Video in Presenter

I have several video clips (under 1MB) that have been
converted to SWF using Sorenson's Squeeze. What I got was a SWF
shrotcut to a FLV file. These clips are not "talking heads" but
video intended to be embeded onto the slide itself. Since SWF files
can only be inserted onto the slide itself, I used the shortcut
swf, and have set it to point to the FLV file on a seperate
webserver. No matter what I do I still get a white box and no video
plays.
I know there was a trick to do this but the links (at Adobe
site) on how to do this are broken-go figure. Any help will be most
appreciated.

I found this in the general discussion:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=394&threadid=1213682
but I would like to know if there is a easy fix (copy
&paste) to spead up the process. Especially for someone like me
that does not know how to use Flash.

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

If necessary, post the resultings numbers and we can verify what the next steps to take.

    in Adobe Connect.
    THE PROBLEM
    ============
If you currently use Presenter then you already know that it
has some serious limitations when it comes to using video. Slide
based video must be in SWF format encoded using the old Sorenson
codec. That means your video files must completely load before they
start playing. This leads to long wait times for users; want to
play a 5 minute video? Expect a 2-3 wait time while the movie
loads. Forget longer content like training videos.
The video's dimensions are also limited as quality degrades
    quickly at large sizes.
Adobe will tell you to put streaming flash video in the
presenter panel but this area is tiny and still uses the old codec.
You cannot pause, rewind and fast-forward the content and what
about if your show runs without the presenter panel showing?
If you update your presentation frequently, expect long wait
times as the video files are embedded and must be uploaded to the
server each time you make a change.
    THE SOLUTION
    =============
RefinedVideo is a complete solution to these issues as it
allows you to play high-quality video in fullscreen resolution with
no waiting. Use streaming FLV format using On2 VP6 compression to
provide higher quality at lower bandwidth with almost no wait times
    in most cases.

    All the Best,
    Terry

Ahh, if only that were entirely true!
While you're correct that you can embed flash in your
Presenter files, it's still not possible to use the latest On2 VP6
codecs which is what you need to do if you want high quality large
size video files. Using the Sorenson codec which is what would be
required by your suggestion, means that the video tends to be quite
pixillated and limited to a small frame size, otherwise you end up
    with lots of buffering delays.
Our solution allows you to run fullscreen video of unlimited
length from within Presenter and it works in self-paced
presentations and meeting room environments too.
On the issue of posting information about a product on a
Forum, my understanding of the concept of a forum is that it's a
place for the exchange of ideas and solutions. This forum is
located under the menu item of "Communities" on the Adobe site and
many people come here looking for ways to solve problems and
    exchange ideas.
I've had numerous people contact me saying they have been
looking for exactly this type of solution but have been unable to
find it. It's only spam to you because you have no need for the
solution but to those looking for a way to deliver specific types
of training content, it's exactly what they came to the Forum to
    find.
It's not my intent to offend, only to raise awareness.

  • Having trouble recording a video using Presenter 9, inside PoswerPoint installed as part of MS Office 10, PP version is 14...

The Presenter add in opens up just fine.  I can do most everything with the Presenter tool bar, including recording and publishing audio for the slides, but I get an error message when trying to use the "Video" recording function.  I have a screen shot of the error message if that would help,   But is basically says the "Application encountered and internal Error.  If the error persists, contact someone."  Adobe support is useless on this issue.  Does anyone have any ideas?
I DO NOT have two monitors set up and the button labeled "Use Presenter View" is unchecked.

Check that your video drivers are up to date.

  • Embedded videos from Presenter won't play/sync

I have a couple embedded videos in a PPT that I've published from Presenter to Adobe Connect.  When I get to the slide with the video in the Connect meeting, the section with the video is blank.  However, if I turn off the Sync, I get the play bar and can manually play it, but it does not sync to the group (obviously with sync being disabled).
How can I set it up so I can manually play the video and keep the attendees synced to the video, as well?

    Hi,
You can get the playbar even in the sync mode. Click on share pod's dropdown menu and click on Show Presentation playbar option from the dropdown.
You will then see the playbar similar to what you see in un-sync mode and you can then play the video. Let us know if this did the trick for you!

