Video in Quiz Feedback?

Hi,
I am creating an e-learning course with a digital agent who guides the learner through the course. During the quizzes, I want to have the agent  deliver the feedback. I'm using Adobe Captivate 5, and the agent is being generated from another program that lets me save it out as either a Flash *.swf or as a video in any of a variety of formats. Can quizzes in Captivate have animation or video feedback instead of text? If not, can this be done in Adobe Presenter? Or, can someone recommend a stand-alone tool that can generate such a quiz that I could import into either Captivate or Presenter?
Thanks!
    -Ray

Actually, it turns out that there is a way to have the text that gets input into a Short Answer question saved to a variable so that you can display it on the next slide.
Set up a User Variable to hold the value of the answer (e.g. call it Question1AnswerText) and create an Advanced Action (call it SaveQuestion1AnswerText) to assign the Question1AnswerText variable with cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice system variable.  Then on the quiz question, set the On Success action to Execute Advanced Actions ans select SaveQuestion1AnswerText as the action.  Create a text caption to display on the following slide and set it to display the cpQuizInfoAnswerChoice user variable.
I just tried this in a test project and it worked.  You may need to create two Advanced Actions. One for Success and one for Failure with appropriate Go to Slide settings added after assigning the variable value.  That way, your user can be branched to the slide where the avatar gives the right kind of feedback based on their response.  But either way, the caption on that slide should be able to display their original answer.
If you want an extra feature included in the next release of Captivate, adding notes buried in posts on this forum is not the best strategy.
There's a Feature Request page dedicated to this:
http://www.Adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=5
As well as an IdeaScale site that I set up which is NOT controlled by Adobe and allows you to see what everyone else is asking for: http://captivate6ideas.ideascale.com/

  • Video in quiz / Captivate 5

I'm working on a project with video in quiz.
However  when I click on submit button before video ends the slide won't continue to next slide.
Everything has to wait until video end then I can move on to next step.
Is there anyway that user can anwser the quiz before video ends?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
Once you put a Video on a slide it goes to "Timline" (Bottom of Captivate) so that Slide will have Timeframe (As per the object)
I am supossing the Video is long so in Timeline you will see the duration of slide is dependent of duration of the video.
Even if user submit the answer, slide do not move further because of the duration of slide (duration of video)
So you can decrease the length of Video from Timeline but it is going to affect the video.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • Video with quiz

Hi all, I'm new to adobe captivate. I want to make a video but with quizzes in it. Which means that when I'm playing a video, it will stop at a certain time and a quiz will pop out. I've tried one myself however, it is not working. May I know if there is any sample video with quiz for me to download and test or is there any tutorial for me that teaches me how to do a video with a quiz? Thank you

Will have to repeat, what Rod already mentioned: mp4 is a video format, by definition that can never be interactive, so you will not be able to have quiz slides, because those are interactive. Only output to SWF or to HTML5 can allow interactivity.
You are not able to insert interactive elements (like buttons, click boxes, question slides) in a cpvc because that is meant only to create video, for the same reason we all try to explain to you.

  • Adobe Presenter Quiz Feedback

Wondering if anyone knows why my quiz feedback (using Adobe
Presenter 7.02 and PowerPoint 2007) is blurry after publishing.
Looks good prior to publishing and my question text, etc stays
    clear? Help?

You would need to create the questions in Captivate. The questions don't translate across the products.

  • Clickable links in Quiz Feedback

Is there a way to add Clickable links in Quiz Feedback??

    Hi Gyanendra,
I think the only way you could do that would be to place a click box over the top of your Success or Failure captions and uncheck the option Pause project until user clicks, that way you then just set the On success menu to Open URL or File.
I totally agree that you should be able to include links in captions, as well as *images, this is something I have tried to get implemented in Adobe Captivate for years now.
If you would like to add your support, then please submit this as a feature request using the web address I have included below.
Adobe Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form
    * You can get around the image issue by simply creating your own text captions and including the graphic in the custom caption design.

