Converting and storing videos and slideshows to/in MAC

i am trying to figure out where to store my videos and slideshows (i use Aperture) but before i get there i am noticing that i am getting an error on some of my file types and also that i have a lot of different file types.
does anyone know how to fix this error or why it is coming up?
does anyone know a convenient way to convert these various file types so they are Mac friendly and if so what software and command to use?
i have EPS, PDF, mov, mpg, mp4, m4v and wmv etcetera
ideally i would also like to STORE these in one place if at all possible.
i currently have Aperture and Adobe Bridge.

How to not show videos in slideshow

Hi. Just updated to iphoto '09, and I notice that when I play a slideshow for an event, it also plays the videos embedded in the event. iphoto '08 skipped over these. Is there any way to make iphoto '09 do that as well? I like just showing the photos when I want to quickly view a slideshow. Thanks!

so I'll need to move the videos for each event to it's own seperate event in order to play a slideshow without them, correct?
Or make Albums without them. For instance how about a Smart Album like
File -> New Smart Album
Event -> Contains -> Name of Event
+
Keyword -> is not -> Movie
Will find all the photos in that Event and not the videos.
I think a meaningful update to the product would be to have a slideshow setting where you could check or uncheck a box that said "play videos in slideshow," don't you agree?

Adding audio to a Video CD slideshow using Toast

I have been able to create a Video CD slideshow using Toast Titanium 7.0. Has anyone successfully been able to add audio to a VCD slideshow? If so exactly how did you do it. The Toast help files were no help. They instructed me to use the application Motion Pictures which comes bundled with Toast. I was able to create a slideshow with audio with this application but could not figure out how to import it into Toast.

Database organizational tool for videos and slideshows and movies? (mac)

hi all,
i am a mac user who recently purchase Creative Suites and i am on a long march organizing my files into databases now that the office is set up and i am on Mac. i have one major remaining difficulty i am really hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.
i am trying to see if there is software or a database that would let me organize my videos/slideshows/movies etcetera.
since i have ported to mac from PC i am seeing the following file types in my "video + slideshow" folder: wmv, pdf, 3gp, avi. mov, mp4 and m4v - which is where i have temporarily gathered up all this information. my recollection is that these were either downloaded from the internet, created on some PC software or created using Keynote, Aperture or iPhoto. i am currently using Aperture to store my images.
i am also going to post on the mac forum but if there is an adobe product that does this exceptionally well i would be happy to buy it.

thanks. apologies in advance for the long post and slightly off-topic explanation. i am trying to organize things a little better and right now i have way too much data and not enough help organizing it. basically i am trying to move to a database management workflow because there is too much to remember in terms of where my data is. also - it is not LINKED together very well and the workflow to produce the final product is a little disjointed. basically i don't mind using Spotlight to search for files to get it all organized but once i find all my data i would like to get it linked up in a way that is better than dropping it in folders.
can i please ask you how you /use/ bridge then? i mean, right now i am /exporting/ files from my IMAGE database and putting these into folders and then getting these files into the Photoshop (editing), Illustrator (raster work) and InDesign (formatting and linking) workflow. so now i have bulk files that were used to create InDesign posters (for instance). but this means that there is no organizational feedback to my IMAGE DATABASE in Aperture. i simply store the files in there and then i /export/ them to folders. the folders have organized images for each project and they have all the data associated with the project but this does not translate back to my image database unless i were to then go ahead and IMPORT the exported images from these folders and create a /new/ Project for these images which were used in this particular project.
do you know what i mean? i mean i have a database that organizes my images but then i use them external to this database and i am not going to /manually/ go through the database and TAG the images so i know they were used in so and so project. conversely - it seems like it is asking a lot of me to TAG the images before they go out of the database since i am /working/ and to keep track of all the data i am exporting to the desktop on the chance that i may use it - by TAGGING it for the project so that i can tell what was used in this project by looking in the database - just seems unworkable.
i mean, i have thousands and thousands and thousands of images and i have hundreds of projects and i am trying to figure out if there is a slightly better way to keep all this linked together in some way. right now my IMAGE DATABASE is basically divorced from my PROJECT FOLDERS.
i know that sounds off-topic but this also applies to my videos and slideshows and presentations. right now i have IMAGES organized in Aperture and i use these in a slightly more organized way because i am (now) preparing slideshows in Aperture so i have to organize the images in Aperture. but if i create a KEYNOTE presentation i am /exporting/ the images to the desktop, possibly re-arranging them, storing them in a folder and then creating a KEYNOTE presentation.
all of this seems very hinky and there is also the added problem that i have duplicated my images in many cases with some stored in Aperture and some stored on the desktop when i need them for a project.
i was hoping there was some pro that could tell me - "well, what i do is that i store the files in Lightroom, bridge them lets me see them when in am in Photoshop or AI or InDesign, then i OPEN the file from within Photoshop, edit it and Lightroom SAVES THE EDITED FILE and then i go into InDesign and bridge lets me see the files in Lightroom and i LINK THE EDITED FILE to my InDesgin poster and Lightroom automatically stored all the images for this poster in a dedicated folder for this project.
you know what i mean? i mean, if there was some linked aspect to bridge-LR-AI-PS and InDesign that let me avoid all this exporting from Aperture i would be really happy. then if i could store the resulting ID file or Presentation or Video or whatever with some kind of LINK to the original data this would be a huge improvement over here.

