Video playback control to be keyboard accessible

I need to make player controls accessible in Flash CS3 by using only the Tab and Enter keys. I am using the FLVPlayback's SkinUnderAllNoFullscreen.swf. Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem and the reset didn't fix it. In fact I went in to the store and the Apple Genius saw the issue and replaced my ipod with a rebuilt ipod that had ipod 2.x software. I upgraded it to 3.2 and once again the playback controls don't show up. Called support and they think it's a bug ... hoping for a fix.
Any ideas?

  • Video playback control won't show after upgrade to 3.1

    Hi,
I have a iPod Touch 2nd Generation. After upgrading from 2.2 to 3.1, when I tap the video during video playback, the playback control won't show. I have to tap it many many times in order for the playback control to show. Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? It is upsetting to pay for an upgrade that would break existing behavior.
    Thanks.

  • Captivate 7 event video playback controls not working

    Hi,
I'm using Captivate 7 and published an mp4 event video with limited playback controls (only play, pause, back, and close) on the slide, since the event video controls won't show up once published. When I publish the HTML5 video (with or without seamless tabbing) the controls are not working. When I click play the video plays and I can pause it, but when I want to continue play, the controls are not working.
I tried only to use the skins (clear, corona, and halo) given with the event video, but then I can't pause the video at all, since the controls are not showing.
We need the video to play in HTML5 mode for iPads and computers, but we're at a loss with the controls. The video has got to be limited to only play, pause, back, and close - no scrubbing or forwarding. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Nat

I know you will hate Captivate for this. But if you are publishing to HTML5, the skins you select here won't make any difference as HTML5 output comes with its own mysterious skin which is not visible until you publish and check.
Here is how that skin looks when viewed in Google Chrome browser on my laptop running on Windows 7.
Here is the skin I have used for that in the Captivate editor.
The best way to test these outputs is from a webserver or SCORM Cloud.

  • How do you fix scaling issue with any video playback control bar (too small to see) on Firefox 28?

Using a 3200x1800 dpi resolution lap top (Samsung Ultrabook 9 series), when I want to play videos on a webpage, the playback control bar (runs across the bottom of a given video for settings like play, pause, sound level, etc.) is too small to see. I tried scaling using various methods, Windows 8.1 OS, Firefox ad-ons like No squint with no success. Of course, these tools work to rescale everything else but the playback control bar. This is not a problem on IE as when you rescale, everything including the playback control bar
    rescales. Thanks

You can set the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to 1.0 or on Windows 8 to 1.25 and if necessary adjust layout.css.devPixelsPerPx starting from 1.0 in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) to make icons show correctly.

  • Video playback controls

    So.
I have imported an mp4-video (animation) in library an added it on to stage.
With three buttons i want to click through the animation in 3 sequences.
First of all there is a stop action before the video starts playing, so that you can click button 1 to start the video. Then button 2 for the next sequence etc.
In the video playback-options, i have paused the video and added a StopAll-trigger before the label "sekvens2", and the I added a click-function to the button 2 with Play From* calling the label.
Works fine when you click continously through the buttons from 1 to 3, but when I click button 2 from the beginning it wont play the video from that specific place.
What to do? Has it somthing to do with my Playback options? Or?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Martin,
Sorry for the delay. So there are a few ways to approach this. Before I begin, let me explain how video (and audio) is treated within Animate:
Video/audio elements are similar to symbols in Animate: they must be explicitly addressed, and they behave as if they have their own "timeline" (duration, really). Unlike symbols, there's no actual timeline for the media element itself, but you can address them in similar ways.
So in your composition, your buttons use code such as sym.play("sekvens1"); - this code is essentially telling Animate's Stage to play from the label "sekvens1", and it will do so. But you're not telling the video element named "Rais_Bionic_Final_12" to play, or where in the video to play from - and so it does not also play.
The simplest way to make this work the way you would like is to add a Play From action to the video element at each of the label times, and enter the time you'd like the video element to play from. If you want to do more coding, you can also do it that way.
I hope this explains it, but if anything is unclear, feel free to ask.
    Regards,
    Joe

  • Video playback controls in full-screen mode???

