Video preview during capture CS3

Video preview during capture is not working even though settings are at preview video and audio during capture.
The work around seems to be to go ahead record anyway (red button) then it works after I paste the captured audio onto the timeline.
When pasting it to the timeline the video appears. The video appears during subsequent captures. It seems like a bug in CS3. This was not a problem with PP 1.5

  • No video Preview During Capture

    Here is the scoop:
    Adobe Premeire CS5
    Windows 7 64bit
    Canon XL2
    Capturing DV NOT HDV
Canon standard device control as there is no preset listed for the XL2
Video and audio actually captures fine. I can hear audio during capture but cannot see any video.
I know there is no video preview when capturing HDV but I am capturing DV.
Again this is CS5 NOT 5.5 so .dll fix is not an option
    Thanks in advance.

    FIXED!
    Heres how it went:
Went to Device Manager and let windows look for an updated driver for my Graphics Card (Radeon HD 4200). Windows said the most current driver was installed. It was NOT the most current driver. I went out to ATI and got the most current driver, installed, reboot and OH JOY! I get video in the capture window during preview AND during capture (of DV)!
I also let windows (device manager) look for updated drivers for sound and it said the driver was the most current. Again, it was not. so the moral of the story is...Don't trust Device Manager on current driver versions.
Hope this will help some folks out there.
    Side Note*
Most of us spend hours on forums looking for answers/fixes to particular problems. Most replies I see are either in the vein of "I have that problem too" or " try this, it worked in this OTHER version or try this OTHER software" etc. If you dont have an answer/fix for the problem, dont post.
ON the flip side of that, when posting a problem you want an answer to, Give all the pertinent information in your initial question. " Premiere crashes when I plug up my camera" does NOT suffice! What version of Premiere, what camera, what OS, What kind of connection, etc.

  • No Video Preview When Capturing DV Video.

I have looked through the forums, scoured the internet, and even worked with Adobe technical support to no avail. I am using a Canon ZR80 to transfer some of my older home movies from DV tapes to my PC. Adobe Premiere Pro captures audio and video just fine, but I can not watch the video as it captures. This is NOT HD video so PP should let me preview it. Here's my system:
    Windows 8 x64
    Intel i7-3930K 6 core processor @3.20 GHz
    32GB RAM
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 ti
    Directx 11
I have tried using legacy FireWire drivers as many have suggested with no effect. I have tried it on PP 5.5, 6.0 and CC all do the same thing. I have tried 6 different video card drivers. I even did a clean install of Windows 8. I have dual monitors and read somewhere to remove one, tried that no help. Worked with Adobe support for 2 days till we got to the point that he said I "should just get a refund".
I really don't want to give up on pp for such a minor issue, but I also don't want to keep paying $23 a month for software that is not 100%.
If ANYBODY has ANY ideas, I would greatly appreciate it!

I also don't want to keep paying $23 a month for software that is not 100%.
Software as complex as Premiere Pro will never be 100% bug free.
I'm also inclined to believe this is more of a system issue than a PP issue.  I don't recall other reports of this nature, and it works fine on my own system.
The only other thing I can think of to suggest is another FireWire port, possibly by adding a FireWire card to the system.  I've read that the chip makes a difference, so research over in the Hardware forum.

  • Audio preview during capture

    Hi
How do I get audiopreview during capture?
When I playback audio output works fine, during capture its off.
When I look in the Audio/Video Settings in the tab Capture Settings I can read in the right summary field that the speaker is off, how do I get this on?

HDV does not allow monitoring audio during capture.
If you are working with DV, there is a checkbox to turn it on. The location of the box varies with the version of FCP.
The simpler solution is to just to route the analog audio out from your deck or camera to a pair of speakers. This has the beauty of not adding to the processing overhead during capture.

  • Preview during capture

P.E. version 9.0.1 , operating system Vista 32 . When capture video from camcorder via fire wire , don't have preview , but video and audio captured O.K.
What should I look to solve this?
    Ted

    Hello again;
I been looking to some sources include Adobe and didn't find nothing about no capture preview in P.E.9. Only in the Read Me file , Adobe mention that some streaks could be visible on capture preview screen due capturing
interlaced footage. However I was successful with capture preview until I get updates from Adobe , updated graphics driver from nVidia and get windows updates. Going further I installed my old  P.E.4.0 which I been using for few years and with this program I have preview on capture screen when capturing HD footage. My conclusion: something is corrupted in P.E.9 either to updates or poor writing of the program.
Another issue with P.E.9 is rendering. When I render timeline and save , then exit program and open project again red line above time line is still present. I have to render again to get this job done.
I contacted Adobe about this issue and after several back and for calls answer from Adobe was "this is going since version 4.0 and Adobe is working on this ,and will send you update". It is over year now
and no update resolving rendering problem, but I don't have rendering problem in version 4.0.

