Video playback sound problem

I'm trying to use Logic to score a film, and can't get the video to playback with sound. I checked the video/movie settings and tried different sound output options, but nothing has worked. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

1. Check your Sound preference pane. See what it's set to for sound output. If not already set for "internal", change it and see if you get sound out of the computer's speaker (and make sure the volume is turned up and not muted).
2. Try extracting the audio into the Arrange window. You have two options:
Options > Movies > Extract Audio from Movie (this puts the audio file in the audio window only)
Options > Movies > Extract Audio to Arrange (this extracts the audio file as above, but puts it on the selected audio track in the Arrange window.
Post your results please!

  • ITunes Video Playback - Sound skipping

Hi - Just bought a new PC and have installed iTunes and brought over all my sound and video files to it via iPod hard disk function. Music is playing perfectly. All video playback is accompanied by terrible stuttering and spluttering of the audio. This is occuring at all times - even if iTunes is the only app running. DVD playback fantastic on PC as is video playback using other apps. Videos i'm trying to play are all under 5 minutes long and differ in type from video podcasts to Pixar content bought from itunes shop. New PC has brilliant spec so don't understand - any suggestions? All help much appreciated - regards!!

I almost have the same problem with the Video Podcast the sound is bad, For the audio only it works perfectly. At first everything was in order and worked well.
Then for no reason I got the trouble with the sound of the Video Podcast there was echoes and the quality was poor.
Cause it’s new computer I re-installed everything, so it worked well again. Then after going on a web site that uses active X for animation I got the problem back. I have no idea if Active X QuickTime are connected but each time the pattern the same.
Have tried to re-install iTunes the Quick Time I have changed the Audio option about filters in both nothing helped.

  • Qosmio G20-139 slow video playback sound ok

    Hi,
I no longer seem to be able to play video files, play DVDs, or watch TV as the playback is in slow motion but sound is ok except on the TV.
Have tried to uninstall Graphics driver but it won't let me saying something to the effect of unable to uninstall as required to boot.
Also looking into uninstalling /reinstalling Video driver but can't find what it is. Is it the same as the Graphics driver (NVIDIA Go Geforce 6600)?
This all started (i think) when i tried to use a netgear router insatllation CD but stopped it half way even though it said not to... Then whole system went incredibly slow and crashed a lot for a while (even Word, Excel and Powerpoint) but think some updates have sorted that out.. but it still doesn't seem to be able to handle too much going on at once like before... plus some site heavily using javascript have also gone ridiculously slow.
Besides using product restore CD as not to hand as moved to diff country... Any suggestions please????
    OS: Window XP MCE

The display driver and the graphic driver is the same ;) some people call it display driver and some people say graphic driver
Im not quite sure why you are not able to watch movie files properly but possibly you would need some kind of codex.
The codec can be downloaded from different pages and many packages contains different codex.
Personally Im using N K-Lite Mega Codec Pack because it contains most necessary codecs.
I think its worth a try to install it!
Furthermore I recommend cleaning the OS using the CCLeaner its free tool and I had a good experience with it

  • SOLUTION to video and sound problems

I know this seems like a very long process, but it actually doesn't take too long (at least with music videos), and it's well worth having the audio and video ligned up properly. So hope it works for you all, let me know how it goes :)
i know a lot of people around are having problems with the video and audio not being together when using converters with mpg files. i've been trying different settings all day and i've come up with the conclusion that muxed mpg files WILL NOT have the audio in sync no matter what settings you use.
HOWEVER, you can download a small, FREE program VirtualDub (which can be downloaded at http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/). (it requires NO INSTALLATION, which is brilliant)
so, once you've got this program opened:
    1. first put your muxed video into there (drag it or "file>open file")
    2. then go to "video>compression" and select "microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2" and then press "OK".
    3. after that, go to "file>save as AVI", select where you want to save it and then press OK.
NOW you have a non-muxed video file, that you can convert using any of the regular converters (Xillisoft, Videora.. etc.) Personally i use Xillisoft's IPod Video Converter, and ta da, you know have a correctly sync'ed audio and video file compatible with the ipod.
    hope it helps everyone else
    P4   Windows XP Pro
EDIT: oh yeah, and after you have your converted file using Xillisoft or Videora, you can delete the AVI file and keep the original if you want.

