Video Playback issues with Ipod and Itunes

OK I just bought some episodes of a TV show last night, and I put them on my ipod(5th gen. 30GB). About halfway-sometimes 2/3-of the way through, the video stops playing, no audio, no movement, just stops like it is paused. I deleted them off my ipod, made sure my ipod was up to date, and put them back on. Problems still there. Then i went to watch them in Itunes, and in the same places they freeze again. Itunes is up to date too.So now i have these videos that i paid for, that don't work completely on either my Ipod nor on Itunes. Help Please?

the good news is that you have pretty much isolated the issue. if the videos don't play completely on either the ipod or itunes, then the videos or tv shows are possibly corrupted. what you can do is contact the itunes store via a web form ( click here to go to form and scroll to the bottom)
tell the itunes store your tv shows have playback issues and say the same thing you posted. the itunes store should allow you to re-download the tv shows.

  • Video Playback ISSUE WITH VISTA!!!!  NEEDED HELP BADLY!!!!!!!

I am using a Dell XPS GEN 5 PC with Windows Vista Premium Edition as the current OS installed. I have latested up date for Itunes and QuickTime (7.1.6) Installed. I have recently bought and downloaded 3 of the Original Star Trek Tv Shows from Itunes. When I try and play one of them, they don't work. The Screen comes up, the show starts, then stops. Sometimes the sound keeps on playing, and then stops. Sometimes it just dosent even come on. I'm guessing (as a highly advanced Windows PC User) That this ia a "video/playback issue, related to a Apple/Vista Compatibility problem. I would like help solving this problem.
    -Nick.

Do you have a SATA hard drive? I have the same problem you describe when trying to play videos in iTunes. Do the previews of music videos on the iTunes web site play OK? If they do you probably have the same problem with SATA HD and iTunes incompatibility. Not sure who is going to fix that problem and when. I have found one fix that worked for me. Copy your video(s) to a flash drive and then play them from there. It's a workaround and you shouldn't have to do it but it does allow you to watch the videos.

  • Video playback issue with 3rd gen iPod Touch

    Hi all,
I just recently discovered an issue with my iPod touch 3rd generation video playback. The issue just reared its head today and I have no idea what I could've done to cause it. It's a small issue but frustrating enough to cause a problem.
If I watch a video normally (by opening up the Videos section and picking it), it'll play through to the end, then start over again, then stop. This only happens if I choose videos randomly, and doesn't happen if I play videos in a playlist.
    What could be the issue?

I'll second that. I've been having the same problem since the last software update

  • Video Playback Issues With Apple TV3 Running OS8

I have two Apple TV3s (Both Pre 2013)
One updated today to the latest OS8, the other still running the previous OS7.1.2
Now when trying to play virtually any of my own MP4 videos the OS8 firmware version Apple TV3 refuses to play the file.
Apple TV simply displays "An error occurred loading this content" (retrying simply displays the same error again)
If I then use the second Apple TV3 (running the older firmware OS7.1.2) and try to play exactly the same files from the same iTunes library the file will play back correctly.
So far the OS8 Apple TV3 is unable to play over 95% of the video files it could previously play prior to the firmware update.
The odd file will play but these files are of differing resolutions so don't appear to share anything in common. It is always the same files that will or wont play.
All video files are Profile 4.0 or lower and contain the required audio tracks.
    I am running iTunes 11.4.0.18 (Windows 8.1)
Prior to the update every video file played correctly (on both Apple TVs) and the second Apple TV3 (using the earlier OS7.1.2 firmware) still plays the exact same files correctly.
Music files are unaffected and playback correctly on both Apple TV3s.
The latest firmware update appears to have corrupted the video playback of the Apple TV3 in some way.
I have even tried a complete USB restore of the OS8 Apple TV3 but this has made no difference.
Has anyone else experienced MP4 playback issues since updating their Apple TV3 to OS8?
    Thank you in advance.

After further tests it would appear that Apple TV 7.0 (OS8) firmware is unable to play any video file with NO CHAPTER markers.
If I use MetaX to simply tag an unplayable MP4 file with a single chapter, that file will now play correctly using an Apple TV3 running Apple TV 7.0 (OS8). If the single chapter is then deleted the same file reverts to being unplayable.
In previous versions of Apple TV firmware any video file with NO CHAPTER markers could be played correctly and the Apple TV would automatically generate chapter markers at equally distributed time gaps.
For some reason Apple TV 7.0 (OS8) firmware appears to have removed this auto chapter marker feature so if a file has no chapter markers the Apple TV will now consider the file as invalid.
With MetaX it is possible to manually generate additional chapter markers so you can still skip through the file rather than only scan.
iFlick for Mac should I suspect be able to do the same thing.

  • Problem with IPod and Itunes

    Hi
Can anyone please help me I installed Itunes latest version and updated the old version on the PC. Now when I connect my ipod it showsin the side bar of itunes only to give a message saying it is in recovery mode and I need to restore factory settings. After having done this reluctantly - it is supposed to then be visible after the ipod has rebooted in itunes - it isn't and if I connect again says the same thing about recovery mode. I now have an ipod that effectively has nothing on it and I cannot use has any had the same problem or got any ideas?
    Many Thanks
    Karen

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • Help with Ipod and Itunes...

