Video playback stops and starts

I've never had this problem before but since I wiped my 5th Gen (late 2006) iPod Video and put new content on it the video playback keeps freezing for a second and then continuing. Most of the time the audio keeps going but sometimes they both stop and start again. It's very annoying. I don't see anyone else in this forum complaining about this. Am I the only one?
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this?

What codec is applied in Sequence > Settings?
Where are the source footage and render files located on your computer?
Version of FCS, Mac OS X and QuickTime?

Try to download the application VLC.
It is a media player that should be able to play any audio or video file you may have. If your videos play flawlessly using that application, then the issue is with iTunes and Quicktime, as they are both essentially similar software types when it comes to playing media.
In that case you may need to install a plug-in file called Perian, in order for the videos to play correctly within iTunes or at least Quicktime...

The video action stop and starts momentarily at random

dell xps 8500 running windows 8.1. Purchased march 2013. 8 gb ram 1 tera bit hd. Amd radeon video card 1 gb ram, video card was tested by dell twice. Refreshed the whole computer, reinstall everything fresh. All drivers Bios updated. Playing a game: zuma revenge, the action stops and starts randomly. This is the reason why i went thru a complete refresh. Problem still exists. help please.

Potentially unsafe versions of the Java plugin are "Click to Play" blocked, meaning that you have to click to activate Java for each site. See the [[How to enable Java if it's been blocked]] article for more information.

My PC npotebook is not a year old ands since day 1 the video's stop and start and or choppy.

I will call HP perhaps, but thought maybe others had the same problem..

Typically they work OK until:
- They break because of misuse like dropping
- The battery dies
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Video playback stops and refuses to load.

I have F/F 27.0, Flash 12.0, and the WinVista OS. The modem lights also show no activity when this occurs.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Stops and starts in video streaming from iphone to tv using apple tv and airplay.Both devices have latest software and are capable.

When try to stream content (specifically, videos from Acorn.com) to my TV through my apple TV from my iphone 5,The video freezes, stops and starts continually, even though it is playing smoothly on the screen of my iphone. both iphone, Apple TV are capable models and have latest software updates.

Not necessarily, but right now you don't have a stable network and there are a lot of factors that can compromise that. I didn't say ethernet was the only option, again you can get a report of your network to see the status. Would have to change things in order to strengthen the wifi signal (i.e. router location, channel,placement of ATV etc). I am running on wireless without issue, same as most users, and if you took it to a controlled environment (like Apple) you would see similar results.

Are you trying to watch YouTube from a web browser on iPad or from the YouTube app?
Should be running fine from the YouTube app on the iPad unless you have a slow connection.
Our family uses DSL (4-5 Mbps) and we stream video both with iPads, computers and TV with,mostly, no issues like buffering or data degradation/pixellation. It all depends on how much traffic there is on the Internet at any one specific time.
Heavy Internet traffic on different days at different hours of the day, from your ISP, can also be a factor in slowing down your Internet connection.

Buffered videos stop and start

I am trying to watch online video and tv. The video streaming stops and starts. It can be youtube, vimeo, or a television show online -- same poor result. I have a very slow connection. Knowing this, I always wait for the video to buffer -- there is always a greyed buffered bar well ahead of where I am watching. The video still stops and starts. Is this a connection issue or something else? Thanks.

T1 that is brutally slow, but I had hoped that despite how slow the connection is, the buffering would eventually get it downloaded. So even though its buffering, the slow T1 can still make the videos stop and start?

Videos stopping and starting.

YYou tube and sky go stopped working properly from one day to the next. The videos stop and start every two minutes. There is a spinning icon next to the wifi icon when this happens. Why?

Well, ipad 1 has not got the best wifi. Your iPad may be lagging (because it's old) and can't cope with video playback. maybe it's time for a better ipad?

I've got a fast computer w/plenty of ram. I can watch videos from all other sources perfectly smooth, including Quicktime HD movie trailers.
When I try to watch a video in iTunes it slows my computer down so much that besides the videos stopping and starting, my mouse won't even move smoothly.
It worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.

One reason is that your internet connection is not fast enough to keep up with the video. You may find that when it gets to the end of the video and has fully downloaded, it will replay without stopping.

Do a Speedtest, you need at least 4Mbps to stream nicely.

Sounds like they are buffering because your internet speed is way to slow.
To check your internet speed, go to: > Speakeasy Speed Test
or > Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Plus you can also check your internet speed using the Activity Monitor, which is in your Utilities Folder.

Why can I not watch a video all the way thru without it stopping and starting, & freezing?

I like to go to abc or cbs pbs etc. and watch their videos but they do

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
