Video jerks a bit after dip to white transitions?

I noticed that even before exporting, and viewing in Premiere, that after any dip to white happens, the very next frame of video jerks a bit. Doesnt happen in dissolves.. Happens on either still images or video. Any clues?

  • Dip To White Transition

    hi
i make a movie with "PiP" and i would like to apply a " Dip to White" transition which will affect only on the "PiP".
i really cant find a way to apply it to the "PiP".
    thanks for helping

Here is an example of what can be done.
The two images are on their own sequence so that I could dip to white between them. Also, it made it easier to use the corner pin effect to put the image on the iPhone. I did have to rotate the image sequence 90 degrees before I used the corner pin.
For the titles, I chose to go a different way. Since the background I was putting the text on is white, it was easier to just set the titles where I wanted them using the Motion effect's position and scale parameters and then dissolve to nothing and dissolve from nothing. That nothing being white, of course. Otherwise, a different sequence could have been used for the titles too.
Edit:  This is what the timeline looks like.
If this is what you had in mind, and you have any additional questions, please let me know. I can put  little tutorial together if necessary.

  • Dip to White Transition and Shadow / Highlight creates flickering. Workaround?

Here's what my layers look like:
    Top
    - Adjustment Layer including MANUAL Shadow / Highlight with some static values -
    - video clip 1 - dip to white - video clip 2 - dip to white - video clip 3 - etc... -
    Bottom
When it renders, there is a discoloration and a flicker on every single transition. This does NOT happen with the dip to black transition.
I believe what's happening is that the Shadow/Highlight is doing its thing on the transition itself. S/H continually tries to bring out detail in the highlights as the frame is being whited out. What there SHOULD be is an option for Shadow/Highlight to only be applied to video clips but ignore any transitions that are applied to the clips.
I do NOT want to drag Shadow/Highlight into each clip separately because the settings for it are way easier to manage in one adjustment layer than in 50+ individual clip settings.
Does anyone have a good, efficient workaround for this?.

the Shadow/Highlight is doing its thing on the transition itself.
Adjustment layers work on everything below, so yes, that's precisely what's happening.
there SHOULD be is an option for Shadow/Highlight to only be applied to video clips but ignore any transitions that are applied to the clips.
There is.  Apply the effect to the clip, rather than to an Adjustment Layer.  It's the only way, regardless of effect, because like I said, adjustment layers work on everything below.  (That's kind of their purpose.)

  • Can I edit 'Dip to White'

I am using the 'Dip to White' transition.
Can I edit it so that it starts 100% white and the fades out or do I have to live with the fade in then out?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the follow up.
As always, good to give Premiere Elements/computer info with questions.
In Premiere Elements versions earlier than 11, one would double click the transition placed on the Timeline and the Transitions Adjustments area would appear, presenting the opportunity to do that 50% setting for A as I suggested.
But, in Premiere Elements 11, there is a bit of a twist in getting to that A and B set. As you found out (good work), after you place the transition, you get an automatic pop up which appears to target transition alignment, not the A B sets. But, if you click the "More" button seen toward the bottom right of that pop up, you see a fuller Transitions Adjustments area which includes the A B set opportunities.
Automatic Pop Up With Placement of Transition
Expaned Transition Adjustments area after "More" is clicked on in the intitial pop up.
Glad that you are moving forward in your Premiere Elements projects.

  • TS2709 I have AppleTV and Ipad2 running VJay app to my TV over a private cisco router disabled firewall but I keep loosing the video on my TV after a few minutes what can I do?

I have AppleTV and Ipad2 running VJay app to my TV over a private cisco router disabled firewall but I keep loosing the video on my TV after a few minutes what can I do?

I also get this problem on my iPad, so probably not related to the AppleTV. On the iPad I restarted Airport Extreme this time, and then the iPad saw my Home Sharing.
So to recap, restarting the router or Airport Express allowed the iPad and AppleTV to see Home Sharing. Restarting AppleTV also allows AppleTV to see Home Sharing.
So does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks

  • When i stream from mac mini to apple tv the video jerks

I have a Mac Mini and a 2ed gen Apple TV , when I stream from the mac to the Apple TV the video jerks and some time frezes, I have checked the WiFi and the Internet all are strong, streaming from my Iphone and Ipad are great. what am i doing wrong

...or it could be caused by Apple crap. I'm having the same problem. On a WIRED connection from my MacMini to an Apple TV. The network runs fine with my Windows laptop and iPad. Video streams nicely from my iPad on WiFi, but lots of jerkiness when I watch a movie from my MacMini via Apple TV, regardless of whether I'm on WiFi or wired.
Doesn't take much to work out that the problem is with the MacMini and/or Yosemite. I'm also having problems with my Internet connection slowing or cutting out intermittently, so I wonder if they're connected.

