Video Out via RCA....?

I have a small portable DVD player that I'm thinking of trying to use a "mini monitor"...what would happen if I use this adapter
http://ak.buy.com/dbassets/prod_lrgimages/358/208017358.jpg
with my Apple DVI to VGA adapter and plugged it into my DVD video in-port...??
Would my iMac even detect the DVD player via RCA...?

Hi psa_mac
The Late 2006 2.16MHz Intel iMac uses a Mini DVI adapter and I'm not sure about that adapter, but the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter has both S-Video and Composite outputs.

It should work like a TV if the DVD player has a selectable input port?
Dennis
I actually have one of those Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter...won't fit my iMac but it does fit my iBook...so I tried it (via RCA) and the iBook did not detect the DVD player....so I'm not sure if Apple has a "mini" DVI to RCA for the iMac since the iMac and iBook ports are different.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

    Hi Retha!
Yes, you should be able to do this. Use the Export command in the File menu of iMovie, and you will see that Camera is one of the options.

  • Video out via firewire

Is color capable of outputing preview video through my DVCam deck via firewire? The option in the video out preferences seems to be grey out as are the other options in there.

I had forgotten I'd posted this and I need to make a clarification.
At the time of this posting, I'd been assured by Blackmagic Designs that Color would preview externally through their Intensity Pro card although in 8-bit video. Since the time of this posting and upon further query with BM tech support, I was told the Intensity Pro could not be used in this function.
Sorry if there has been any confusion caused by my statement.

In Premiere CS3, I could monitor through my VCR, which will be in CS4 does not have this function, as occurs with the matrox rtx2, with respect to RTX100. "The play only works for the VCR, when used export to tape ????????????

  • VHS tape video backup via RCA ports with 8600 Mac

    Hi all,
Sorry if this is a repeated question but a few years ago my VCR died. I'd like to back up my old VHS videos. My question is, will buying a VCR with S-video ports give me better image quality than RCA ports? Due to the speed on the 8600, will this give me good quality?
Are there other options that will not be costly?
    thanks for your help.
    web dude

So this device connects via USB onto my G4 and connect the VCR to it correct?
From my reading of it, yes. But your G4 will need USB2 (after-market PCI card), not the built-in USB 1.1 ports. There's probably similar devices that work with Firewire which your computer already has, and usually Firewire is the standard for this kind of thing, but you'd have to shop around.
Does your OS on the G4 support that device?
When I did this on my G3 using the "wings" card I was restricted to a very small frame size for capture. Read the detailed specs. on that device and what it will allow.
Do you have a large, fast drive on your G4? I don't know if that device does on the fly encoding, but if it doesn't and you have to store raw files they can take up a huge amount of room (several tens of GB I seem to recall when I did this on my G3 beige).
Back up a bit. How many tapes do you have to do? Are they truly worth it? If it's movies that you can get cheap DVD equivalents in the $8 bin at a discount store then it's questionable if it's worth your time. As observed, you're not going to get great quality off tape. If you only have a few family tapes consider getting them done at a place that does this commercially. A friend just had a family video done at a place nearby and it it didn't cost too much. I didn't ask how much but it was very affordable and not as much as it would have cost me to get a similar setup going on my G4. Yes, if you're doing 20 years of home videos then it might be cheaper.
Final storage media? If you're burning to DVD then make sure you get good quality (Taiyo Yuden if possible) and make duplicates.

  • Fcp 5.12 - no video out via fw ?

Here's a weird one - everything appears fine.
Had no problems on install -
Logged and Captured clips - dv pal via fw.
Video showing on external monitor when capturing - all good.
Drop clip into tl - nothing showing on external ?
Yes - External Video>All Frames is selected.
Yes - did Refresh AV devices.
    Yes - Rebooted.
Yes - checked in all the other nooks and crannies.
Can't make video appear on my Pvm - Yet when in L&C everything works.
Scratching the old scales here ...
Going to have a try in another app - Motion and AE to see if it's an fcp thing, or QT ...
edit: Okay - I'm getting nothing out in Motion or AE.
Maybe it's a porked qt 7.13 install - I'll try trashing QT receipt and dl a freshie.

