Video is slow and jumpy.

I bought a tv show from itunes and whenever I watch it on itunes the sound is pretty good but the picture is really slow and jerky. Can anyone help?

Can I burn them to disc? Are they viewable using another program?
If you're referring to videos purchased from the iTunes Store, then no, you can't burn them to a video disk, and they're only viewable in iTunes, QuickTime Player, or on an iPod or Apple TV.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Video is static and jumpy after burning disc

I digitized some old home movies in Final Cut Pro and exported them as MP2s into DVD Studio Pro, formatted the disc and burned it and the video is static and jumpy when there is a camera pan or other movement across the screen. The picture if fine when there is little movement in the frame.
The video plays fine in the viewers of both Final Cut and DVD Studio. Any suggestions?

    Hi
Please post some info about your original movie format (DV, ??) and what settings did you use to encode it to MPEG2. Besides that, you would try encoding your audio to Dolby 2 (AC3) it you didn't yet. Using AIFF uncompressed audio can cause playbak problems.

  • Why the video is slow and stutter on the viewer clip?

Why the video is slow and stutter when I drag the mouse on the cursor to check from left to right?
I just upgraded to imac 20" and I had never had this problem with my old mac. The old mac seemed to be smoother than this one.
The only difference was my 1 TB external hardrive is linkup using USB 2.0 this time round since I've not purchased the Firewire 800 yet. Does using USB 2.0 cause this problem?

I noticed something from my previous iMac. When I drag the cursor from left to right, there is no sound when I'm dragging. Thus, that makes me think that the absence of audio produce smoother flow. How do I disable the audio while I'm working on the viewer then?

Could you please review the following and determine if you have been there and done the following.
At the onset, have you assure that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premeire Elements 12?
If you go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks, where do you have the categories directed and how much free hard drive space is there?
Assuring project is set so that project preset (project settings) match properties of source media....
Open Premiere Elements 12 to its Expert workspace.
Go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, change the project preset to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p@ 29.97
Before you exit that area (in the last dialog that you see - new project dialog), make sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project".
    Back in the Expert workspace,
    a. If you attach your camera to the computer with USB, the select Add Media/Videos from Flip or Camera/Video Importer.
In the Video Importer Source: locate your camera. Set the Save In:, put a check mark next to the videos you want imported, select the choice Add to Timeline, then hit Get Media. That should put your video in Project Assets as well as on the Timeline.
    b. If you have your files saved to the computer hard drive, then use Add Media/Files and Folders to get you video into Premiere Elements Project Assets from where you drag your video to the Timeline.
Either way, do you see an orange line over the Timeline content (I am not talking about the orange line that runs horizontally through the clip). Hit the Enter key. Does the Timeline content play back in the Edit area monitor or does a Render dialog pop up? What does the playback look like and sound like in either case? Is anything improved at this point from what you were getting before?
If same as same as with the above, there would be series of questions about your computer environment.
We look forward to your results if you get a chance.
    Thanks.

  • Video playback slow and audio drop out after render

    Hi
I have downloaded a trial version of After Effects from the cc,
Problem is everytime I render ou,t the video playback is slow and the audio drops out
This happens with AVI or Quicktime files.
Using a Intel i5 quad core, 8 gig of ram 250 gig ssd.laptop
Render/export in Premire pro is fine.
    Can any one help.

    Blue Room Media.

It sounds like you might be hitting the space bar in hopes of getting real time playback.  Sorry, but AE doesn't work like that, because it does totally different things from an editing application like Premiere.
And if you've downloaded the tryout version, you really ought to learn how AE works... and a short description is "it doesn't work intuitively".  You can frustrate yourself in a hurry.
    But this can really help;

  • Watching certain video is slow and pauses on Google Chrome Browser

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me out with this.
I watch a fair amount of videos on www.cnet.com and I use Google Chrome as my main web browser.  I have a 13" MBA purchased in Jan 2011 running OS X 10.6.8
Whenever I watch the videos, the audio plays without a problem but the video will lag/stutter making it impossible to watch without wanting to throw something at my MBA.  When I try the videos on Safari there is on video lag/stutter at all.  It is not the internet connection either as you can see the video loading fine and as I said, Safari does not behave in the same way.  I know I can switch to using Safari as my default browser but I really enjoy Chrome's features and would like to keep using it.  If anyone has any ideas what the problem might be I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

Replying to an email is not the only time it lags and freezes.  I went to edit a contact's information the other day and when I clicked on the Contacts button, the iCloud Mail window lagged and froze again.  Sometimes, when I log out, the Google Chrome plug-in will crash and I have to refresh the page.

  • Flash player plays videos slow and jumpy.  Have to put on pause and wait for it to load.

Since the new Flash Player release, videos on Youtube, CNN, FOX will start to load then do a buffering, then play a little more, stop again.
When I hit on pause and let it load fully, it is the only way I can watch the video.
Unless it is a video I really want to watch, the effort takes to long.
It started with the new release of Flash Play on both my desktop with windows XP and new laptop with Windows 7.
I have spent days reviewing this forum and tried all your suggestions.
Are there any new suggestions besides all those that have already been given or do we have to just wait for a new release of Flash Player
to take care of all these bugs that I have been reading that others also have?

    Hi eidnolg,
I have great news on my end for this problem.
Researching another solution all started with the email that I received from adninjastrator ( [email protected])
about it might be something with my internet server and HiDef videos.
I phoned Qwest help line and they told me my speeds coming in for okay.
Then I sent a email to a Qwest online tech and explained how it all started about the time of  the flash player update on both of my computers.
I told them about all my trouble shooting on your forum.
Within 2 hours of my email, I got a reply back from the Qwest tech.
Quote from Qwest internet provider, email response:
I understand you are having concerns about your speed.
I have spoken to an engineer and we have made some changes.
    You should see immediate results.
I went to Youtube, CNN and FOX and they all worked.  Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what programming problem that they fixed, but it worked.
Thanks to adninjastrator for getting me started on checking with my internet server provider.
Thank you eidnolg for all your suggestions for solving this issue.
It was also a learning process for me, doing research on checking for computer problems.

