Video Output via VGA "not authorized"

I have the VGA output cable for my iPad, but on my newer videos, it gives me an error message that the display is not authorized to view the content. Do you perhaps know how to authorize a display?

Rental movies and maybe some other purchased videos will not display on video out because of licensing reasons. There is really nothing you can do.

  • Video output via cable - incompatible with video p...

I find that although video output via cable from the Nokia 6220 classic (and I presume other Nokia phones) works fine with TV sets, I haven't found a single video projector that accepts the output and is able to project it.  The projectors typically search their video inputs and should recognise the composite video input, but instead they just keep searching and are never able to recognise or project the video.
Is there something unusual about the video signal output from it so as not to be accepted as composite video by video projectors?

iphone4 and composite and component cable don't support mirror so they
only display images when an supported app is being used like youtube or the video app and the likes
use both the composite and the component cable with my iphone4 on 5.1 and both works fine
so do my ipod touch with 5.1 and ipad2 with 5.1

  • Nano video output via headphone socket?

Can the new Nano video output to the TV via the headphone socket, like my iPod Video 80g?
    Thanks.

Trip to Apple store and Genius Bar (Genius my a**e!), where I had a 2 hour wait, 20 minutes with the Genius (I use the term lightly) to be told what I already knew, plus he thinks the headphone output is connec ted to main logic board and that will cost almost £300 for parts. Dream-on!
On the way home I purchased a £8 Toslink cable (£32 in Apple store) plugged it in and hey presto - perfect sound.
So it looks like the headphone socket is stuck in digital mode.
Well at least it's getting better. Now off to research & establish how many other folks report same issue.

  • Video output via FW deck

Running on MBP in the field, can I monitor Color video out via FW connected to DVCPro deck then out to NTSC monitor? FCP outputs fine. In Color the video output selection is greyed out... jPo? Shane?
    Thanks

    Thanks.
That's too bad, it'd be nice to show some options on set with a basic FW interface... wouldn't wanna schlep all that gear around...

  • Cannot play iTunes video in QuickTime ("computer not authorized")

A few weeks ago I found a work-around to the vide/audio out-of-sync issue with iTunes 10, and that was to play videos through QuickTime, which I was able to do.  Until today.  Now QT won't play videos, saying the computer isn't authorized.  I go to iTunes, authorize the computer (over and over and over) and QT still won't play.  Then when I play the video through iTunes, I have to authorize it the video again and then it begins playing (but of course, video/audio will eventually become out of sync as always...).  Any ideas on why QT won't play the videos now or what is making it believe this computer is not authorized?  I've de-authorized/re-authorized, I've changed User Account Controls and deleted an "SC" file (the latter two were part of an Apple (un)solution found here ).  I'm still at a loss and frustrated beyond belief.
    I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit

I have the same scenario too, running Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion p7-1007c Desktop PC. However, as I found out, a few iTunes purchases can be fully played on QuickTime for Windows without warning.
Apple should update QuickTime for Windows as soon as possible in order to correct this iTunes authorization bug.

  • Lost full hd resolution output via VGA to monitor

    Hello Everyone,
I was happily recieving full hd output from my macbook to my monitor via a VGA cable. I then disconnected the VGA cable (and the connected mini-displayport to VGA adaptor) from my macbook. I then plugged them back in as before. However, this time I can no longer select 1920*1080 (Full Hd) from my macbook's display settings for my external monitor. What went wrong?
    Thank you

Not sure; you may try and check all settings after a reset
of the System Management Controller (SMC) to see if
that makes a difference. Or spend some time with a whole
pile of things, as some of us said in the early Mac OS X
days, throw the kitchen sink at it.
Boot into SafeBook mode, repair disk permissions, check
or verify the hard drive, get a coffee. Check the wires to
see if one of them went on permanent vacation, & so on.
Looking at 1:14AM here, so not sticking around...
    Good luck with taming gremlins!

  • Video export via component not widescreen and bad quality

I have a dvd ripped to a .mov file. Chose to keep maximum quality and resolution. Its over 6gb. Its widescreen/letterbox/16:9.
When i connect to my 42" hi def tv via component cable, the full widescreen is not shown, it zooms in and cuts off the sides. I have tried widescreen on/off on the phone, and the tv's aspect settings, but nothing works.
    Anyone know why this is?
Also the quality is really bad.
Its the same if using airplay so suspect its the phone.
I am quite disappointed by this, i thought it would show the video as it is on the .mov file on the computer. Itunes plays it fine.
Would the ipad do the same as the phone, or output video properly as it's supposed to be?
    Thanks

I found the issue but dont know how to fix it... I have 4 mp4 files of the high quality and widescreen format. I imported them into iMovie so I can export as one big file. When adding them to the project iMovie just reduces the clips quality and does not show them at widescreen and crops the left/right sides off so it can fit in the iMovie window. There is nothing in the movie properties to fix this.