  • Position Slider for Videos in Presenter Mode

Running Keynote on Yosemite when I open play a slideshow and have a video playing on a particular slide, a position slider will appear if I mouse over the video. However, when I am using a second display in presenter mode and I do the exact same thing to try and trigger the position slide on a video, nothing appears. I am able to see the mouse moving around, but I can't get the slider to come up. Is this an oversight or do I need to modify the settings to allow this to happen?

They should probably get that fixed. Presentation software should facilitate the presentation not generate additional obstacles to effective communication.

  • Live video for presentations

    Hey guys,
i hope you understand my question:
I know, that the Socialize webcam got a feature, you are able to create live videos while a picture / (powerpoint) presentation is running. So you can talk next to the presentation and everybody see you in a small window in the right edge of the video. Does this function run with theOptia AF II, too?
    Thanks for help.

  • Unable to add effects to sidebar video in Presenter

When I import an AVI file as a sidebar video to a slide, I'm unable to assign effects (fade in/ out) to the video. Why is feature not available? I've tried other video formats- MPG, QT, etc.- but still I'm locked out from applying effects.
The Adobe Presenter User Guide states:
    "10-
Effects Specifies the effect, such as Fade In, to apply to the video. "
However, when importing a video into the slide area, only then it seems the effects can be added. Looks like another design flaw, er, "feature" from Adobe.
    My client is not impressed!

I think that when people are unable to add a simple dissolve between two clips it is almost always because they don't have those hidden frames available, and they are often moving to FCP from another editor. As an experiment try shortening the length of the outgoing clip and also shortening the length of the incoming clip. Then close the gap between the two and try adding a transition. If you are applying a transition by clicking on one from the drop down menu, you must first highlight the point where the two clips merge on the timeline. A fast way to add a cross dissolve is to control click the point where to two clips merge and select "add cross dissolve"

  • Videos in Presenter

I have 5 swf video clips inserted into our Breeze Presenter
PPT. They are each around 30-39 megs. Is that why I can't seem to
    publish?
    Ruth

Yup... the entire compiled version needs to be less than 100
MB. That is, the .ppt and .ppc combined cannot be 100MB - as I
think the process of compiling the files will need some storage
space. Therefore, I've limited the .ppt and .ppc files to less than
90 MB - to make certain there's enough space to compile.

  • Best way to sync slides to video in Presenter

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out the best way to do
this. I have an 82MB FLV of a lecture, which I want to appear in
the sidebar throughout the presentation. What is the best procedure
for importing and syncing this to the powerpoint?
At the moment it looks to me like the only thing to do is to
import it on every single slide then use the in/out points to trim
the duration of the video on each slide. Since the trim preview
works very poorly (when you move the current time pointer, it
always jumps back to the beginning!) this is at best an extremely
    tedious process.
Is this something no one else ever needs to do or something?
    Why is it so hard?

  • Screen Capture with Video of Presenter

How do I make a screen capture with a video of the presenter (me). Is this built into captivate? It is simple with Camtasia. I could not find this option in captivate. Does it exist?

Sorry, doesn't exist in Captivate. Perhaps try Adobe Presenter Video Creator.
Sounds like you already have Camtasia, I'd stick with that for this type of work. Actually, if you want full motion video, Camtasia is the better choice, Especially when it comes to the editing process.
Captivate rocks for the slide by slide capturing and creating interactive "video" type output. But Camtasia leaves it in the dust when it comes to the full motion video. Camtasia sucks for creating interactive type videos that Captivate does. Just different tools for different workflows.

  • Powerpoint and video of presenter

Is it possible to use Flash, or any other Adobe software, to
merge a powerpoint presentation with video/audio of the speaker who
used the ppt presentation? What I'm looking for is a way to present
both online (streaming) and on DVD, a window where the viewer can
see (and hear) the presenter (speaker) next to a window where the
    ppt slides change automatically (synchronized).
I've some accross another software, the Softv Presenter (
    http://www.softv.net/Public/presenter4.asp),
which can do what I'm looking for. However, since I already have

that I could use what I already have to accomplish my task.

    kglad,
thanks for your reply. Sounds like this may work, but being a Flash novice, would you be able to direct me to some "how to" documents and/or online video of how I can do this, especially the "load it and your flv into a master swf"?

