Video Menu in Encore 2.0

Hey all,
I'm trying to put video as the background of my menu for a dvd using Encore 2.0.  I've split my video into two parts, the first playing as a 'first play' timeline and then going into a looped menu that I created in AE.
I've linked and avi to the background of the menu and tried importing it as an AE comp and both end up being a static image of the first frame.  please help, our deadline is tomorrow
-Than

Go to File>Render>Motion Menus. This should take care of that static image, if you've done everything properly.
Good luck,

  • How do I add mpg background video behind a psd menu in Encore?

How do I add mpg background video behind a psd menu in Encore? The psd file is transparent and it still comes out as pitch black behind the menu. I'm inexperienced with these products so any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have done what Russ describes and it does not work...
Encore replaces the background layer with your motion video. So make sure you have a) a layer at the bottom (in Photoshop layer order) that is named "background," and b) no other full layer above that (for example, an image in another layer you've used instead of the original background layer).
Also keep in mind that setting transparency in Photoshop is overridden by various Encore processes.

  • After effects video menu problem

    Hi
I have made an after effects video menu for import into a new encore project. I have assigned buttons in AE, have rendered the work out as Mpeg2DVD. How can I now turn this into a fully functioning menu? I cant seem to import the mpeg2 file as a menu.
    What have I missed please?
    Many thanks

This was CS3, but really same workflow.

Basically, the actual menu is created in Encore, the AE part is a background.
I think there are other tutorials out there too.
Edit:  Here's the help for CS5 that spells this out as well:

  • Motion Menu in Encore

I have read about 2-3 tutorials on this so I really thought I had it down but I cannot seem to get it to work. Everything is made, background static image is a PSD file which is the exact as the end result of the AVI background video file. I import the PSD file as a menu, then import the AVI file as a asset. ALT and click it over so its listed under the Video listing but when I preview it, its just the static menu. I have also tried Rendering it and doing Build DVD after Rendering it and its still just the static menu. What am I missing here? This is Encore 2.0

    > have read about 2-3 tutorials on this
If you meant this literally, did you not "do" the tutorials? I find that many tutorials require "doing" to uncover one or more issues that I misunderstood (whether my fault or the author's).
On your specific problem, Jeff will get you sorted out. Now that I think about it, I think this happened to me once because I developed the bad habit of, while editing a menu in photoshop, leaving the original background as a not visible layer and so my "new" background was not properly labeled as the background and therefore not being replaced when I selected the video background in Encore.

  • Video menu with buttons

I am creating a menu using after effects. I have all my buttons in place when i want them to appear, but i don't know how to bring it back into Encore. I've tried "create button" in after effects but once i bring it back into encore i can't figure out how to make it work as the button. And once i assign a video to a button my video menu doesn't play anymore. Does anyone know how to make this work?

You create the menu in Encore (or Photoshop); the end product of the AE project is a video background.
    Review this encore help file.
Edit: I suspect that you did not turn off the visibility of the AE buttons.
Here is a tutorial (in CS3) that starts with an Encore menu and pulls it into AE for the animated background.
You can also do the buttons in AE - not something I've done.  Here's the relevant help page.

  • Music Videos into Music Video menu on iPod

OK - so for years now I've been buying CD singles with the videos on, and spend many hours now converting them to iPod using QT Pro so I can finally watch them on my iPod. So converting to an MP4 using the H.264 codec took forever (at least 3 hours for a 4 min 320x196 video), so I opted for the standard MP4 as this is much quicker. Drop them into iTunes and YAY! I can sync them.
The music videos play flawlessly - I'm very happy with that aspect, but the bit that annoys me the most is why they don't show up under the Music Videos sub menu in Videos. Instead I have to go to Movies and then to a play list I created called Music Videos.
Perhaps its because of the genre? Well thats what I thought - as after looking at a friends music video he has bought from the iTMS, the only difference I can see is the genre. So I added Music Video to the genre and synced my iPod, expecting them to all of a sudden appear in that sub menu. But alas no.
So the question: is it possible to get home ripped/converted music videos from CDs or elsewhere onto the iPod to display in the Music Videos menu? If not WHY WHY WHY??!
    thanks in advance.
    pac

After you convert a video and put it into itunes it is defaulted to being a movie. But you can specify it as a music video. Select a music video within your itunes library. Select the info for that video. A seperate window appears. Go to the options window and winthin that area you can select what type of video that certain file is whether a movie or music vidoe. Select the proper video type and then that converted video will appear within the music video field on yoru itunes and ipod after syncing.

