Video iPod frozen after static electricity charge

Was playing a movie on video iPod connected to TV when I touched the iPod and got a small static shock....the TV screen went white and the iPod is now frozen. Does not respond to connection to iTunes or AC charger; buttons do not work either. Plugged the cables back into iPod but to no avail.
Am I out of luck? I do have the Apple Protection plan. Any suggestions at this point?
thanks!

I had virtually the same thing happen to me tonight. I was sorting laundry with my iPod on. I pulled a sheet out of the laundry basket, heard a few crackles in my earbuds and the music stopped. Pulled the iPod out and -- blank white screen. iTunes recognizes the iPod, but the update didn't help, and resetting hasn't helped, either. What did you end up doing?

Problem solved. I tried resetting a couple more times and it finally worked. Seems to be fine now!

  • Ipod frozen after playing every two MV

It's so confused that my ipod always frozen after playing every two Avril's mv, with only a play and battery icon on the screen. For some reason it's perfectly ok when playing other mv and music. Nothing same happened.

    Tracy,
Under the normal process, your iPod mini will show the running bar, indicating that it is trying to complete the restore process. Try to do a restore again and plug it to the AC charge striaght away. You may need to do several attempts

  • Video Ipod frozen

I have had my video ipod for about a month now and i just bought some software to convert dvds to ipod format. It worked, but when i was watching the dvd, my ipod froze. I clicked menu and put it to sleep. I then turned it back on and clicked on now playing. When i did, It went to a black screen with the backlight on. I have tried reseting it and hooking it up to my computer, but nothing has worked. I need some ideas.

If the normal reset doesn't work, there isn't anything left to try...... except this one thing. Yesterday, there was a thread. About ten people in this thread had the same problem as you and nothing worked. A guy came on, posted this reset method and everyone was jumping for joy. I'd never heard of it before, so if you try it, PLEASE POST BACK AND LET US KNOW IF IT WORKS...
    1. switch hold on and off and reset the pod normaly.
    2. If the Pod reboots push Center and Play until the Pod turn off
    3. Flick the hold-switch on and off slowly (one on and off per second or slower) until the Pod restarts with the normal black screen with the apple. If the iPod is not reborn after 10 switches wait a little an restart the procedure at 1.

  • Ipod frozen after reset

after I reseted my ipod, I got the apple logo, but the ipod never moves on to the main menu. It is just frozen on the apple logo.
Also, if I connect it to my PC, it is not recognized ...

Have downloaded latest ipod update and instructed to plug into mains power (why ? what would be the sense of complicating a system by having varing power sources? which is what I thought original) but now i am comforted by the fact that the ipod doesn't recognise the mains power and neither does the PC now recognise the ipod. When I go on line for support Apple doesn't recognise the serial number of the ipod so after resorting to reboot as all else has failed to find that the ipod does recognise the reboot, just keeps coming back to asking for mains power. My ipod has become and expensive paper weight
My ipod was purchased 21 Nov 04 suggestions at this point are
    1. Don't buy one
    2. If to late for one then if it isn't broken then don't try to fix it with updates.
    Any help?

  • IPod frozen after hibernation

    Hi,
I noticed my iPod 80GB is always frozen after it "wakes" from hibernation.
To wake him up, I press the select button 'till the Apple logo is shown. The initial screen is shown, but I cannot do anything.
So, I have to reset it everytime it went into hibernation, and I think it's not right.
    Any momments?

  • IPod frozen after playing videos

I was watching all my music videos. After the first video finished the second video did not start. The screen is black and the buttons do not respond. I can tell the screen is on. I tried to reset the iPod by cycling the hold button and holding the menu and select button for 10 seconds but nothing happened.

Did some experimentation and found it is likely the encoding method. The 4g nano is very finicky with mpeg-4 files for video. The codec that seems to work best is H.264.
The dumb part is that all four of my other ipods have no issue, but I will have to reencode every movie I want to use with this new ipod. Almost makes me want to try out a Zune.

  • Ipod frozen after 1 month of use

i got my ipod for christmas; a brand-new ipod video. the past few days it has been going all slow and yesterday it went to the next song on the playlist when i clicked a song. (repetedly) then, just now, i charged it for about 3 hours, and it has been disconnected from the computer for about a half hour and it is stuck on the 'restart' screen with the apple. it wont respond! what should i do?

    See this.
How to reset the iPod if it appears frozen or doesn't respond.
It may take quite a few attempts and is best done connected to power.
If this doesn't work, try restoring the iPod to factory settings.
Put the iPod into disk mode first.
    Putting iPod into disk mode.
Restoring erases the iPod hard drive, so you will need to reload your songs from iTunes.

  • Purchased tv shows wont transfer to 30g video ipod even after latest update

OK, so, after this latest update for itunes and ipod, i can only get one purchased tv show to transfer to the ipod video. how do i get the rest to transfer?
      Windows XP

Don't have my video with me, but do a search in the threads, or look in the help files in iTunes and you can find it, or someone will jump in here with it. I know you will need to connect your iPod, highlight it in the source list, and it should be on one of the syncing tabs.

