Video in trash?

Yikes...desperately need some help! All set to work on my master's project when I found my project to be gone in FCP. Somehow all my video is in my Trash can. I am a nervous wreck trying to remedy this situation but have little computer knowledge when it comes to navigating on a Mac. How can I restore my project? I took my clips out of the Trash and are now filling up my desktop. I double-click on them which boots FCP but I have almost 40 clips on my desktop and they are all out of order. I don't understand. I did install a maxtor external hard drive. Could this have something to do with it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Yes, you can.

How do u recover videos from trash on ipad

There is no trash to recover from on the iPad. If by some chance you have a backup that contains the videos that you deleted, you can restore video from the backup - assuming that the videos were in the camera roll on the iPad.
Read this for more information. It explains how to restore from a backup.
    iOS: How to back up
It may keep the data in iPad but it depends on the device, because it is running all the time. But it can try to find the data.

  • Photos and videos in Trash

Today while making a slideshow in iMovie, I removed some photos from the slideshow and sent them to the trash.  For some reason, a bunch of other photos and videos also went to the trash.  Photos and videos randomly and are not connected to today's project. I see them still in iMovie so if I empty the trash, will they all disappear from iMovie?  Will they disappear from my Mac completely?

How did you export them out of iPhoto?  Did you use the option Kind = Original?
What system and iPhoto versions are you running?  Where is your library located?

  • Retrieve video from trash

I accidently deleted a video from imovie and it went to the trash. I'd like to rertieve it from the trash and save it. I can't seem to do that. Anyone know how?

I do have Time machine but when i tried to retrieve it from there it would only give me imovie, not the actual movie. I must be doing something wrong because it's the actual movies that I'd want to retrieve if anything was lost from my laptop.
I was finally able to drag what I lost from the trash file and drop it in iphoto. Then it showed up in a folder in imovie as an iphoto folder. I don't get it but it worked.
        Thank you for your response.

  • External Video Is blinking GRAY!

So I have been using the pass-through on my camera to view my video on a t.v., and one day the video starts to blink gray, and drop frames with every video that i have pass through to the TV. I have tons of videos that i've captured and played back on the iMac (in the VIEWER), and they all play back fine, it's just the external video that blinks gray and audio drops. I checked and unchecked video mirroring, trashed preferences, I'm really stuck. (I'm working with plain DV).

If the rendered version plays fine, there is nothing wrong with your cable.
If the unrendered file does not play fine but a rendered version does, there is either a sequence mismatch, your render cache needs to be cleaned out or you have corrupted FCP preferences (maybe not the last item but who knows ...)
Have you tried to force a render of the plain version just to verify it does not need it? (also, turn off 'mirror on desktop' to reduce cpu overhead when playing out to firewire.)
Have you deleted renders and started over?
    Have you deleted FCP preferences?

  • Thumbnails for Video Clips

Is there a way to create video thumbnails that are hyperlinked without having to create a screen cap of the video?

Trashing iMovie's preference file may fix problems with iMovie. The file can become corrupted under some circumstances.
Go to the Home (your User) folder Library/Preferences (not the Library folder at the top level in Macintosh HD). If you are on Lion (10.7.4) or Mountain Lion (10.8.1), the Home Library folder will be hidden (unlike earlier OS X versions). To access it, click on Go in the Finder menu bar, then press and hold down the Option key - the Library folder will appear in the drop down list, enabling access to it.
In the Home/Library/Preferences folder, locate a file named "com.apple.iMovie7.plist". This is the preference file for iMovie '08. With iMovie closed, drag this file to the Desktop. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh preference file with the default settings. If iMovie now runs OK, you can change these settings in the menu item "IMovie>Preferences" as desired.
Also, it's now safe to drag the old preference file to the Trash. Trashing the file will not harm your existing Events or Projects but may fix the problem you are experiencing.

  • Problem with imovie 08 deleting videos

I am having trouble deleting my videos from imovie 08 after I have rejected the video it will not allow me to move rejected video to trash.  Can anyone give me some help with this issue???
    Thanks!

    Hi
Did You try - ctrl-click on project and events and from fold down menu select Move to Trash ?
If this doesn't work then I guess that iMovie pref. file got corrupted. Trash it and let iMovie make a new one and it usually works.

  • Can I use Time Capsule for iTunes Library?

I have a Macbook Pro, an Apple TV, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones at home. Just bought 2TB Time Capsule today.
My kids purchased a lot of movies/TV shows from iTunes store, and it is building up lots of space in my MacBook. I also like to rip my CDs into Apple Losses Format to enjoy on my iPhone.
My Macbook is running out of space, I wonder if I can point my iTunes Library (Music, Videos) to Time Capsule. In other words, I hope to have access to my Music library whenever my iPhone is connected to my MacBook, and most importantly, the kids will be able to access their movies/TV shows from Apple TV / iPads.
Could someone please advice how to do that? Thanks!

