In the process of deploying our Digital Media Manager, Video Portal and Digital Signage. Have a few generic questions and I don't see an appropriately titled group here where to ask. I will post here and hope for the best.
1. Is there a forum, distro list dedicated to Cisco's digital media products such as Media Manager, Video Portal and Signage?
2. I have a 7825-H3 with two 160GB SATA HD for my Video Portal. How are these drives used by the system? Mirrored? In Media Manager I only see 146 GB available so I assume the system is mirrored which is why I don't see the second drive?
3. Do most people store the video content to be delievered via the video portal locally on the portal appliance or is the norm or best practice to store the data elsewhere and link to it?
Thanks for your time. Here is a link for the User Guide for Cisco Video Portal 5.0 follow the guide it may help you

Office 365 Video Portal can I lock this down to be viewable only at the office?
So I'm rolling out a corporate Intranet using the Office 365 SharePoint Sites and wanted to host training videos on it through the Video portal. However we do not want anyone viewing these videos offsite. Is there anyway I can lock these down to only show on domain authenticated machines? Or by IP? Would love to use this tool but need to make sure it can only be used at the office.
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks CommunityHi Aby
Thanks for a quick reply.
Example of the requirement: "Difference should appear as unassigned (-ve or ve) at the same level"
(Level 1) Product X has planned Qty 1000
(Level 2) The Qty 1000 for product X is distributed to three sales offices using previous year sales contribution. Sales Office A get 400, B get 300 and C Get 300.
Now if user executes a planning function (at Level 2) "Increse the Sales Office A by 10%" then Sales Office A gets 440 units. The total planned quantity for product X become 1040. So the unassigned quantity at this level should be -40. In this way the product X palanned quantity at Level 1 will not change and user knows that he has to adjust this -40 in other sales offices.
Hope this clears the requirement. -
Problem of access to the video portal after updating Internet Explorer
After performing the upgrade in internet explorer (version 7 to 8), some
users are having trouble viewing the video portal. I need help for verify to see what is
happening.
Product ID: DMM5.0-BASE-K9
Version ID: V5.0Hi Gerson,
IE 8 came out after the DMS 5.0 version was released, so it's not officially supported. For other people with similar issues, using "Compatibilty view" for the video portal page allowed them to access and use video portal without a problem.
For a more permanent solution, you will have to upgrade your DMS system to 5.2 or later.
I hope this helps

Is drag to drop songs or videos still present in itunes. When i updated itunes i couldn't drag and drop any song or videos pls help.
It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3784647?start=0&tstart=0
If necessary, post the resultings numbers and we can verify what the next steps to take.

hi
I am trying to get Video Portal up and running. I have installed DMM and have succesfully deployed content to various DMP's around the network. I would like to get video portal working. I have installed and integrated into DMM and the replication status says GOOD. I have installed the license file as well. When I then go to the DMM web pages and click on the video portal page. It takes me to another DMM login pages. Looks slightly differnent but I cant login
No matter how many time i install and what usernames i try it wont accept them. Doen anyone have the same issues or any advice.
Thanks
PaulI am just going through my documentation trying to help.
The AAI username is: admin
The VPM username is: superuser
I know for sure my current password is "Cisco123!" it is case sensitive obviously. But it looks like when I set the system up in the AAI it prompted me for a new admin password. So this would not be the default that it came with. Also my AAi and VPM use the same password but different usernames.
There is a special note for when logging into the VPM from the DMM. It states that the DMM-VPM4.1 will not be accessible if DMM's IP address is not configured in DNS. Have you updated dns? recheck the names.
Also it states that when you click on the VPM4.1, the URL will be the host name configured in AAI, even if you access DMM using IP address. So make sure that all of these host devices have been fully updated in dns, verify with nslookup.
One other tip I can give you is that I had alot of issues during setup and deployment because all of the systems were not sync with ntp. Once they were sync'd everything ran alot smoother.

