Video Messages Stored Location in Mac
I would like to ask, where are the skype video messages under Mac OS X stored?
Is there a specific temporary or not folder where skype saves the received and delivered video messages? It would be really helpful if someone knows.
Thanks in advance.
Hey, First, play your video message in Skype, and pause it midway. Then go to:~/Library/Application Support/Skype/<username> and find the file "main.db". Copy/paste this file, and create "main copy.db" (otherwise you will be prevented from reading "main.db", because it is in use). Next you need to download an SQLite database browser (there are a couple online which are free). Open the "main copy.db" file, and select the "VideoMessages" table. Click to show all entries in the table, and you will find your voice message there. One of the columns will say "vod_path", which is a direct link to the file on the Skype servers. You can then simply download it.

Exporting them into imovies takes too much disk space (i.e. 50 GB per hour)
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
ThanksI had exact same problem wanting to play mts files i'd recorded on my HD video camera. I had about 45GB in mts formart.
I now use a program called Wondershare Video converter ultimate. You can tell it to save them in various formats Apple TV being one of them.
Really easy to use and if like me you have 5 or 6 (or more) shorter recrdings of the same event you can merge these into one file for a longer length movie clip.
Really easy to use and well worth the money it cost. (only about UK £45)
..... in fact just read you message again and you have the exact same camera as I do! -
Using my ichat to video message non-MAC users
I have a macbook and have two (remote) family members who use Windows OS'. We are all new to video messaging but I have been impressed with what the short goes I have had on ichat.
Can anyone recommend any (video) webchat software that my family can download that will allow them to chat with me on ichat. I want to avoid downloading any additional webchat software given how good ichat seems. Needs to be free and easy to install.

How to save video messages to a file on Mac?
How to save video messages to a file on Mac? Please, help. Thank you.Claire
Claire, I use a Mac w/ the latest copy of Skype and it IS possible to first play the file and then download it. Steps are available for it but it involves some technical wizardry that can be above some muggles. Then I found a post where some some VERY bright person made a small downloaded program for the Mac which once the video message has been played recently, you can run this program and download the file for safe keeping ( ALWAYS BACKUP or store it in the cloud for safety ) Kudos are deserved to user alvarop for this! http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Video-Message-Exporter-App/m-p/2351609 It worked for me to download a video message that I recently played back. Let me know if you need any assistance getting it downloaded you can PM me on here and I'll be happy to help with a screenshare. Best Regards,-Shawn G

Mail:Cannot erase messages from Deleted Messages folder located on my mac
Hi,
I recently ran a script to discover that I have hundreds of thousands of messages sitting in the Deleted Messages folder located on my mac. I tried to erase them but no luck, no error messages of any kind but the messages are still there. Can anyone help with me with this as these unwanted messages are taking up a lot of space. I have run a disk verify just to check permissions etc and all is ok.
Many thanksHi,
Many thanks for you reply. Yes it looked like the deleted messages from an old exchange account I had had were sitting in a folder on my mac and this was visible in the sidebar. However it was not simply called deleted messages it was named deleted messages (xxx xxx) where xxx xxxx was the name of the old mailbox. So when I went to mailbox to erase deleted messages this folder was not picked up. So I moved everything in the folder to the trash folder (took a long time) and then selected the option to erase trash on quitting. It took hours and hours when I quit mail but I left it running overnight and now the folder is empty and mail is functioning ok. Thanks again for your help -

I sent my friend a video message, and for the past 24 hours it has been stuck at 99% and simply wont send. There has been no error message. I tried restarting Skype and restarting my computer. Now, the icon has even turned black and I'm starting to think it isn't even on the Skype server or anything... Also, is there any way for me to view the video while it's sending?

