Video IPOD no longer recognized by Itunes and wont Update

This is a long complicated issue. My Ipod has been working flawlessly until 2 weeks ago. Someone tried to plug it up to their computer to charge it and it wiped out my library and added their library. At first i was thinking no big deal, i will just reconnect it with my computer and it will load my library back on. However once connected to my computer it is not recognized by itunes. So i did a reset , which seemed to be working great and it started "updating" about 80% through that process it gave me an error message that says " This disc can not be written to or written from" now I have no idea why it would say that? and although it seems completely wiped out and useless, it still shows that much memeory is missing in the "about ipod" screen on the ipod. So i know the information is there somewhere , somehow?... Anyway I dont know what to do, Does anybody have any suggestions?
Oh and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the Itunes program to make sure it is up to date. WOuld adding new songs to my library have caused this problem?

1. Try Resetting the iPod. Hold Select and Menu for 6-10 seconds - until you see the Apple Symbol.
2. Use iPod Updater to restore your iPod to factory settings.
See if those two steps clear up your problem.

Ipod Shuffle wont be recognized on Itunes and wont update/restore

Its driving me crazy.
the Itunes wont recognize it because it says there is another user using the softwear and all of the other acounts are logged out.
when I tried restore or update it, it tells me "Ipod service error". so bassicaly im stuck and I cant format it or nothing. and I tried like a million times to take it out and plug it back in.
Ipod and apple stuff in general have too many restriction and standards that you have to have for their stuff to work right.

Neither of 2 iPod Shuffles (both 1GB) will allow version 1.1.4 software to install - various errors occur: "can't unmount", another user is using it, an unexpected error occurred (-147 or somesuch), and of all these, the last one most frequent and varied in timing (i.e. doesn't return immediately but takes between 10 seconds and 2 minutes to return error).
So the nicely buillt-in iPod Updated does download the appropriate software (cool!) but seems to hang up with the Shuffle with various errors. Tried the 5 Rs per ipod on support.apple.com, and also made Shuffle was only connected iPod, as there are 2 firewire-based 30 and 60 GB iPods, 1 60 GB USB iPod, a mini, and 2 shuffles. Lots of wires but all connected to a powered hub or two, so easy to disconnect. Nice wanrings on low USB power levels but just in case…

Ipod Mini is recognized by iTunes and can update, but can't read as a disk?

I have recently upgraded my iPod firmware to the latest, and am now having problems. I used to use my iPod as a disk, but now I can't do that anymore. I connect my iPod as normal, and iTunes sees it and I can update to it. But when I try to access it through My Computer (explorer), I will be able to access it for about 3 seconds, then it closes the window, and when I try to access it through Explorer again, it says it is not a valid file path? Is this a problem on my end or is the iPod dead? I've already tried restoring.

Use these instructions to enable disk use for the iPod. If neither the disk use nor the manual synchronization mode options are turned on, the iPod will disappear from the My Computer window when iTunes is done synchronizing it.

iPod classic not recognized in iTunes and in Finder, doesn't charge and even doesn't charge outside of Macbook. I've tried rebooting Mac, rebooting iPod, I installed once again iTunes but nothing works Everything was fine until the latest iOS and iTunes update. Please help me :-)

The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...

Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?

I have gone through the process of resetting the ipod as per the apple help website. "Toggle hold switch, hold menu and select button till apple logo appears, then try and put it into disk mode.. it pops up on my desktop in diskmode but it still wont get recognized by iTunes. And when I tried to just drag a folder of music to the ipod in disk mode, the space gets taken up but there is no sign of it on the actual ipod.
I am not sure what else to do to get this ipod restored and dump new songs on it. If possible I would like to bypass using iTunes to load songs. any help is appreciated. THNAKS!
NOTE: it charges while its plugged in, it just has no recognition by iTunes. I am using OS Mavericks as well.
It also seems as though the space is all occupied on the ipod but nothing new has shown up. Can I just erase this ipod and start fresh? I am all updated on iTunes as well..

