • Cannot stream video from osx iTunes to XP itunes

This is a frequently discussed topic, but non of the suggested solutions work for me.
Problem: iTunes running on iMac OS X 10.4.9, latest version 7.1.1. Authorized. Has purchased TV show locally. Cannot stream this show to iTunes, latest version, running on XP, on local network.
The reverse works. i.e. a different show on the XP iTunes can be streamed and watched on the OSX iTunes.
I initially had problem with self ripped movies, tried Lostify etc. Same problem. Now I have isolated to "normal" iTunes content, going from OSX to XP, still does not work.
    Any ideas?!
    Thanks,

How can I set a video playlist to play both the songs and the videos (not just the audio from the video)? My 5G ipod would allow both video playback and songs from the video playlist menu. On my 160g classic, I only see/play the videos on the mixed playlists from the video playlist menu.

The 3ivX codec is in your quicktime library folder, normally: root/Library/QuickTime, but I don't think, that Apple encodes their movies with an unsupported codec. Maybe there is another unsupported codec in your library that creates the iTunes-stuttering or the reason for your problem is completely different. I paste here the content of my library folder. If you have anything else in your folder, quit Quicktime Player and iTunes (if they are running) , remove the plug-in and try your movie again in iTunes. Hope, this helps.

  • Video playback in iTunes 7 and 7.0.1: it stutters!

Since I've upgraded to iTunes 7 and now to 7.0.1, all my music videos and tv movies play at 2 (in words: two!) frames per second when played inside iTunes. In Quicktime and also on the iPod (5g) or the TV set with an iPod connected they are playing very fine.
It seems to me that this is a problem with mpg4 because the h264-encoded files play fine in the iTunes application. Is there a workaround to fix this problem? I have over 350 music videos and short fun clips in my iTunes library to synchronize with the iPod and I'll not encode them all again to h264 just because there is a bug in iTunes.
Oh, btw.: At work I use an iMac (Intel) with the same iTunes 7.0.1-library. All the videos (mpg4 or h264) are playing fine there. Maybe Apple is not testing on the G5 anymore?
    Any help or comments appreciated!

  • Problems with folders and applications after SL upgrade

I purchased Snow Leopard and installed on my Macbook Pro everything ran smoothly and very impressed with the changes and extra storage on hard drive I checked thoroughly to make sure all was working and could not find a single problem I have Final Cut Studio 3, Photoshop CS3, Aperture, Iwork 09 and more and have had no problems at all using them. So....
Then feeling secure with Snow Leopard I installed on my MacPro (in exactly the same way which I had previously done on by Macbook Pro!) which I use for my work which has all of the above applications and all of my important documents, pictures, movies, music etc.
I have 4TB of hard drive split on a RAID set up 1 half is for storage of my footage and editing the 2nd half is everything else including applications.
Once the installation was complete and I started to hear the music and video for OSX it then started to go through to open up a new account as if I had just purchased a new computer and was setting it up for the first time or when you erase and install (my worst fear!)
I then in a panic searched for all of my valuable files or applications which I could not seem to find in any of the usual places where they should have been. Then through spotlight managed to find a file I recognised, here is what I have found and I will try to explain.
What used to be the 1st half of the RAID set up which contained all of the system settings, Library, Music and Applications and for general running the system appears to think this is now not used as the main hard drive but it appears to have all of my applications but I am unable to open any of them as if they are not even there.
The 2nd half which was used only for media storage and editing now has all of its existing files plus a system folder and a whole new user file with an application folder, document, system setting etc.
I have tried to just copy across all of the applications to the new working applications folder but they still don't open
I don't know how to resolve this problem and this is what I need an answer to:
Is there anyway to save these applications by dragging some kind of system preference or Library setting across to the NEW main Hard drive?
Do I need to delete all of the applications and reload them all? - VERY TIME CONSUMING!
Being Mac is there anything easy that would reverse whats happened.
Any help/ advise greatly appreciated. Still in a panic so if I don't make sense please ask me to clarify.

However, software updates and the addition of Norton 360 earlier this year ground it to a halt, so I decided to upgrade to 2GB of RAM (and blow out all of the dust that had accumulated inside the tower) last night.  The RAM registered without a problem and the computer was much more responsive; except for getting the beloved 'blue screen of death' within ten minutes of reboot (IRQ_LESS_THAN_NULL problem).
After two hours of these lockups and limited troubleshooting, I decided the software stability warranted using the HP software recovery program, so after using the 'normal' (not destructive) recovery program, I'm now getting the "NTLDR is compressed problem; press CTRL+ALT+DEL to REBOOT" -AND- I don't have an external recovery disk that gets me to an to get MSDOS prompt to try to decompress NTLDR.
Given the system's age, I cannot imagine that I'm the first person to encounter this problem. Any assistance that can be provide is greatly appreciated.
Your hard disk might have gone south (become nonfunctional). Is there a hard disk option in your BIOS?

