Video iPod Album Art Help

Hi, I have a 60GB video iPod and it has the album art enabled and I see the little picture when it is playing music, but when I hit the middle button twice to see the big album art picture, it doesn't show up. All I see is a white box with a black line that makes the box where the big album art should show up.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think this is a case of the bytesize of the album art. Some of my art was acting the same so I deleted the picture and replaced with a new that knew was smaller in bytesize. Helps, but sometimes it is slow to show and comes after halfway through the song.
Regards,
Trond

  • IPod album art not functioning properly

When I go to play a song on my iPod Video, the album art appears next to the song title as usual. But if I click the center button twice, the expanded art doesn't appear, all I get is a white box with a grey outline. I don't know how to fix this and. Someone please help me out!
Dell   Windows XP   Current version of iTunes (7.2.0.34)

I haven't done a search to see if others are talking about this problem, but I know it exists as well. My solution was to manually highlight one track, copy the art, then paste it back into the entire album. Which I know defeats the purpose of iTunes downloading the art for you. The only plus thing about it is the iTunes art is usually nice, clear and very large so they look great when you print out the cover art.
I am also having a problem that I will post elsewhere, but I am betting it has something to do with this as well, so I'll spit it out here too. If I take any of the newly imported music (from-CD) drag it to another harddirve to re-import, the tags are completely gone except for the song title.

  • Reset iPod = videos unplayable, album art gone?

i'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, but every time i reset my iPod (menu and middle button) all my videos disappear from the Video section in my iPod. When i check in iTunes, i can still see the video files, but the little TV icon beside them indicating that they are video are gone, and they just play as sound files.
Also, all the album art and lyrics i had for my normal songs don't display anymore. But i can still see them in iTunes.
has anyone had this problem? is there a way to reset the iPod without this happening?
    thanks

Try restoring the iPod. Then, after a restore, try resetting your iPod.

  • Automatic ipod album art import?

I have a ton of songs (over 30GB worth) already on my ipod without artwork, because at the time I loaded them on my version of iTunes did not yet have the "get album artwork" functionality...
Now that the new version of iTunes does, however, I've found that you cannot update the album art automatically on the iPod, but I don't understand why not?
I've read other places that this is because "apple is trying to protect getting art for music you did not buy or acquired illegally" BUT I think that is bogus/ludicrous because nearly all the music on my ipod is ripped from CDs I own, so there's no reason I shouldn't be able to get artwork for them if I want to...
So, is there a way to get album art imported onto the ipod automatically, instead of doing it manually by downloading individual albums and then dragging it into the art window in iTunes? Seeing as I have almost 40GB of tunes this would take about 10 years that I don't want to waste. Any third part programs or pug-ins to help with this?
    Thanks,
    William

i've downloaded a few manually and they do show on the ipod.
anyway, is there really no other application that can help with this?
i UNDERSTAND that itunes cannot do this...i'm asking about anything else out there that could help. it seems so stupid that itunes doesn't have this function...even for simplicity sake, if people forgot to put artwork on files in the beginning and then wanted to add them later...

  • Displaying ipod album art in itunes

I have a question about the iPod's display of album art in iTunes when it is plugged into my computer. I had been getting really frustrated for the better part of the evening after adding a bunch of album art to my music, updating it on the iPod (I do manual update so I dragged the songs onto the iPod after adding the art), and then clicking on them in the iPod's library in iTunes only to see that there was no album art there. What gives?
However, I realized that I was getting annoyed for no reason when I checked it out in the iPod itself, after I disconnected it. All of the album art is there.
So here is the strange behavior I have observed this evening: if I had to go out on the internet and find cover art myself, and add it manually to the files in iTunes, it displays in the iPod's library in iTunes. If iTunes helpfully went out and found the cover art for me automatically, it does NOT display in the iPod library in iTunes (although it is actually there when you go to play the music on the disconnected iPod). I went through the iPod's library in iTunes and this is consistently what is happening.
Obviously this isn't a life-or-death kind of situation, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this behavior or knows why this happening. For what it's worth, my entire iTunes library is on an external hard drive, and all of my music is on there in the same place. Do you think iTunes is storing the art in separate places depending on whether I added it or it found it on its own? Would this even matter? I am very curious about this. Thanks for any insight anyone has for me.

when i play the music on the iPod the albums show up
no problem... but when the iPod is connected to
iTunes, and i'm browsing my ipod via itunes, only
    some album art shows up...
IE: beck guero, has album art in the itunes library,
it also has the art on the ipod if i play it with the
ipod disconnected from my mac. it DOES NOT show album
art when connected to itunes and view the ipod within
    itunes...
whats the deal? some albums are just fine, but the
vast majority of them dont display the art while in
itunes... again, if i disconnect the ipod and view
them on the ipod, there is no problem all albums
    display.
    any help is appreciated.
Just so you know, you're not going crazy and you're not the only one that's seeing this. I'm seeing the same behavior with a 30GB 5G iPod and iTunes7 under Windows XP.