  • Customised menu slide and customised quiz feedback slide

    Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction as to how I can use Advanced Actions/Variables to produce two things, a menu slide that shows a tick when a section is complete, and a single quiz feedback slide that shows a summary of questions with correct/incorrect.
    Customised Menu Slide
I'm trying to build a menu so that a learner can go into any unit in any order. When they finish the slides in that unit, they are returned to the Menu slide and a tick appears against that unit. There is an example below to give you the idea.
    Quiz Feedback Slide
I'm also trying to build a quiz feedback slide to let learners know which questions they have gotten wrong in a quiz. I don't want to use the Quiz Review function as that shows me the questions and wrong answers. I would just like a summary slide, as in the example below.
For the course menu, I'm using some helpful posts from Lilybiri and trying to adjust her tutorial on customized course menu at http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/855/cpsid_85530.html to show the ticks instead of hiding the unit links. I'm not sure where to start with the quiz feedback slide.
I'm hoping that someone with a bit more experience of advanced actions/variables will be able to step in here and let me know if i'm going in the right direction with this.
    many thanks in advance,
    Loraine

Hey Lilybiri, sorry to revive this thread, but I would like to do this but with question pools? Can that be done? If yes, how...?
My issue with a little more detail: We are replacing the ageing, proprietary content creation solution of our LMS supplier with Captivate. The main purpose of our LMS is not providing learning-courses but testing our users with quizzes.
We are required (strictly governmentally regulated business) to train and quiz our employees on certain topics. So the main functionality used of Captivate, Version 6 btw, is the quizzing functionality. We went for Captivate because it's got the question pool ability which by the newest prescription we are required to deploy in our 2013 line of employee certification tests/quizzes.
After passing a quiz, the old solution gave a very nice overview of the answers given and the correctness of those (see screenshot attached). I'd like to replicate this to a certain degree with Captivate. Notice the screenshot by the way, the old solution got partial scoring which Captivate can also do, unfortunately not when using question pools. Anyway, not the issue here, the issue is the result slide. I have been asked to implement a result slide, similar to the old solution, where all the answers are listed and also a hint if the answer given was correct or wrong (as partially correct does not apply anymore, now that we are using question pools) because the user has then jump to that slide and review and discuss it with the teacher/test supervisor of that day.
We have a total of ~60 questions in 6 pools. 25 get picked, at least 3 out of every pool, smallest pool has 6 questions. So how can I track a) which question has been picked and displayed to the user b) as which slide number/at which position and c) which answer was given, in this highly shuffled, dynamically created environment? It's not like I can make a result slide with 60 lines and mark each line as either unseen, correct or wrong and maintain 60x3 variables during the quiz. Any ideas?
Of course, the user could just review the whole quiz and quickly skip all questions answered correctly and discuss the ones the user failed. But this somehow doesn't seem right and unprofessional, especially since the old solution could do that since years. At least a hint which questions the user got wrong would be the minimum expected...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Email quiz feedback

    Hi all!
Is it correct that the email quiz feedback is supposed to
only produce the email and not send it automatically? This gives
the students a way to edit the email before they send it and that
    can't be right.
Another thing is that the option to send the result as an
attachment does exactly the same as the only other option: Puts the
result into the email body without any attachment.
Anyone else experiencing this or have a workaround?

    Hi again
I'll have to defer to someone more knowledgeable than myself
    for the infinite quiz bit.
Here is what I'm envisioning for what I'm working on. Once
complete, I offer a package that contains mostly instructions on
what you need to do to set up reporting via E-Mail in a secure
fashion. I'm not seeking any monthly fee or anything like that. I
was thinking more along the lines of a one time purchase. Perhaps
somewhere in the range of $40 - $80 or whatever. A one time shot
that spells out what you need to make it work. If you have a server
already that can understand CGI scripting and send E-Mail from a
script, all the better. You just install the script, configure
things and off you go. But for those that have no capability along
those lines, there is a service that could be used. Any and all
fees for said service are between the Captivate developer (or
company paying the developer) and the service. I would be out of
the picture at that point. My only role is to offer the means for
securely sending E-Mail from Captivate. So the question I was
looking to answer was to ask if that price would seem reasonable.
If not that price, what would?
Yes, I could certainly just make the solution available at no
charge. Anyone that has looked at these forums more than an hour
knows that this is how I operate 99% of the time. But this
particular thing has been a bit of effort to pull together, so I
wanted to put feelers out to see if it would hold any financial
enticement or if folks would balk, regardless of price.
I've seen the whole E-Mail issue crop up enough here that I
began to see if alternate ways could be used.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Quiz Feedback Options in Captivate

