Video iPod stays "on" after Sync

I have upgraded the software for iTunes and iPod to the latest version. Since doing that, everytime I sync, eject the iPod, and put it on hold, the next morning the iPod screen is still at the beginning screen, not in sleep mode, and half of the battery is discharged. Needless to say, this has not happened before.
Any suggestions?

Does it go to Sleep at all?
Mkae sure Calendar alarms and Clock alarms are off.

Has anyone had trouble ejecting their ipod from itunes after syncing?

what trouble are you having? if after it says sync complete, and then you click on the eject arrow next to xxxx's ipod and it still says Do not Disconnect after ten minutes?  I just pull the cable. you can shut down the computer first if you want. never done any damage so far.

  • 60g video ipod that recently stopped syncing.

I have a 60g video ipod that just stopped syncing my music library. Podcasts/Pictures/Audiobooks sync, but my music library won't. Any idea why this might be happening? Really trying to get this sorted, I have a (55hour) road trip coming up and I'd really love any suggestions/help.
    It's updated to Version 1.3.
    Model - MA003LL.
    Format - Windows
Everything syncs but the music. The music on here still plays, but it just won't sync. I don't want to factory reset it, in the chance that the issue isn't fixed and I'm left with an empty ipod.

The error message is this "The Ipod "Ipodname" cannot by synced. The required file cannot be found"
    Any ideas?

  • Video iPod freezes, no longer syncs

I've had a 5th gen. video iPod since January 2005. Been working perfectly until recently: I was going to skip a song and the screen froze up on me. So I held down the Menu and Center buttons (like I normally do to reset), but this time when the iPod booted back up, I got a white screen saying I needed to connect to iTunes to restore.
So I got home, connected to iTunes and hit the "restore" button to return original factory settings. Then I copied all my iTunes songs back onto the iPod. The next day I was playing songs on Shuffle, and when I would try to skip to the next song, the iPod would work really slowly. So I did a reset again and when the iPod booted up again--everything had been erased.
So I restored the iPod again, but had problems when trying to copy my iTunes library. I got an error message saying that I was missing a necessary file (it didn't specify which one) and could not sync.
Now when I even try to restore again, I get an error message saying I can't restore due to an unknown error (1418).
    Can anyone help me?

Hm. Well, since your iPod is already blank, try hooking it up to another computer and replace it with that library. If it works fine there, then your iPod's fine, and the problem is the iTunes and iPod software on your computer. Try uninstalling (to go control panel - add/delete programs to make sure it's gone) and then installing the newest updates. Then connect your iPod, restore, and sync. Try that first?

  • WLAN/Wap stays on after sync or web/maps use, does...

my wlan/wap connection always stays on after a mail for exchange sync or even just web browsing.  Is this a bug or a feature?  It never seems to turn off and I have to do this manually after each sync of email or use of interweb.  thanks David

As said above, you can set the phone to prompt when it wants to go onto the internet.
You can also download "AutoDisconnect" from Maemo Extras (or Dev) which can kill the connection if it is idle for a set time etc.

  • Ipod classic frozen after sync since I updated ipod software 1.02

I have an iPod Classic 80G and iTunes 7.4.2(4) installed in my Macbook Pro, had about 12G music in my iTune, everything worked fine, untill yesterday I added some more songs (about 2G), when I tried to sync, iTune asked me to update iPod Classic software 1.02, I did and after sync, my iPod frozen (only apple logo on screen). I tried all 5 Rs, and even erased the drive with Disk Utility, after restore, I can copy songs from iTunes while using it as a disk, the ipod works fine, but the iPod crashs everytime finished sync. This morning I tried to sync with my girlfriend's Mac mini (she has about 8G music in her iTunes), it works no problem at all. So I am thinking the problem is with my iTunes - any help please?
p.s My last attemp was deleting the ipoddriver.kext from extensions libary, still didn't work.

The iPod classic not bring recognized is unrelated to iTunes Match. You should post this problem to either the iPod Classic forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/ipod/ipod_classic or the iTunes for Windows forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows. Probably the former.
FYI it is only iOS devices that cannot be synced via USB with iTunes Match enabled.

Update: After restoring the iPod synced almost 1/3 through my playlist and then started syncing at a rate of about one song every four to five minutes. Eventually it stopped syncing and froze. Now iTunes is completely frozen.

  • My videos I took using my ipod nano disappeared after syncing.

I had 5 videos on my ipod nano that I took yesterday. When I hooked my ipod up to my computer (Toshiba) the ipod did the sync thing. The videos disappeared off my ipod. I have no idea where they went because I cannot find them on my computer or on my itunes. Can some please help me?

    Hello ctay122,
Have you checked your iPod to see if they are still there? Videos you take on the iPod are not automatically copied to iTunes. They need to be manually copied to your computer through Windows explorer. See this article for more help and instructions.

  • Video-ipod classic won't sync

Hi! I got my new Ipod classic 80g today and have been playing around with the different things which my old ipod mini and ipod nano couldn't do. Synchronizing my playlist was no problem, nor was downloading and syncing podcasts. The only thing that won't work is getting videos on my ipod. No problems getting them into itunes (tried with both *.mov and *.mpg4) but when syncing my ipod there pops up a message telling me that itunes hasn't updated the videos on my ipod because it wouldn't be able to play them.
    What now?