  • Audio echo during capture CS3

During capture I get this terrible audio echo.  If I go into the Windows mixer panel and set a slider called Premiere down to zero that will stop it.  But if I then wish to hear the audio (from Premiere) after the capture I have to turn it up again.  Sureley this is not the correct way to do it.
It seems as though the input audio is being monitored and the delayed Premiere output at the same time.  This will only happen when the capture screen is open.
Anyone any idea how to stop this without constantly playing with the mixer?
    Very annoying.

Problem is only while the capture screen is being used. The delay is very pronounced.
So, your Captured footage does not exhibit this echo. Is that correct? Obviously, you have a latency issue. What are your Audio playback settings? I would also wonder about the Matrox card, as these have caused all sorts of Audio issues, though I do not recall any with Capture.
If the first statement is true, then your footage is clean and good, and all you have to do is adjust the necessary settings during Capture.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Video Stuttering during capture

I know this has been discussed in the past, but I cannot seem to find it; hope someone will help.
I am capturing old VHS tapes using Premiere 10 media capture via a Canopus ADVC55.  The clips I'm transferring suffer from stuttering during capture (approx every 1 sec).  I seem to remember that this indicated a timing issue from stretched tape or something.  I hate to think that's the case.  Could it be anythng else, and is there a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Julian

    Steve,
I had an informative (but ulimately depressing) talk today with an engineer at Grass Valley.  He said that the ADVC55 adherence to the NSTC spec is quite tight, and suggested I try another source as an input to the device.  I plugged in a Sony camcorder and it converted seamlessly.  He suggested the VHS player (or tape) doesn't meet the NSTC spec, and that I try another VHS player that may be tighter to the spec.  If is also possible that my old VHS camcorder originally used to create the tapes didn't meet the spec.  The ADVC-300 contains time-base correction that could alleviate this, but is substantially more costly.  The cheap Diamond A/V converter probably isn't as sensitive to the spec, and is therefor more forgiving.
All interesting, but in the end, I have a fairly expensive device that won't help me.  I guess I can look for another VHS player to try, but it sounds like a lot of effort for a long shot.  Any ideas on a work-around?  I'm stuck.
By the way, MediaInfo shows the following for the  Diamond device:
    Format:  YUU
    Codec:  UYUY          http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/en/bf/amm/http://
    Frame Rate:  59.940 fps
    Resolution:  480x720
The link must be to the developer.

  • No preview during capture issue

Hi - I have Adobe Premiere setup to show me the video while it's capturing it form my camcorder, but for some reason it only shows the first frame at that's it.  it does capture it correctly.  What could be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Roberto

Hmm.  I've not yet seen this issue under these conditions.  The Scenalyzer suggestion may be worth investigation.  WinDV is another capture utility, not quite as feature rich as Scenalyzer, but it is free.

  • Capture of Video Freezing while Recording (CS3 & CS4)

I was having this problem when I was running Premiere Pro CS3 and I'm still having it while I'm running CS4.
I press F5 to bring up the capture window and I can clearly see the contents of my Xbox 360 being projected onto my screen in the little video (preview?) window. I press "Record" and it will begin recording my play. At any random point, however, the image will freeze, the time elapsed will stop, and the remaining disk space time clock will show 5000+ hours. After I press "Stop" it'll ask if I would like to save the file, like normal, and the image will begin moving again waiting to record the next clip. During the time between the image freezing and me pressing "stop", nothing is recorded.
I use the Blackmagic Intensity capture card in my computer. I know that it works because of the partials that I get from this problem. And the times in which it happens is random. Sometimes it will record for 00:00:01:07 and other times it'll record for 00:02:03:29 and any time between that. The stuff it records is great so I would really like to fix this problem.
What is going on and how might I be able to correct this problem? Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance!

If you try with a video camera, things may be different. If you use an XBox, use other software, since PR is a VIDEO editing application.