  • Imported video into presentation with mixed results

I've been able to get videos into Keynote through syncing with iPhoto and making sure to include videos. They play in the slides but eventually stop playing. They flash once like they are trying to start but I'm left with just a still photo. If delete it and insert again it still won't play. I had to import my PPT file again and then insert before the video would play again. However, eventually they refuse to play again. I'm trying to track down the cause but I'm at a loss and I wanted to present at a conference today with my shiny new iPad.

Noticed a possible solution to the video issues on this thread:

  • What to use to create a picture and video slideshow/presentation?

I was curious as to what someone would use in order to create a picture and video presentation/slideshow?
I think that iPhoto does a good job with getting all your pictures in order, and then using the templates and choosing your music to create a slideshow. However, if one wanted to include some video and narration into the slideshow, I imagine that they would need to use iMovie as well.
I know that you can drop images into iMovie as well, and I think they are automatically given Ken Burns effect, but if you have a lot of images, I think it gets pretty tedious working with all those photos, when iPhoto will already do all of that for you.
So, long story short. I would like to make a presentation with video and images. I would like to use multiple songs, and possible trim the amount of each particular song down, so there is some sort of mix/flow from one song to the other. I would also like to be able to record a narration and include it in the slideshow. I know that iMovie does a lot of that...I saw the narration feature, and the ability to trim the songs back some, and include more than one song. It also has the ability to choose only the portion of video that I want. So would you pre-create the photo portion of your slideshow in iPhoto, convert it to a movie, and dump it into iMovie? That seems clunky.
What process would you use? In my mind, I picture using a program that had some sort of timeline in order to be able to fine tune the audio and video, and iMovie has a timeline of sorts.
    Currently running iLife '09.

    Ian
I've been working for the last three weeks on a project like the one you describe. It turns out to be far beyond my limited competence, but I'm committed and have to trudge on.
Mine may be a little different from yours in that it has the equivalent of 106 "slides." There are twenty video. The "stills" are either text I've made in Word and saved to iPhoto as a pdf doc or photos. I've engaged actors to read the text that goes with most of still-slides. I thought I could create individual slides with the sound 'attached,' string them together and then make a movie out of the Power Point or Keynote slide show.
    Nothing has worked so far.
iMovie has been a special heartbreaker. I've had at least a half-dozen chats with Apple Care and a couple of trips to an Apple Store to solve one challenge after another.
I can help with  Ken Burns. Tedious is not a strong enough word, and the 'help' menu is not helpful, because it is Wrong., The controls are NOT the least bit intuitive. In fact, they make no sense - at least to me.
[I gave up on iMovie the first time because of Ken and the absence of intelligible instructions to make him leave.]
    (1) Not finding the control. "Help" says to click on the crop icon on the tool bar (between mic and i) or to type "C". All I get is the crop function - Ken is nowhere to be seen.
    (2) Finding it. The crop icon that should have been designated is accessible when you select a still photo. The hand icon appears; on the left side there is column of three icons. On top is Crop; the middle is the duration for the still - the default default is "4 s" // the bottom icon is the gear. Click the gear; there are four rows of choices; click the one at the bottom  "cropping, Ken Burns & Rotation". At the top left corner there are three boxes "fit | crop | Ken Burns"// select "Fit" and Ken Burns is turned off. Why is "fit" is the opposite of "Ken Burns"? I don't know.
Here's a warning and a sad tale. I spent about three days getting the first 64 still/videos/transitions and audio clips assembled the way I wanted them. The audio for 65 went in okay and it looked okay, but nothing would make it play. 66 was okay but not 67 or any subsequent attempt - although the videos after 67 were okay.
During my final Apple Care conversation the diagnosis was: "corruption." Start over again with a new project!
I could select, copy and paste the visuals in those three moves, but the audios had to go over one at a time. Since you can't have two projects going at the same time, I'd have to copy one audio clip from the old project, select the new project and wait for it to come up, make the paste, and then wait for the old project to come up.
So watch out. I gave up on iMovie because the recreation of a new project would be so agonizing and with such a big project, I don't know how to avoid "corruption" for sure, and neither did the guy at Applecare.  I switched to iPhoto, but after a day I realize that it's audio capability requires a process as tedious as trying to redo the iMovie.
Final Cut Pro is probably the right program but that's a whole other thing.