hmm.. ok.. well perhaps you might need the codec installed on your computer.. this is strange i thought it was default..
can you try telling me what options you do get in there? and i'll search to see if you can download it.. OR you can try just selecting another one, i think at this point it doesn't really matter which one, as long as you use one, because an uncompressed AVI is absolutly HUGE. so try another one from the list (preferabley one that says 'no known restrictions' i think) and let me know if the sound is still good after youthen convert again using videora or xillisoft

  • Video playback: sound lags

I'm having an interesting problem: I use SnapStream Beyond TV with iTunes integration to record TV shows on my computer, then watch them on my iPod or iPhone later.
Before the 2.0 update, this process worked perfectly. Now, none of my recordings play back properly. The audio track is just a tiny bit slower than the video track, and half an hour in to a show, the delay is several seconds. It's weird watching a conversation where the speakers have actually switched sides because of the delay.
Has anybody else had problems like this? I have to wonder why Apple changed a codec that was working. It's not just my BTV videos that won't work. My video camera records straight to MPEG-4, and those videos play back perfectly on my iPod Classic, but I get only audio on the iPhone.
I'm half considering downgrading back to 1.1.4, but I'm not sure if that's a smart thing to do - I could live without apps support for a while, but I had every intention of getting a 3G phone in the next few days; I'd much rather get Apple (or Snapstream) to fix the video bug.
So the question is: how do I report this to Apple, along with a sample recording, so that they can fix the codec?

I have a similar issue with my Asus K55N, I've had it for three months and it has Windows 8 as well, but I've been having issues with since I got itunes on it. For me, over a space of five minutes I get 1-3 seconds of audio lag to the video, making me have to pause it and play it to let it catch up. I've played with the playback settings for Itunes, for Quicktime, and anything else I can find to deal with video and audio settings. Even when the newest release of itunes was downloaded this weekend I am still having the issue. So I think it might be a problem with Windows 8. (maybe with more replies the Itunes support staff will find the thread with an answer.)

  • Video playback causing problems with SBLi

I have a Sound Blaster Li've! x-Gamer, and a NVidia GeForce2MX400 video card. In my old system (Win98SE, PIII) they worked great. I've installed them in a new system (XP SP2, P4), and am having problems when playing back video files or DVD's. As soon as the movie starts I get static and pops from my soundcard. I've stripped the audio from my AVI files and played them separately, both mp3 and wav and have no problem. As soon as I introduce the video to the mix, it craps out again. I've run several different players (WMP 0, NERO ShowTime), and get the same problem. It also happens during games. I have turned the hardware acceleration down on both cards with no effect. Help please!!

<OMG !! I've got the same problem (isn't the most using sentence on this forum?)
OK for serious i've got similar problem
    Now i've got: SB Audigy Platinium (model SB0090), Ati Radeon X800 XT ICEQ2 (256MB GDDR3 - rulez!), P4 3,00GHz, ,0GB RAM, motherboard Abit IC-7 v., Windows XP HE SP2.
On my old system (motherboard Albatron(intel PX865PE), XP HE SP2 or XP Me, Intel Celeron 2.0GHz, Radeon 9550) everything was alright.
What's wrong: <FONT color=#3366ff>during playing video files or DVD's (any kind of player) everything is alright until i do something with my voice volume (increase, decrease) then ofcourse sound goes increase or decrease but when i STOP, PAUSE, MOVE SLIDER FORWARD or BACKWARD on the player then my sound goes back to the volume i start watching the movie. Even when i turn off the sound and do any of actions mentioned below on my player, the sound also goes back to the volume i start watching the movie and i have to move the volume slider to the desired effect again.
Ok i can get used to it (and i almost did) but (!):
<FONT color=#3333ff>During playing mp3, wav, etc i don't have this problem with volume slider but my system boot up itself. I'm listenig the music and BUM! my computer suddenly restart (it's annoying - u know grhgrh).
I try to turn off my SB Audigy in my system properties and turn on my onboard RealTek AC'97 and everything was okey. I got this problem only with my SB Audigy. I could use my onboard RealTek AC'97 but let it face - the sound it's not so good (or maybe i'm wrong?)
<FONT color=#3300cc>Can anyone help me with this? ..::P.L.E.A.S.E::..
And one more question - no one could find answer for this question since october last year?!
    PS. Sorry for my english