  • IPod Album Art Mixup, Choppyness, Doesn't Sleep

I have a few questions about my new iPod 5.5G 80GB I was hoping to have cleared up. Some of these may simply be me doing something wrong on the iPod.
1/ When I'm scrolling through some podcasts on my iPod, as well as some music, I'll see the album art of another song, podcast, or video in it's album art part. As an example, I went to play CNET's Buzz out Loud and got the album art for Pirates of the Caribbean instead of the Buzz Out Loud logo. Is this a bug or something I'm doing wrong? How can I fix it?
2/ I've noticed that menu scrolling and some game play (Brick, specifically) is really choppy. Almost every five or ten seconds when playing Brick and having music playing in the background, the ball will freeze in mid air for a split second. It does this when I'm scrolling through my songs too... on my iPod 2g mini silver 4gb, I never had problems with this. It may be because of my amount of music, I'm not sure. It just won't go through all of the songs instantly. I have to wait a second for it to get to the next screen of songs, almost like it's having to think real hard to load a single bit of text.
3/ The last thing I'm having troubles with is that it won't sleep when I hold down the play button. Sometimes, it will, and sometimes it won't. Most of the time, it won't. I then have to do a hard restart to get it to sleep, because even selecting it in the menu won't put it to sleep.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Other than those three issues, I'm absolutely loving my iPod. It's a huge step up from my iPod mini!

I have the same problem. I just bought a 80GB Video ipod a couple of weeks ago. I have the newest version of itunes. I spent hours getting all the artwork on the itunes, synched my ipod and it all worked fine and then all of a sudden after my last synch (yesterday and after the last update) the artwork is all messed up. It displays the wrong artwork for the song and artist I pick. And when I click on the artwork (from my ipod) it shows a different album/artist artwork. This is really frustrating considering I put so much time in to make sure that all the albums had the correct artwork and that they were properly organized. Anybody have any solutions or been having the same problem?
Deleting the artwork is not an option. It shows up fine in itunes but is all messed up on the ipod and it is almost every file if not every file. So deleting and reinstalling over 7,000 songs would take forever.

  • Complicated itunes / ipod Album Art Question?

This is a rather complicated question so I hope someone can help me. I have a 5th gen video ipod and run itunes (latest version 7.5) on Windows XP. I keep all my music on my home computer, syncing it daily with my ipod. I take my ipod to work and attach it to my PC there so I can listen through the speakers. I have to switch my ipod to the Manually Manage Music to be able to play it on that machine. What I want to do is see all the album artwork as I play them on that machine but only the artwork for music I have bought from itunes shows up on the work computer. All the art is on my ipod because if I listen to it detached from the PC all my art shows up on it. And I do have my ipod set to sync the album art.

If you can find the cover art you want online, you can just tell iTunes to forget the artwork for those songs and add the art you want manually.

  • Album art help.

I can't get album art to show up on my ipod. I open up itunes, click on my ipod, then play the song I want the album art to play on. Then I drag the album art from my documents and place it in the box in the bottom left. When I play the song from my ipod through itunes I see the album art but when I disconnect the ipod and play that song I do not see any album art. I have it turned on so I can see it too. Help?

There is a simple freeware program that can help make the time-consuming task of copying Album Art in iTunes very easy. It's called "Clutter" and is located at sprote.com/clutter/.
After you download the program, open it and keep the program window up front. Then play the song in iTunes. If you have a full CD/Album, play the first song. You should then see the CD/Album cover show up in the window. Then, simply go to Clutter > File > Copy Cover to iTunes. The cover art will then be applied to every song in the album playlist. Clutter searches the Amazon.com database for CD/Album covers. Usually it finds the correct ones with no problem. It sometimes brings up the wrong one if you have unusual or less than popular music titles.
Make sure you have turned on the options to show Album Art on your iPod.
    Hope this helps.