  • Ipod frozen after...

my touch is frozen...however i can turn it on and off by holding the switch and home button at the same time. When it does turn on. it shows the apple, a thin line of greens and blues above it, and the white rotating wheel, which eventually freezes as well.
All this came after, i went onto Jailbreakme.com (which is a LEGAL jailbreaking now) and downloaded Cydia. i wanted to get rid of it after 10 minutes tho, it didnt feel right. So i went under settings, hit reset all content and settings. and after it took that 30 minutes or so to delete all my stuff. i went to turn it on. and the screen keeps coming up as i described it above. I tried to go on my itunes and restoring it. but it wont recognize it as plugged into my PC. HELP?

Ok. That happened to me. I plugged it into itunes when it loaded, and it eventually recognized it for a minute then the ipod restarted. What I did was when it loaded into itunes, I clicked restore, and it restored it in time. Plug your ipod in and wait (maybe 5 or 10 min). Then click restore IMMEDIATELY.My mac said it could not recognize the ipod, but showed it in iTunes anyway. Try this.

  • IPod Frozen after update

After trying to update my iPod mini to 2005-09-06 I was told to plug my iPod into a wall outlet using my connector. I did that and although the iPod responds everytime it is plugged in by showing the apple logo it goes straight to a picture of plugging the iPod into a wall outlet and wont change from that. After awhile the screen just goes blank. I have tried reseting the iPod and have successfully seen the apple logo screen but every time I get to the same freeze point. I am wondering what I should do.

  • Ipod Frozen after Clearing data.

I cleared the data on my ipod and now it has been stuck on the loading ring for an hour. What should I do?

    - Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't turn it off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
    - If still problem then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod frozen - after installing itunes 7-

after installing itunes 7 - and installing ipod - the screen read "ipod updated" - ejected ipod - BUT now the screen on ipod reads "do not disconnect" and is frozen, I can't turn it off or on etc. I can't get it to respond despite restarting computer.
so do I take the previous advice of draining the battery and trying again??

  • IPOD frozen after use with Jensen car stereo with IPOD control cable

I recently installed a Jensen MSR7007 stereo and connected the IPOD mini with a special Jensen cable that allows the IPOD to be controlled from the radio without having to touch the IPOD. It works beautifully and the IPOD display reads "JENSEN RADIO" while it is playing. However when I disconnected the IPOD it was frozen (locked up) with the Jensen Radio display still on it. It was inoperable when I disconnected it and I couldn't even turn it off.
    Please Help.

I am having a similar problem - I just purchased a pioneer DEH-P690UB indash car stereo, but I can not get the radio to recognize my iPod mini (N/A USB). The installar has a newer iPod, which worked when he tested the system, so I have been looking for the new firmware to see if that will help.
Can anyone direct me to the firm ware downloads?

  • 60gb ipod frozen after plugging into second computer

I plugged my son's 60 gb ipod into my computer, but my computer asked me to erase his sync settings and sync it to my computer.
I said no, the computer failed to recognize the ipod, I shut the computer down and unplugged it.
Now his ipod is frozen, and holding the menu and center buttons does nothing.
When he plugged into his usb port, the ipod made whining noises that also projected through his computer.
    I have itunes 7.0.2 (15) on my computer, he has 7.0.1 (7)
    G4 17" powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

First plug your mini on an USB-Power adapter NO PC!!
Than normally it will start, load the mini's battery for a while.
Than instal the latest version of itunes on your pc.
Open itunes than plug your mini in...
And it normally shows up.. Restore and done!
When it doesn't work the mini has a wrong format! That happens when you restored it on a mac!!!
Maybe you've done that. Than plug it into a mac open Disc-Utility than change the format to FAT.
Than again in your windows and will it work...
Ask again when it won't or you does'nt understand

  • Ipod frozen on lightning bolt charge icon.

Hey, I have an Ipod that had some repairs done to it (new screen) and I try to plug it into a computer, but all it shows is the lightning bolt charge symbol. When I do reset it just shows the tiny critical battery symbol and then goes right back to the lightning bolt. I plugged it into a wall outlet, into a speaker dock, i tried 2 computers and 2 different cables, all to no avail.
    Any ideas?

I presume you have your music and data are backed up on iTunes. If so, it's no problem. Apparently, the iPod was pulled from its power source before the lightning bolt said it was okay to do so. All you have to do is boot iTunes and wait until it reloads your music.
If you want to disconnect iPod, but you see the message “Do not disconnect”
    - If iPod is downloading music, wait for the download to complete.
    - Select iPod in the iTunes Source list and click the Eject button.
    - If iPod disappears from the iTunes Source list, but you still see the “Do not
disconnect” message on the iPod screen, disconnect iPod.
    - If iPod doesn’t disappear from the iTunes Source list, drag the iPod icon from the
desktop to the Trash (if you’re using a Mac) or click the Safely Remove Hardware icon
in the system tray and select your iPod (if you’re using a Windows PC). If you still see
the “Do not disconnect” message, restart your computer and eject iPod again.