I just downloaded a TV show and want to watch it full screen. Unfortunately, in full-screen mode I can't seem to figure out how to control the playback (e.g. Rewind a few seconds to hear something I missed).
I tried all sorts of keyboard shortcuts to no avail. Am I missing something?

    Ba,
It may be of interest to know that streaming video codecs are designed for computers of a specific age (CPU and GPU speeds).
DVD quality streams MPEG-2 compression at about 10 Mbits/sec, and the older MPEG-1 compression, designed for NTSC television, streams at about 2 Mbits/sec. At 10 Mbits/sec, the processor must work faster to decompress & display the image. The latest compressions are based on MPEG-4. Even a G3 iBook could display MPEG-4 full screen; so I don't think you need a faster GPU.
Microsoft codecs & containers, the last time I checked, were ancient: based upon MPEG-2. So, check your speed:
    DSL Reports speed tests
    http://www.dslreports.com/stest
If you use Wi-Fi, IEEE 802.11n is fastest.
Increase the cache size for your codec, if you can. It needs to be contiguous, so I dare to recommend iDefrag 2 (US$30) to clean your remaining disk space and obtain about 20 GB of contiguous space. Video display uses many operating system files, which are likely not fragmented; but you can also de-fragment the Windows codec if it lies in over 100 fragments. (The Spotlight database usually has over 1000 fragments; but pauses in it don't affect one's pleasure in using it.)
My low-resolution DVD is interpolated by my graphics card, and look beautiful at maximal resolution. Streaming graphics apparently isn't programmed to interpolate low resolution: it demands high resolution and high bandwidth.
If you can't increase the cache in WMP, you can lower the resolution of your monitor. That may be why this System Preference was designed to sit on the desktop's top bar.

  • How to adjust klick area of buttons in video playback control skins?

    Hello,
I am far from a heavy flash user (yet), and try to figure some really basic things:
I've adjusted the SkinOverPlayStopSeekMuteVol_ skin (under a new name, of course) that comes with Flash CS4 in the FLVPlaybackSkins/ActionScript 3.0.
I've already put up some clients videos on a website but am not satisfied with the surrounding click area of the buttons
(in my case make them far larger so the user doesn't have to hit the exact small shown area)
Some buttons or bars come with certain Hit/Click areas that I can adjust by e.g. simply resizing their graphic.
Other buttons like the play button movie clip don't seem to have such.
Where ist and how can I adjust their click area that surrounds them?
    Another question:
when I select/edit e.g. the play button disabled apart from the icon I do also have a button in my timeline/on stage which only displays with a littel cross and a circle. what are these exactly? and how can I control them/what can I control with them. it looks like that invisible click area I am looking for but I have no clue how to control them, what the rules are when moving them around (the blue border around the buttons changes when I move the around, but what are the rules/controls really)
    can anybody help me please?
    thanks,
    beatrice

You can have too little or too much light on the backdrop. It can be a fine line when shooting high key video.
Standing far enough away from the background is important. You do not want the light that is shining on the background to also shine on you. Also, you can use flags to keep the lights themselves from being seen in the camera. I would use a 4'X8' styrofoam board on each side to block the lights. Paint one side black, or cheat and cover it with black fabric. That way one side is a great reflector and the other sucks up the light.
So, now that you are farther away, you light yourself with the standard three light setup, Key, Fill and Hair. Just keep in mind that you do not want to be lit as bright as the background is. Keep it a stop or two below the background for starters.
So if you set your exposure for your face, then the background will be blown out. It may take some adjustment to get just the right amount of blown out. Too much light on the background still causes some to bounce back on you regardless, and it confuses the camera.

  • Video playback controls not working properly

    video
I put a video into edge and it works but the player controls don't show up when you roll over any part of the movie they only show up if you roll over a specific area at the bottom of the video, A very small area. I want them to be there either always or when the user rolls over any part of the video. I attached a link of the video.