I have an ipod nano and have been using it successfully until tonight...I plugged it in to the USB port of my computer to upload some new songs and the ipod shows up as E:\ instead of "my ipod". It also says that I've used more space than I actually have. Any ideas on what I should do? Just FYI, I have already restarted my computer(twice), restarted the ipod, restarted itunes, tried using a different usb port, etc. Any other ideas on whats wrong?!?!

hmmm. is it showing up like that in your itunes sourcelist?
if so, it's probably worth checking on this possibility:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Music video playback issue with 10.4

Previous to Lion and iTunes 10.4 if I was view a playlist in coverflow and one of the songs was a video this video would play full screen and when it was finished iTunes would return cover flow and continue to flow through the playlist.  In 10.4 after the music video finishes I am either returned to the desktop if I was previously on the normal full screen iTunes view or retuned to the coverflow with it not tracking the songs, if viewing coverflow in full screen.  Any idea on how to make it work?

  • HH3 Rebooting and issues with Outlook and iTunes

    Hi All,
Early last week I started to receive emails from my NAS to say that communications had been lost, this usually occured during the early hours of the morning so didn't worry too much about it. During daylight hours we weren't experiencing any noticeable problems with our various connections (hard and wi-fi)
However, yesterday whilst working from home, my HH3 rebooted itself at a rather inoppotune moment.  Not done it today thankfully.
This week I have been unable to purchase anything from the iTunes store.  In fact it is usually a struggle to even open it.  Nine times out of ten it will just time out and tell me to check my network connection.
And now Outlook is playing up.  At random times, when I select a mail to view I receive a pop-up similar to this
and have to wait 10-15 seconds for contact to be made. V.Tedious.
I started reading through old forum posts but not being that technical a lot of the info has melted my brain.
I have tried a factory reset of the hub - no change on my iTunes and Outlook issues.
I switched the HH3 Firewall off and iTunes started working again so I did what I had to do and then switched the Firewall back on.
Today I have looked at the Hub log and I have pages and pages of 'PortMapping Add By UPNP/TR064 Error.'  Message is repeated every 2 minutes.
If anyone out there has experienced similar problems please can you offer any help?   I have attempted to read the HH3 Portmapping (NOT) thread attempted but most of it confused the hell out of me.

  • HELP WITH IPOD AND ITUNES MUSIC

for a reason unknown my music in itunes has been wiped! just dissapeared.  the music is still on my ipod, the only music i get from my ipod back onto itunes are recent purchases. does anyone know how i can get music from my ipod back onto my itunes?? thank you.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintaina  abckup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases or you can redownload some itunes purchases in som countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Syncing issues with Ipod and Nike

    Hi,
I have a new Ipod Nano 7th generation. I use the Nike + app when I run. After each run I sync my Ipod via Itunes to send the stats from my run to the Nike + website. That all works fine. The problem is that when I disconnect my Ipod (properly) after sending my Nike + data via ITunes, all the music is gone from my Ipod.
I then reconnect my Ipod and when ITunes opens, ITunes it shows that my music and playlists exist on the Ipod. But in fact it is not. So when I recopy the music to the Ipod it forces me to restore the Ipod and then I have to configure it from scratch.
This is very annoying and it happens every time I connect my Ipod and send my Nike + data. My desktop is running Windows 8 64 bit and ITunes 11 is the latest version.
I actually returned the Ipod to Walmart today and they gave me a new Ipod. It is doing the exact same thing.
    Pleas help!
    Thanks

  • Trouble with iPod and iTunes update

alright, I put another post on this board about the problem, but no responses really helped. I also went way back and read many other posts, and have yet to find anything that relates to my problem. I also searched through google, and found nothing. There are many things that are similar but don't cure my problem. Everytime that I plug my iPod into my computer to update it, a message pops up saying, "Attempting to copy to the disk 'M@'s IPOD' failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." I have seen error messages that have a (-36) or a (-50), or something like that, but never any that have a (-69). Sometimes a few songs will actually update, but most of the time, none do before this error message pops up. Also, whenever I plug it in and it starts to try the update, the iPod begins making a small buzzing sound; this seems odd to me. I have uninstalled and removed iTunes from my computer and reloaded it, updated the iPod multiple times, I have done all of the famed "5 R's", but nothing has yet fixed this problem. I honestly have no idea what to do and have been spending hours over the past few days trying to fix it, but nothing is working. Please somebody help me with this, because I fear my iPod may just be broken. It is a click-wheel 20GB that I've had for about a year and a half. Someone please try to help with this one...Thanks

I'm doing the HDD scan right now, but its taking quite a while (nearly an hour) and is still "scanning". Am I doing something wrong, or is the HDD scan just supposed to take this long? And thank you for providing that link...it seems that it may provide some help, but I am still confused as of this point.

  • Help with Ipod and itunes syncing

Im having trouble syncing my ipod to my itunes library. I restored the Ipod back to factory specs and now when I try to sync my library back on it stops and disconnects in the middle. I have tried this with the same results about 5 times.

  • Video Podcast issue with iPod Video

    Hi
I just upgraded from 60GB photo to 80GB video and am having problems playing back some video podcasts. It plays back some but not others. The ones that don't work have audio but the video is jerky, i.e. it looks as if it is playing a still slideshow. I have checked the problem videos in iTunes and they play fine in there.
    Regards, Simon Smith

If anyone knows of an answer to this problem, I'd be grateful as well... having the same thing happen with a couple of my video podcasts as well.
    Cheers,
    Darren
