Video is whacking in games.

I recently installed a G4MX440-T8X and it works great, until I put in a game that uses 3D. Then the colors go whacky and the screen flickers. I have updated the video card drivers, my mobo drivers, and directx. None has helped yet. I need help.

A really good start would be to list all your specs for you hardware, power supply and OS. It would save me having to get out my Crystal Ball and trying to figure out the specs myself. (My poor crystal ball has been so overworked lately.)

How can I record a QuickTime video clip of in-game action?

I've seen video reviews of games from time to time that show actual video clips of a game being played. The ability to record video clips of a game would come in very handy for me, because I'm experiencing a bug in the graphics of Call of Duty 2 that I would like to record and send as a file to Aspyr. However, I'm not sure how to record a movie of the game. (A screenshot is not sufficient.)
Can anyone give me an idea of what software to use to do this? Or do I just have to film my computer screen using my digital camcorder?

It's made by Ambrosia Software, and at only $69.00 -- for it's quality -- Snapz Pro X isn't very expensive. I haven't purchased it yet, but I've used the demo. It's easy to use, with a lot of customization available. You can download a free demo from the right side of the main Snapz Pro X page here [ http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ ] or purchase it from a link on the same page.
I would suggest downloading the free demo and trying it out, then deciding if you'd like to purchase. Any video recorded in the demo has a blue watermark "Unregistered Version Of Snapz Pro", but I believe that the demo is fully functional.

30-gig video iPod and new games

I downloaded one of the new games (Mahjong) to my WinXP iTunes (v.7.0) w/o problem, but I can't load it to my iPod (v.1.2) without getting the "can't run it on this computer" error message. {Yes, I know we can't run these games w/i iTunes on the computer .. that's not the issue!} I tried changing my iPod settings (w/i iTunes) to sync. all games .. and Mahjong was listed .. and then I tried "dragging" the game to my connected iPod .. no luck.
Any ideas?

well, perhaps sign in to iTunes Music store with the user ID that u used to buy the game... its a long shot, but it could be some weird bug.
you are using the same computer that you used to purchase the game correct?

aside from that i would suggest ringing apple, or going into an Apple store..
or, "restore" your iPod software? reinstalling iTunes..
they are rather nasty options... anyone else got suggestions?

Good am. My iPad mini would turn off on its own in the middle of a video play or a game but opens when I reopen it. This happen frequently.

Converting Flash to Video Including Interactive Content/Games

Hi All,
I've recently been tasked with converting creative Flash content to video so that it can be viewed on iPads. For standard looping ads this is fairly straightforward and even expanding rich media ads can be set up to auto expand with a little code modification which works quite well. I've been using an online file converter which works almost flawlessly, even with heavy code generated graphics and animation and it converts to MP4, Ogg Video and WebM which are the standar HTML 5 video formats. Now I've been asked to do the same with a Flash game I wrote, but now just tweaking the code slightly is not going to be adequate as the game requires constant user interaction to play effectively, so I'm looking at using some sort of framegrabber software to capture the flash screen as the game is played.
Can anyone recommend a good free framegrabber software for Mac OSX?
Any advice would be appreciated, many thanks.

Firefox freezes for up to a minute when I have two tabs open and running a video and a flash game. Why?

Firefox freezes for up to a minute when I have two tabs open, one playing a YouTube video, the other with a flash game running, and the screen shows the contents of both tabs, one superimposed on the other. If I have other tabs open, they also appear as visual garbage on the same screen. After the freeze, everything semi-works, starting and stopping, with long frozen hangs.The frequency of this problem is increasing and greatly reduces Firefox's operating capacity. I am using Firefox 5.0 on a Windows Vista desktop made by Hewlett-Packard. I have cleared the caches and the problem persists, and I can't find any online help to explain why this is happening. I don't recall it happening with a previous version of Firefox.

Video Driver update ruined games

Recently I have updated all of my drivers for my Persario CQ60 (500 series) because my CoD games were slow. And now there is no video at all... just sound.
Any idea why?

This problem only seems to come up when I use DirectX games. Other games using Java or another 3D platform seems to working.

Because the update change file stuff. Did you go back and uninstall the non working games and reinstall them sence you just updated divers. It is like for instant I just updated realplayer will during update it disabled it self in the Internet Explorer with out me knowing about it plus through out the computer system. Realplayer Technician log into my computer and went through and re enabled it. Try it and see lf that works.

Video flicker/corruption in Games

I have an issue when running UT2k3 and SofFII video games. Large parts of the video and the text within the game flicker and/or becomes corrupted. Have tried installing new drivers and old drivers etc... upgrade mobo bios and all game patches to no avail. Happens intermittenly. Driving me nuts. Can become so bad as to make the game unplayable.

My refresh rate is at 85. It is not that kind of flicker. The flicker is more of pieces of the maps/walls/text/etc. flash and/or become corrupted in graphics intense games. I have installed all the latest MSI and nVidia drivers to no avail.

