Video Playback Flicker Windows 7/8 Media Center? Disable Intel Dynamic Contrast to stop it

If you bought a Mac Mini for use as a Windows Media Center DVR Computer like me, you'll notice a background flicker on live tv or recorded tv.
Mine is the Mac Mini (Late 2012 Model) with Intel HD 4000 Graphics
If you go into the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel. (icon in lower right) Go to Graphics Properties, Advanced Mode, Media, Image Enhancement, and UN-check the box for "Adaptive Contrast Enhanscement"
Video will then be flicker free!  (aka 29/59 bug)
Here's a video that walks you through it.
http://youtu.be/9g6Z1sWOOIA
Also, if you have white snow, or video blank outs their is a firmware update for the Mac Mini 2012 model itself.   I use Boot Camp, so my Mac OS X Mountain Lion side could update things when needed.  (but leave the machine running 99% of the time in Windows 8 as my DVR)
I learned this from:
http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4022
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1439885/screen-flickering-in-wmc-during-video-playback -have-intel-hd-4000-graphics

Great tip/post, thanks!

  • Windows 10 Becomes Windows 8 When Media Center is added

While setting up and installing Media center with the Key that I have, It changes Windows 10 to windows 8.1 pro.
It keeps all the files, but renders builds useless.
I think that there needs to be a way to disable this or fix it.
a lot of people that are using Media center would like to use it with out it mucking up the works.
Is there a way to repair and fix this issue.
Oh and Media Center Does not Run it crashes when trying to execute on Windows 10 Enterprise.

Media Center is NOT supported by Win 10.
    Sorry.

Reviewing the data, it appears that to be inaccurate
to state that "Media Center" "is NOT Compatible with windows 10".
I give this reason for the justification of the argument
Windows Media Center is Keycode activated
and is part of the OS.
If it is a part of the os then it is intentional design of the product .
There fore seeing how it is a part of the product and there is no Hack being performed then how can we state that Media Center is not compatible.
that is like stating that my "Honda Insight" while it is a Hybrid can not run in electric only mode.
While not advertised to be able to run it in electric Mode, a knowledgeable  user can manipulate the gas pedal and use electric mode as it was intended for .In this case the gas pedal depressed sends the vehicle in to charging mode, and then a light
amount of pressure on the gas will allow the said vehicle  to run in Electric mode only until said battery is depleted.
Gas Pedal  is  the control mechanism for activating and deactivating the EV mode in the car
Windows Key Code is the mechanism for activating certain software in windows.
So this statement must be true and logical.
Windows 10 is built on Windows 8 back bone and thus because this is true, Windows 10 becomes Windows 8 Media Center because Windows 10 is windows 8 at the heart of the beast.
So to state that Media Center is NOT compatible is an untrue statement.
How ever what is true once you activate  Media Center, there is enough changes to the registry that renders it to Windows 8 but not enough to cause a full deactivation.
Also if it where the case then , the registry system should have rejected the key .
So in my opinion Windows 10 is Windows 8 as it should have been originally .

  • I purchased Windows 8 Prow/Media Center, now I can't get it to download

I purchased Windows 8 Pro and the Media Center pack and installed them on a computer which was recently stolen. Upon replacing the laptop with a similar machine I am unable to download Windows 8. I can connect to the site and the download begins,
but it estimates more than 12 hours for the download. The few times I've tried to wait it out, something
always happens to cause the download to fail. Other programs I have downloaded to replace the stolen ones have downloaded very quickly, under an hour for an above 1GB program, but Windows 8 is not hardly downloading at all. The new machine came preinstalled
with Windows 8.1, but won't upgrade to Pro w/Media Center. Am I going to have to install Windows 7 and then try upgrading again, or should I be able to reinstall the OS from the website even though the version being downloaded is Windows 8 and the current
    OS is Windows 8.1?

Thanks for your quick response, but I will not be purchasing
    anymore
(This is totally absurd, you guys can't even program your website to work right!)
    Microsoft
(Well since the buttons aren't working, I guess this will have to be done in bold type?!?) products in the future. I am totally fed up with Microsoft and Apple forcing their customers to constantly change to new OS's with all kinds of "bells and whistles"
that I don't and have never had need for and consequently new machines in order to use their computers. I haven't programmed for years, but I'm going to go to
    Linux anddliub
(why does this write backwards? That was supposed to be 'build') my own software. Terrible inconvenience, but maybe I can get a movement started!

  • How to fix choppy video playback on Windows Surface Tablet

Choppy video playback is driving me crazzzy.  How can I fix it?

If you're using Internet Explorer, there is nothing you can do here in the way of reinstalling, repairing or even updating it.
Microsoft embeds it and it's "their baby".
You can try repairing IE: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378
Also, make sure it's porperly enabled:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448
and that ActiveX controls aren't blocking it:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Apart from that, streaming issues are connectivity related if they persist.