My IPhone is no longer recognized by ITunes. I already tried the steps on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495, but had no luck, and I also tried to remove all relevant Apple software and reinstall, but this did not result in anything either.
Now, also, if I start up ITunes, it tells me, that the "Apple Mobile Device Service" is not running. Trying to start this service by hand, did not work. Following the rules on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 did not work.
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit, my ITunes version is 9.0.3.
This is my third PC in this household this has happened (i switched the PCs after it appeared on my other PCs), and I am simply not willing to do that again.
Please, if anyone has an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2553 as a last ditch effort but if it has been recognized by computer before and you did everything in HT1923 and TS1495 then i would say like msconfig stuff or disk cleanup and such.. it would be worth it to contact apple tech support if HT1923, TS1495 and HT2553 doesn't work.

Iphone 5S no longer recognized in ITunes and so cannot sync

Iphone 5S is no longer recognized in ITunes so it cannot sync. I am not seeing the driver listed and therefore the recommendation to repair the driver does not work for me. Have rebooted, deleted Itunes and reuploaded many many times. I have read and tried all the "Apple" fixes listed. I use Kasperasky Anti-Virus and wondered if that could be blocking the driver needed. I have added the Apple programs to Kaspersky's exclusion list but that did not work. Seems ridiculous to spend any more money to download songs in ITunes if I can never sync my Iphone 5S to get them on my phone. Apple techs, please help - just recommending the standard fixes I keep reading has not helped at all. Anyone else have a different suggestion? Thank you for your suggestions but I still have the problem. The Iphone 5S is not recognized and I have deleted Kaspersky off my computer (and still have not put it back on yet). I still do not see the Apple Mobile Service USB Driver listed. I had done this process previously (several times) but went through it all again in your order just in case I missed something. I am wondering if there is a way to go back to the previous version of ITunes in case it was the ITunes update causing me the problems. I do not think I can blame it on Kaspersky since it is not on my computer now and I have the same problem.
I also notice that the Iphone is not listed in my devices in Windows 7 - not sure if it was before or is suppose to be for sure - but just noting it is not. I tried the option to add devices but Windows does not find the Iphone 5S. Just thought I would add that information in case that should lead to a solution. Again thanks for your time - would appreciate any other suggestions. I don't think you can use Apple Support without paying money so would like to find help from someone else having the problems. I think it is odd so many people are having problems with their phone being recognized or sometimes just it syncing - and various steps have helped others (like uninstalling and re-installing). IPhone 3GS no longer recognized in iTunes and does not charge via wall

I upgraded my iMac to iTunes 9.2 when it came out.
My wife then upgraded her iPhone 3GS to iOS4.
Since then it is not recognized in iTunes and does not charge via the wall adapter.
I realize this topic crosses over with several ongoing discussions, but there are no 3rd party peripherals involved here.
The only major changes to our set up have been the itunes and iOS upgrades.
The battery is running down, any ideas to fix this, or other similar experiences welcome.

5th gen 30 gb video ipod no longer recognized by XP OR Itunes

I'm still able to charge it successfully but even putting it into disk mode, computer will flat out not recognize it. I've tried borrowing a friends working cord and same issue.

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

IPOD no longer recognized by iTunes after newest upgrade!!!!

I just upgraded to the latest version of iTunes. My IPOD is now not recognized by Itunes. I get this message: "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software". I followed the instructions and I also downloaded the latest iPod updater software. Restarted the computer only to get the same message - OVER AND OVER.
I have never had this issue prior to downloading this newest upgrade. A patch or resolution is needed ASAP to fix this issue. People invest TOO MUCH money in these products for something silly like this to occur.

However, iTunes now want's me to update to a new version (1.4)!?! Should I do this or wait until Apple fixes 1.5?

hmmm. do you mean itunes 5.0.1.4? what version of itunes are you running currently? (just to be on the safe side, let's head into your itunes "help > about" and check to see precisely which version number scrolls up from the bottom.)
