Video playlists show up in music playlists!

I originally had the problem where my music playlists were showing up in my video playlists section of the ipod along with my 2 video playlists (movies and tv shows). I have finally solved THAT issue by putting 'tv shows' or 'movies' in the comments section of all my videos, then went to my smart music playlists and put the following condition: "comment does not include 'tv shows' or 'movies'). Boom, this keeps my music playlists out of my video playlists and now my video playlists only have 'tv shows' and 'movies.'
HOWEVER, my 2 video playlists are showing up in my MUSIC playlists now, with nothing in the playlist, just the names of them (tv shows and movies). This is ANNOYING!
i have gone to itunes ipod preferences and excluded these 2 playlists from the music playlist sync, but there's STILL showing up on the ipod.
Can anyone help?

Please help!

  • Video podcast shows up as music podcast

when i downloaded the video podcast off itunes music store,on the itune it shows up as video but in my ipod it wont show up as a video but shows up as musics as in i cant see anything but i can still hear sounds.Does anyone knwo how i can get the podcast to show up as video? and where i can find it?

Is it showing up under Videos-->video podcasts?
If you access it through the music section of the iPod (music-->podcasts), it will not play the video.
If you are accessing it through videos-->video podcasts and it still only plays audio, try this.
    Go to videos-->video settings-->TV Out-->off

  • Photo slideshow doesnt show all my music playlists

I was setting up my apple tv to strem a phot slide show.  When I select default music it goes to a screen that allows you to pick the playlist you want.  Not all of my playlists show up on this screen.  I have 8 playlists in itunes but only 6 show up in apple tv.  Any ideas?

Maybe it's because you are in the UK but since I have had a few ipod products and therefore been using iTunes for a few years my "defaults" are not the same as yours. For example, the "defaults" in my iTunes (the ones that are there if my nano is plugged in or not) were "Recently Added" & "Music Videos". And yes, they are purple in color because Smart Playlists are purple (this is also true for the ones you create. It is the regular playlists that you create that are blue in color). Now, that we have just what you are referring to cleared, these defaults you are referring to, the ones that were there automatically when you first loaded iTunes will not be on your iPod unless you put them there. You can drag the playlist to your ipod and then they will be there. Other than that they will not automatically be there and therefore will not automatically sync. Now since you have not stated whether you actually put those defaults on your ipod in the first place or if you are saying they just didn't automatically go on the ipod my response above was given. Sorry if you feel like my asking for clarification is something I shouldn't need to do but if I can't get a clear picture of what you are saying then I can't begin to attempt to offer help. If this is something that you do not agree with then my apologies. Hopefully someone else will be willing to come in and help you more if my attempt was useless.
    Good luck

  • Loaded itunes onto a new pc. none of my  playlists show. all my music is there, but my previously created playlists are not.

I loaded iTunes onto a new computer.  All of my music shows up, but none of my playlists show (ex. Rudys Shuffle, Rudys Nano, Purchased, etc.). What do I have to do to get these playlists back?  Thank you.

What procedure did you follow to move the content from your old computer to the new one?

  • My video also shows up under music...

I just bought The Waterboy and it shows up under videos just fine and it works and everything but if I go to music I can turn it on in music folder it plays as if it is a music file I can watch it in both sideways modes and the normal mode which is also kind of odd. Just wondering how to fix it. Thanks.

I've been completely unable to find any info on if the movie is supposed to go under music playlist any help?

  • Video Podcasts show up as Music

    Here is my problem:
I downloaded a couple video podcasts from iTMS and copied them to my ipod. They play fine in iTunes, but on my ipod they dont show up anywhere in the video section, only in the music section. When I 'get info' within iTunes they both show as 'Movie' in the Movie Kind field. I am using iTunes version 6.0.2.23 (Windows), Cd Driver 2.0.43, Cd Driver DLL 2.0.3.2, Ipod Video 30G, Version 1.0.
    Now for some additional info...
When I am transfering the video to the ipod, I am doing this manually because I use both my home and work machines with my ipod.
Here are some things I have tried:
I first attempted to download the video podcasts using iTMS on my work machine with the result being that the videos showing up under my music and not showing up under video anywhere.
I downloaded a video (not using iTMS) on my work machine and then imported it into the library and then manually copied it to my ipod and it worked just fine.
I attempted to 'Convert The Selection For Ipod' within iTunes (again work machine) for the iTMS downloaded video podcasts and it tells me that the files were not converted because they are already in the correct format. I am wondering if the problem is somehow related to the fact that these files have been downloaded through the podcast subscription? I cant see any reason why, but just throwing some things out there.
I attempted to download the video podcasts using iTMS on my home machine with the same results. As a last effort at this time, I tried the transfer again, and left it to transfer overnight.
Using a different computer (not work or home) I rebuilt Windows XP Pro from scratch. The only thing installed was service pack 2, then installed the same version of iTunes (6.0.2.23) and had a slightly different experience. One of the podcasts in questions did the exact same thing, that is showing up under music and no video playing. The other podcast however ended up showing up and played fine. Now my problem is I dont know if the new machine transferred it correctly or if it was transferred correctly from my home machine the night before (I overlooked checking it before attempting the transfer on the new machine.) I have since then attempted to transfer the problem file on the new machine and it failed again.
Now, has anyone managed to experience and resolve this issue? I know that I should update the ipod to 1.1 and try again, but since I have read about all of the problems with video on the new version I am a little hesitant to do that. Anyone have any suggestions on what ot try next, or am I going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade the ipod?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob
Ipod Video 30G Version 1.0   Windows XP Pro

