VIDEO IN VIDEO in Elements 4.0

Is there any way to get video playing inside a video (both playing) on one screen?

Along with PiP (Picture in Picture), you might want to also read up on the Crop Effect, and Track Matte Keying, as both can allow for quite a bit of creativity with PiP. The Motion>Scale Effect is also quite useful for PiP work.
As Steve states, your capabilities are almost endless, and PE does give you some Presets to get you started with.
If you find that you get stuck, and the Presets do not do what you want, post back with the details of what you have, and what you want, and someone will come through with the steps to help you attain your goal.

How to make avi videos in elements 10?

Thank you for the critical information that you gave in your last post number 3.
You did not say that you were working on with Premiere Elements 10 on a Mac computer.
Neither Premiere Elements 10 Mac nor iMovie support an .avi export.
If you want an .avi file, you are going to have to export your Timeline to as .mov or .mp4 and then
convert that to an .avi export in a 3rd party software.
For Premiere Elements 10 Mac...for .mov, see Share/Computer/QuickTime and appropriate Preset and Advanced Settings.
Or, for mp4, see Share/Computer/AVCHD and appropriate MP4 preset. Setting help is available if you ask but give details.
The following link is being provided for informational (non promotional) reasons only to start you on the issues of
    .avi files in Mac.
AVI to iMovie: Easily Import AVI to iMovie'11 on Mavericks and Mountain Lion
There are many other such links online. This not a matter of like or dislike. It is a matter of format support or non support.
Please let us know if you are OK with the basic problems involved.
For the quickest and best advice, please give full detail at the onset.

  • Growing problem watching videos in Elements 7

I initially installed PSE5 and Premiere 3 as part of a package a couple years ago. At the time I was easily able to watch videos in Elements 5, including relatively unusual formats such as .m2t, as well of course as .avis.
I upgraded to PSE7 a few months back (no upgrade for Premiere however). Around about that time I found I could no longer watch or import .m2ts or .mp4s. I cant say for sure if it was at the time of the upgrade the problem occurred, as I hadn’t tried using either PSE5 or PSE7 for that purpose for a while.
Within the last week or so, I have found that I can no longer even view .avis. I definitely have been able to do so in PSE7 in the past. Now whenever I try, the whole of Elements will crash (one of the few times I have seen PSE7 do that). .
Other possibly relevant changes to my computer that have occurred over that time are the installation of Sony Vegas Movie Studio and some Pixela viewing software for that came with a Canon AVCHD Camcorder.
I appreciate that this could be a highly technical, highly tedious question dealing with codecs and the like. Any direct help would of course be fantastic, but barring that even some help on the basics as I try to sort it out would be great.
    1. Is the viewer in PSE7 dependant in any way on having Premiere installed?
    2. What other programs could possibly be interfering with PSE7s ability to show video? Is there a way to troubleshoot something like that without ‘Uninstall other software first….’
    3. Is there a codec pack I can download or buy that would solve these issues? I don’t mind spending a bit more money, just want to get it to work.
    4. Can anyone suggest a Photoshop Elements website or book that deals with video issues such as this, or have people who deal a lot in watching videos within PSE7 itself. Every time I try to search for PSE7 and ‘video’ or ‘movie’ I am inundated with links to generic training videos etc. And the 446 page Adobe PSE help PDF was no help, neither was Kelby’s PSE7 book. 99.999% of the info out there that I have been able to find deals with pictures not video. I understand most people use PSE7 for photos, but I like to use it to organize my videos as well.
Any help, any at all, that can be given, even if its just pointing me in the right direction, would be great.

Maybe there are compatibilty issue between the PSE7 and PRE3.Try upgrading PRE also.

.wpl appears to be a Windows Media Player playlist. I can find no conversion software for that, and Windows Media Player is not available for Mac anymore.
If you can persuade him to download iTunes and create the playlist as mp3 in a iTunes playlist, or even just burn the base mp3 files to CD as a data disc, that's about the only solutions I can suggest.

No enough information to help you. Answers will be in the details.
    1. What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
    2. What Samsung device is recording your videos that you want to edit in Premiere Elements?
    3. What are the properties of those videos, including video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, variable frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, and pixel aspect ratio?
    4. What are you or the program setting as the project preset to match the properties of your source media?
    5. Are you getting any error messages associated with "problem loading and playing samsung videos in elements"?
    6. Is there a problem loading and playing both video and audio or just video or just audio?
Let us start here and then we can plan troubleshooting strategy.