  • Poor video playback with Windows XP

    Hi all,
I am trying to play TV shows that bought from the ITMS (Xena & Star Trek remixed originals). I seem to be getting poor video playback performance. The video is briefly freezing and skipping. The frame rate is also not very good.
    System specs:
    2.6GHz P4 with hyperthreading enabled
    2GB RAM
Matrox Parhelia 128 video card (latest drivers and firmware)
    Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum
WinXP Pro SP2 + latest hotfixes
    iTunes 7.2
I bought my first TV show after upgrading to iTunes 7.2 so I can't compare performance with v7.1 or earlier. I've tried playing the videos from a local IDE (D:, 60GB free out of 120GB) and from my 1TB Buffalo Terastation (RAID 5, 750GB). The performance is the same. The CPU activity varies from 75% to 95% CPU usage while playing the videos.
Even though my Matrox Parhelia is 3 years old it is still one of Matrox's top performance video cards and does excelent 2D and pretty good 3D.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steven

You're leaping to a conclusion that isn't supported by any facts. Just because you are having a problem is not an indictment of Safari 4. I'm having no trouble, nor are millions of other users, so that destroys your thesis. The problem is something that was a pre-existing condition on your Mac.
Did either of you Repair Disk Permission before and after installing it? If not, start with that. Do you have the most recent version of Flash installed? If not, download the Flash uninstaller from the Adobe web site, then the lastest Flash installer and run those, then restart Safari and test it on some video.

  • No video playback on Windows 8 Pro

I'm trying to play vídeos on my Windows 8 and all I can see is a black screen and I can only hear the sound.
This happens everywhere. Youtube, video apps, media player. I can't understand why.
I've installed already the K-Lite Codec pack and I've upgraded my AMD video card. But still no luck.
    Only sound , no video.
Also, if it helps, I have a Vaio J Series (all-in-one) also know as VPCJ215FB.
    Could you please help me?
    Thanks in advance

    SOLVED, well atleast for me.
@bobbyram1 , your solution did work for me but partly. I could use metro video app, youtube player started working, but I couldn't get my cs softwares like premiere pro run. it was because your solution doesn't exactly installs ati driver, rather it removes installed
display driver and replaces with Microsoft basic display adapter driver that doesn't fully utilize the hardware. maybe it had worked fine for many users, but I have a simple solution to install radeon graphics on windows 8 without blue screen theory.
@all, I am using a windows 7 based sony vpceb44en notebook, upgraded to windows 8.1. it's got ati radeon hd 5470 graphics, HD 5000 series.
I downloaded original graphics driver for windows 7 from sony vaio website. started the exe file that displayed sony branded window highlighting "installation in progress". after a few seconds when the setup file is extracted in temp folders,
ati catalyst install manager app will pop up. don't do anything with the setup file, instead open tast manager (from contextual menu, 'window key' + 'x'). right click on catalyst insall manager and select open file location. once the explorer
window opens, go one step back and select and copy the following folders to wherever u like: Bin64 (or maybe 86), Config, Images, Packages.
go to device manager through windows key + x contextual menu. go to display adapters and select the graphics hardware, double click. go to driver tab, select update driver. next, select browse my computer. select let me pick from a list of
device drivers. select have disk. browse to the extracted saved folders of ati graphics --> ur folder name/Packages/Drivers/Display/W76A_INF. select the inf file from the folder.
afterwards you'll get your driver listed in the have disk window, select it, click next and install, and restart. later if you browse to device manager you will see your display graphics hardware name. later on you can install catalyst manager software through
    setup.
if in case it doesn't work download amd cleanup utility from amd site. run it, let it flash display driver and restart the pc. go to device manager and select Microsoft basic display adapter from display adapters, and follow the same above "have
    disk" installation procedure.
hope I have helped you all.
NOTE: before you do all this, make sure you create a restore point. it shall help you if anything goes wrong with the os.

  • Poor coverflow browsing and video playback on Windows Vista

I built a new computer recently and upgraded from XP to Vista. The machine is a 2.4GHZ Core 2 Quad 6600 with 2gig of DDR2 ram and a 8800GTS 360mb; No lightweight by any means.
However, when I go to view albums in cover flow or play videos I bought in the iTunes Store the playback is actually worse than my previous computer, an Athlon 64 3000.
Has anyone else had a similar experience or found a fix?

    Read this discussion thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5391182#5391182
I found that disabling Readyboost on a recently inserted SD card caused my problem. Disabling this resolved all my choppy video issues.

  • Windows media center to ipod

How do I convert recorded tv (wmv) from my media center to something my ipod will recognize, without buying extra programs?
I already tried windows web site and followed their directions. It did sync to my ipod but it's functioning more like an external hard drive and not a player.(i.e. I can see the files on my ipod if I open it from my pc, but not on the ipod menu)
When I go to itunes, there is more orange (video) space used on my ipod, but none of the tv shows appear on the tv/video/movie list. I know I'm missing something and I know there has got to be a way to make this work. Please help!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try searching google for ways to convert .wmv files to .mov files. (or quicktime format (windows media player video to quicktime video))
Then use quicktime pro or iTunes to convert those .mov files to an iPod-compatible format.