  • Video playback - sound but no image

    Hi,
I'm running elements 11 (on windows 8 pro), and I noticed when I click on a video, (the thumbnail is there in organiser), and hit "play" all I get is grey screen, the timeline runs fine, theres sound, just no image.
Can anyone suggest a fix please?
    Thanks for your time

VOB's are standard MPEG streams. MP4 and MOV are not in themselves a format, but a 'wrapper' and what is encoded inside them could be anything. GoPro is notoriously poorly handled by Elements.
Even if you don't have Premiere Elements you might want to check out the Premiere Elements forum as there is a ton of material (discussions, FAQ's and Tips/Tricks) discussing formats and the way that Elements handles, or doesn't handle, various formats.
It is quite common to see people posting that the Organizer can't display video but the Editor will, AND vice-versa!

What broswer are you using and does it have the flash player plugin and silverlight updated as well as Java?? You left out alot of other info that might tell others where to look to diagnosis the problem. Also what do you mean other video? Where are those video on the computer or internet streaming? So give more details as to the sight will inform others to test where the problem is coming from.

  • Video caputure sound problem

    Hi.
When I'm importing video from my DV camera, it keep missing out the first 11 Seconds of audio. This is in fact the most important part of the video as it's the introduction. Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks!

Well I don't have another program to do it. I attempted to do so in iMovie, but the capture thing in it doesn't even detect my camera.
    iMovie is another program.
The fact that neither capture programs work means the problem is not with the programs. Your OS is not seeing the device.
Have a look at the Adobe tech support documents for optimizing your workstation in these troubleshooting tips. Failing that you will need to post in a Mac hardware forum to get help with getting your Mac to recognize your hardware.

  • HD video playback output problem

My new HVR-A1E Pal can't transfer HD video from Final Cut HD to my external monitor via iLINK . The HD video is also don't shown in the camera display.
No problems when I work in DV format and all other functions works good.
Can be a Final Cut setting problem?
    Thanks

$1000 (or euros for that matter) is DARN CHEAP for a professional editing software package. One that, out of the box, allows for the capture of DV and DVCPRO HD material, and the monitoring of such material on an external monitor.
DVCPRO HD is the only HD format (and a far superior one to HDV I might add) that you can monitor over firewire. HDV is the lowest form of HD you can work in, and also the most complex. Just like HDCAM, you cannot monitor HDV without the use of an HD capture card. Now I heard it said (in the other thread BTW) that a Standard Def Decklink card downconverts the HDV signal so that it cal play on your existing SD monitor.
HD is an EXPENSIVE format. The fact that you are able to import it in it's native format and edit it...Apple's Final Cut Pro was the first to support this, by the way...is amazing.
Before venturing into a new realm, it is wise to do a little research into the matter. I will be editing an HD Documentary in December, but I have been researching the subject since early June, and building and testing a system since early August. HD is a very new and very complex format to deal with, and the variety of formats...1080i, 1080p, 720i, 720p...HDCAM, DVCPRO HD and HDV, doesn't make it any easier.
I really don't mean to jump all over you on this, but really, getting into professional production, especially HD production, isn't an inexpensive prospect. $1000 is a drop in the bucket when you are looking at $350/hour to professionally color correct footage at a post facility.
HDV is a complex format and not easy to deal with. It is also VERY new (just over a year) , so updates and fixes will come down the pipe. But, Rome wasn't built in a day...

  • .MOD-files problem with video playback - no problems to convert dot mpg. Why?

    hi,
I wonder why I can convert *.mod files with the Adobe Media-Encoder but can not play them neither with Windows media player nor Adobe Media Player.
Does anybody know how I can play *mod-files without installing another mediaplayer?
I think playing *.MOD-files must be possible because the right codec seems to be installed on the system - otherwise the Adobe Media Encoder would not be able to convert the mod-video-file to mpg.
I also tried renaming the mod-files to mpg, mp4, mov... these 2tricks" from the web did not work.
The MOD-fils are recordings from a camera of a friend of mine. i think it is a panasonic.
    thanks a lot for help.
PS My System: I am using windows 7 pro/64. My Aodbe products: Master Collection CS5, Lightroom 4.
    All updates are installed.

one more thing that i forgot to mention: Audio is working always fine.