How do you add a video on i-pod after you set it to manual and not erase a ton of stuff in the process?
    Thanks

after choosing the manually manage your songs you will not be able to add videos by clicking "update". all you going to do.. after converting videos compatible to ipod video, click your ipod on the left portion of the i tunes it will immediately show your songs from your ipod then drag the selected video from its folder to your i tunes just like adding songs to your ipod

You formatted your computer's hard drive? If so, it's like starting with a new computer unless you restored all of your content from a backup but it does;t sound like that's the case.

  • Common video dimensions and bit rates for dynamic streaming?

I'm going to be converting my videos to flv and am trying to decide what to use for video dimensions and bit rates.  Some of my users have slow computers and connections so I'm thinking 150 on the low end.
Is there a common practice?  What has worked well for you in the past?

    Hello MrWizzer
I am not sure what FMS version you are currently using.
Well, if you look at the sampe vod folder that ships with FMS4.5, it has files encoded @ 150kbps, 500 kbps, 700 kbps, 1000 kbps, 1500 kbps.
I am sure that all of these files stream perfectly fine given the correct bandwidth environment.
Its totally depend upon the FMS hosting service provider depending upon the user base of a particular provider.
You need to judge what kind of BW is available to your viewers and put the files encoded at appropriate bitrates.
You may also look at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/beginning-fms45-pt06.html for refrences.

  • How can I add a dip to white at the beginning of a clip?

How can I add a dip to white at the beginning of a clip?  I know where to find it on Pr, but I'm new to AE.  I have 2 clips that need to transition one to the other.  The first clip ends by dipping to white; therefore, I need to either dip to white at the beginning of the 2nd clip & line them up so they overlap well, OR I need to find a white transition to place between them like in Pr.

Make a whote solid.  Animate its opacity from 0 to 100 and back again.
You'll use couple-three layers -- no automatic transitions in AE.  That's what Premiere's for.

  • Video chat breaks down after a few seconds

    Hi. I need help.
iChat video chat breaks down after a few seconds. Audio is ok if I begin with it, but doesn't work after a failed video chat. The message that pops up afterwards tells me (in Swedish) that "No data was received during the last 10 seconds. Info about audio channel: local machine uses [IP]:16402 and expects remote machine to send to 83.xxx.xxx.xx:43787." Repeats the same for video channel. What am I to do with the network settings to make this work. I have now realized that this is not a software problem (since upgrading to 10.6/iChat 5.0 didn't solve anything) so it must be the router or my new Time Capsule's settings. But where do I start?
    Thank you in advance,
    Rikard

Hi and thanks for your help,
I have now had a chance to try the chat again, works fine at first but after say 3-5 minutes the connection breaks in the same fashion as before, unfortunately.
One thing I noticed when flicking on Back to my Mac (just to try it for fun in Snow Leopard - it's never worked for me!) it first turned green, after which it said the familiar: that my router must be capable of UPnP or NAT-PNP. Funny, that was what I thought I had... Could this be connected to the iChat problem do you think?
About the NAT tab: it is really gone when Bridge mode is on, but it reappears when I change from Bridge mode, and when I did it really was on (by default?). I turned it off and changed back to Bridge mode. I have switched off ping as you said. No port scan or DOS/SPI switch anywhere.
I found a iChatConnectionError Log in my Library folder, here it is. Can you read anything from it? Sorry if I quote too much of it.
Thank you ever so much for your help and patience!!!
    Cheers,
    Rikard

  • "dip to white" not functioning properly

When you place the "dip to white" effect on a clip and double click to edit the effect settings, the start value does not seem to work properly any more.
It used to be that one could move the start slider to 50% so that the clip would start with a hard cut to white, then fade into the shot. In fact, when you select "show actual sources" it indicates that that is precisely what it will do. However, it does not behave as expected either in the source window or the timeline.
Note, I am not using this as a transition between 2 clips but as a hard flash from white into a clip.
In Premiere Pro 5.5 it worked fine like this but something seems to have changed in 6.0.
    Any thoughts?

I can reproduce this issue with GPU on.
    Looks like a bug.
If you turn off GPU hardware it will perform as expected.
As workaround drop a white color matte under the transition.
    And...

When syncing, check the Movies/TV Shows Tab in the iPhone menu, and make sure ALL movies are synced (or select the ones you want to sync)
