  • Itunes Wont Load videos onto Ipod

hi, i currently have a 60GB ipod video, and now itunes is refusing to load any videos onto my ipod, i tried so many different programs to convert video, eg videora, PQ DVD, and Replay converter etc.
and i get the same error, it says video was not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod.
is there a way to load videos without using Itunes? or can i force itunes to load the videos?
    any help would be appreciated...
    thanx ^_^

"All my songs are listed on the IPOD but are faded where they are in regular font in my library"
Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists".
Try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. This will give you a fresh installation and allow you to start over: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

  • Cant drag video onto ipod downloaded from itunes

    Hi
Ive been downloading videos from itunes, for example "Joe Cartoon" podcast. I got the first few episodes onto my ipod fine, since then though i cant get videos onto the ipod. They download fine from itunes but when i try to drag them onto the ipod i get the black circle with the line through it. ive checked the info and they are mpeg4. Does anyone else have this problem or have any solutions?!
    thanks in advance

    Hello mizgeministarz,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I only have a few suggestions for you, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to at least try. Have you tried accessing these TV shows outside the playlist they reside in? Just access them from the main list of TV Shows if at all possible or if that isn't what you are doing currently.
It might not hurt to also try to restore the iPod and start from scratch allowing fresh copies of the TV Shows to sync over to your iPod. There may have been a syncing issue that corrupted your TV Shows. If that isn't the case, your iPod is having trouble with the video playback.
    Hope this helps.

  • Videos onto ipod?

i have converted my video to ipod format but i do not know how to get it on..i saw somebody say to put it into itunes but i do not know how to do that ive tried dragging and dropping and importing but nothing works..help please??

Just add the video to your library as though it were an MP3.
As for adding the video to your iPod:
Try setting your iPod to manual mode. I'll link you to an article below on how to set your iPod in that mode. Scroll down to the 'Manual Mode' sub-topic.
    Article
Afterwards, try dragging and dropping to your iPod icon on the left.
Post back letting us know what is going on.
    Good luck!

  • How to get Videos onto Ipod

I have the video Ipod, and ive had movies on there before, but since i got 7.0.2 i havent been able to upload any movies
    can someone please help me

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (which iTunes uses) don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
Please watch out for the poster known as 'siask' who will probably reply to this post also. It's nothing but spam.

  • Putting Digital Camera Videos onto Ipod?

Is this possible? And if so how do I do it? I was told I'd need to convert them, but I haven't the slightest clue how.
I'm using a Mac with a 160 Gig iPod classic

If it's a digital camcorder you are talking about, it will be a little more difficult to do what you want to do. But if you're just talking about a digital camera which has a video recording function in it, it should be a lot easier.
First you have to check the file format (file name extension), i.e. is it .avi , .mpg , or anything else. Assuming you may not be able to see it right on the file name iteself (because sometimes the extensions are hidden from view). If you can't see the extension, just ctrl-click the file which you imported from your camera to your mac, click "Get Info", you can either read the extension under "Name & Extension", or just read the file format (kind) under "General" where it says what "kind" of a file it is.
As far as I know, most DC's record .avi videos. You could either use Quick Time Pro (which costs a little of your money, or if you have Pro applications like Logic or Final Cut Studio, it is free). Even if the file is not AVI, you can still use Quick Time Pro for the conversion, as long as it's not .wmv (which you will need to buy a plug-in), or anything extremely peculiar. Open the video file with QT Pro, and go to File>Export, then choose Movie to iPod. And there's your converted video file which you can import into iTunes. (I'm not sure if a regular Quick Time Player, which is free and should already be on your mac, has the Export function as well, because I have the Pro for a long time and forget what the regular version is like).
The good thing about QT Pro is that you can do some simple editing to your video, i.e. cut, copy and paste a specified portion of the video. And these functions are pretty useful on the most basic level.
If you don't want to spend money on Quick Time Pro, or if the file format is something that QT Pro can't convert or even open, here's what you can do. Let say the file extension is .xyz, you can use Google, or whatever search engine you use, and search for "convert .xyz to iPod" or something like that. There are bound to be a few free software, or free trials, that you can download. Try those.
There. That's about everything you need to know for converting videos into iPod formats.

  • Advice needed on importing photos and videos onto iPod.

    Hi,
I am off travelling round the world for 6 months next year. I love taking a riducolous amount of pics and I was wondering what the best device to get them onto my ipod is. Also i want to be able to import videos as well. I have a sony T9 and the upgraded 5th gen iPod.
    Thanks
    Archie

Hi, I did some research and figured it out, and thought I'd post my results here in case it can help someone else someday.
There are two ways to get photos out of Picasa: Exporting and Backing Up.
If you export photos, they all show up flattened-out in one folder. While this would technically work, the downside is iPhoto will suddenly have thousands of photos added to it and I'm not really sure how it will figure out the events (I didn't try importing into iPhoto yet).
If you use Picasa's Backup feature (Tools->Back up pictures) then all the photos show up with their folder hierarchies preserved. So for example you could end up with a folder containing the following folders and photos.
    Vacation Photos
    Vacation Photos/Hawaii 2009/
    Vacation Photos/Hawaii 2009/pic1.jpg
    Vacation Photos/Hawaii 2009/pic2.jpg
    Vacation Photos/New York 2008/
    Vacation Photos/New York 2008/pic1.jpg
    Vacation Photos/New York 2008/pic2.jpg
    etc.
From what I've read, if the "Vacation Photos" folder is imported into iPhoto, the folder names will be used as events, so in this example you'll end up with a "Hawaii 2009" event and a "New York 2008" event, which is nice.
As far as Picasa's Backup tool goes, it will create one or more top-level folders with names starting with a dollar sign. These represent the top-level folders containing photos. On the computer I tested this on I ended up with $Desktop, $My Documents, and $My Pictures, because all the photos on this computer were inside of the Desktop, My Documents, and My Pictures folders (and their children).
So in a nutshell, if you want to migrate from Picasa on Windows to iPhoto, just use Picasa's "Back Up Pictures" menu item if you want to preserve the folder hierarchy of your photos. Oh, one last thing: this feature doesn't let you back up to the same hard drive as the photos, so just share a folder on either your Mac or your PC and then back up to that folder.
Hope somebody finds this information useful.

  • VIDEO ONTO IPOD HELP

Ok so i got the part up to movie onto the ipod problem now is that no music plays but the video plays wats wrong with that ? replay asap plz thx for the help

    Hi Josef,
When you say "other formats", that leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
Without knowing exactly what you want to convert, you need your video in a format that QuickTime (7.0.4)recognizes. You can then export to iPod. On the Mac, File > Export > Movie to iPod (320x240). You can also do this from within FinalCutPro. Remember it's illegal to do this with copyrighted material!
    Good luck,
    Maz

  • Videos onto ipod help!!!!!!!!

i have music videos on my computer already and when i put them in itunes and try and put them onto my ipod it says my ipod doesnt play this type of video....i tried converting it for ipod on my itunes and it converts it and it will let the video go onto my ipod but there is no sound....i also tried converting the video on quicktime but it still doesnt have audio...does anyone know how to convert videos already on my computer so i can put them on my ipod???

does anyone know how to convert videos
already on my computer so i can put them on my ipod???
    The easiest way:
    1) Make sure you have iTunes 6.0.2
    2) Import the video into iTunes.
    3) rightclick on the video and select 'convert selection for ipod'.
    That's it!!
The harder way (but better quality)
Plenty of free video conversion software out there. Use Videora iPod Converter. If you don't like that, I'm sure someone else will be able to advise you on something else (also free).

  • Getting my own videos onto iPod...?

  • Family videos onto ipod?

how do i get a family video (taken with a canon digital camera) onto the ipod? i can't move it over to the video folder...anyone have an idea? thanks.

Brad, I realize you are trying to help... but you're carelessly steering this user down the wrong road.
For starters, the OP is a Mac user, so Videora iPod Converter won't work for them.
Additionally... telling the OP to simply "change them to mp4 and then drag them to itunes" is rather vague. There is a very specific format that video files need to be in.
Having a video file with an .mp4 extension doesn't automatically make it function on a 5th Gen iPod.
The video file needs to meet the following specs:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
A tool such as MPEG Streamclip would be more useful to a Mac user.

  • Cant get video onto ipod

Every time I download a music video from itunes, I'll try to load it onto my ipod, but a message pops up saying that the video was not transferred because my ipod won't play the video. I do have a video ipod (30 GB). How can I fix this problem?

    Hi cdarb
got a 60Gb video ipod and can just drop from iTune into iPod
    - in iTune program - my iPod appears in iTune library table so I drop
the movies into a title "video" that appears here
    - or when made a movie in iMovie 6 - just Share to iPod.
    Works like a charm.
I always update when my PB G4 says so. AND I run the update under the
Apple on my lap-top now and then to keep it up to date.

  • Problems Getting video onto iPod

    Hey everybody-
I have a feeling that my problem is a composite of many peoples' problems. Here's how everything breaks down: I have a Powerbook G4 running the latest version of OSX and a new iPod 60 Gig 5G (christmas present!)
-I read on the apple website that it is perfectly legal to rip your own DVD's for personal use.
-Therefore, I downloaded Handbrake and used it to rip the movie Freaky Friday which I own, to my desktop.
-The file showed up as an .mp4 on my desktop.
-I tried everything: importing it from iTunes, dragging and dropping it into iTunes library, dragging and dropping it directly onto the iPod icon in the iTunes source list.
-It showed up in the Video section of the iTunes source list, but when I tried to drag and drop it from there onto the iPod i got the same error message that everyone was getting, that it 'wasn't in the right format' with the link and everything.
-I followed the link, which basically instructed me to buy QuickTime Pro, which I did.
-In QuickTime Pro, I followed the instructions for 'movie to iPod' but the progress bar freezes up at 10%, every time.
-I tried changing the original .mp4 file to a .mov file, and it still froze during exporting.
How do I make it export into iTunes, then make it copy to my iPod without error? Pleeeeease help! I am willing to download anything and follow complicated instructions!
    Thank you SO MUCH!
    --elise
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   12"

Your Handbrake "rip" may not meet the requirements for iPod use. Anything from the wrong dimensions to too high of a data rate could cause it to "fail".
QuickTime Pro isn't "freezing" at 10% completion. You are too impatient for the conversion. It could take a day (slower machines even longer) to convert a DVD rip to iPod friendly specs.
Plenty of lawyers in D.C. (I lived there for 50 years) would conclude that you don't own the right to "convert" the DVD to iPod format because the conversion creates a new product not intended by the copyright holders.
I doubt the police on the Metro would enforce (copyright Police force?) would take notice once you do get the film onto your iPod.
Test the "Export to iPod" setting using a 5 minute "cut". Open the Handbrake rip and copy 5 minutes of the file using QT Pro. Paste this cut into a new player window and save.
Time the export (you may be disappointed) and then you'll know how long the entire file will take to export to iPod settings using H.264 video codec.

ok here goes from a person who can't find her way round tesco's let along a computer...
just bought a iPod nano, i've sucessfull downloaded some videos into my itunes library, now i want to download them to my iPod,i've followed the instructions to go into advanced, and click on 'convert selection for iPod', but mine brings up 'convert selection for AAC' i've trying to change it to AIFF as suggested but each time i change it a message stating 'could not convert because protected files cannot be converted to other formats'..... so the question is how can i either un protect them or how can i download this video, which i bought from correct site ???!!!

    Welcome to Apple discussions, elivira!
You have an iPod nano. Nano's are not capable of putting videos on them. Only the Fifth Generation is.