  • DVD menu in Encore from DVD markers in timeline

How can I use the DVD markers on the timeline in Premiere Pro (thus also in Encore) to build a DVD menu in Encore. In premiere pro 2 where the DVD authoring was included the DVD markers automatically presented themselves as a DVD menu.

I edit most Projects into "scenes" or "chapters," on separate Sequences. In Encore, I usually have one En Timeline per Sequence, or Chapter. However, one CAN have one long Timeline, where the Chapters are deliniated via Markers.
When you say "I cannot get more than one scene in the menu." I am not sure that I am following you. You should be able to have 16, or 32 (depends on the Aspect Ratio of the Menu) Buttons, per Menu (total Buttons), and each linked to a Chapter in your Encore Timeline. What exactly is happening, when you try to link your Buttons to the Chapters?
Good luck, and let us know a bit more, as I do not think that you will need to re-do your Project in PrPro, or probably not even in Encore.

  • Change Background in Menu Creation  Encore CS4 and Photoshop

I am creating a menu using Encore and Photoshop. I Used the Encore Libray to create a blank background and also created a series of buttons adusting them in Photoshop CS4. However, when I try to change the background with a new jpg or psd file I open the picture in Photoshop but not as the new background layer  I am trying to achieve. Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong?

    Dear Bill,
Thank you for your prompt reply. However, I don't think I am explaining my problem correctly so if you have the patience I am sending you this little "Jing" movie which will show you my problem

Subject: Change Background in Menu Creation  Encore CS4 and Photoshop
There should be no problem when adding the image of your choice, with Edit in Photoshop.
When you choose Edit in Photoshop, several things happen:
1.) a TMP PSD for that Menu is created.
2.) links are created between En and PS
3.) PS is launched, and that TMP PSD is then Opened in PS.
When one has edited that TMP PSD in PS, they must do a Save to allow those links back to En*.
If you are doing a Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, those links will NOT be followed, and the Menu will NOT update in En.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
I have encountered some instances, where a single Save does not follow those links. With experimentation, I have found that 3 Saves (Ctrl+S) will force those links to be followed, and the Menu updated in En. Not sure why this happens sometimes, but 3 seems to be the "magic number," at least for me.

  • DVD Video Menu Compression

Hello all. I am putting together my first video menu for my DVD and had a few questions on compression. I have a into movie, in which the last frame of the movie becomes the DVD menu (40 seconds in length). The other movie I have made is a simple transitions into the track selected (7 seconds). Would a MPEG2 setting of a one-pass set at 7mbps be ok or should I lower the bit rate? Should I go with a two pass VBR? I'm using DVD SP 4.03 and Compressor 2.01.
    Thanks all

I just made my first test DVD and I see a slight shift in the gamma, but nothing too horrible. I can live with it. The button placement all seems fine, no huge jumps. So here's what I did:
I created the into in Motion 2.01 with a project size of 720x480. I exported and converted to MPEG2. For my still graphic menu, I went to the last frame of the Motion created intro project and exported that frame as an uncompressed TIFF. I then imported my stuff into DVD SP 3.02 and made a new track for the intro and set the end jump to my created menu from the TIFF.
It all seems to work quite well. The only thing that really bothers me is the slight hick-up from the intro to the menu, but I was expecting this from the start.
While doing this, I was rolling around the idea of making the entire menu a continuous movie, making the intro movie and menu all one longer movie. Obviously, the reason I didn't try this yet is because I have a full DVD already and space is an issue. But in future projects, would this be a wise choice to bypass the hick-ups and color shifts?

  • No TV Shows Option In Video Menu plz help

Hi, so I just got my first Apple product today. (30gig Black Video)
    I love it so far.
Only thing I'm having trouble with the TV Shows option.
It does not show up after Syncing my IPOD
I have set a couple videos to be marked as TV Shows but when I do so I cannot see them due to TV Shows not being an option in my video menu section.
When I mark the videos as movies they show up fine in that section.
Also, even though they don't show up when marked as TV Shows they due show up in Video Playlists->Recently Added.
Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks

I really had a feeling it was something along those lines.
A few quick questions to clear the rest up:
If I use a metatag editor, will that allow my private videos to display under the TV shows Area?
If I purchase a TV Show from itunes and it allows the TV Shows menu to show up, will other videos AT THAT POINT be viewable under TV shows if marked as such?