  • Air for Android no video playback controls

    Hi there
    I'm using Flash Professional CS5.5
I'm currently developing a Android app, I've imported a video clip using the import video wizard.
I've tested it by publisihng it to my Android device, the video clip plays fine but there are no play/pause buttons underneath the video clip.
I'm a newbie so I'm unsure as to what to do, as I thought it would just be there as I selected a skin, If I publish preview it on my PC, the controls are there.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Video playback in Aperture

    Hi,
I've imported alot of video in Aperture, converting with handbrake and I can view it fine. My problem is the archaic viewing options that come with Aperture. It's very difficult to make the slider go back or forward. I like to watch my kids sports etc. and when I need to analysis a play, it's painful to try and go back 10 seconds or so. Is there a way to have a more powerful player be used as a default inside Aperture?
    Thanks for any insight.
    John

Your options are limited; there are ways to get what you want, but they are not as smooth as they should be. Video in Aperture is, as you've discovered, quite limited.  One shouldn't have to resort to external editors to simply play and analyze video.  You might suggest to Aperture that they provide video playback controls at least equivalent to QuickTime 10:  "Aperture→Provide Aperture Feedback".
    1.  Learn to use two fingers on the trackpad (if you aren't already).  Trackpads work better if you use one finger to click, and another finger to drag.  I use my index fingers.  For small adjustments to sliders, click-and-hold with one finger, then set your other finger on the pad, and roll that fingertip left or right.  (I'm on an early 2011 MBP {5.5}, running 10.6.8.)
    2.  For playback only (DO NOT edit this way), you might make your video files Referenced on import.  Then you can right-click a movie and select "Show in Finder".  From Finder, simply use Quick View (still not quite what you want), or open the file in QuickTime 10 (iirc, is part of the OS).  QuickTime 10 has much fuller playback options, including changing the speed both forward and backward, and using the arrow keys to step through frames.
    3.  If you prefer to use an external editor to view your movies, set one up via "Aperture→Preferences→External Video Player".  You can specify QuickTime 10, QuickTime 7 (you may have this pre-dumbed-down version of QT on your system if you've upgraded from previous versions of OS X), or any other editor.  I use MPEG Streamclip -- but it's likely overkill for what you want.  The problem with this method is that even if you don't make any changes, Aperture will create a second Master.  Since these Masters have no use to you, and take up significant storage space, you will want to delete them manually.  This process is flawed and not recommended.
Note that QT 7, QT 10, MPEG Streamclip, and others all have the ability to move forward or backward using the arrow keys.  This gives excellent control of playhead positioning, and will, I think, be exactly what you are looking for.

  • Create playback controls for Timeline in sync with audio?

    Hi All,
Technically, I've combined two questions into one. Firstly, can someone offer some insight on how to create playback controls for an Edge animation so the user can essentially "scrub" the timeline or navigate to a specific point on the timeline. I know you can create buttons to "sym.play()" different areas but I was wondering if there was a more streamlined solution (something similar to video playback controls.) Next, I'd like the user to be able to skip to different locations while the music remains in sync with the animations. I've created a few buttons to attempt to achieve this but the music plays independently regardless of where I jump to on the timeline.
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I had some ideas why that may be so, but then, when I thought about it, properly, i have no idea why it is that way. Maybe it is because audio has a higher priority than graphics, in OS X, but if I remember correctly, it was like this before OS X. Maybe there is an offset for latency compensation, but they made it too large. (it seems to be the same amount, no matter what the buffer size is)
just to make sure we are seeing the same thing. on my (somehat old) G4 I'm seeing about 60ms difference.

  • 508 compliance--Playback control shortcuts and screen readers

Reference to 508 compliance. If you publish the SWF file to
include the playback control bar what keyboard shortcuts work
and/or can you program them? What will screen readers programs do
    with the playback control buttons?

Hmmm, so if I'm understanding the situation correctly, the
ideal response would work like this?
User types some text and is SUPPOSED to press Enter to
evaluate the text. Instead, they press Tab. Immediately upon
pressing Tab, they might see a message of some sort advising the
action is incorrect and further advising that Enter is the correct
    action.
I could see this possibly happening a couple of different
    ways.
    1. You could insert a click box configured with a Success
caption containing the advisory information. Then set the shortcut
keystroke for the click box object to be Tab. End result should be
that the user presses Tab, sees the success caption (which looks
like a failure caption, since they didn't do what was expected) and
the action of the click box would result in re-displaying the slide
with the Text Entry box. (You do this by pointing at a .1 second
slide immediately preceding the slide with the Text Entry box.)
    2. You could possibly configure the Text Entry box so that
either Enter or Tab will serve as the shortcut. You do this by
modifying the Text Entry box properties so it includes a Button as
the trigger. The trick is to assign the Enter key to the Text Entry
box itself and the Tab key to the button. (or vice-versa) Then you
configure the button so it's invisible.
Hopefully one of these helps... Rick