    Thanks!
Bob, if you don't me asking some details - if I will buy an external harddisk to store my itunes library:
1). Does it mean everytime I open iTunes (or before I connect any device), I have to ensure the external harddisk is connected vis USB?
2). Say I have some 50GB of data on my MacBook. If I modify Preference/iTunes Media Folder Location, will all the data be "moved" to the external USB drive automatically?
3). When we talked about "moving iTunes Media folder", does it include everything (i.e. my iPhone, iPad, backup, apps, etc), or it is just Music/Books/TV Shows/Movies?
Shamefully speaking, I might be a stupid dad - I used iPhotos to import all pictures/videos from Digital Camera, iPhones, iPads for a year, until last night I installed Aperture 3. I selected a folder "Pictures" and clicked Import from iPhoto Library, then I was shocked ....my Macbook HDD space shrinks from 40GB free to 1.29GB and still shrinking....as a result I had to move some of my music, videos to trash (to free up another 20 GB of space). Until Aperture finished importing all photos, I had only 2.5GB free
This morning, the first thing I did is to buy a Time Capsule, and try to free up spaces on my Macbook

  • Another ENCODING PROBLEM... Please hellp!

    Hello....this is a long one...gets some coffee.
Many of you have no doub't seen the movie "Ground Hog Day" with Bill Murry. Great movie. Well, in fact, the sequel is being made right here in front of my very own computer screen, with me waking up every morning with the same iDvD problem. I'm now in the 5th day. The only difference, I haven't come to the part where I kill myself, but it's not far away.
I have been editing a project for 3 weeks now, and finally finished the editing part in iMovie HD 5.0.2. Last Monday, I started the iDvD encoding to make a disc. And for some reason, it will not encode. It just sits there for hours and hours and hours (6 or so to be exact) I have tried, and re-tried the process using many different ideas to the possible cause. I have scowered the internet, and thought I had some good leads as to the fix, but still nothing. It just sit's there.
Now, I have authored and made DvD's before, and no problem. But those projects weren't as big as this. However, they encoded and burned fine.
Actually, the first time that I sent this file to the iDvD program to start the encoding, did the blue progress bar start to move....but only after a looooong wait. It got 3/4 of the way through, and all of a sudden .... it stopped, closed out, shut down, went to heck and everything else. A friendly message came up saying "iDvD unexpectedly quit."
I figured that out, without them telling me. Since then, I can't even get the blue progress bar to show up.
I have a G4 mirrored tower (duel 1GHz 1MB L3 per and 80 g drive, and 768 ram. The movie has been edited down to 58min, 35 seconds and 15 frames, from over two and a half hours of imported video. The left over video was trashed to create more space of 25.6G of which is now available before I sent to iDvD.
I am trying to burn to a 4.7 disc, and no longer use the best performance setting, but the best quality setting. That didn't help. I tried deleting the assets. That didn't help. I tried throwing away the idvd preferences, re-starting, and re-authoring the project. That didn't help. I've tried a local psychic (they've never worked for me - why did I do that?).
This movie is a wedding with a ton of effects, transitions, edits, music, etc. The whole project folder weighs in at 22.67G, and 21 chapters.
Some suggestions to me, get more than 768 ram, and some say I need more storage space. A local college teacher tells me that I have plenty of storage space, and thought that 768 ram should do the trick. What the heck?
One thing I noticed today: I checked the thing called console log, and there are what looks like several hundred entries like this:
2006-04-22 22:53:20.974 iDVD[390] playlist track 12 contains bad track id
    and a few like this:
2006-04-22 23:55:53.367 iDVD[480] Path (null) given to -[NSWorkspace iconForFile:] is not a full path.
Is this some kind of clue as to what's going on?
One other thing: The video was originally shot in analog, then converted. Someone suggested the time-base signal may be different. But I have shot analog before with no problem.
I just don't have enough time and knowledge in this area to continue a never ending experiment to find out why this particular project will no longer encode or burn.
I have done everything I can think of, short of dumping the whole imovie project folder and starting the editing process over again. That is not an option. I have to deliver this next week, or, or... I will have to move to a nearby cave. I guess I could go out and buy a whole bunch of ram and extra space, but if I don't need to, I don't want to.
Please help! And thanks in advance to anyone!

