Video on 3G: what am I doing wrong?
So when I'm at home you tube videos look fine ( well most of them anyway). But today I signed up for 3G plan and thought I would look at some ids on you tube... And now they are all grainy and horrible looking?
Is there some setting or something I need to tweak? Or can I only watch vids at home? Which isn't right. This is a mobile device right? And given the extra cost of getting the 3G version i thought I'd be able to watch videos while out.... But if the quality of them is always like this, then 3G is useless for video watching.
Anyways, hoping it's some setting or something I need to change. Any thoughts?
Oh, well that ***. I thought 3G was some really amazing fast connection thing.
Sheesh man, if I can't watch video on 3G there's no pint in getting the unlimited plan then i guess.
Yeah I have wireless router at home...
So 3G is actually LESS powerful than my cisco wireless connection through the cable company. Interesting.

You may want to check ur settings. when you plug in ur ipod make sure it is highlighted then at the top of the page you will see tabs Summary Music Podcast Info....click on the MUSIC tab...in that box there will be 2 options:
Sync Music
Entire Music Library
Selected playlist, artist, albums, and genres
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF ENTIRE MUSIC LIBRARY

MAc won't save youtube video anymore. What am I doing wrong?
I was trying to save a video from youtube as I did a 1000 times before. Now when I try, every program/site I use (KeepVid for instance), will turn the .mp4 video file in a .txt file. Basically the file name will be something like video.mp4.txt
I tried to change the file ext but it doesn't work... What did I do wrong? Any idea?

Not knowing what "as I did a 1000 times before" means, I cannot comment as to what you may be "doing wrong." However, when I went to the KeepVid site I managed to download two files "as I normally do" and both (one YouTube FLV and one KeepVid MP4) downloaded using Safari as playable movie files under Snow Leopard. -
TS2755 Can't get Netflix to load & videos on facebook,what am I doing wrong?

Flash Player has to be downloaded, installed and then "Allowed".

Poor quality on multiple level video export. What am I doing wrong?
I'm having a problem with exporting a video I've been working on with FCPX.
The output file looks like it's being screened on a venetian blind with very small slats - ie the image appears to be made up a lots of narrow horizontal panels. I also get a kind of striated effect around all the edges (which I managed to eliminate in my latest attempt - see below)
The video looks fine in FCPX - it's only when I export Media that I'm seeing this problem.
The sections that I'm having this issue with consist of a background texture generator in the Timeline, and two layers of video clips above that. The video clips are resized and positioned top left and bottom right of the screen (overlapping in the centre), so that you can see two separate video clips playing over a background. At different points one or other of the clips expands to fill the whole screen.
The clips are variously original clips, compound clips, and a compound clip with slo-mo video in it.
(The reason for doing this is that it's 2 cameras following 2 separate, but simultaneous, processions. Sometimes I cut between them, but I also want to see both processions at the same time during the piece).
I've tried exporting using standard settings, Apple ProRes 244, and h.264, and I've gotten the best result so far by exporting to Compressor and using MPEG2 for DVD settings, with De-interleave turned on and giving it two passes. That got rid of the striations, but i still get the panel effect.
If I export a different section of the video, that only uses 2 layers of video (without the background generator, and with one layer of video in the Timeline), then the resulting export looks ok even with a standard settings Export Media, so I'm assuming that it's something to do with the attempt to give the images a background. This also may not be the best way to go about this, so I'm open to suggestions about _how I should do it!
If more info about how I've set up opacity etc is needed, let me know.

Editing on a Mac Mini with 8mb ram (FCPX runs faster than on my MBPro!); FCPX1.1I'll just add that I reimported my footage, using the Optimise media settings, and exported a short clip using Export media (ProRes 244) & Compressor (ProRess244 + DeInterleave filter). Neither showed the "venetian blinds" effect, but the first export had loads of fringing, and the second had a lot less, but there was still some visible.
Anyone? Is this a bug or some kind of operator error?

I bought an HDTV cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my Sony TV via HDML. The TV recognizes my computer; I see my basic computer screen on the TV. I tried to watch videos on my TV but got nothing. (tried via my facebook vidoes and Youtube. What am I doing wrong?
I've got a similar (but different!) problem: I have a MacBookPro3,1 running Mac OS X 10.6.8. I want to connect to my HD TV using a HDMI to DVI cable but the MBP cannot detect the TV display. What's the solution? Is this a bug in Mac OS X 10.6.8 ? Any ideas what I can do to make things work with the HDMI to DVI cable. (N.B.: I have separate audio cable running from the MBP to amplified speakers for the sound side of things. It’s the video that’s the problem!)