  • 2nd display won't work - white screen

I know this is an old issue, but I cannot find the answer anywhere on this or other discussion boards. I fixed the problem last year, but I have't had the second montior hooked up until today. I know there was a "sudo chown" type fix for this in terminal mode, but I can't find it.
    help.
    G4 Desktop 500 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

so do you have 2 different video cards driving two different monitors? or is it One video card with 2 displays?
the info you listed isnt very detailed but it does tell me you got an ATI video card with 16MB VRAM.
I assume that thats the Stock AGP 2x graphics card that came the The PowerMac G4 AGP graphics model.
why is your display set to 8bit depth? a stock 2x AGP card with 16MB VRAM should be able to support 16bit or 24bit depth even at 1024 x 768 res.
the info says also Core image not support as well as Quartz Extreme no supported. Which is significant because it could be why the 2nd Monitor doesnt display properly with Tiger.
under 10.2 there were less stringent requirements for driving video.
OSX 10.4 Tiger is much more advanced OS and has higher graphics cards requirements now.
I could be wrong, but I think you may need a newer video card that supports Quartz Extreme and Core image.
hopefully someone else will run by this topic and offer some insight aside from my own.

  • G4 AGP Graphics - 2nd display won't work after upgrading from os 10.2

I have a desktop G4 AGP Graphics with two displays. When I was running os 9-10.2, the second display worked fine, but after upgrading the os (now running 10.4), the second display still works, but has turned gray and pixelated.
When I take a screen shot, the picture shows that both displays appear clear (and in color).
Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any suggestions

  • To boot camp or not to boot camp

I have an older Macbookpro with a 200GB hd (I thought I had 160GB, but it's showing 199.71), with 150 GB currently free. I just upgraded to snoleopard, wiped my internal HD clean, loaded fcstudio2, and have massive backup available so I don't clutter this machine.
My intent is to make this older laptop the field tool for data wrangling; loading and transferring HD video from P2 CARDS, CF cards, etc. I know one person in particular that will want big video files transferred onto his PC formatted drives. I will either need a pc laptop for that, or I'll need to boot camp this macbookpro. I'd prefer to bootcamp it for simplicity sake, but I worry that my machine is old, and I need superior performance in the field with what I have, and I don't want to bog this laptop any more than it already is. Currently, QT is having a real hard time with my HD H.264 files- they stutter so much in QT that I can't check the files before I transfer them to the client. I won't have time in the field to convert to ProRes 442(?) in order to verify that the video is capturing effectively. I've downloaded a VLC player, which seems to handle the H.264 better, but the fact that stuff is already bogging down makes me wonder whether I should stress this machine out any more than it already is.
Do any of you have experience with bootcamp on an older macbookpro, and working with massive HD video files? I don't need to edit much, or do much else, I just want this to be an effective, flexible field tool for downloading and transferring (and verifying) video files in both pc and apple formats.
So, should I boot camp this puppy or not?
And if y'all think that bootcamp won't bog this machine down too much, how do I find the date this machine was built so I can figure out which pc OS is compatible?
    Thanks!
    John

If your computer is "bogged down" now, it will be "bogged down" when doing the same thing in Windows. Bootcamp uses your computer's hardware in the same way your OSX uses your computer's hardware. Just adding Bootcamp in itself won't bog down your computer any more than booting into OSX does. OSX and Windows in Bootcamp don't run at the same time. Whichever OS you boot into will use all your computer's resources.
So if your hardware is not up to task when doing video in OSX it won't be up to task when doing video in Windows (Bootcamp).

  • Dual monitor on older Mac Minis?

    My mini dates to 2005 or so. It's a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 and it's running 10.4.11
I have a Belkin USB thing with a few empty slots and I know that companies like Iogear make USB external video cards (there are no free USB ports on the mini itself. I think I remember finding out that the iogear extrnal USB vid card doesn't work with PowerPC a year or so agi but I never tested it. Anyone have any ideas?

http://www.macsales.com sells a usb video dongle:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/VIDU2DVIA/
I'd suggest contacting their excellent sales support and seeing if it could work in your situation.
(My personal opinion is that your mini is getting a bit old and underpowered. But it still has some resale value. You might consider getting an Apple-refurbished Intel mini that has dual video outputs, OSX Snow Leopard and iLife09 -- and a brighter future -- and selling the PPC model.)
That lack of usb ports on the PPC Mini is likely not going produce the best results with a usb video dongle.
UPDATE: I see that the macsales dongle supports 10.4.11, but requires Intel.
