Video out for N81?

Does the 3.5mm 'AV Connector' on the N81 really support video out? If so, how do you get this to work? I can't find anything in the documentation about this...

There is no video out (TV-out) support on the N81 (which also explains why there's nothing about it in the documentation, and why there's no TV-out cable in the N81 sales box).

  • Use standard DV Video out for monitring with HDV Project?

i got a ADS Pyro AV Link fo Christmas and has a composite/S Video out on the back....and connected the composite to a monitor.....and FCE has a video out option in the View menu....and whenever i select it (with an HDV proj.) it goes from the Pyro's standard color bars to a black screen.... wheever i play my project back in the canvas it still is black? whats wrong? or is it incompatibility?

That's not going to do what you want. FireWire is only for DV material not for HDV that's been converted to the Apple Intermediate Codec. You can output to HDV via FireWire, but only using the print to video function.

  • Video out for iPhone.

Interesting that the iPod Touch has video out capabilities. Why doesn't the iPhone have that also?

I believe that is probably what you were talking about, and more than likely Jobs is keeping this "under wraps" until he can make a big announcement to everyone that iPhone now has video out, since I'm sure everyone with an iPhone has wanted this feature. But, as you can see, it IS under the iPhone docks and cables, so hopefully it will be compatible. . . finally
    EDIT: here's the actual product http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=184 EAE7D&nplm=MB128LL/A

  • Video out for iPod Touch

I've got a 8GB iPod Touch and want to see movies on my LCD TV, I know I need to get the NEW Apple Universal Dock, but how about cable? I have to use Apple Composite AV Cable or Apple Component AV Cable? It confuses me a lot before I made a wrong order...

    Hey Edmond,
I also recommend getting the Apple Component AV Cable.
This article will provide detailed information about the cable options.

  • Iphone for VGA Video Out not working

We have the Iphone/iPad VGA to Monitor connector. We tested it with 3 different iPhone 4 phones... It worked on 2 of them, but the 3rd woudn't work. What possible reason would it not work? The 3 phones had software of 4.3 and higher...

    Dr. L,
The previous iPod's did not support component video out for newer televisions that support it. The box for the older Video out cables do not say they support the iPhone.
The current video out cables are available in either component or composite video out. They also say they support the iPhone on the box.
In addition when shopping the Apple Store online for iPod or iPhone accessories there is a compatibility guide which shows icons of the iPod models or iPhone that are supported.
Overall my personal experience is that this, and other Apple specific ones, are much smaller compatibility, and downtime driver for IT than many of them I have run across supporting a variety of computer and networking platforms over the last 23 years.
    Hope this helps,

  • What is the difference between Video-out and mirroring?

What is the difference between Video-out and mirroring? I can't get iPhone 4 video to work on my TV screen
I have just bought an MD098ZM/A (Apple 30-pin Digital AV Adapter). I am struggling to get it to show a picture on my TV. I know I'm doing something right because the audio is coming out of my TV speakers but no picture on the TV screen.
I have used the same HDMI channel (on the TV side) with the same cable and my thunderbolt port (MacBook Air) without any trouble - and on the same app (BBC iPlayer download then full-screen mode).
Now I note that the packaging for the MD098ZM/A says video-out on iPhone 4 but mirroring only on iPhone 4S. I only have an iPhone 4 (not the 4S). Now if the lack of iPhone 4 support for mirroring means that I can't play video material out to my TV, then in what sense is there any video-out capability at all?
There is only safety and warranty paperwork in the Apple adapter packaging - no help information. And I haven't found further guidance online either.
I do note somewhere online that it suggests that basic non-mirroring video-out (for this adapter) only works with some external TV sets. Any way of finding out which? I'm using a Sanyo CE32LD90-B LCD TV if it helps.
So far not doing very well.

Now found these but have had to give up on this adapter!

  • Video Out on iPhone 4

I have Apples audio and video out cable adapter.  One end plugs into the dock connector, the other end has left and right audio out, and composite video out.
When I use this cable adapter with my iPod, all videos play perfectly on any television set.  However, when I use the same cable on my iPhone 4 I get audio but no video.
I suspect that Apple has crippled the video out for some reason.  Please tell me I'm wrong.

I am simply trying to watch NASA TV using my iPhone.  I used to get NASA TV from DirecTV, but you must now have HD DirecTV to get NASA TV. ( we still get 100 channels of infomercials however.)

I have a bad habit of asking questions that no one knows the answer to.

  • Video Out  and iPod

If you have one of those 30pin to RCA stereo & composite video cables. Will the iPod app output a video image of the current song album art, or will the app only do video out for actually watching videos?
I've got an interface I was going to install that makes me be able to control my iPod playback on my iPhone using my car's native stereo controls (it is done using the CD Changer port on the cars stereo). But my car also has RCA input jacks for composite video and audio. I love the MotionX GPS app and think it would be cool to see the GPS screen on my iPhone on my car's screen. So I was thinking of just using the RCA jacks combined with an RF or bluetooth remote control. But if I can't see any song information via the composite video out, then forget it.

i believe the video out would only work when playing videos and nothing else. this is because it would be impossible to control the iPhone from your car stereo unless they created a complete interface to work with the iPhone, and the only way to do that would be to get code from apple and i doubt that will ever happen...