  • My new iTunes messed up my iPods album art

I updated my 5G video iPod... and everything seemed fine until I tried playing an album on my iPod after the update. Apparenlty if I'm playing, lets just say the song "One", by U2 on the album Achtung Baby, for example... it will play fine, BUT IT WILL SHOW ANOTHER ALBUM'S ARTOWKR WITH THE ALBUM. For example instead of showing Achtung Baby's cover for the song "One", it shows the cover for a Pearl Jam album or something.
I have no idea how to make it stop, and just show the normal album art. I've played Mars Volta, Pearl Jam... etc... and they all show other bands album art for the albums. It seems to be entirely thrown off and doesn't know how to show an albums PROPER album art.
Someone please tell me they know how to fix this.

Highlight the ipods name in iTUnes. Hit the "Music" tab and UNCHECK "Display Album artwork on your ipod" then hit "Apply" in the lower right corner of itunes. THis will update your ipod. Wait for it to finish updating.
When its done updating just CHECK the box again and hit "Apply" again and let it update.
What happend is the ipods DB (Database) got allittle "Fudged up" and doing these steps makes iTUnes rewrite the ipods DB. Its not an issue with the update or iTUnes, its happened in other versions

  • ITunes / iPod Album art wierdness

I just got an iPod nano so I wanted to try and get the album art to display on the iPod when playing the songs. I transferred a whole bunch of my to the iPod before I realized who how do this.
So, I would select the iPod (not iTunes) library, select the album, go to a site with album art work, drag the art work to the art work section, it would update, then move on to the next. I did this for every album on the iPod. After that I did the same thing, except to the music in my iTunes library.
When I plug in my iPod and select an album, the album art shows up no problem in the iTunes interface..
When I use my iPod, only the albums where I added the alb um art to iTunes show up.
I do not have auto sync, or auto fill, or any of that stuff enabled.
What I'm wondering, can you not attach artwork to files already on the iPod, and if so, do I have to delete all the audio on my iPod, update all the album art in iTunes and transfer again? If so that's 1. a bummer and 2. very un-Apple.
Let me know if you've seen this before or can help.
    Thanks,
    Adam

If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    iTunes 6
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.
    iTunes 7
If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • My iPod album art doesn't work anymore

Ever since I updated to the latest iPod software (about 2 months ago), every new album I have put into my iPod has scratchy album art (looks scrambeled, and blue). My old album art however (for songs put in before the update), still looks good, and any other uploaded photo looks fine. Anyone know the problem?
oh, and it's a 60GB Black iPod Video.

i had a similar problem, with the ipod pluged in got to ipod prefrences and un-check the show album art box and then check it agian it worked for mine. hope it will work for you as well.

  • Download ipod album art but NOT into itunes

I keep all my music on my ipod. some of it had album art when it was on my computer, which transfered fine, and I can see it on the ipod. now I would like to update all the album art on the ipod, but none of the music is on my computer. there seem to be many freeware utilities out there to update album art but they are all for itunes and not just the ipod. I will not move all the music back to my computer just to get the art; there must be a way to do this easily. I'd also like to avoid setting up an itunes store account just for the privilege. thanks!

  • IPod album art does not match song

Whenever I play songs on my iPod the album art is messed up. The art does not show up with the correct song and I don't know what to do. I have checked and all of the album art is correct on the computer. I don't know what is wrong with my iPod and I would like to be able to solve this problem without having to send my iPod out to Apple. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

If you have an iTunes store account, you can use the "get album artwork" option in iTunes. You don't actually need to purchase anything from the iTunes store, just to have or create an account. Provided that the album or song for which you are looking to add artwork is available for sale in the store, iTunes will find it and add it to your library.
If you go to preferences/general in iTunes and check the box marked "automatically download missing album artwork", it will automatically add the artwork when you import a CD into iTunes.
One downside to this is that if you have an album or song misspelled in your iTunes library, it may not be found by iTunes because it will be looking for a match.
See: How to add artwork using iTunes.
If you don't have an account or don't want to create one, here are a couple of other methods.
First off, make sure you have "show album art" enabled in iPod options.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes, then right click on it and select the "get album artwork" option.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

You'd be surprised what Google Images can bring up. There are literally millions, and even obscure album artwork can be found.
In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a nice free program to do it for you.