I have set up a second iTunes user account on my PC, but when I create the new iTunes account it copies the music, videos etc from the original account and they seem to be linked, so that when I delete a song from one library it deletes from the other one.
On the online tutorials I've seen it shows that when you create a new iTunes library it should open as a blank account, but that isn't happening.
What am I doing wrong?If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

• I use to do - Not Self-Contained as it saves both time and space
Your Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - Needs lot's of free space to work OK - I never go under 25Gb free space on this one,

Click on the blue Internet Recovery in nbar's post. That is a link to what computers can run Internet Recovery.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

I am using Firefox 3.6.13 and have installed Windows Media Player 1.0.0.8 for Firefox. However, if I attempt to open a file with a .wmv extension it appears to function properly, except, that I cannot "play" the file. What am I doing wrong?You probably have not seen anyone reporting the exact same problem as you. All three crash reports have the same crash signature and as currently ranked 67 it is not the commonest of reasons for a crash.
I hope you enter your email contact information when reporting crashes. I note you see this crash when using videos, others may possibly see this crash in other circumstances.
You have already tried the obvious, attempts at a fix so it is now down to wait and see, maybe developers working on the bug will report something or fix it.
Did you try my suggestion of installing portable ESR ?

I have an I Pod Nano and would get messages to update my software. In my I Tunes I have 1,900 songs but after the updates it will only sync 933 songs. My current software version is 1.0.2. What am I doing wrong or is it something in the software. I have not done anything different in my I Tunes and all songs are checked. Could someone please help or advise me what to do?

I bought me a new computer but when my data was transferred from old computer to new computer a lot of my songs on my hard drive were lost, but they were able to save all my songs on I tunes. My I Pod is still connected Clicked on "On this Ipod" Music 938 Songs 2.2 days So my question to you is if I have 1,909 songs on my ITunes how come only 938 transferred to my IPod. I checked my IPod and it shows only 938 songs transferred. This did not happen before until I Tunes asked me if I wanted to update to a newer version. Last month I did have all my 1,909 songs on my I Pod. I hope this explains what I am asking

I really need some help please!
Here is a step by step of what I've done:
Created a folder on my desktop. Copied .mov to this folder.
Created a new flash file (Actionscript 3.0, CS3). Saved into same
folder on desktop. Used Import Video to import .mov file
(Progressive download, etc). Video imported fine. I tested the
movie and all looks good. So then I published. I checked out the
publish previews and all look good!
So next I took my folder from my dekstop and all it's
contents (.mov, .fla, .flv, .swf, skin.swf, .html, and .js) and
uploaded to my ftp. When I go to the site nothing shows up and it
says there was one error opening the page. So then I looked at the
activity and it says the .flv is not found. But I checked AGAIN and
the .flv is in the same folder as the rest of my files.
Am I missing a step? I am very new to flash and I can't
figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help? Should I be
posting this in another forum?

I watched the tutorial on youtube on creating the svg and making an interactive color changing character. I have tried to implement it but I’m not doing something right and am a little lost on the code. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong.

I added a selectedPartTxt text box and named it that too.
None of the groups on the SVG are recognized and the selectedPartTxt does not change. I suspect it may have something to do with the fact there are groups instead of one part but I don’t know how to fix it.
I was also wondering if someone could tell me how to use an SVG for the color chart too instead of recreating it in Edge Animate. I haven't tried to to the color part of the SVG because I still can't get the mouse click to work when on a group that changes.
Any help would be appreciated.

CherieHi, I had a similar problem and this fixed it.
You know how in the illustrator file, you need to reference a file called svg.js from the edge commons library? Download that file, or write the code in a text editor and save it in a .js file and then make sure that the file is in the same folder as your images called by the adobe edge file.

I'm burning dvd's that won't play on a regular dvd player. What am I doing wrong? They play fine on computers but not on dvd players. Are there some simple things to check to figure this out? (Sorry, I know this has been asked many times). Created in DVD studio pro.

Just my thoughts to add to the excellent answers above.
• BRAND of DVD used - Matters when doing Video-DVDs
Memorex, NoName etc cheap brands usually do NOT work
I only Use Verbatim (more organic dye in these)
• Type of DVD - matters
- DVD+/RW - usually results in problems
- DL-DVDs are more problematic than SL-DVDs
- DVD+R are a more modern sort - BUT PLAYS BADLY or not at all on older DVD-players
I only use DVD-R
• BURN SPEED - matters
- Best in iDVD app - IS NOT BEST at all but results in lot's of Burn Errors = Doesn't play well or at all
I set this down to x2 or x4 max.
