Video pocast no sound
I recently posted up my first video series on iTunes. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/retro-rumble-season-1/id502409270
Problem is when I play these videos in itunes I get no sound. My source files (mov) work just fine on my PC.
If I download them from Itunes and play them they work fine as well, seems to only be a problem with the player in iTunes.
Any ideas? Would anyone else mind double checking in their player just to see. Thanks.
I played your latest episode from the Store page; I subscribed and played it in iTunes; I dragged the episode to the Desktop and played it i QuickTime X player; I pasted the URL of the media file into Safari and played it there; I downloaded the file from the feed in FireFox and played it in QuickTime X.
In all cases there was no sound.
Then I played it in the QuickTime 7 player, and the sound played OK. The soundtrack is 48kHz sampling rate AAC - I can't see why that would be an issue.
I can't explain this one except that it does explain why Windows is playing it - it's obviously using QuickTime 7. I can only suggest you ask in the QuickTime Forum: give them the URL of the file:

Is it possible to export a video withouth the sound?
I cut a video, inported music, turned of the original sound from original movies (import from camera) and there is still backgroundnoise from the original videos, not only the music. I have m4v files that have subtitles and sound options they play fine on my computer in itunes and but when i watch them on my apple tv there is video but no sound ... why ? all my other videos are fine and they in mp4 format.
Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

I just put Facetime on my MacBook and Ipad. I can connect and recieve video but no sound. The other person can hear me. If I use Skype everything works fine. I can't find any where in Facetime to change settings for the audio. Any suggestions
Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:

I have a apple component AV TV out cable (red, green,blue + red,white) and have had this connected to TV for about 6 months working fine. I moved the TV disconnected cables to move now I can only get video and no sound back on TV. Any suggestions ?

I'm on OS X 10.6.8 and have a .mov file which plays on QuickTime 10.0 but with choppy video and the sound is out of sync???? File details are Video Codec: DNxHD (AVdn) Resolution 1920x1080 Audio Codec: PCM S24 BE (in24) Bitrate: 1536kb/s. Any ideas?

I'm not a whiz but i converted the videos like i'm supposed to and they play fine on itunes, but on my ipod i get video and no sound. how do i fix that?
Well, you may be playing the "fine" video file in iTunes, and not the converted one; that may be confusing the situation. Anyway, what did you use to convert the file, and what is the file's original format?

So i have some Tv show on my MacBook, and when i go to watch them there is video but no sound. Quicktime prompts me that i need to download a codec but not which one. Which onw do i need?
Tried that, it said i needed DivX, but i already have that. What else could i use?Try watching it in VLC. If it plays, check the audio info and see if it is more specific. What is the file extension -- .divx or .avi? What DivX component do you have installed? Do you have Mac "non-native" audio support (like AC3) installed? Until you can supply more information, I can only guess at possibilities for you to check and evaluate. You might also try opening the file in a conversion application like FFmpegX and see if he A/V formats are recognized/convertable to a fully supported QT compression format. As a last resort, consider a "rule of thumb here" -- if a format doesn't work, don't support its use.

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

Show no video but has sound what do I need to do to fix this?
Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

Got the video, but no sound...
I had videos I wanted to put on my ipod, but, the file couldn't be read, so I had to convert the songs so my ipod could read it, but it seems that when I play the video... the images come... but not the sound... I have no idea what to do, some help would be appreciated.
ps: it plays normal songs no prob, thx alot.QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.

i just got my replacement ipad last night. when i got home and tried the applications, there is no sound. but the videos do have sounds. i already checked the settings. i cannot find what's causing it. please help.
You may have already checked the settings, but it still sounds like you have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

Found the fix.
If the reboot doesn't fix it.
If the headphoens work find, but no external speakers.
If the double-click and page right to the software mute, doesn't show the sound knob - just the brightness
If your pop-up shows "Docking Station"
Then, the problem is very likely a dirty connector. The iPad/iPhone/iPod connector uses a resistor value to determine if the device is connected to an external 'speaker'. There are a range of resistances, for a range of products. This is known as the Connector Pin 21 issue.
Take some windex on a que-tip, or perhaps a Windex paper scrub and rub it on the bottom connector port. Somehow, "something" has gotten on those contacts, and it is pulling the voltage on pin #21 down - so that the iPad "thinks" it's connected to an external speaker - this will disable the internal speaker circuitry, as well as the internal speaker volume controls.
Do not over-saturate and short out your iPad. Do not throw it in the sink, do not use the kitchen faucet to flush it out. A Que-tip with a few drops of Windex (or other gentle cleaner) should work just fine. Takes all of 30 seconds - and magically, the volume knob appeared and everything worked just fine. -