Nope - she's plain busted as far as fw out for me.
    Dl'd and installed 7.1.3 again - nothing.
Installed it also onto a backup of OS 10.4.6 and fcp 5.04 - no fw out !
In fcp L&C yup - it works, device control and playback. The moment you close L&C - nothing. No communication.
I tried SimpleVideo OutX and BTv Pro - nope.
The dsr 11 is seen but nothing is going out the port.
I have also tried going out fw 400 using the cardbus 400 port - nothing.

  • Audio/Video input via RCA connection on HP pavillion desktop PC

I have an HP pavillion elite hpe-360z CTO desktop PC running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).  There are a number of interface connections in the front, including USB 2.0, I394, S-video, and RCA (A/V In).  I want to input video from a camcorder into this PC via the RCA connection, but I can't seem to get it to recognize that there is anything connected there.  Is there a driver I need to get to make this work?
    Thanks

    Hi,
As from your original message which says your machine has a wirefire port. Canon ZR70 use miniDV tapes therefore a firewire cable is a perfect match for this situation. The camera may use 4-pin connector and computer normally uses 6-pin connector. As mentioned above, one cable similar to one of the following cables will definitely help.
      https://www.google.com.au/search?q=4+to+6+pin+firewire+cable&hl=en&tbo=u&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENAU282&source=...
    Regards.
ps You may need driver for the Canon.

  • Video out via AV Dock

I have an older iPod universal dock that has a S-Video cable outlet, as well as the 'normal' 3.5mm line-out and connector. There is no IR window (sensor) on the front, therefore, I presume that a standard Apple Remote will not work.
My questions are: 1) Is there a User Guide (manual) for this device? The copyright on the bottom says Apple 2003. I hook up an S-Video cable to it and my HDMI TV, but I cannot get a movie to play from my iPhone 3GS. 2) Will this unit work with my iPhone 3GS?

  • Send Video Out via Firewire 800?

  • Any way to get audio out via RCA or 3.5mm jack?

I am interest in using AppleTV in a section of a fitness studio that I own.
The room has a pro audio A/V system with sound inputs via Bluetook, RCA or 3.5mm earphone jack.  The 2 TV monitors are daisy-chained and receive inputs via HDMI.
However, if I want to have the audio portion of an AppleTV program played through the sound system, I need to feed audio into it using one of the inputs noted above.  This isn't a problem with a Mac or iPad because I can use both HDMI and 3.5mm jacks to accomplish the goal.  I could just turn up the TVs, but that isn't a great sound option given the setting and the other equipment.
Is there any way to jury-rig an audio output that works?
Might I be better off using a sling box to an iPad or a Macbook?  I am already paying for cable TV as part of my Xfinity plan.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Something like this Digital Audio To Analog Audio Converter ... from Amazon will do the trick.
Search for audio digital to analog converter for other options.

  • Does 7.0.2 allow the video out via AV composite cable?

    Hello,
I use the 30 pin to AV Composite cable a lot for work.
I teach, so I play movies and TV shows via this cable.
The TV sets are very simple LCD 6 year old TVs, so I can not rely on AirPlay.
Can anyone tell me if 7.0.2 is ok with AV composite cable?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Firewire Video Out

This is so maddening. Its happened before. I sit down to FCE and its been open on the computer. I click on a sequence, and want to see it on external video monitor that was operating fine earlier in the day. It always works fine. Suddenly, no output. My firewire is connected to ADVC-110 converter > video monitor via RCA. I refresh video devices, no go. Change the view to Desktop Preview - that works fine.
I remember having this problem long ago and the solution was in the size of the viewer and/or the canvas windows. I thought the cure was "Fit to Window" but that's not working. I've quit the app.
Easy set up says Apple Firewire NTSC, audio follow video. About this Mac/Profiler sees the ADVC-110.
Someone give me this easy answer. arrgh!

    #8 External Monitor Viewing.
    Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
    1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
    2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
    3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
    4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
    5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
    6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section
