Video orientation

I have a iphone 6 plus.I used to have a iphone 4.I have been using apple products for a long time but I still dont understand how to transfer a video in a orientated way to my lap top.Sometimes I turn to horizontal sometimes perpendicular. But when I transfer the video to lap top generally I cant transfer in a correct way. What is the easiest way of that?.How can I make it appear on the lap top screen normal.Which direction should I use when recording video.

In horizontal mode take the video/photo with the Home button on the right. In vertical take the video/photo with the Home button at the bottom.

  • How can I edit pictures (red eye) and camera-made videos (orientation)?

How can I edit pictures (red eye) and camera-made videos (orientation)? The pictures are now in my documents, taken from another laptop. Apple has automatically orientated photos, but not the videos. I've looked at past messages on red eye, but cannot even highlight an area, as suggested in the answers. Need I put the pictures etc in another folder in order to edit?

Use iphoto for the photos and iMovie for the video.

  • Video Orientation Question

I recorded a video using my iphone in one orientation (portrait style) but when I play it on my computer it plays sideways. Peoples heads point west and their feet point east. How can i get it to play normally on my computer? I now know that in the future I must always record lanscape style but I really want to use one of the videos I've already recorded. Is there any way to salvage it?

I venture to say your computer is a Windoze PC.
If so, which video viewing app are you using?
The video orientation is included with the video's EXIF data, which the Windows video viewer ignores - at least with photos so I assume the same with video.

  • Video orientation exclusion

Hallo. I use my iPhone 5s in portrtait lock. When it is time to watch a video in Facebook or safari I have to switch the orientation lock off. Is there a way to exclude QuickTime from the portrait lock and set it permanently to landscape?
    Thank you.

  • Bad video orientation

    Hi
Got my iPhone 3gs a week ago.
Today something went wrong with playing videos. The thing won't correct the video orientation when held vertically. Horizontally is fine. I can turn it upside down and it will correct the view. But vertically, no. It just stays horizontal.
    What should I do?
    Thanks.

Umm I'm afraid I can't answer that. For some reason you can't access the iTunes store from Israel.

  • 5230 video orientation stuck (sideways)

I just got this 5230 and I cannot get the video to re-orient straight up and down and not horizontally. Other times other apps get stuck in one position or the other. In other words, I am having some orientation issues! Anyone know how to make it more sensitive to my hand position (vertical or horizontal). Also I have a real problem seeing it outdoors... any solutions?

  • Question on Video orientation in Quicktime

My wife's camera, a Kodak EasyShare C875, saves its movies as quicktime movies.
90% of the time, this is fine.
However, she has one where she put the camera on its side to take the video with a 'long' view top to bottom.
All we want to do is change the orientation. Does QT pro do this? Can I download it? It just seems to want to 'ship' to me.
Are there any other editors out there that can do this?
    I'm pretty frustrated.
    Jim

Yes, that video size will work on iPods (that support video, of course), I have several 320x240 video Podcasts on my iPod Classic and iPod Touch. More important is the rest of the specification for video.
I'm not an expert on this, but typically the common problem seen on these forums is that a video Podcast will not transfer to an iPod because it's not in the correct format. There is a conversion facility (in iTunes) for videos, but my advice is don't rely on that, because users do not always succeed with the conversion, for various reasons.
The size is okay, in fact you will see that 640 by 480 is mentioned. But it's all the additional encoding, frame rate, audio etc. I've clipped the following from the iPod Classic specifications:
    H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
As I said, I don't fully understand these specifications, partly because I don't produce video Podcasts, but hopefully the specs above are familiar to you in the programme you use and that I have partly answered your question. Perhaps someone else may chip in with comments.
    Good luck.

  • Iphone 5 FaceBook Video Orientation

I receneotly came to find out when im watching videos facebook and I rotate phone so that the video  may enlarge is not working. the phone is not on orientation lock either everything else works fine.

Im having this same exact issue! How can this be fixed?

