Video is running slow in my macbook

My macbook has been running slow when playing videos. I have ran Onxy to do some cleaning but no other software installed for this purpose. what can i do to speed up my system.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive? How much RAM is in your MacBook? Increasing either or both of these may help you.

  • Help Please! Video is running slower than audio . Premiere CS6

    Hello everybaody.
I have that frustrating problem whit video runing slower than the audio. When i choose a video clip from my Phone for example(format 1980-1080 mp4 file)
It starts normal and after 4-10 seconds the video starts running slower and is getting me crazy. I thought it could be because of my hardware performance if its
not that good but actually I have a good notebook (Asus G74sx). It does happen whit most of the video files i tried but no all. Some video files are running good.
I am new to this video editing world so guys please help me and give me an advice what to do ? Its really annoying me. I have also exported some of these videos
that the picture is slower than the voice and after the export all the play programmmes are playing the same way. But when i play the videos before i touch them with
the Premiere they are running absolytely whit no problem.
Thank you for your time , and i am looking forward to hear from you guys.

  • Safari and Google Chrome running slow on my MacBook

    Hi there!
Over the last couple of weeks Safari (and Google Chrome) have started running very, very slow on my MacBook(I own a MacBook white, OS X version 10.6.8). I didn't install anything new over the last few months, so I don't think that is the problem. My Wi-Fi has been checked and that's not the problem either. Also, I emptied my cache and reset Safari, yet nothing seems to help.. Sometimes I even have to Force Quit Safari because it just stops working all of a sudden and it blocks my whole computer for over a minute. Anyone out there that can help me?

    Except for Facebook?
    Try the following:
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Premiere CC running slow on my macbook pro

So I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro and Premiere CC is running pretty slow (if there any effects at all on the timeline). And it's exporting slow. I've got a
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB video card. I have 8 GB of RAM (Maxed out). And my processor is a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7. It's supposed to be able to handle this and it's not. I have the Maverick OS. And I've updated to the 7.2.1 update for premiere (which I've heard has caused problems?). I'm considering getting an iMac so I don't have to deal with this! Help!

All the usual caveats apply, backup before you modify the system, delete the items (or move them to another disk or folder if you are worried about deleting the wrong thing) but ensure the originals are gone or updated.
Use the Finders "Go menu > Go to Folder…" to open the hidden ~/Library (your users library).
Reboot for the system changes to take effect.
I'm trimming the report back to the items I think are worth looking into…

Your RAM has been exhausted in the 19 hours the Mac has been running -

You need to do less with this system or it will always be slow…
You have CleanMyMac installed -> com.macpaw.CleanMyMac2.Agent.plist, this is know to delete system files & can also cause system instability. See the cleanmymac threads if you need help deciding if you want or need it installed.
    https://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?q=cleanmymac
Personally I think it should be removed since it won't help diagnose the issues you currently have.
    http://macpaw.com/support/cleanmymac/knowledgebase/how-to-uninstall-cleanmymac-2
You also have SIMBL - net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist, this is a 'system level hack' that can alter everything in the OS. Remove it.
    http://www.culater.net/software/SIMBL/SIMBL.php
You should also delete the plugins from the folders listed on the above page.
You also have a lot of items that open during login - remove all of them to stand a fighting chance of opening the Finder & cleaning things up.
There is a very simple test to see if all the startup & background jobs are the issue - boot into safe mode.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
If the Mac suddenly appears better it is because all the third party apps are disabled. Some things won't work in safe mode - this is normal just reboot to get the features back.
'Memory Clean' is also running - you really shouldn't be 'cleaning' memory. The OS knows what code & files it needs to access, if you 'clean' them it simply will need to reload them later. It will cause more slowness than it solves.  Mavericks is designed to handle memory better than any previous Mac OS, please don't assume you can do a better job.
    Clean up by following…
    Kernel Extensions:
    Inside /Library/Extensions/
These also load third party code, but they insert it into the 'core' of the OS. These can be safe, however you must ensure the related tools or apps are up to date, otherwise the system is basically built upon quicksand. Remove them all & see if the OS works better.
    Launchd jobs: several types
    LaunchAgents          - Stored in /Library/LaunchAgents
    LaunchDaemons      - Stored in /Library/LaunchDaemons
User LaunchAgents  - Stored in ~/Library/LaunchAgents
These are all background jobs, they are not necessarily bad, but if they are loading old code it could be doing untold damage to the performance & stability of the entire OS. Focus on the System level jobs (the ones inside /Library - the system level) also look at 'failed' jobs.
EtreCheck gives a status on launchd jobs…
    [loaded]                  - a running job
[not loaded]            - jobs that are set not to run, basically harmless, remove them unless you plan to use the associated software (if it is up to date)
[failed]                   - jobs in a crashed or unknown state, it could be forking processes or using all the system resources, remove these.
    User login items:
Applications and helpers that are managed inside 'Systems Preferences > Users and groups > Login Items tab'.
These are loaded at the 'User level', consider removing all of them whilst you troubleshoot.  When you decide to re-add them ensure the software is up to date.
    3rd Party Preference Panes: & Internet Plug-ins:
    /Library/PreferencePanes/ and ~/Library/PreferencePanes/
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
Once again these items all must be up to date, or remove them from your system. If the prefpanes manage additional software use the uninstaller or see the developers site for uninstall instructions.
Read the list of Internet plug-ins carefully, there are often duplicate Flash player versions that won't help stability, it's just wasted space too.
Don't forget to also update Safari's extensions in it's preferences (if you have any).
Re-run EtreCheck after cleaning up to see if items have returned (some apps will reload the background jobs when re-opened, so either update or remove the software).
If all of this seems like too much work consider erasing & reinstalling a clean copy of 10. The OS will run much better without years of old junk software trying to do too many things in the background. Just avoid installing too many utilities like CleanMyMac, SIMBL, Memory Clean - they do more harm than good IMO.