  • Volume control for video playback through Apple TV2

I am trying to configure the volume settings used on airplay through apple TV2 and a macbook pro and Iphone4 all with most recent updates.
I am using the apple remote app on my iphone to control the apple tv.
    Whats working:
Using the pandora app on my iphone through aiplay to the apple tv, I can control the volume using the plus and minus buttons on the side of the iphone for volume control. Very cool and easy.
Using the apple remote app on my iphone I can control the itunes volume of different speakers by clicking on the airplay icon and using a slider.  Not as cool as using the hard +/- buttons but still works.
    Whats not working:
Controling volume on appleTV2 through the iphone remote app for video playbacks like netflix, and youtube.
Why I want this: RIght now I can control most of the multimedia right from my iphone including cranking the music up:) But when I switch over to video(Netlfix, Youtube) I have to get out another remote (stereo reciever) to control the volume. It seems we are so close to being able to control everything off the iphone, the only thing missing is volume control for video playback.
Is there a setting that can be changed or a solution I havent found?
    Thanks

Same problem with TV3. HDMI volume output is not adjustable, neither with the original Apple remote nor with any universal. Why ? Every simple settop-box is able to be volume adjusted. And a Mac Mini too ?!!!
I use a flatscreen TV. it has 3 HDMI inputs and one optical out for the audio going to an amp standing behind it. The sound of the TV is switched to go to the optical out.
HDMI 1 is connected to the satellite settop box with its  own remote control ( channel +/-, volume +/- etc. ) it work s fine.
HDMI 2 is connected to the MacMini HDMI out with its own remote control ( channel/music +/-, volume +/- ) it works fine too.
HDMI 3 was connected to Apple TV3 with its own remote control ( channel/music +/- but no volume ). I sent the TV3 back to Apple.
What's going wrong in the mind of Apple ? Why is the HDMI volume output of the MacMini adjustable with the Apple remote, and the TV3 not ?
I want not to discuss, wether a 4th remote control is useful or not. I don't want it. I want to adjust the volume with the originl remote control of the specific unit I use, because I need it anyway. It worked since years, but not with Apple TV3.
How can we help Apple to open the volume +/- function on their own remote control ?

  • IPad mini losses playback controls/capabilities using shared library content videos

While accessing my shared "authorized" video library on my MacBook Pro, using the latest iTunes version (as of this submission), with my sparkling new iPad mini, the playback controls simply disappear usually after a few minutes, i.e. no progress bar, buttons for stop/start/pause/"done".
The video stream from the shared library cannot be stopped without the on-screen controls so we either attempt to turn off the unit (pressing the top on/off button) or (usually) press the home button after which the video stream/app stops then return to the expected ipad screen but the residual sound stream will continue to run indefinitely.
Most of the time, we hit the home button to end the video playback then wait for the sound stream portion to end which on average takes up to 1-5 minutes to stop completely.
    This is repeatable too.
    SUMMARY:
1). Without power cycling, we can play a video from the shared librar
2). then wait long enough for the video controls to "go missing" or again go unresponsive
3.) then press the home button which returns you to your normal iPad screen
4.) but the sound stream portion will take a while to take its course before ending.
Also, we gave power-cycling between issues but the each and every time, the shared library video playback inevitably ended up with same results.
iPad mini with iOS 6.1.3 factory , wifi only unit with legitimate software, etc. I.e. no jailbreak nonsense.
Any suggestions?  Or is this a glitch/bug which needs addressing?  Or a simple setting on the unit?
    Thanks in advance!!!

I have nearly the same problem, but with an iPad 3rd generation. The symptoms are exactly the same, just a different device.
You documented the problem well, I can only add that resetting and reloading did not solve the problem for me.