  • Incorrect Video Orientation

I recorded a video at a friends wedding of their first dance on my iPhone 4. I was holding the phone in landscape orientation thinking this would give a better layout. All was fine while recording the 4 min video. BUT when i now play it back its is always in the wrong orientation (video is on its side) no matter what way i turn the phone.
But if i copy it to my PC then play it the PC plays it in its correct format. I though if i upload it to YouTube it would be ok but i was wrong its still playing it on its side.
Is there any way to fix this and know what the phone wont play video in the orientation it was record?

I have run into this same issue with my iPhone. Is there any easy way to fix the orientation of recorded video for playback on the Mac or for upload?
iPhone was oriented in landscape when I took the video, but the iPhone as well as the Mac orient the video in portrait. VLC will play it back correctly, but everything else (including uploads) plays it back in portrait.

  • Frustrated with video orientation issues - conversion please?

Both wife and I take iPhone video - on a 4 and 4S.  Seems now I'm spending all sports of time trying to change orientation for use/sharing/uploading because of the newer orientation "tagging" iOS is doing.
I'm not here to debate the right/wrong of that decision, I just need to know the "simple" solution to change/convert the orientation so that regardless of wheather the video is viewed in Quicktime, Windows Media Player, VLC, or any other video client, they ALL SEE THE SAME CORRECT THING.
At this point I've tried converting using Quicktime Pro, VLC, and MPEG Streamer, but when I do, I may see it correctly in 1 client but not in the others I test with (mentioned above).
How to please? And THANK YOU!

Still hoping for a solution from somebody!

  • Problems with 4s images and videos orientation

I'm a new Iphone 4s user, and an avid photographer.  I don't own an Apple computer, and I've run into an issue with photo orientation. Using the volume button as shutter button (volume buttons pointing upwards in landscape mode), in pc programs the images and videos come out upside down. Evidently the orientation tag recorded by the phone is not universal, so most video programs don't get the orientation right. Are there any plans to correct this?
Thanks for any help with this.

This always happened in Lr 1.0.
Lr 1.1 has the option of choosing the copyright status just like PS. It is near the bottom when All Metadata is shown.

  • Video orientation - why can't I watch a movie in 'portrait'

it just boggles my mind why I can't seem to figure out a way for this insanely COOL and expensive device called the iTouch can do everything but let me watch a video in portrait mode.
Since every docking station known to man only seems to allow you to view the i-device in portrait mode, this sure seems like one **** of a thorn in my side.
Is there a way to do this? I've checked through all the settings, but everything I upload including podcasts, only play in landscape.
WHY? it can veiw everything else in both modes.

No. Movies/tv shows/Youtube (edited) are displayed only in landscape.

  • IPhone 5s videos change orientation when saved to PC.

    Hello:
I have shot videos with my 5s in both portrait and landscape and then saved to my PC.  ALL the videos have been re-oriented.  I can open them in Windows Live Movie Maker and rotate them but when I do they appear about 2/3's smaller than the original.  There is about an equal amount of black space on either size of the video, as the video itself.  My goal is to share my videos with my family via email or CD but don't want then to have to turn their heads sideways to see the video or to have the correct orientation but have it too small.  I looked at Quicktime 7 Pro but I couldn't tell from the product description if it would do this.
Thanks in advance for any help and Happy New Year to All!!

Windows or the Microsoft apps included for photo/video viewing don't recognize or ignore the photo and video orientation data included with the EXIF data with every photo and video captured by the iPhone. The orientation isn't being changed during or after the import, Windows or the Microsoft apps included just ignores or doesn't recognize it.
There are 3rd party apps available for Windows that don't do this. QuickTime is one of them.

  • Transfer video from iphone to computer?

How do I transfer my videos from my iPhone 4s to my computer.  I try just copy & pasting them from my phone to my computer using My Computer, but the videos play upsided down on my computer.  Any idea what I am doing wrong?

It is that state of the art Windows OS your computer is running which doesn't recognize or ignores the photo/video orientation that is included with the EXIF data for photos/videos captured by the iPhone.
Try using a 3rd party video viewer such as QuickTime or anything besides what is included with Windoze.