OK, tried some new things, here is the latest update:
I went ahead and bit the bullet, upgraded to 1.1. Deleted the video files from the music section of the ipod and then attempted to manually transfer the files. Still, the same symptoms occured.
Next step, performed a restore on the ipod (using the latest updater (thus retaining version 1.1), then set the ipod to sync with itunes on the work machine. Videos uploaded fine, show up in the Videos section and even play as videos on the ipod! Now we are getting somewhere.
Once I arrived home, I plugged the ipod into my home machine, told it yes, that I wanted to delete the content and attach the ipod to itunes on my home machine. Once all my music downloaded to the ipod, I subscribed to the video podcasts, they downloaded, then I synced the ipod, and they show up in the video section and play as videos. Everything seems to work fine!
My next step will be to disable auto sync and manually add some video podcasts to the ipod and see if it will function then. I will update the thread once that is complete.

  • Contents of Playlists - Show in Entire music library?

    Hi
Quite a simple thing, but explaining it may prove complicated, but here goes...
I have quite a few thousand tunes in my entire library now, I also have many playlists. What I would like to be able to do is click on a playlist then click on my entire music library and have one of the columns show the tunes that are in the playlist I just previously clicked on.
This would enable me to be able to scan through my entire library and see immediately what tunes were in the playlist I previously selected. This would make it very easy to find any tunes I had missed, or wanted to add to that particular playlist.
I hope that makes sense. I cannot see any way of doing this at the moment, but for those of us with large music libraries it would be an absolute godsend. Perhaps Apple would consider adding this functionality.
In the meantime does anyone know of a workaround other than the obvious way of blindly going through the entire music library again and adding tracks only to be told by a message box that the tracks were already in the playlist and did I want to skip the duplicated tracks.
    Cheers
    Jem

Compared to anything else we could suggest, that is pretty darn efficient! In older versions of iTunes, you did not even get that warning.
If you want to see everything that is not in PlaylistA, you can make a new playlist with the rule "Playlist" "is not" "PlaylistA" and it will show everything that is not in PlaylistA, which will make it easier to scan as you wish, and then drag what you want into PlaylistA.
Hope that helps. If you want to make an official suggestion to Apple, you can use their feedback page.

  • Audible book showing up in music playlist

I downloaded audible books and they correctly showed up in the audiobook file. However, they are showing up in my 'Songs' list on my Ipod. When I connect my ipod to my Mac/Itunes, it does not show the audio book in the wrong place but if I am playing songs on Ipod, when it comes to the audio book, it starts playing the book. I want to know how to get the audiobook out of the song list.

Thanks for that! Shame there isn't also an option to label TV shows as TV shows because I've been converting some Elgato EyeTV recordings for the iPod.

  • Video files show up as music files?!?!

My 5th Gen 30GB ipod Video has around 30 video files in it. When I plugged it into computer today (with iTunes installed) to charge it, after a few hours when I unplugged it, all the video files were gone! I found them all under the music section of my ipod. When I play them, only the very first pixel/clip shows up in a small icon( where the album usually is for music) and plays the audio only. This isnt the first time it has happend either, last time I had to delete all the vid files and reupload them onto my iPod. This time they are still in there, anyone have any idea on how to fix this? This is extremely frustrating! Thanks for your help in advance!

I have this same problem. But, the videos are not on my computer. My boyfriend put them on from his laptop, but lent it to his friend. The friend will have his laptop until this weekend, and I really do not want to wait that long. If anyone has a quick solution, I would really appreciate it.

  • Why do some video files show up under music, & some under movies?

I ordered a CD off of iTunes that included bonus material, 4 of which were videos. 3 were music videos, 1 an interview with the artist. The 3 music videos show up at the end of the album in the music part of iTunes, the interview video shows up seperately under movies. Is there any way to manipulate this, so all the videos can be in one place, be it under movies, or music?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to help me out here.

Right click the file and then click get info, go to the options tab, there should be a box which says media type: change this to the option you want.