  • Iphone Videos & Video Out not working

    Hi All,
I have several TV programmes on my iphone, and yet when i plug the iphone into my TV using the apple composite AV cable, and tell the iphone to display on screen nothing happens, no sound or picture at all.
I have just moved to Chicago from London so the video setting in the Iphone is PAL, could that be what is affecting it, should I change this setting ? The TV in the apartment is quite old fashioned and a brand name I don't recognise (Insignia CRT) so not sure whether it is the TV, but it has the right inputs.
    Any ideas much appreciated
    Thanks

  • Video out not working properly

i recently bought the Gigaware Composite A/V Cable for my 3rd Gen iPod touch at Radio Shack. It works beautifully with youtube and both iTunes videos as well as ones i uploaded myself. i get full video and sound with these. But when i try to play music there is no sound, when i try to view pictures they do not come up and when i try to use the netflix app there is no sound. I know my version of iPod is not yet compatible with video out for the netflix app, but others are saying they get sound, i get nothing. is there a setting that i need to correct or some other way to fix this? I also have a 1st generation iPod touch, and i have the same issue with this one as well. Please help.

The video only works with specific application. I would not expect music to one of those since there is no video in music. I know on the iPad photos do not display on video out (slide shows do). The same may apply for the iPod. I can't answer about the NetFlix no sound.
An Apple Support page says the following so there may be difference in different manufacture's cables.
Note: If you choose to use a third-party cable, make sure it has the "Works with iPhone" or "Made for iPod" label. Learn more about iPod and iPhone accessories.

  • Ipad Video Out

Hello, I have a question that I'm hoping someone could solve for me, so here goes:
I currently have an ipad 4.  I previously had an ipad 2.  When I still had the ipad 2, i had an apple cable that allowed me to do video/audio out (via 30 pin to composite cable) and I was able to stream Netflix and/watch movies that i downloaded through itunes.  Now, I realize that the lighting to 30 pin converter does not do video/audio out.  I was wondering if A) apple has a cable that does video out for composite connection for the new lighting interface (I'm aware of the apple digital audio/video cable but I've only seen ones for HDMI or VGA, not composite) or B) if buying the apple digital audio/video cable and then buying a converter box to make it into composite would work as well?  The bottom line, I'm trying to regain this functionality for my new ipad (to be able to stream Netflix and/or itune movies to a tv that only has a composite input (no HDMI)) and just want to know what my options are.
    Any advice/suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks.

Right and i believe the only Lighting to Video Cables are the ones that i mentioned- HDMI and VGA but I need composite.  So I'm looking for a solution to that.
The only solution I can think of is to buy the Lightning to HDMI and then connect that to a HDMI to Composite converter and then connect that to a TV.  But I don't want to buy the converter if it's not going to work with streaming both Netflix and any movies that are purchased from itunes and downloaded to my ipad.  This is where I'm looking for help from this community.  Thanks.

Just bought the Geforce4 TI card and for some reason the option to select TV out from NView Display Doesn't let me select TV out. The Raido buttons are light grey as if the card does not support TV out. In the Nview Modes Tab Standard (duelView) is the only radio button that can be selected. Clone, Horizontal Span, Vertical Span are all light grey and unclickable.  I've tried the drivers that came with the card and also updated them with no luck. Any idea on whats going on ?  ?(

    Hmmm,
Vasa, it's strange that you had to connect a resistor to the Video out for the detection process to work! But maybe you are on to something that's causing a lot of people to have similar problems  :D
If you measure the DC resistance of the Video input of a TV (or VCR etc.), you should see about 75 ohms. This is effectively what TV-out chips do - they make a fairly crude resistance measurement, and any resistance below a nominal threshold value (which will vary from chip to chip, but is probably somewhere between 100 and 200 ohms) will count as a "Pass" and ultimately allow the TV out to be enabled.
However, if for some reason the DC input resistance of the TV is significantly higher than 75 ohms, then the test will Fail, and TV out can't be enabled. Now, if TVs are being designed with high (DC) input resistance, they won't be detected by TV out chips, which is a pain in the fundamental output orifice    The same applies if you are going through a VCR or a surround sound amplifier with video switching, for example.
A notable exception is professional video equipment, which has "loop-through" inputs. This allows a single signal to be connected to several devices (e.g. a TV monitor, VCR, Vision Switcher, Waveform Monitor) without needing a Distribution Amplifier to split the signal up. Each device has a high input impedance, and usually a pair of connectors and a switchable 75ohm terminator. It is important with this arrangement that there is exactly one 75 ohm termination, which must be at the end of the line. Anyway, people who use this type of equipment generally know what they are doing
I hope this background info is of interest.
    Cheers

Congratulations on the new Mini. Are you saying you tried burning and it does not play, or do you want to burn it only for the computer to be able to play it?

  • Looking for an app that combines an equalizer with video out.

I'm looking for an app that has video out (like "Upsize" or the iPod built-in photo slideshow) with an equalizer (preferably like "Denon Audio" or "EQ Pro" so that I can listen to equalized music through my TV. Upsize is close, as it allows for album art to be displayed on my TV while the music plays however, it does not control volume and you must use the iTunes equalizer before you start the app. My TV is the type that will not play audio without an accompanying video signal when using a component cable to connect my iPod to the TV inputs.