    Hi all,
I have a problem in showing the feedbacks for a quiz(Multiple choice with multiple answers(Eg: Answer - A and C). I wanted to show feedbacks for each wrong attempt made by the user, until the user select the correct answer. I mean I have to show multiple incorrect feedbacks for all the multiple wrong attempts made by the user. Is this possible? If yes, please guide me through.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Warm Regards,
    Mathi.

That is not something to be explained in a few words. I have no idea about your experience with Advanced Actions? Have a look at those blog posts, where I explain the functionality of question slides.

Question Question Slides - Part 2 - Captivate blog
The easiest way for me would be by using custom question slides. And then there is the problem of reporting: do you need reporting to a LMS?
    Which version are you using?

  • Cap 6.1 - Error with .flv videos in quiz

I have 5 .flv videos in a quiz and they used to work flawlessly. I had some install/uninstall/subscription issues and inadvertently updated captivate from 6.0 to 6.1 (dont know if this is the issue) and ever since I have had errors.
The error is easily noticable in preview mode as the video overtakes the quiz and doesnt let you see any of the quiz questions. When I publish to Adobe Connect (the quiz is for an elearning webinar) everything works fine except for 2 major errors: 1. You cannot interact with the video skin (ie play/pause/playbar/etc.) 2.There is a "full screen" option in a connect pod that is sharing a file, if you click this the video goes full screen and only goes away with the esc key, once it goes away the "submit" button no longer works so youre stuck and cannot complete the quiz.
I can send the file to anyone who wants to take a look, the error should be pretty evident when you preview. If you preview in captivate, the video shows up and blacks the quiz out, if you preview in web browser it gives you the issues that I have in connect. I believe they are the same errors in different formats.
As a temporary workaround I have:
-removed the skin and just looped the video to remove any interactivity with the video
-instructed the presenter/host to advise the 40 person elearning class to NOT press "full screen" under any circumstances
However I am still looking for a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a class that starts at  7 ET/4 Pacific
    Thanks
    Corey Hammond

Once I got the project all set again, previewed successfully both in captivate and in web browser, I went to publish in connect. When publishing in connect it gave the same error I had a month or so ago:
"Failed to publish your project to the Adobe Connect Server. Verify your network connection and try again"
    (see my other thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5510327#5510327)
Now this was frustrating coming across this again when I thought this problem was solved a while back. I went into a chat session with an adobe support person and screen shared and his conclusion was that a couple slides were problematic. I again scrapped the whole file, re-did the project, and published to connect. It worked and I had successful publish. The problem? I went to test it in connect/preview/web browser and it has the same bug as before (as mentioned in the first post of this thread). Needless to say, I almost threw my computer out the window.
I have now gone full circle TWICE experiencing both issues at opposite ends of my laps and it is starting to get frustrating. I am thinking it is a bug, might never have a solution, which is disheartening.
Anyone willing to take a stab at it is welcome, im at my rope's end...

  • Insert specific image + text to quiz feedback

    Hi,
Within Captivate quiz, I know there is a facility to offer text feedback to the learner dependent upon the option clicked by the learner after the Submit button is depressed.
However, is there a way to include an image too? So if a learner clicks the Correct option, they see a message saying (for example) "Well Done" as well as Image01. And if they click an Incorrect option they would probably get a text message saying "sorry, the option is incorrect" along with Image02.
In the straightforward setup, it seems that only text can be entered.
Any help will be most appreciated.
    Many thanks
    John
PS: I use Captivate 5 but Captivate 4 is not much different, so any help from those who use Captivate 4 too is welcome.
    Thanks again.