  • Unable to play/load video in Elements trial

I just downloaded the trial edition of Elements 10 for the Mac, and am having a problem viewing the video. I've searched the forum and tried all the suggestions I've seen (permissions, root user, reboot, reinstall, etc.), but nothing seems to work. There are two basic problems I'm seeing:
After loading a video file, either from an existing project downloaded from lynda.com or a video file on my Mac, double-clicking a clip and clicking the "Play" button does not play the video. The button changes from the play to pause icon, but nothing happens. Dragging the scroll bar or holding down the right arrow key advances the video, but it will not play by itself. Strangely, any audio files (also from lynda.com) do not play either.
When trying to import from an older DV camcorder (JVC GR-D70U), the tape will play and can be controlled by Elements, and I can see video on the camcorder screen, but no video is shown in the Elements capture screen nor is any video captured. When I stop the capture, I'm told that no frames were captured.
All the above steps work fine with iMovie (different lynda.com tutorial files, of course), and I can import, play, and do most anything that iMovie allows. Having run into the limitations of iMovie I really would like to move up a step or two; hence my trying out Premiere Elements 10. So far it's been a complete bust since it doesn't appear to allow me to play video, no matter what I try. It's such a basic problem that there must be one underlying reason that no video capture or playback works, but after playing with it for the past two days and googling everything I can find on the subject, I'm about to give up.
The system is a Mac Pro (3,1), dual quad-core 2.8 GHz Xeons, 16 GB of memory, OS 10.6.8, with an NVidia GeForce 8800GT video card and two Dell 24 inch monitors. Not the latest and greatest, but it should be more than adequate for my simple needs (and I'm hoping that the video card is OK). Since things run fine with iMovie my assumption is that the video file formats are OK, especially since a simple import from a DV camcorder works on iMovie but not Elements 10. I've seen references that allude to the fact that some video formats don't work on the trial edition but will play OK if you buy the complete package, but unless there's a money-back guarantee, that seems a bit extreme.
So, any ideas or additional things that I might try? As I said, it's probably one basic thing that is causing the video problems, but I've tried everything I can think of and have been able to find on the web/forums with no luck at all. Any suggestions, advice, or recommendations that anyone might be able to give woudl be greatly appreciated.
    - Ken

    Bill & John,
Thanks for the pointers and info - very helpful; and informativel. My apologies for missing the file info via QuickTime - I should have figured that out by myself. In any case, I'll concentrate on the lynda.com files. I suspect that since this is probably a single problem affecting everything, figuring that issue out will solve the other file problems as well.
Looking at at of the lynda.com videos with MediaInfo (thanks, John), I get the following screen shot (hope this comes through OK):

For Bill's question about importing, I have numerous imported videos. A lot were translated from very old 8mm family tapes were done commercially. Others were imported via the Canpous ADVC 100, which is a hardware device that accepts S-VHS and other inputs from a video source and outputs digital video. Basically a way to grab and convert old video formats to a computer. All were done on a Mac, and all play very well via QuickTime.
Any ideas from the above? And as always, I'm sure that this is some sort of setup/hardware/configuration problem on my part that is affecting all the videos, since I find it hard to believe that the video files themselves are at fault, especially since I took all the defaults on installation.
I'll try installing on a MacBook Pro to see if the problem persists and let you know how that goes.

  • Can't view/monitor copy-pasted video prem elements 7

    Hi folks
Wierd one this.  We've got Premiere elements 7 in college on some awfully slow computers (2GHz dual core cpu with 1GB ram).
Sometimes, when a student has copied some video and pasted it on another track/later in the session, they'll try and play it but it won't show in the monitor.
The screen goes black, but you can hear the audio.  However, when you double click the video itself, it will open in that  window you use for fine tuning a cut, and you can see it playing ok.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Bob

1GB RAM is nowhere near enough to run PRE7 comfortably (I'm quite surprised that it works at all). Other likely problems are inadequate free disk space and out of date drivers.
Work through these basics to see if it cures your problems.
    Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.9 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
    Install PRE7 v7.0.3 update.
Delete BadDrivers.txt (in Windows 7 this is likely at C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Premiere Elements\9.0\BadDrivers.txt)
    Run Disk Cleanup.Run Defragmenter.
    Reboot your PC.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
And give us some information about your clips and hardware:
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
What project preset did you use?
Where did the clip come from?
How did you get it into PRE?

  • Not playing video premiere elements 7

I'm starting out with a .AVI file captured on my Nikon D300s.   I have premiere elements 7.
When I open the video (before any editing in Premiere) in Windows Media Player, everything is fine - I have audio and video.  Same thing when I open in QuickTime - everything is fine.
I opened in premier elements, and the video plays fine.  I edit the video, save and go to "Share".   I select PC and choose the MPEG option.
The preset is NTSC DVD Standard.
When opening the Advanced option the Export video & Export Audio options are checked.  In Mulitplexer I have DVD selected.
When I Save this and then go to open the file in Windows Media Player, the audio plays but no video.  When I try to open this in QuickTime I get:
Error - 2048 Couldn't open the file video1.mpg because it is not a file that QuickTime understands
If I save it as a windows media it opens in WMP just fine with audio and video.
Why can't I save this as an MPEG?