  • Is there a way to make a "music" playlist that contains videos? for iCruze

    Hello,
I just purchase a 5th generation iPOD video to replace an old 15GB iPOD in my wife's car. The old iPOD has worked wonderfully in my wife's car, playing audio (MP3s) with an iCruze interface to the factory stereo.
In case you haven't heard of iCruze, essentially it has a little box that interfaces to the factory stereo just like a CD changer. I can load up to 10 playlists in my iPOD (labeled 1 - 10), and then I can select them, FF, REW, etc using the factory stereo. There is also a seperate LCD module that plugs into the iCruze that shows the artist and song name from the iPOD.
Although the iCruze is a little quirky, it does a pretty good job by allowing us to select songs I want to use via the factory stereo.
So, I got a great idea. I figured I would create a new playlist with videos, and plug the video cable into the DVD player, and be able to watch DVDs from the iPOD. No more scratched DVDs, no more losing disks, etc.
Anyway, it appears the video playlists don't work with the iCruze. I created 1 playlist with just videos, but the iCruze can't see it. It can see the other 8 that just have music and play them just fine. If I manually select the movie on the iPOD, the video displays on the DVD screen, too, so I am almost there, I think...
So, does anyone know of a way to "trick" my iPOD into making a music playlist that contains videos? I tried renaming an MP4 video to MP3, but iTunes said it couldn't play the file.
    Any suggestions would be welcome...

Playlists are shown under Music > Playlists or within the sidebar. Click once on a playlist name to select it and click again to start editing the text of the name, the text will become higlighted with the cursor flashing at the right hand end. It's not part of the edit playlist rules dialog, or a menu option.

  • Podcasts missing from Music Playlists

Front Row playlists used to show the same tracks as iTunes playlists, but in Leopard, Front Row fails to show podcast episodes in playlists. I just installed iTunes 8.0 and Front Row 2.1.6 on OSX 10.5.5, and the problem persists. What is the best workaround to let podcasts show up in Front Row playlists?
This question has been asked in other forums without reply, so I am hoping someone in the Front Row forum can address it:

Here's my workaround in iTunes 8, but it's kludgy and only works for audio podcasts:
    1. Set "Preferences > General > Import Settings..." to something sensible (I like MP3 / 16kbps mono / 11.025 kHz for small files and MP3-CD compatibility, you may prefer higher quality).
    2. Change "Podcast / is true" to "Genre / is / Podcast" in all smart playlists (right-click a smart playlist name, select "Edit Smart Playlist").
    3. Open a playlist with podcasts you want to work with Front Row. Use shift-click, option-click, or cmd-A to select all podcast episodes in the playlist.
    4. In the Advanced menu, select Create MP3 Version or Create AAC Version (as set in prefs). Wait for iTunes to rip copies of each item.
    5. To remove doubles from smart playlists, delete the originals from the main Podcast list or add "Podcast / is false" to smart playlists.
    6. Select the playlist from Front Row > Music > Playlists. It should now have your podcasts.
    7. Tell Apple you need Front Row to show podcasts in playlists again.

    Is there a better way?

I eventually noticed that when I plugged in the iPod, the sync preferences for Podcasts were set to something "odd" - they are now set to include ALL episodes of ALL podcasts.
Even so, they remain missing from any playlist, however, they are available on the iPod from the podcast menu.
The only way I've got the podcasts to appear in a playlist on the iPod was to do Get Info > Options > Media Kind change to Music (instead of Podcast). Then it all works OK.
iTunes 8 showed no such problems.

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

  • Music Playlist shows video playlists - iPod BUG. IS IT JUST ME?

I have the 160GB ipod classic. I have several video playlists set up (to manage music videos, other movies, etc.). When I select "music" from the main menu, then select "playlists" to pull up my music playlists as set up on iTunes, I see all of my video playlists listed and they show "0 SONGS" under the playlist name, obviously because they are not supposed to have songs and only have videos. When I click on the video playlist from this menu, the ipod hangs on a white screen (forever!) until I press menu to return the music playlist menu... Is it just me or is this one of the many continued bugs that the iPod classic still has even after the 1.0.2 software update?
APPLE - PLEASE FIX THIS BUG WITH THE OTHERS AND RELEASE 1.0.3 SOFTWARE ASAP!!!

I did realize that I also have a "music videos" (smart) playlist that shows all music videos. Since these have songs in them, they are listed also...

  • Possible to have video playlists NOT show up in the music playlists tab?

I like how when I go to videos > video playlists, my iPod will show only the playlists that contain only movies and music videos inside.
Is it possible to have it so that the video-only playlists are parsed from the music > playlists tab? That section is cluttered enough as it is, and having empty playlists inside really doesn't help.
Also, anyone have tips for managing large amounts of songs? Since I have a lot of one-hit-wonders, the artist and album tabs has gotten populated with 1-song artists and 1-song albums, making it a pain for browsing through in search of whole albums.
Maybe I could put a symbol around the artist or album to make it higher or lower in the alphabet. From what I've seen, it goes symbols, numbers, then letters. Is there anything I can use to sort alphabetically in iTunes to be below the letter z?

I just remembered something; japanese characters (letters) are sorted by iTunes below the letter z. Accented characters (such as ö) get sorted next to their regular (o is higher than ö).
And so, I think I will go through and find all the albums and artists that only have one song to them and rename them using a japanese character so that they appear at the bottom of the album and artist lists. Should make looking through those much easier.
I would still like an answer to my first question.