DMM -- Video Portal Setup issue
Hello,
I'm working with V5.0 of Video Portal but I had some troubles with the set up once I took the equipment to my customer's facilities to give them a demo. So I found out that the best way to carrect that is restoring servers to defaults. DMM appliance has a recovery CD but VP appliance does not. I already restored DMM but I can not do the same with VP and I am still having some issues.
I would appreciate if somebody has some suggestion.
Thanks
Roberto Guzmán.To rectify this issue follow the steps :
Step 1 Log in, select DMM_Control, then press Enter.
Step 2 To restore DMM, select RESTORE_DMM, press Enter, then do one of the following:
To restore from a backup on a USB drive, select USB, then press Enter.
To restore from a backup on a video portal appliance, select VIDEO_PORTAL, then press Enter. -
Video Portal and blinking dots?
I've tried and tested everything I know to and whenever I publish content in DMM it does come up in the video portal. Instead what I see is dots that repeatingly blink in sequence as if the video is unavailable.
When I launch the DMM and reference the test option and launch the portal through the DMM link it seems to work just fine.
I have a deadline to meet by next week and have beat this to death with things that I know. Any direction or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Blindf8thTo schedule the content for DMP playback, you will need to useDMM-DSM under PUBLISHER->scheduler
Now click on the Publisher tab and select the Scheduler option to launch your DMM scheduler tool.
a. The DMM will automatically show your default ACNS channel for your signage content.
b. From the Applications drop down list, select your Digital Signage media play lists.
c. From the DMP Groups select the DMP group you would like to play your Digital Signage play list on.
d. Select how often you would like the play lists (or other Digital Signage content) to play.
e. Finally, select your "from" time and "to" time for the content to display on your DMPs.
f. Click on the Add Task button to add your created schedule to your Digital Signage schedule.
g. Repeat for additional Digital Signage content as desired.
h. Click on the Save button to save your schedule.
i. Once you have built and saved your schedule, click on the Publish button to generate your play list and manifest files for your DMPs and CDM. -
Hi,
I am having DMS 5.1.
I have configured the videos on VP. User can successfully access the VP and able to play the respective videos.
On VP, user is getting an option to download the video. But user is not able to download it.
Need help to resolve this.
Regards,
NimitNimit,
Try the following steps :-
1) Log in the DMM
2) Click Video Portal
3) Click Programs -->Add a New Program -->Name the Program -->Select VOD / Live Event -->Save
4) Now Navigate to the Program --> Click the "+" sign to add video part --> Fill out the Video Description --> On the next screen click on the Folder icon --> Click Add Video Part --> Browse the Video file if it is a VOD (or else populate appropriate fields for Live Event) -->Save
5) The next screen (Video Portal » '' Videos » '>' Video Part » Part #1 Active Related Items ) should say " Part #1 has been added." -->Click on Folder Icon again --> Add New Related Item.
You will be prompted with 4 options as follows :-
- (Download ) Files for end users to download
- (Web Link in New Default Browser) URL opens in a standard browser
- (Web Link in New Default Browser)URL opens in a customized browser
- (Related Videos) Link to another video offering in the library
6) Select "Download" option --> Browse your Video file again -->Save
7) Click Deployment --> Schedule Immediately --> Create Deployment
8) Once the deployment completes --> Launch the instance of the Video Portal --> Play the Video
9) On the top right corner of the Video Screen you will notice "Video Info" --> Click on it --> Click Downloads tab --> You should see the video there.
Note : The all the Images, logos, preview videos, sound clips are stored on the location specified under Deployment Locations (Video Portal --> Setup -->Deployment Locations --> Support) Make sure the FTP Test passes for the FTP server and Root URL Path Exits (HTTP URL) - Try putting the URL in the Web browser and see if the directory listing shows all the content.
The process does look involved but it is not all that complex - Significant changes has been made to the Video Portal in the 5.2 and 5.2.1 release - It is now called Show and Share and is very user friendly. Hope this helps for now.

Cisco DMS Video portal embedded script
I am trying to edit embedded script so that video auto starts in web page. I have tried to insert param name="autoStart" value="true" but that does not work. Cisco TAC says not supported. Anyone get this to work?
Not Supported. Embedding video in a web page is not doable with the current version of the video portal. Look for an upgrade coming late this year that will give you this capability I believe.