  • Macbook pro running slow and jumpy after clean lion install

Did an upgrade to Lion.  Macbook pro was really slow, tried disk repair and repairing permission as well as resetting the smc.  No luck.  Did a clean install of Lion, still jumpy though a bit faster.  Again verified disk (didnt need repair) and repaired permission, as well as smc reset.  Still no luck.  Anyone have any ideas?

What do you mean, 'jumpy'? Also, has Spotlight stopped indexing? Check the magnifying class in the upper right corner and click on it. If it doesn't say it's indexing, then it completed that task. How much RAM do you have in your system?

  • Why do streaming videos play slow and choppy

    why do videos play choppy

    Hi,
This problem may not be connected to Flash Player but can be related to device driver performance, internet bandwidth issue also.

There is no audio interface, my Motif is connected to my computer using the USB port.  I have my Motif Setup whereby I have midi set to usb and sync set to internal.  When I create a midi instrument track on logic and turn the volume up to "0", I get a loud high pitched noise and then when I adjus the volume on my computer, the high pitched screech goes away, but I still don't here my keyboard through my computer and when i try to record just for the **** of it, nothing is recorded.  Thank you for your response and I hope that is all the detail you need, that it literally all I have done, I got those steps from Youtube.
Wow... are you in for a learning experience... makes me wonder why you purchased a $500 professional level recording program when Garageband (a very capable subset of Logic) would do everything you want and do a better job of teaching you the basics. From a long time user, I can say with absolute certainty it's better to learn recording/engineering/creating music in Logic from the ground up rather than the top down.
Your USB port is a MIDI Interface, it has nothing to do with actual sound.
Go read up on what MIDI is and it's capabilities.  Read the manuals.. there's several chapters that cover what you're trying to do.

  • Video runs slow on firefox and out of sync with audio with abode flash 12.

Ever since I installed adobe flash player 12 my videos run slow and out of sync with the audio it is like it pauses for a couple seconds and starts back working and keeps doing that.

    Hi jth10,
The troubleshooting steps provided by Adobe can be found here: [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_For_Windows_users]
    * Are there any settings in the Flash settings manager that changed when you updated? [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html]
*These are the recommended settings for specific resolutions [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/poor-video-quality-flash-player.html]
You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in the Adobe settings menu.

  • Why does my live video feed slow?

While watching live video on my macbook, it continually gets slower and jumpy.  I can quit and restart safari, and it works for a while, then gets slower again...What can i do?  I have this issue with firefox and google chrome as well...

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, judging by the OS X version listed in your profile, you probably have a 2006 - 2007 or maybe early 2008  MacBook.
The early MacBooks have the GMA950 or GMA3100 video chipset, and are limited to 64MB shared video RAM.
You're stuck with this. There are no upgrades.
Second, you might still have just 512MB or 1GB of system RAM memory installed in your computer.
OS X runs better with more memory. Expanding your RAM to 2GB or 4GB can increase overall system performance, because when a system gets short of free RAM memory, it buffers memory out to the hard disk, drastically slowing performance.
You can monitor how much free RAM is available with Activity Monitor. When the system gets very short of free RAM, performance lags. A high number of Page outs and Swap used will indicate the need for more RAM.
If you put the System RAM icon in your system dock, you can watch the green 'slice' of the memory pie chart get smaller and smaller as your video slows.  Closing all other apps will make the maximum amount available.
As you've discovered, quitting and restarting the browser will free some RAM memory temporarily, but eventually it fills and slows once again.
Third, you might be running out of free hard disk space. If you have less than 10GB of free hard disk space free, that lack of disk space also reduces system performance. Installing a larger and faster (7200RPM vs 5400RPM) hard disk can increase overall system performance a bit.
Fourth, Adobe Flash content, and especially Flash video is a huge resource hog. On older MacBooks, you'll often hear the fan run at full speed because the CPU is working hard and generating lots of heat. Some browsers seem a bit better than others on certain sites and certain pages, but no browser will 'cure' the problem. I use the 'Click to Flash' extension for Safari, and set the preference for HTML5 video, instead of Flash, whenever possible.
Fifth, a faster internet connection will help a little. When I went from a 512Kbit connection to a 3.0Mbit, video performance improved a bit. Moving recently to a 15Mbit connection also helped a bit more. But still no miracle cure. Using a wired Ethernet connection might give a bit better performance than WiFi, if you're not getting a good WiFi signal or there is lots of local interference.
Sixth, allow the video content to buffer completely by pausing playback until it is fully loaded before beginning to watch it. Watch at as low a resolution as possible. Watch it in partial screen, not full-screen.
If you want to spend money (a few hundred dollars), you can do all of the following:
Add system RAM up to the maximum supported by your computer
Purchase a larger, faster hard disk
Then upgrade OS X to Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8.  You now have to call Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE to purchase it, there is no more online order available.
And you'll still have a five-year-old computer with quite mediocre video performance.
The best solution in my opinion, for optimum video performance, is to save your money and invest in a newer MacBook (late 2008 aluminum or 2009-10 unibody), a MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro or recent refurb available from Apple Store online.
There has been huge progress in video chipset technology over the years, and processors keep getting smaller and faster and more energy-efficient, and now most every Mac comes with at least 4GB RAM installed. Many have SSD drives available standard or as an option. But planned obsolescence is part of the whole picture. In a few years, you'll need to buy a new machine again.