  • Why is my internet running slow on my macbook pro?

About a month ago I hooked up a router for me and my fiancees to use our laptops. She has a pc and I have a macbook pro. Everything was working fine, but for the past week, the internet on my mac has been running painfully slow. Her internet is working just fine, but mines is almost non-existent. I plugged the modem directly into my mac to see what happened and it worked fine then. But when i hooked up the router again it essentially stopped working again. In lamen's terms how can i fix this?

You tacked on an inactive thread.  Post your own topic and supply more detailed information to get help.
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

  • Aperture running slow on my macbook Pro

    Hi,
I have a 2.0 GHZ macbook Pro with 2G of ram and a 7200RPM hard drive. Processing runs smoothly when I first start Aperture, but gradually, the computer starts to slow down (the CPU gauge jumps), and the computer actually pauses for several seconds. It gets to the points that the changes are no longer in real-time, that is, when I adjust the saturation (or make curve adjustments), I have wait several seconds before the changes make it to screen. There are no other programs running while Aperture is running, and the files are RAW files from my Nikon D200.

This is my experience as well. Aperture is somewhat snappy at first then, over time, slows down and becomes very sluggish.
I'm currently using "only" 1 GB of ram and am considering adding a second gig. But your experience seems to indicate that 2 GB of ram does not resolve the situation.

  • Video framerate running slow for iMovie and WoW after upgrading to leopard

    I have a pretty standard powerbook g4...
    Model Name: PowerBook G4 12"
    Model Identifier: PowerBook6,8
    Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.5)
    Processor Speed: 1.5 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 1.25 GB
    Bus Speed: 167 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.9.0f0
Video Chipset Model: GeForce FX Go5200
...And I had it doing all the normal computer functions (internet, mail, iLife '06 programs) as well as playing WoW. I then install Leopard and iLife '08 and now both my imovie and WoW framerates have plummeted. (As far as the game goes, all the video options are currently at the lowest level, leading me to believe it is the OS causing the slowdown.) Is there a settings fix or software upgrade for this, or should I downgrade to Tiger?

HI Michael and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Yes, Leopard can slow down a drive. Here's something to check before you consider reverting to Tiger. Open Disk Utility from your Applications/Utilities folder. With DU open, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left. Click the First Aid tab. Now, look at the bottom of the window where it says: Capacity and Available Never allow the drive to fall below 20% available drive space. Leopard requires a minimum of 9GB of drive space alone. Using iLife/creating audio/video files takes a tremendous amount of CPU energy, let alone drive space. If you start experiencing apps freezing and crashing... you might want to revert to Tiger. Try only using one app at a time and keep an eye on available drive space.

  • Snow Leopard running slow on my macbook!

I looked up in console and found a TON of throttling on 3rd party apps that weren't completely uninstalled. So I took the rest of those out. I noticed a good speed up on my mac. But now I see this com.apple.launchd.peruser.501 com.apple.pbs throttling! What is this! that is all the console shows.
    4/17/10 7:08:55 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[550] (com.apple.pbs) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    4/17/10 7:09:05 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[550] (com.apple.pbs) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

    4/17/10 7:10:06 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[550] (com.apple.pbs) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    Please help!
    Thanks

I would be wary uninstalling or disabling the com.apple.pbs launch agent at /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.pbs.plist. I'm not aware of exactly what this utility does, but it appears to be necessary for Cocoa Applications.
    Form the man page:
    pbs -- general helper tool
    SYNOPSIS
    pbs
    DESCRIPTION
pbs is a helper tool for the Cocoa frameworks.
There are no configuration options to pbs. Users should not run pbs manually.

  • Thunderbolt is running slow

My thunderbolt is running slow on my macbook. The fastest I have tracked it has been no faster than 50MB/s. I initially thought it was the drive - my Lacie 2TB little big disc. So, I returned it and got the WD 4TB thunderbolt drive. Still having issues running slowly. It runs this speed with no other apps running. I can't even get it to run faster than this when in file transfer mode between two macbook pros. I've tested it between two different macbook pros - both 2GHz Intel Core i7. Same result on both. Is it the thunderbolt cable perhaps? I imagine though if it were the cable, it would just not work at all, instead of merely running slow.
At this point I find the whole promotion of thunderbolt to be 10Gb/s to be confusing at best, and downright misleading at worst. I get the same results from my firewire 800.
As a mac person for over 15 years now, someone please help me renew my faith in apple.

And yes, I know that it depends on the speed of the drives and not the size of the pipe, but shouldn't I at least be getting 75MB/s?

  • Macbook running slow

    Hi,
A few people have asked this question, my macbook is running very slow and the mouse spinning circle comes up quite a lot. I am unsure of why it is doing this.
I have attached a copy of the EtreCheck I have done on my system.
Can you please have a look and see if you can see if there is anything wrong, as I am unsure of what I am looking at.
    Thanks for your help

Either update or remove the Vodafone software and see whether there's an improvement.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.