Video cuts out during games - Black screen

I've been trying to troubleshoot a problem for the past few months. I've searched these forums and several others without much luck.
System:
MSI P6N SLI
Intel Core 2 6420
Silverstone ST75ZF 750w (quad +12v rail)
EVGA 8800GTS --> PNY Geforce 9800 GT XR8
Mushkin DDR2 800 1gb x2 = 2gb total --> new 1gb x2
Viewsonic VX1940w 19" LED w/ DVI
Onboard sound --> Creative XFI gamer card
x1 HDD SATA, x1 DVD RW
Playing games like Bioshock causes the monitor to go black when I encounter flashing explosions. IE Bioshock, after each death, right after the screen turns to white, the monitor goes black every time while the game continues. Cannot tab out to reset video; I have to have power cycle the monitor in order to have the video come back. Also happens on Combat Arms when I get hit with a flashbang grenade.
I changed the video card from the 8800 to the 9800 because the 8800 was extremely hot. 90C! Changing it out for the 9800 seemed to fix one game, not Bioshock or Combat Arms though. The 9800 runs cool, 50C max.
CPU runs no higher than 35C. Memory - did x86 memtest. 3 passes, no errors. I swapped out the current set of Mushkins for another set, didn't solve it. Nothing's overclocked or manually adjusted. Air-cooled case also swapped for the Antec 900; there's plenty of circulation.
I turned off the onboard sound and put in a Creative XFI card. No help. Swapped out the wifi card also - G --> N.
I've changed everything except for the mobo, CPU, power, and monitor. None of these I look forward to replacing so, MSI peeps, help!~

Did you try new drivers? Sometimes its a driver issue, since its only in a few games.
Remove ALL drivers files, with for instance drivercleaner, reboot and install the latest ones from Nvidia site.
Also, patch the games to the latest version, sometimes its a game problem.
And last, try your computer on a different screen and see if problem persists

Drivers= I have updated before to the newest drivers and wiped the previous with Drivercleaner but no difference noticed. I will try again with the latest drivers to be sure.
Different monitor = yes, I will check that eventually.

Can I stream video and audio from Game Center Live to my HDTV using Apple TV?

I am trying to stream hockey games from Game Center Live to my HDTV through a cabled ethernet connect to my Macbook Air and then wirelessly to my Apple TV. Apparently my Apple TV cannot find my Macbook Air because I cannot make the connection. Alternatively, I have heard that I might be able to access Game Center Live directly with my Apple TV but I'm not sure how to do that. Any advice is most appreciated.

You can only access content directly through a native app on Apple TV. To stream from your MBA you would need to use airplay mirroring, which will require a model from 2011 or later running OS X 10.8 or later. The alternative would be to use a 3rd party program like Airparrot, results vary to use the trial first.

Clean the dock connector and headset plug of any lint/debris.
Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.
Try a search in the future for a faster resolution.

The Video. . um, Card Game

Grrr. I hate having to change hardware, but I need a little more "oomph" for Motion and as I've just placed my order for FCS2, it's likely that I'll need it even more now.
I've been running an Nvidia GeForce 7800GT. Looking around it seems the Radeon X1900 G5 Mac Edition is about the only step up without going to that ridiculously priced quadra thingy. What's not very clear to me is just how much better is it really going to be if I upgrade to the Radeon? I mean real world kind of stuff with Motion and not some esoteric spec or benchmark that seems to only apply to gamers, or to no one. Sure, I wish I had the time to learn how to interpret all the specs, but it just doesn't hold an interest for me.
I searched the forums, but didn't find anyone doing the same upgrade path, which makes me wonder. . . .
Or maybe I just need someone to hold my hand. Or, maybe I'm just anxious to give somebody points today. Hey, any knowledge shared is appreciated.

Playback depends also on screen resolution. I've just check it.
2 days ago I changed (finally) my old two CRT monitors (the main screen was 1400x1050) for ADC 30" (with 2560x1600). And what I saw now: "Globe" project runs 22 FPS, insted of 25 on smaller res. on CRT. As I expected the rendering time didn't change and still is 22 sec.
If I turn off "indent" my frame rate increases to 23fps

It looks that Motion for rendering uses mainly GPU. Check again "DNA" project: open Activity Monitor and once again render it. On my comp. it looks that only one core is working. I saw CPU usage up to 99.3 percentage. Why the second core doesn't work? I supppoese that in your computer also only one core will work and the remaining cores will be "sleeping", am I right?.
I am curious how it will be with Motion3. I suppose that it will use 4 and even 8 cores of the processor. Hm...?
BTW, "DNA" project playback 3 FPS on my comp. (in 2560x1600)
The most interesting (but a litlle funny or rather strange) is OpenGL test. Now with this bigger res. I received about 3.5 times worst results. So, I also think that testing applications are little out of real life. I prefer to do test with a stopper in the hand, checking real 3D, Motion, FCP and Photoshop projects.
Please let me kow what resolution do you have.
Do you have Cinema 4D or Strata 3D? We can also do some 3D tests. This is really interesting.
I've never used you NVIDIA 7800GT card, so my knowledge is based on some tests which I found on some web sites, but as you see it's better to check on some real projects and compare the cards and the computers.
But on those web sites I saw that my card (although is never) is a kind of "equivalent" of 7800GT. But now I am not so sure.