  • WET610N and streaming Netflix or Windows 7 Media Center

I am trying to find out if I can use the WET610N to stream Netflix, my Windows 7 Media Center and DirecTV VOD to my HDTV.
Also, what is the best way  to configure: 1) use the CD or 2) let the DirecTV HD DVR
Hardware: Linksys Router, wireless PC with WIndows 7 and Media Center, Panasonic HDTV, DirecTV DVR and I'd like to  get the above mentioned to work.
    Thanks. HmS-PA

The best way to configure your WET610N is to connect the WET to the Router and run the setup disk on your computer and configure all the settings on it (SSID, Channel, Security Key).... Once you are done with all these configuration changes, then you need to Unplug the Power and the Ethernet Cable from the Bridge and then, connect the Bridge to your DirecTV HD DVR and then plug the power to the WET...

  • Video playback pauses/freezes when I move my T500... also keeps dropping wireless connection...

Video playback in Windows Media, Quicktime and in Firefox (youtube, etc.) pauses when I physically move my laptop. I've never had this happen on any other laptop. Any suggestions?
Another annoying problem is that it drops the wireless connection in my home every couple of minutes. This doesn't happen with any of the other 3 laptops I'm running so it's not my ISP or router.
    Thanks for any help!

The ThinkPad Active Protection System (APS) will protect the Hard Drive when you move your ThinkPad, and this probably causing the behaviour you are observing.  There are options for disabling APS for particular purposes, so you should have a look in the APS options... look in the ThinkVantage folder on your Start menu.
Regarding your WiFi issues, you need to make sure that all the relevant power managment settings for WiFi are set to Maximum Performance (or similar).  This has been covered in numerous messages here already. so a few minutes with the serach function should provide you with more details.

  • Adobe AIR Desktop Application - HD Video Playback

    Hello everyone,
I am new to the forums. Hope I am posting in the correct one.
I have been doing AS3 development for last 2 years. But recently I had to implement a HD Video playback in windows. I was happy to know that StageVideo helps in that case. So I started coding and created projector (not with Adobe AIR , but to play with Flash StandAlone player). Was working great , playing 3840*1080 video with ease, awesome performance. But the problem came when I had to switch to fullscreen in that program. We were using 2 Monitors with extended desktop to give 3840x1080 resolution. The Flash could switch only to one screen. I leanred a new thing , Flash just can not switch fullscreen on two screens, be it standalone/web.
Then I came across AIR , saw on some forums that with NativeWindow class you can pretty easily run a AIR app fullscreen on 2 different monitors. I thought awesome ! I installed Flash Develop and got started with AIR 3.7 SDK. when I ported my AS3 code for AIR app , came to know that the stageVideo does not work here (that was completely unexpected!). So Now I am confused which path to take as Flash can not go fullscreen on dual monitors, and AIR can not use stageVideo.
Any help will be appriciated. Thanks in advance.
    Edit -
The StageVideo Class seems available , but it returns the stage.stageVideos.length as 0. Attached a StageVideoAvailabiliityEvent to stage but seems it never is available. Any other way to play HD Video ? Native flash.media.Video is not able to handle such big video.

  • [TV@Master] ERROR .... TV Tuner & XP Media Center

Hello every body ,, I'm new member in this great site ..
    I have PC with :
    Intel Desktop Board D915GAV
    Pentium 4 Processor 3.4
    DDR 400/333  1 GB
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
    Intel High Definition Audio
    Hard Disk 120 GB SATA.
    MSI TV@nywhere Master
    Windows XP Professional Media Center
Now ,, my pc and MSI TV Tuner work properly and I see and record directly without any problem  , but the major problem is when I start Media Center to see and record from TV I got this message  .
I need your advice and help ..
    Thank you ..

the answer is already in the stickies:
    Quote
"Windows XP Media Center says that my "tuner hardware is malfunctioning or not installed" but I have installed the latest TV@nywhere drivers from MSI"
Neither the Vox or the TV@nywhere cards are compatible with MCE2005. MCE2005 requires an analogue TV card capable of hardware MPEG2 encoding, or a software DVB-T (digital) card that already receives an MPEG2 video stream over-the-air.
You can however still use the Vox or the TV@nywhere using the MSIPVS software outside of the MCE2005 application.
the only MSI TV products compatible with MCE are the Theater 550PRO and DigiVOX

  • Blotchy Video playback

I have ripped several DVDs to Video_TS files on my MacMini (identical settings during the transfer), however, some of the movies 'stutter' significantly during playback in FR. When I play the the Video_TS files in DVD player (or the actual DVDs in FR) they look fine, so it's not an issue with the video processing speed. Any suggestions?
    Thanks - Mike