Hello all,
i got a issue with my video portal appliance. when i try to make a deployment i get an error, im put this attachment with the Error Screen. I will appreciate your help.
Thanks in Advance.
Robert. The first clue is the error itself. Check to see that you have configured
the "DEPLOYMENT LOCATION" settings in the Video Portal-> Setup -> Deploy Locations
admin page.
The publishing location for all content should be an external
media server of some sort as documented here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/video/digital_media_systems/5_x/5_0/dmm/user/guide/crconoff.html#wp1104317
Although it's true that you can push content to the video portal (usually for demos)
hosting the content on the Video Portal itself is NOT a Recommended or
TAC Supported Solution. With that said, the SFTP username is 'vpsftp' for
the video portal and the password is the same as the AAI password for
the 'admin' user.
"For DEMO purposes only:"
Here's a sample of directory configuration that is often
used in demos. Please note that the directory 'cisco'
is the Video Portal "Instance name" and can be changed
to match your specific instance:

in Adobe Connect.
THE PROBLEM
============
If you currently use Presenter then you already know that it
has some serious limitations when it comes to using video. Slide
based video must be in SWF format encoded using the old Sorenson
codec. That means your video files must completely load before they
start playing. This leads to long wait times for users; want to
play a 5 minute video? Expect a 2-3 wait time while the movie
loads. Forget longer content like training videos.
The video's dimensions are also limited as quality degrades
quickly at large sizes.
Adobe will tell you to put streaming flash video in the
presenter panel but this area is tiny and still uses the old codec.
You cannot pause, rewind and fast-forward the content and what
about if your show runs without the presenter panel showing?
If you update your presentation frequently, expect long wait
times as the video files are embedded and must be uploaded to the
server each time you make a change.
THE SOLUTION
=============
RefinedVideo is a complete solution to these issues as it
allows you to play high-quality video in fullscreen resolution with
no waiting. Use streaming FLV format using On2 VP6 compression to
provide higher quality at lower bandwidth with almost no wait times
in most cases.

All the Best,
TerryAhh, if only that were entirely true!
While you're correct that you can embed flash in your
Presenter files, it's still not possible to use the latest On2 VP6
codecs which is what you need to do if you want high quality large
size video files. Using the Sorenson codec which is what would be
required by your suggestion, means that the video tends to be quite
pixillated and limited to a small frame size, otherwise you end up
with lots of buffering delays.
Our solution allows you to run fullscreen video of unlimited
length from within Presenter and it works in self-paced
presentations and meeting room environments too.
On the issue of posting information about a product on a
Forum, my understanding of the concept of a forum is that it's a
place for the exchange of ideas and solutions. This forum is
located under the menu item of "Communities" on the Adobe site and
many people come here looking for ways to solve problems and
exchange ideas.
I've had numerous people contact me saying they have been
looking for exactly this type of solution but have been unable to
find it. It's only spam to you because you have no need for the
solution but to those looking for a way to deliver specific types
of training content, it's exactly what they came to the Forum to
find.
It's not my intent to offend, only to raise awareness.
Thanks for listening,

The Presenter add in opens up just fine. I can do most everything with the Presenter tool bar, including recording and publishing audio for the slides, but I get an error message when trying to use the "Video" recording function. I have a screen shot of the error message if that would help, But is basically says the "Application encountered and internal Error. If the error persists, contact someone." Adobe support is useless on this issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
I DO NOT have two monitors set up and the button labeled "Use Presenter View" is unchecked.Check that your video drivers are up to date.

Embedded videos from Presenter won't play/sync
I have a couple embedded videos in a PPT that I've published from Presenter to Adobe Connect. When I get to the slide with the video in the Connect meeting, the section with the video is blank. However, if I turn off the Sync, I get the play bar and can manually play it, but it does not sync to the group (obviously with sync being disabled).
How can I set it up so I can manually play the video and keep the attendees synced to the video, as well?Hi,
You can get the playbar even in the sync mode. Click on share pod's dropdown menu and click on Show Presentation playbar option from the dropdown.
You will then see the playbar similar to what you see in un-sync mode and you can then play the video. Let us know if this did the trick for you!
Thanks