Video + Picture slideshow DVD & Subtitle issues

Hello All,
I am making this family video and slideshow DVD to distribute among the family members. I know how to make video DVD out of shot footage but I am struggling hard to make such hybrid DVD where I can put video footage as well picture slideshow.
I checked out slideshow function in iDVD but it only allows pictures in one folder and I have multiple folders of pictures and I would like to be able to switch between these folders when I watch this slideshow on DVD player.
I tried to make iPhoto albums but there I couldn't make subfolders so I got stuck there and can't try importing from iPhoto5.
Anybody has idea how I can do this?
Also, I would like to add subtitles to movie as well as pictures. Any comment on subtitles is also welcome.

I understand Your questions but can't figure out a way to do exactly as You
want it to be done. I would instead make my SlidShows as movies in iMovie
and combine them into one iDVD disk. This is fairly simle and the quality is
much a personal issue. It's OK for me.
When I've done my movies (as individual iMovie projects) I drop the project
icons into an open iDVD theme (just inside the edge of the theme window).
Then rename them in the theme window and adjust the titles location so that
it looks nice. If You want You can also add a folder for Your photos (to be
used by Your family in their computers).

Storing and converting videos and slideshows (Mac OS)

hi all, new user here.
i have a host of files with some coming from my PC days and am currently using Aperture to store and create m4v and mov files.
right now i have AVI, mpg, mp4, PDF etcetera etcetera that i am trying to organize. when i doubleclick on some of these files they open in AME and i am guessing this means that i need to associate the file type with some other software or if i should convert them to a more convenient format such as mov or m4v which Aperture recognizes. so right now these files are just sitting in a file folder in various formats since Aperture does not appear very good at recognizing some of these video formats.
i would like to /store/ this data in a database or in software that will allow me to get it all organized and i am wondering if Bridge is a good place to do this or if user recommend LR or if there is in fact an adobe product to get this data organized.
i think ideally i would put all images and slideshows and videos in one place but i am guessing this means i would have to convert my videos to some file format (say mov or m4v for Aperture) so i am also wondering if this is a good way to go and if Adobe Media Encoder is the proper tool for this.
any sage advice is really welcome.
P.S. i also have PDF and EPS which both don't seem to play nice with aperture.