  • Iphone 5 video playback problems over quicktime?

ive recently got a new laptop, pre windows 8, and downloaded quicktime pro in order to play my iphone videos right side up because windows media player will play them upside down alot of the time. something i immeadiately noticed was that all my videos from my iphone 5, when played back via quicktime, have a big judder/skip in them every 2 seconds whereis all my iphone 4 videos playback no problem. the few videos i have that are recorded right side up from my iphone 5, because of orientation of the phone during recording, play perfectly fine on windows media player so this this leads me to believe it is a quicktime issue. i have updated to the latest quicktime just a few days ago with hopes of it being corrected but no such luck. im curious if anyone else is having this same problem or knows a fix? also if anyone knows how to flip videos with quicktime so i can just watch them on windows media would be great also. i found a write up how to do it but everytime i try it, after i save it it just reverts back to its orgional orientation. thanks for any help, Jamie

Add me to the list of people having this problem.
I'm running Macbook on 10.5.8. Quicktime is 7.6.9, in case this has any bearing on things.
OK......I just searched a few places and came up with this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perian
It's called Perian, and it's one of a few different options you could use to solve this problem....I just installed it (free), and now the videos play without a hitch. It's a plug-in for Quicktime.  There are others that can supposedly do the same thing--look around and give it a shot.
(Also, supposedly this Perian is no longer in open development, and may not work with the newest Quicktime update for the newest Macs, but, like I said, there are other options out there that may work for you instead.)
I have a feeling my problem may have been due to my particular Quicktime/Macbook setup being a bit outdated, but who knows?
    Good luck!

  • I just moved my itunes library from a win 7 computer to a win 8.1 computer. Getting an error message "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. Can't play CDs or get audio file from web!

Help! I just moved my itunes library from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8.1 computer following the instructions on the itunes website. Everything is good except I'm getting an error message on the Win 8 computer if I try to play a CD or get an audio file off of the internet. I get an error message that says "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. I don't know where to look for or fix the audio configuration on the win 8 computer. As far as I can tell the iTunes configuration looks the same as on the other computers in the house. At this point I don't dare plug my ipod touch into the Win 8 computer for fear it will get messed up.

I have the same problem and I know that it is due to my PCI Audio driver not being compatible with WIndows 8.1.
iTunes isn't the only program that can't direct sound to the built-in speakers anymore. The obvious solution would be to update the drivers, but unfortunately Dell does not provide an updated driver for my model, so I am stuck with that.
However, saying that, only my laptop speakers are affected by this. I can use sound fine on applications where I can choose the output device and direct sound to the head phones, but for some reason iTunes does not let you choose the audio device manually.
To listen to music I imported the iTunes Library in Windows Media Player and changed the audio output using the following instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11ba
However, I would also like to rent movie's from iTunes,
Would be great if iTunes would let you choose the output device, too, like most other applications using sound  from Skype to Windows Media Player,...

  • Problem with mac os x lion audio mute and web video playback

    I have a 15" MacBook Pro I7
Strangest thing started happening ever since I installed Adobe Masters Collection Trial Version CS6.
Randomly, and I can pinpoint exactly when, all of a sudden I will loose my sound.  The muting goes off and I can't get it back on again no matter what I try.  Then I loose web-video playback.  Nothing will playback beyond 11 seconds.  I followed all the support community advice on how to handle this situation with no luck.  Resetting the SCM does nothing.  The ONLY way I can fix it is with a re-install of Mac OS X Lion!  I've reinstalled twice (fixed the problem both times) but the problem just keeps coming back.
I'm guessing it's a software issue of somesort but I'm not exactly sure what the problem is or how to fix it.  Any advice?

Slight Update. I found a guy with my EXACT problem here.  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4103108?start=0&tstart=0  Go to this discussion for further details.

Recently, when I watch video on i tunes that sound and picture to not match up. Sound seems to be on-time but the picture is jerky and behind. I un-installed my video driver and reinstalled.