I just did a test Share to MPEG, at your settings, and the Quality set to 5. Everything worked perfectly in WMP 11, VLC Player and MediaPlayer Classic HC, and I got the same error in QT Pro 7.5.5, that you did.
Here is my G-Spot screen, with the file in it:
How does G-Spot see your file? If you look to the lower-left, you'll see some squares with numbers. I'd hit the Video Render button #1 "Vid," and look to the right for messages. Then, hit #2, and look for messages. If no messages, hit #3 to play in G-Spot's little player.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Video-animated elements wirhin SWF file

    Hi there...
I have seen some SWF banners which contain not only
flash-made animations but also "inserted" videos elements: like
this website for example: some times ther used to appear a person
saying "welcome, yes, I am going to show you this new Macromedia
product..." or "we are the Macromedia team" or whatever...
Wel I need to create some animation like that because my
customer asked me for a "virtual host person" explaining some
things... Well I already have the video of him... but now.. what ??
How do I crop the person ? how do I insert him inside my
    predseigned Flash banner ?
    Thanks a lot in advance,

Is the person on a green screen, and have you already made
that transparent with After Effects or other software? Then you
have to import your video into Flash 8 and have it converted to
FLV. It may need to be embedded but you could lose audio sync, or
you have to progressively stream it and use cue points to trigger
    events.
All of this greek to you? If so you better visit
www.gotoandlearn.com and watch the tutorials on video
    basics.

  • Nikon D90 video + Premiere Elements 3 randomly works

I have Premiere Elements 3, and just started trying to work with the video from my D90. I have a problem that some of the D90 AVI video files import and are fine, and others give an error that they are corrupt or the codec may not be installed. All the files play in VLC and other players. So, they are not corrupt. Other threads talk about codec issues, but that doesn't seem to be the case here as some of the AVI files will important an play fine in premiere elements. It also doesn't seem to be a file size issue as some files of the same size will import and others won't, and some larger files (65 MB) will but some 5MB files won't. This includes video shot on the same day. So, nothing about the encoding was changing on the camera. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Jeff,
The only caveats with WMM as a conversion tool is that it Exports as DV-Type I, and not DV-Type II. There is a file size limitation on Type I's, that might, or might not come into play. Just be aware of it. Next, there are occassions where Type I's in Premire (both PE and PrPro), where there can be be OOS (Out Of Sync) issues. These are almost always constant OOS, and are easily corrected. Again, you may, or may not come into contact with these, but they can happen. These comments are really just H/U's, of things that one might need to look out for.
I would anticipate that the next iterations of both PE and PrPro will have native support for both the Nikon D-90 MJPEG's and the Canon 5D MK II's .MOV files, considering the popularity of both DSLR's as motion capture devices. This is speculation, but AVCHD was recently added, as was support for RED (in PrPro). One of the big differences with the support for RED was that they worked very, very closely with Adobe. Other mfgrs. just do their thing, and unless it's Sony, working closely with the Sony Vegas folk, and let the NLE programers catch up, after the cameras and their CODEC's are released.
Good luck, and please report on everything that you encounter. Everyone will be busy trying to see what will work, and what will not with both the Nikon and the Canon. All the info from the field will help.

  • Need help playing video in elements 9

I have windows 7 and just got priemiere elements 9.  When it plays my .mov videos it only plays sound for a few seconds then stops.  The video continues to play with no sound.  If I open the same video in Quicktime or in photoshop elements 9 it plays fine.  The whole reason I got this program was to edit my video and make movies of family events.  What am I doing wrong and how to I fix it.

    Welcome to the forum.
The MOV file extension is but a "wrapper," and almost anything can be in that wrapper. This ARTICLE will give you some background, and will also tell you how to "peek inside" the wrapper. What is the CODEC of your MOV files?
Also, note that there is a big difference between using a simple player to play an AV file, and editing that same file.
Good luck, and please let us know more,

  • Sync video from elements 10 album throught iTunes to iPad

    Hello,
My goal is to use one program for organize and editing photos which I can sync easily with iPad.
Elements is really nice, becouse i can easily change photos and videos order in albums and sync it throught iTunes to iPad.
Here is problem, I want my videos in albums, not in separate "Video" program on iPad. But when i want sync photos from Phototshop Elements albums, I don't have option "include videos", like on standard folders.
So how I can sync photos and videos organized in Elements albums? I really need all my photo and video under Pictures program in iOS.
    I'm using last iTunes 10.6.3, Adobe Elements 10.0 and Windows 7 x64.
Thanks for your time and sorry for my English.

For some reason that I don't understand, the clips are now "magically" synced. The only change is that I upgraded my Mac OS to 10.6.8.
    Anyone knows about this?

how can I play MPEG-4 files in Premier Elements?  It plays in iTunes but I only see video in Elements

    LGSh
Lots of questions, lots of answers needed as mentioned by Hunt. But please include what version of Premiere Elements that you are using when you reply.
How are you importing these file into your Premiere Elements project?
After you drag your file to the Timeline, do you see both an video and audio component (on Video 1/Audio 1) or is there nothing on the Audio 1 track? If you can see a wave form or file on Audio 1, have you checked all the program's volume settings including Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware and the ASIO settings?
    More later.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything written.
    Thank you.