For Windows users, follor this guy's tutorial.
http://www.petri.com/save-skype-video-messages.htm
For Mac users, the porcces is similar but finding the files can be a bit more difficult if you dont know exactly what to look for.
Start by downloading http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser/files/sqlitebrowser/3.4/sqlitebrowser-3.4.0.dmg/downlo...
We will use this program to open main.db which is located here: /Library/Application Support/Skype/*your skype username*/main.db
Open sqlitebrowser and drag the main.db file into it. This file contains all of your chat history.
Next click the "Browse Data" tab at the top. Select the "Table" dropdown menue and click on "VideoMessages". This will essentially give you a spreadsheet of all of the information for every video messege you have ever sent or recieved.
Scroll to the right and find the "author" collumn. Use this and the "creation_timestamp" column to help locate the video message you were trying to send.
Once found, you can see, in two other columns, the "local_path" and/or the "vod_path".
Since we are trying to resend a video message you created, we are going to use the local path. Double click on this. A window should appear with the path highlighted. However, we need to deselect the actualy .MOV file name. do this, then press Command-C.
Go to "Finder", "Go", and then "Go to Folder" and past the path into the text box. Press enter and the folder in which your video message is stored will appear. Reference the sqlightbrowser to find the exact name of you video message, and then copy your .MOV file to a more convenient location. You can then go back to skype and send the video message as a normal attatch ment.
Voila! You just resent your video message.

Using a network-stored catalog with Mac OSX
Greetings all.
I am using Photoshop Elements 11 on Mac OSX Mountain Lion and want to store my catalog on a local network drive (FreeNAS). I have encountered many problems while attempting to do this. Then I noticed in the Elements Organizer help, under the section "Repair a catalog", the following: "Note: (Mac OS) You cannot access catalogs present on a network drive."
Is this true. or has someone found a workaround to the problem?
Thanks!
--JohnThanks, for that ( I assume we have to carry on in English due to forum policy even though we are both of German tongue I assume)
You mean the access problems are part of the "no network drive" thing? I suspected that. Took me a whole day in front of my computer to realign the mess. So should one better not use the network drives at all? Quite a pity in times where everybody seems to use network storage.
No, I did not use organizer to use the photos. So there is no way to reconnect them? Should I delete the catalogue and start with the photos from scratch?
Regards
Andibuch

Well, yes, these are part of the "no network drive" thing.
As for moving the photos, did you use organizer to move them? You will always have trouble if you move photos outside of organizer, even on the same drive--you have to let it manage your photos or it doesn't have a clue as to what happened.

Sharing DV video on externl HD between Mac & XP
Hi, I tried finding a post regarding this already but I'm still unclear. I don't know alot about media formats and if different OSs store them differently.
My situation is:
1. I have an external HD (320gb) and I created 2 partitions, one for mac and one for Windows XP (which is run via Bootcamp)the format for both partitions is FAT32.
2. I have the editing software Premiere Pro for XP and Final Cut Pro for Mac. I want to be familiar with both.
When I import DV media from my video camera and that original media is saved in the ext HD, separately from my projects (whether it's FCP or PP) can I pull that original media and use it on either programs?
For example, I import media while in Mac, that original media is stored on the Mac side of the ext. HD, can I use that original media when I'm in XP using Premeire?
So I guess I'm also asking does Windows import DV in a different format than Mac?
If the format is not any different would it be to my advantage to have a 3rd partition dedicated to just DV media so they don't lost/mixed up between the two partitions?
I hope my questions is not too confusing, thanks for the help.

Can't get Send Video Message under conversation tab to be black
Put in new contact and when I try to video call can't get thru...I see under the conversation tabb that Send Video Message is greyed out. How do I get it to black to be able to send a message?
It seems to be an ongoing issue the last couple of days..there's a few posts already discussing it in the forum. I found that if I sent the photos from my verizon acct on the iphone, it uploaded to the gallery fine..so it's a .mac account problem i think. Try it through another acct and I don't think you'll have a problem. It had always worked fine for me sending from my mac account until this weekend.

Where are the backup files of the iPhone stored on the Mac?
Hi, I made a backup of the iPhone 3G for a friend who wants to go back to a Qtec machine... I could save and restore his pictures and contacts. Now, what about the SMS, do you know where they are stored on my Mac, so that I can restore his messages (the formating might be another problem on a PC or PC-like Handheld). Thanks to all for your contribution (I guess it must be in the Users/Library folder, but where?). Patrick