  • No video output via hdmi

I have a brand new Apple Mac Mini that was just delivered via Fed Ex a couple of hours ago.
I CANNOT get video to display over HDMI on my 50" plasma. When I comnect it and boot all I see is "no video input."
I have a newer, smaller Sharp plasma that will show the Apple start-up/splash screen for 15-20 seconds then the screen goes black.
I think the resolution in the settings is too high for my mini but how do I change if I cant see the **** screen?
I believe both of these TV's max out at 720p.
PS. AppleCare Support wants to send me another computer but I can guarantee it isnt a hardware failure.
    Any thoughts?

Well, BSteely, where to begin? After my extensive discussions with more than one support engineer at Apple in Toronto as well as in Austin an interesting picture is emerging. Seems that I'd omitted a few things: First, I was not trying to display HD content but rather standard definition content. Second, I made the mistake hoping for an elegant and easy solution in hookup via HDMI (new flatscreens don't even have a DVI port anymore) - bad mistake! As one of the technicians put it, HDMI is an "unsettled" platform when it comes to HDCP, currently in version 1.4 , meaning, I should have tried VGA instead, a "settled" platform after all. Now, whether this will work remains to be seen because I don't have a micro DVI to VGA adapter yet but suffice to say that in essence I've been getting the message from Apple that, yes, the MacBook Air will - in the near future - support HDCP, but for now it does not contain the necessary software simply because HDMI is in its forth incarnation; plus, as they put it, Apple can't be responsible for testing compatibility with every single HD television set on the market - while it is true that there are thousands in existence, at the same time there are only four versions of HDMI with different HDCP specs! So, while I may be partially answering my own query here, it seems that Apple at this point is not particularly eager to make this software available because they rather would like to sell their new displays with the micro DVI ports instead of us endusers being able to hook the computer video signal up to just ANY monitor or TV. In the end, it is my hope that they will reconsider and not forget who their customers are, maybe after the Christmas season....

  • Connects via VGA, not DVI

I'm having a bit of a display problem with my Mac mini. The problem is that any digital connection from the mini via DVI cable doesn't seem to work. Right now I have an old crt monitor hooked up with the DVI to VGA adapter and any monitor seems to work this way. I have a DVI to DVI, and DVI to HDMI cable that's always worked before with the TV's and my regular Acer monitor. One night I was on Facebook, youtube, blah blah blah. Not doing anything out of the ordinary like installing programs or applying updates. The next time I try to use my Mac and the monitor says "no signal". I plugged the computer in the tv and it was saying the same thing. That's when I took the old crt monitor with the adapter and plugged it in which that works flawlessly. I tried repairing permissions, doing the intel SMC reset, and other basic troubleshooting steps.
This doesn't apply to the display issue, but withen the past year I've had components like the airport and, Superdrive fail spontaneously on separate accounts. I have those things somewhat fixed via an external DVD burner and an ethernet wire. I don't know if that has to do with the logic board of some sort, but perhaps that can help ya guys.
What steps would you sugest next?

    BSteely,
Alright. I get what your saying. I figured something like that happened, but I was kinda hoping it was a software issue since the Mac wasn't moved, budged, or handled in any way. I know most of the troubleshooting steps on a mac and a whole bunch on a PC considering that's what I fix on a daily basis. I don't do a whole lot of logic board work so I guess I'll have to live with the vga connection which I can live with. I'll have to find a decent LCD screen somewhere that supports vga so I don't have to keep this clunky crt on my desktop.
I finally decided to use the time machine feature and this is gonna do awesome. I bought a 1 TB drive to plug in through the usb port and it's working wonderfully. I know how ironic it is to have someone that repairs computers and not keep a back up.
Thanks for all the input BSteely. This isn't really anything that can be solved to I gave you the helpful star since you did give me that diagnostic. I truly appreciate it!

  • Video output via composite cable & video output on iPad screen

Is it possible to have the video play on the iPad simultaneously as it outputs to composite cable? Whenever I play a video with the composite cable plugged in, the iPad displays a screen shot of a random video (same screen shot every single time). It's a complete mystery to me. Any ideas?

It sounds normal to me. The composite and AVGA out on the iPad do not mirror the the iPad's display as you found out. However, there may be some apps that will show video on both screens.

  • Forcing output via VGA on a MBP

So I have four monitors hooked up via an active VGA splitter, only problem is that while my MBP recognizes the VGA adapter (screen fades blue for a second) it refuses to actually output any image to the VGA port.

I am having the same problem. It seems to be an apple hardware problem. I find it very fustrating that all the windows driven computers i have been using over the many years have NEVER had any problem with output on external vga device.
how on earth can you use this computer for presentation when it simply dont work? (using DVI works with out any problem at all, its only related to VGA)
I have searched the internett and found out that the seems to be some devices it works on and some it don't. Maybe it outputs too low power on the vga?? but apple, can you fix this problem?! its very fustrating and it seems to me that there are sevral people having this problem. if this problem still persist, i have to drop using MBP's in the company i work, and move back to hp or lenovo.

  • Can I get HD Quicktime video output via Windows 7

How can I put this.  I have a fellow employee to states that it is impossible to produce HD quality QuickTime via via Windows 7.  Is this an accurate statement?

    Not true.
If your source files are in high definition format you can edit and export via QuickTime Player Pro.

The Audio Midi Setup utility may need to have its settings updated.
That's if you have the right adapter:
