Video on nano

it's me again
it's good to see that someone
answers my questions, and i got a new one
a friend of mine told me that
i could put video on my iPod nano but
that i had to install
some software first
is all this true??????
please don't forget that i got windows!!

ok.
the only thing i can say is:
THANKS FOR THE ADVISE
i already installed linux, but
i uninstalled it and restored it with the
appple ipod updater because of your
advise, now my nano has the apple
exclusive software for ipod again,
and i think things are sort of normal again
(i hope).
i think the most "healthy" thing for me,
my computer, my ipod and all people is not to
install any software that isn´t approved by apple (itunes, etc,)
do you think that too ??
well, to sum up
i have to tell you that i used yamipod (and idump, but
i found it by myself
http://www.softpedia.com/get/IPOD-TOOLS/Multimedia-IPOD-tools/iDump.shtml)
because someone in apple forums recommended
me that program, so, please tell me if
yamipod is sort of risky too, and if is there
any nice and safe software to be used on ipod nano
on Windows (XP).
Ps.i have to thank all that that people who
try to protect "dummies" like me from
doing risky things on their products
(Rich Fleming and Chris CA, thanks!)

The iPod nano cannot use YouTube. It cannot connect to the Internet at all.

  • Video iPod Nano doesn't work when plugged in anymore

As of recently, whenever I plug my Video iPod Nano into my Hi-Fi the screen locks up. The music still plays through the Hi-Fi, and I can control the volume via the unit however the screen completely is frozen, and unresponsive to any movement on the clicker. It worked fine before, and this now a recent happening, and I have a feeling the latest update to the iPod Nano knocked it out.

I'm not not sure why this question is flagged as "answered".
I'm experiencing exactly the same behavior. If my nano (3G) is put into my HiFi while in play mode, it will continue playing through the HiFi, but the nano screen will freeze and its controls will become unresponsive. Only the HiFi volume can be controlled via the HiFi top buttons. Ditto for the remote - only the volume controls function (although the HiFi green LED responds to all remote commands as normal).
If the nano is inserted into the HiFi in menu mode, it just remains unresponsive. When taken out of the HiFi dock, it will invariably remain unresponsive for 30-40 seconds, then suddenly light up and return to normal.
In fact, my nano (3G) has always acted this annoying way with our HiFi - which continues to work flawlessly (extra menues and all) with the sundry older iPod models that we own.
Yes, I have tried resetting and restoring the nano (now at firmware version 1.1) and the HiFi no avail.
I'm curious to learn whether anyone has actually gotten a nano (3G) to work properly with a HiFi.
P.S. Great product the HiFi - can't for the good of me figure out why Apple discontinued it... It's truly adding insult to injury if this thing of beauty no longer works properly with the newer iPods.

  • Can I upload videos in Nano?

Can I upload videos in Nano?
Can i watch videos on Nano?
I heard the normal ipod can be used to watch videos.
I have movies on my computer and I was wondering if I can uploaded and watch it on Nano.
    Also, is it worth buying?
I am planning on buying a Nano, I once had shuffle but I had to return it because it wouldn't work.

Well if you are going to be running, biking or some other activity l;ike it that may involve alot of you bouncing up and down you will need to get either a shuffle or a nano because the other ipods have hard disks or something like that in them that can be easily damaged by doing that sort of activity. The shuffle and the nano are bopth flash based so they will be fine. And no you can not put videos on it so you are unfortanately going to have to choose. But maybe later apple will make a video flash ipod mabye 6th gen so we'll see.

  • 2 Ipods (video and nano) on one computer.  HOW?

I have a video ipod and a nano. I am trying to get them to share the same library, but am not having any luck. Can anyone let me know how to do this. The video ipod was originally set up on a different library (windows). I de-authorized it, but it won't sync. Will I lose all existing purchased music/videos in the process?

Each of you should create a separate playlist, with only the music you want.
Then open iTunes prefs -> iPod and set it to Automatically update only selected playlists.

  • Using iPOD video and Nano on one PC

Need help. I just got a 60 gb iPOD video and have been using iTunes on my PC for my Nano. If I download videos from the iTunes Music Store for my iPOD Video, will it cause a problem when I later plug in my Nano to update? I.E., is there a way for me to use my same iTunes library for both the iPOD Video and iPOD Nano without the Nano crashing because of the video content? Sorry, I'm new to this. I appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

If you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect the new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions. It will update from your existing library and in the case of the Nano you will not have a problem with videos as it is not designed to use them. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update the whole library, selected playlists or you can manage it manually. With the first option it will update everything. With the second option only the tracks in the selected playlists (rather than the entire music library) are downloaded to iPod when you connect. With the manual update option, you manage what goes into your iPod by dragging and dropping selected songs or playlists into iPod:
    Loading songs onto iPod automatically
    Managing content manually on iPod

  • Putting videos on nano

I bought a video off of iTunes and tried to put it on my Nano but it tells me my Nano can't play it. Why?

Which Nano do you actually have? Do you have the long skinny one (second gen) or the square one (3rd gen)? Only the 3rd gen Nano will play videos.

  • How can I add videos to Nano?

I was just wondering. Can I add a simple MP4 video to the iTunes library and sync it to iPod Nano? If not, what is the best video converter I can use and how to add it in iTunes library? Thanks in advance.

If the iPod nano is a third through fifth generation model, yes. Otherwise, no. Adding it to the iTunes library is a separate process which doesn't involve the iPod; if a converter is needed, use MPEG Streamclip.

  • Problem with Video in NANO 3G

Hello, first of all, sorry for my english.
I have a problem with my ipod nano video. I transfer any video to ipod without problem, I convert videos with Videora for example, and all seems right, but when I go to watch this video, the video appears with horizontal lines.
    Thanks

Maybe you should try to update the driver of your graphics card.

  • Can't get purchasedE video onto Nano even after selecting Advanced convert

I have a new Nano and have purchased 5 short videos from iTunes store. Firstly, when synching the error was "cannot be copied onto this iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod". I read in the forum that I should try selecting Advanced and then convert to ipod. When I do this, I get "Error occurred when converting. Unknown error (-3000)". Any ideas where I'm going wrong? The 5 videos were all purchased by me from iTunes store. Is it anything to do with the age of my mac? Thanks for any help.

Your first error happened to me this morning when I was using the iTunes on my computer for my boss's ipod nano. I has to go under Store/Authorize Account and then just followed the prompts. Now my problem is that I cannot see the movies that I purchased from the iTunes store on my ipod. I can see them in iTunes when my ipod is plugged in, but they are greyed out.

  • Video or Nano?

Hi, im thinking of buying an ipod video, but I have heard that because of its hard drive it is not suitable for use in a gym. If this is the case then I will have to buy a nano. Any info on this matter would be helpful.
    Matt

I have a 30GB and an 80GB video iPod. The 30GB my wife uses now and I use the slightly larger 80GB model. I use it at the gym all the time including running on the treadmill and it doesn't really bother me. I put it in the pocket of my shorts when I run or sometimes hold it in my hand.
However, while doable, the Nano really is much better suited for gym use especially for stuff like running on a treadmill. For other activities like weightlifting, stationary bike, stairmaster or other activitied where you don't really have to bounce, the full size video iPod works fine.
So they (video iPods) can be used at the gym, nanos are better suited for it, so you now have to decide if you want the MUCH larger capacity full size iPod and put up with the physical size and weight or go for a light & small nano which also only holds a fraction of the songs.
By the way, my iPod has never skipped or errored on me while using it at the gym. I typically do 45-60 minutes of hard walking with bursts of 5-10 minutes of running, so it gets a good amount of bouncing about.

  • Video on Nano (It is possible!).

Yes, the Ipod Nano can play video. In fact, almost every ipod is capable, by using IpodLinux (http://ipodlinux.org/). Videos need to be formatted and decompressed, but, the videos do work. In fact, I myself use IpodLinux, and am very pleased with its results. The video capability is in its early stages, so there are some bugs (like, video and sound sync going off when the video is paused or skipped), but overall, works just fine. It is open source, so I just wanted to spread the word, so people can take advantage of their ipod nano.
IpodLinux is'nt new, so who else is using IpodLinux?

Here are some pics/videos of some Ipods on podzilla (ipodlinux)playing videos. These are not mine. Sorry for the quality of most of them. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6974467646937874348