  • Can a button be placed and selected on a video menu?

I'd like to create a main menu from a short video loop and place one or two buttons at certain locations. Can this be done? The video would stop and then connect to the button's track, right? Would I be able to have sound attached to the button's click? Should I make a duplicate video menu with the (linked-to) sound?

You can set up a motion menu and set a loop point (or you can add buttons to movie tracks) and the buttons can be placed on the menu. When the video reaches the end of the motion it will jump back to the loop point.
Usually a button being pressed will pause a motion menu (sometimes more obivious than others based on the player) and then jumps to the track. You can find a workaround to fake a button click sound via transitions (but most do not use that in DVDs) but if you are thinking something akin to mouseDown events in Director or Flash, that is not available as a command

  • Video shaking in Encore CS 5

I'm trying to burn my film to DVD via Encore, but it seems no matter what I do, the final result is shaky video (both in Encore's DVD preview and on the actual disc itself if I burn it). It basically looks like the video is constantly shifting ever so slightly up and down.
I have tried using dynamic link to send the sequence directly to Encore, and I have also tried exporting as MPEG-2 DVD with field set to "none" (the source is 1920x1080 25p video). The shaking doesn't occur if I just play that MPEG-2 file directly in VLC, or in any other type of file I've ever exported, but I have never managed to get an Encore project not to shake. I'm guessing it has something to do with the settings I have in Encore somewhere, but the project settings for a DVD don't really allow me to change anything, and I'm not sure where else the issue might be.

I always export AVCHD from PPro to Widescreen DV AVI (to then let Encore do automatic transcoding while building the DVD file) with the default settings... which I **think** are lower field first, for a DVD

  • Inconveinient video menu how to change?

    hi,
I have a 16gb itouch and a 5.5 gen video and before on my video when you selct videos it is all in a list and categorized not spilled out everywhere. does anyone know how to change the itouches video menu so that when u select videos it goes like movies, tv, music videos, podcasts, cause i find it really annoying haveing al my movies in a list to then see a folder with tv and then see spiled music vids again

    The video menu is organized.
You will see a Header for Movies-movies are listed underneath.
TV shows are next-header for TV shows-then the shows are listed. If you have multiple episodes of same show-you see listing for TV show, tells how many episodes-if you select, goes to screen showing the episodes for that show.
    Etc, etc.

  • Did Lion's iTunes remove the video menu options to increase size and reduce size?

Did Lion's iTunes remove the video menu options to increase size and reduce size?
Is the ability to shrink or expand the video window from a menu item now really gone?

Itunes has not changed in Lion in this regard, you can still go to fullscreen from the menu, and use your input device to make the video window larger and smaller. does that help?

  • Can i create a multi audio video CD in Encore 5 (CS5.5)?

    Hi All,
I was wondering, is it possible to create a multi audio video cd in Encore 5 (CS 5.5)?
Basically i have 5 music tracks that i wish to be able to be played as normal in a CD player, but i would like to add a video to that that can be played on a PC.
I have a few commercial CD's which have this (ie when they are inserted in a PC they open additional pc content) but i have a project i need to finish which would require this.
Is it possible? And how do i go about doing it?
    Thanks in Advance :-)

You cannot do this in Encore, AFAIK - but I will have a look in case I am mistaken.
VideoCD uses MPEG encvoding but this is roughly where the similarity ends - VideoCD uses 44.1KHz audio, not 48KHz.
Commercial CD that have additional PC content are again different animals - the way these discs (which are called "CD-Extra" or "CD+") are normally created is in a multi-session CD creation tool. You create the audio content first, then when you write the disc you do not close or finalize the session but leave it open - then you go into CD-ROM mode and add the additional content, this time closing the session.
Such discs can be created quite easily in GEAR Pro Mastering Edition, or WaveLab. What OS are you running please?
You would need to prepare the content outside of the final authoring tool, and commercial CD can (and often do) use Director created content or Flash created content - the down side to Flash is that it will not work on a Mac. You can also create the videos in Quicktime Pro - simply load into it your regular full scale version, and then export for web - this will create 3 separate versions at varying quality (Smart Phone, iPhone & iPad are the references although all will work on your CD-Extra disc.
Please post back if you need more assistance