  • Systematic and Never Ending Problems With Elements 7

Alright I'll start from the top:
I bought this software via the website a year ago.  Since the very beginning I've had issues that have NEVER been resolved despite numerous sessions with the support personnel.
I download the software (after paying the over $100 for it) and discovered that I was given an incomplete version.  Naturally I was heated.  I've tried on at least 3 different occasions to have this rectified by the Adobe personnel who have tried, but always failed to solve the issue.  That's the biggest problem.  On to the others.
Now, when I go to make a movie, the sound i've recorded from the clip (i use Fraps version 3.2.2, yes the PAID for version) never is allowed to transition over.  The clip is without audio when I add it into the software.  The only work around I have for this, is that I export the clip via Windows Movie Maker and then add it into Adobe Premeire.  Naturally this DESTROYS the video quality.
Third problem, the final quality of the videos I create is very poor. We're talking just NASTY.  I can view the clips just fine and their quality is top notch before I export them out of the program.  The moment they hit my desktop, well, they look like shark chum bait fed through a paper shredder.
    Here's an excellent example:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHJsf1ucajQ
Now, I know the quality on that video is trash because I had to export it through Windows Movie Maker to keep the game sound effects on the clip and then export it via Adobe.  But, even on clips that purely adobe, that i've sacrificed the sound for, they look like trash.
Honestly, if i'm going to spend money on software I want my moneys worth.
I've been asked by scores of people (everyone knows I make and edit movies as a hobby) if I would recommend software for them to use; I've stopped recommending adobe.  My entire experience with this software and company has been decidedly lackluster.  I'm posting now after a year because I'm simply fed up.
I wanted to check and make sure it's not something I'm doing wrong.  Considering that I paid for a complete version that Adobe miraculously never provided to me despite numeroues attempts, I thought that might have something to do with it.
So, online community, if you have words of wisdom, please share them.  If not, I'd recommend moving to different software.

    Fed Up Customer

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you found it rather late in the game. Let's look at a few points:
I download the software (after paying the over $100 for it) and discovered that I was given an incomplete version.
Because of the size of the program, and also the Functional Content (the extra Menus, Themes, etc.), the download is a two file process. The names of these files are similar, and many get confused, and think they are the same, only downloading and installing one, but not the other. This ARTICLE will give you the location and name of the two files. It was originally done done for PrE 7, but PrE 8 is tabbed on that page. First, the program needs to be installed, and then the Functional Content. Personally, I think that Adobe could make it more obvious, that one needs two files, and also rename the second archived file, so that it stands out as the one containing that Functional Content.
Now, when I go to make a movie, the sound i've recorded from the clip (i use Fraps version 3.2.2, yes the PAID for version) never is allowed to transition over.
FRAPS, and several other video-capture programs present problems, due to the specs. of the files that they create, especially the FPS and the CODEC used. To get some background on CODEC's, this ARTICLE will be helpful. PrE, just like its big-brother, PrPro, is designed around a miniDV tape workflow. There are other base workflows, like HDV and AVCHD, plus 100% DVD-compliant VOB, and a few others. However, when working with non-standard workflows, conversion outside of PrE is usually the best course of action.
For FRAPS, see this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, and this THREAD. Note: that is but a start. Also, many of the replies in those have links to other threads. Plenty of reading.
Third problem, the final quality of the videos I create is very poor. We're talking just NASTY.  I can view the clips just fine and their quality is top notch before I export them out of the program.  The moment they hit my desktop, well, they look like shark chum bait fed through a paper shredder.
Without having the exact workflow, step-by-step, and then the Export/Share settings used, it is impossible to determine where the quality hit has come in, and how to address it.
Good luck, and sorry for your dissatisfaction,
    Hunt

  • How to recover deleted iMovie project?

I have been working on an iMovie project for hours now (the movie is a little over 5 minutes and was created yesterday with a name), and last night I finished the movie and shut down the computer. The finished iMovie file was on the iMovie application, and had been fine when I had to quit out and go back into the iMovie application several times. There were also video and music files for the video and even files in the trash bin when I shut down last night. This morning I went to open iMovie back up and it was as if the movie ever existed (there was even an intro page to the iMovie application that popped up as if I had opened iMovie for the first time). All the music, video, and trash files were gone as well. HOW DO I RECOVER THE IMOVIE??? Thanks.

try it with the time machine...also try in the trash

  • Why can't I delete this video file from my trash can?

I have a video file that I will not disappear from my trash can when I click the "empty track" button. I managed to move the folder containing the video file from documents to the trash after a lot of effort, but it kept telling me that I didn't have the privileges necessary to delete the video permanently. Now the video file is sitting inside a folder inside the trash can where I can't move anywhere else. If I try to move it anywhere else, it simply copys to that folder but stays inside the original stays in the trash can as well, but I can still delete the copy and the original stays sitting in the trash can. Can anyone help me so I can get rid of this file once and for all.

ho yeah .. i know that, but i tried even in a low quality and it's not worked.
Maybe it's related to the TimeQuick?