Although there sometimes are problems with certain video files Bridge is the correct application to start for organizing your files. You can use the filter panel to only show certain file types, you can rename, rate and label the files, etc etc.
Some video files should be able to play in the preview window. It pays multiple pages PDF also in the preview window although there can be problems with PDF from InDesign showing all content.
You can use the folder panel for easy drag and drop files in different folders.
Anyway, before experimenting make sure to have a proper back up of your files and then start playing around freely to learn more about Bridge.

Trying to make imovie incorporating trailer, video and slideshows

i am trying to make a video in iMovie starting with a trailer, then a movie (video clip), then a slideshow, another movie, another slideshow, another movie, then my last slideshow. I burned a copy, but it won't play continuously. I have to keep going back to the menu to choose the next section. How can I set it so it goes from the trailer right into the movie then into the slideshow, etc.....?

i didn't mean to say iMovie. I meant to say iDvd. I have finalized the trailer as an imovie and I have exported the slideshows into itunes and dragged them into my iDvd. They are all there and will burn just fine, I just don't know how to get them to play continuously without my intervention when they burn!!!!

How to add video to slideshow?

I am new to Photoshop Elements 9 and Premier Elements 9. I created a slideshow of still images and have old family movies converted to DVD that I would like to incorporate. I used MPEG_Streamclip 1.2 to convert the VOB to avi, I inserted the avi into PE9 and now I would like add a few 30 second sections to the project. Is this possible and if it is can someone please give me some tips.

I'm not quite sure what to tell you, kabrice. You really pretty much just put the video on the Premiere Elements timeline. There's not much more to it.
If you can tell us how you created your slideshow, that might help us help you. It also might help to know the specifics of what you're trying to do. For instance, do you have a completed slideshow created in the Elements Organizer that you'd like to break apart so you can insert video into it?

Flash Video (FLV) Slideshow & ActiveX

I added a FLV video to my index page. It is a slideshow I
created in Photoshop Premiere and then exported as an .flv. I have
not published this site yet (may be that is my problem, but I don't
want to publish until I know for certain). Each time I preview in
different browsers, iExplore pops up a Active X warning. Safari and
Firefox are fine. I don't want the people viewing the website to
have to click through 3-4 warnings just to view the first page on
this website. I have been trying to research this issue online and
all I could come up with was that I might need a file named
AC_RunActiveContent.js. But, all the commentaries say Dreamweaver
will insert this file. Well, it didn't, so I am assuming I don't
need it!! Do you know how to make the ActiveX pop up go away. (I am
a newbie, so please use "simple" language!) Thanks!

podcasts have a setting that only iTunes can access to put files into podcast folder. The only reliable way to get podcasts into podcast folder it by downloading with iTunes.

Trouble inserting video inside slideshow widget

Hi there,
I am trying to add a youtube video inside the Lightbox widget. I have tried using the social widget/youbube and using the iFrame code from the youtube video and placing it inside the slideshow widget.
I followed an older tutorial online, but I can't seem to make this work using Muse CC.
What I want to do is create a small button, which in this case would be a small dot instead of the thumbnail, then once clicked a video would open.
If anyone can help me solve this I would be grateful.

1. Select the Basic Composition widget. (see attachment)
2. Make sure 'Hide All Initially' is checked (modify any other options like fill outline etc.)
3. Select the YouTube widget and slide it into the Basic Composition box. See attachment (box outline will highlight in blue to indicate the widget is inside)
4. Make sure 'Auto Play' is checked in the YouTube options.

IPad 2 and Apple TV video and slideshows

I have an Apple TV that works well with Netflix or showing photos from my iPad or iPhone. But if I try to stream a slideshow or a video from my iPad, MacMini, or iPhone, all I get is the first image and a whirling wheel and the slideshow or video never plays.
I am using an Apple Airport Extreme and a Airport Express to extend the network. We have 2 iPads in the home, plus 3 iPhones and 1 iPod Touch. Is the network just overloaded? Is there something I should do to correct the network?

Note: not all apps are enabled for airplay. Now if you're referring to the Photo and iPod app those should work. Have you tried restarting the apps? Rebooting the device? I assume both are on the same network?