    Hello again
Actually, the feedback captions are composed of a couple of elements. The text you type and a background image. You are able to remove all text leaving behind the background image. You are also able to choose any image you like for the background image. You just browse to it and choose it. You will likely have to adjust the size of it after choosing an image.

  • Can I stop the slide audio (text to speech) when a quiz feedback caption with audio appears?

Hi there, We use text to speech on all our slides, however there is a problem we have been unable to solve.  If we have audio on a quiz slide this continues to play when the feedback caption comes up.  This means that if a learner clicks the answer quickly they hear the slide text and the caption text on top of each other.  How can I stop the slide audio if the feedback caption appears.  We have tried advanced actions to "stop triggered audio" and experimented with invisible text captions that have the audio added but have not solved it so far.  Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Any help gratefully received, Many thanks Janet
PS We are using Captivate 8 with the installed Text to Speech voices

This is currently a common problem with audio in quiz slides of Captivate modules.
The configuration options for interactive objects on quiz slides to not allow the same level of control for audio playback that you have with normal interactive objects on other slides.  (e.g. being able to stop other audio when something is clicked).
The Stop Triggered Audio action is often misunderstood.  But as its name clearly indicates, it really only applies to stopping an audio clip that was TRIGGERED by another advanced action.  That doesn't apply to background audio, slide level audio, or object level audio.
My suggestion is that you go back to your design and work out which of the two audio clips (the slide or the feedback audio) you can do without.  Maybe your learners don't need them quite as much as you think.

  • Quiz feedback slides

I would like to include feedback slides with my current quiz slides but do not see a feature that allows me to do this.  If the viewer gets the question wrong on the quiz I would like a feedback slide or just feedback to pop up with more information.  How do I do this?

    Hello and welcome,
You can use the Failure captions, they can be totally customized, to provide feedback. If you allow multiple attempts on question level, you can even have up til 3 Failure levels, and each Failure caption can be different.
For MCQ slides with one possible correct answer, you can also use Advanced Answer options to provide different feedback for each wrong answer. You get access to that Advanced Answer feature in the Properties panel (not in the Quiz Properties panel, reason why I always advice using the Quizzing workspace) when you select one of the answers.

  • User Interfaces of video editing software, feedback needed

    Hallo,
my name is Wolfgang, I'm a student at OvG-University in Magdeburg, Germany. Me and my team are researching user interfaces of video editing software.
As a part of this, we created a small online survey [1], mainly targeted at professional cutters (amateurs are welcome too, though). It is pretty basic for now and shouldn't cost you much of your time.
Please consider participating in it as it would provide us with valuable data needed for our research.
I found no indication in the terms of Use that posting a non-commercial survey is prohibited. Still, if this message is considered spam, please excuse my mistake.

  • Problem with end-of-Quiz feedback...Captivate 5.5

I've created a short course with a quiz.  At the end of the quiz, i would like to have the learner go to one of two slides (one for pass - the other for fail).  From the "pass" slide, I would like them to click a button where a PDF certificate will open.  The "fail" slide will let the user review the content of the course.
Currently, my file will show the "pass" slide, but will advance to other slides when the button is clicked to print the certificate.
Thus far, the "fail" actions are acting as expected.
Can anyone give me suggestions of how I can fix my file?

Select the slides you want to hide in the Filmstrip, use the right-click menu to hide them. But it is not possible to show a slide by an advanced action, here I do not know what is meant at all? You can skip a slide using a statement Jump to, but a hidden slide will simply not been included in the published version, no way to get it back once the SWF (or other output) is created.
Another remark: be very careful with actions executed 'On exit' because they will only be done if the last frame of the slide is also reached. That is not always the case, if you have an interactive object that has Success/failure actions to go to another slide the last frames after the pausing point of that object will never be visited and the On exit action not be executed.