I had some tv shows stored in a portable flash drive and downloaded them ok into my itunes library but they won't sync to my ipod. In fact they don't even show up in the list of shows in my tv summary. They play fine within the itunes library so I know they are there. Also I have podcasts from the itunes site that won't play in my library. Do they have to be converted?

  • IPod loses everything after syncing and ejecting from iTunes 11.0.4

    hey there,
After updating my iTunes to 11.0.4, I have been having trouble with syncing songs into my iPod 160GB. At the start it would sync and everything was cool until i ejected my iPod and everything in my iPod was gone, I plugged it back into my iMac and iTunes said I had to restore my iPod, I did just that. Now each time I plug my iPod to my iMac and sync songs, it would say sync complete but after i ejected my iPod, there will be nothing in my iPod and I have to continuosly restore my iPod.
I have tried reseting the iPod itself and then do a restore through iTunes but the problem won't go away. Any help will be much appreciated
    Thanks

    Hello RichardWB,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues with your iPod classic appearing in iTunes. The following article outlines potential resolutions:

  • IPod ejects immediately after syncing

So, I have no idea why this is doing this. My 80 gig iPod classic will freeze when I first connect it to my computer which uses Windows Vista. Then, once I reset it, it will connect long enough to say that it is synced, and then immediately eject itself. Also, half of the songs on my iPod either won't play at all, or will stop playing at a certain point. I have reinstalled iTunes, used different usb ports, used different cables to connect my iPod, and restart my iPod each time I try to connect it. I can't even restore the ipod to factory settings because it doesn't stay connected long enough. I am lost. help!

Try putting the ipod into disk mode then connect to your computer this should allow the ipod to stay connected for you to do a restore. for steps on how to do this try this article http://factoidz.com/how-to-fix-an-ipod-that-is-frozen-or-wont-turn-on/

  • Ipod disconnects automatically after sync

I plug in the ipod nano, iTunes auto-starts, then it tries to sync the iPod. After that sync, the nano is immediately removed from My Computer. Any subsequent attempts to sync the nano(including changing any settings) fails telling me that the nano cannot be found (probably because Windows no longer lists it as a valid drive).
If we reset the nano (with the reset utility downloadable from apple.com) and plug it back in, we tried removing the mark next to the option to autosync the nano from the Music Library. That seemed to work fine, but then - like above - after iTunes starts, the nano is immediately removed from My Computer and, once again, any subsequent attempts to sync music to the device or sync changes in settings fails.
I have also tried changing drive letter, reinstalling itunes, formatting ipod etc.
    Please help!

    Its working
I removed Apple mobile support or something from Add remove programs.
Then tried to plug in my Ipod. At first my computer did not recognize my ipod at all so I wen to the Device Manager.
My ipod was listed there under Universal Serial Bus controllers as an ipod storage device or something, however it had a yellow !, so I right clicked and chose Update driver. It was then relisted as USB Mass storage Device.
and after this update driver thing, itunes immediately started to sync my ipod for the first time in months....
great. hope this helps for anyone else too. Dont know what happens if I change playlists or anything yet, but its now syncinc to the default playlist. I am also running itunes 7.6 now. HOwever, 7.6 did not sync anything before I started to remove the Apple mobile device thing from add remove programs.

  • Voice memos disappear off iphone 4 & ipod nano 5th after syncing to mac

hi. i record voice memos on my ipod nano 5th gen and when i sync the nano to my mac they are in itunes on my mac but not on my ipod anymore. they completely disappear from the nano. there is a v.m. playlist i can see on itunes for the ipod but they are grayed out and do not show up at all on the ipod. i can play them on my mac though. since i would like to have my v.m. on a portable device i tried copying them from itunes on my mac to my iphone 4 and have had strange results. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't or a few will copy. the playlist doesn't copy to the iphone at all but if i go to the v.m. app on the phone a few will be there. help! how can i get my v.m. that are now all on my mac to one of my portable devices? thanks in advance.

nevermind. somehow now they are showing up in a music playlist on my nano. not sure if i just missed that as i was looking under extras > voice memos and not music playlists. i'm a happy camper now.

  • IPod stays "frozen" after conversion to Windows

My sister recently acquired a second-hand, 1st Gen 10GB iPod that was originally formatted for Mac. She owns an XP box, and will need to use the iPod with that computer. I've followed the instructions for formatting the iPod for Windows, and after doing the Restore, the iPod is no longer useable. It's frozen with the Apple logo on the screen. Nothing else happens, and this is the case whether or not the iPod is tethered to the machine.
All I can do to bring it back to life is plug it into my Mac Mini and reformat it for Mac. It seems to work OK then, but once I hook it back up to the Windows box and do the Restore, it's gone again.
    Any suggestions?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

there are quite a few responses to that question, but I've tried all the ones I've found and none have worked for me so I won't recommend any of them as I don't want to waste your time, it seems that its a problem with the latest version of the ipod software, ver 1.3, but I'm not even certain of that, sorry not to be more helpful