I'm getting the following message on screen when attempting to capture video  "audio only capture selected, video preview disabled."  How can I get the view preview back?

FCE doesn't allow for audio only capture, it's in a twist somewhere.
    Try trashing the FCE preferences.

  • Preview and capture video

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to Java and I just came accross JMF.
I'm interested in creating an application that displays a live preview (upto 25fps) from a webcam (connected to a windows machine) and previews live audio from the mic.
Below the video preview I will have a 'Start Capture' button that allows the users to capture what they are seeing and hearing to an avi file (320x240, 25fps) until they press the 'End capture' button. While capturing it still needs to display the preview.
If possible would anyone be able to point me to some simple sample code, or email me some. (paul AT fenwd DOT co DOT uk)

  • HD Video Delay Issues in CS3 Vieo Capture

    I am using CS3. I am having a problem.
I have an issue with video capture.
    Here is my setup....
    Canon XH A1 Camcorder
    Set to: HDV60i
    Adobe Premier CS3
I'm using the Capture (F5) video option. My video in the capture window is
running about 1/2 a second behind the video on my camera
screen. Same for audio. For example: When I move the camcorder left or
right, the capture window on screen delays a second and then
    pans my movements.
Everything seems to work find If I am in SD mode.
Any ideas? Happens on my friends HD cam as well.
    Bruce

I have the same problem with the audio having a time offset with respect to the video track. Coincidentally, I also am using a Canon XH-A1 and use HDV in 60i. I worked around this by capturing an entire tape and unlinking the audio track from the video, moving the audio track to the correct offset by looking at frames where I could precisely correlate audio and video, and then re-linking the audio and video tracks.
The time offset is not the same with every tape. Sometimes the audio is earlier and sometimes later wrt video.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE HAD THIS AUDIO TIME SHIFT CHANGE ON ME AFTER WORKING ON THE PROJECT FOR A LONG WHILE!!!!! I believe it might be caused by the re-conforming problem. Needless to say this is extremely frustrating to have the editing tool corrupt the artistic work. Fortunately I had rendered intermediate copies on DVD so I at least have a reference to see by how much each tape's audio track had re-timeshifted after re-conforming.
I have hundreds of cuts in a sports video that was destroyed by this bug. Now I need to change the cut points in each segment on the time line and re-apply all of the transitions to make it right again. ARRRGHHH!!! OK, end of rant.
Has anyone else had the time shift in the audio track change on them like this? Is this a known issue with the re-conforming bug? Is there any assurance that the audio won't shift to yet another offset after I manually change the few hundred clips on the timeline?
    Thanks.

  • G4 ti4400 video-in preview before capture

HElp can anyone tell me how to simply PREVIEW video BEFORE  I capture to my hard drive?! Id like to just be able to watch video from jvc camcorder on pc. Capture does work w s-video or firewire card i have installed. Do I need a Tv tuner card ? I would assume its possible to JUST WATCH video without having to save it to hard drive first.Running wxp, win movie maker and winproducer installed. THNX

    Okay, could be other issues.
What exact versions of OS / FCPro / QT?
Has this procedure been functional in the past?
If so, did you do any recent upgrades/updates?
FireWire NTSC Basic is usually used for Canon hardware, due to funky FW implementation. You might try changing it to standard FireWire NTSC.
I notice the Pana AD-DV2000P is on the list of qualified devices for Final Cut Studio 1 (FCP 5).
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/devicelist.php#results
That deck is not listed for FCS2...(one of the reasons for my first question above)
Another reason for question #1 is the possibility of a bungled QT install (incompatibility between OS/FCP/QT), so your answers will help diagnose the issue at hand.
You might try the 'Guinness Solution', posted by Studio X, here...

Post back with more info, then maybe try the Guinness approach.

  • Number of video previews goes up infinitely during render

During a render in my timeline the number of video previews to be rendered climbs infinitely and so the render never completes.
This footage is a combination of mts files shot on a Sony FS700, and 4k files shot with a recorder using the same camera. It seems that Premiere is able to render half of the timeline and then nothing beyond a certain point. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I just posted this problem under a new thread:
Rendering effects on timeline loops in Premiere Pro
    before I found this thread.
My environment specifics can be seen in that post.
Mark, your post gave the the idea on how to track this down.
In this particular timeline I had non-anamorphic 720P 29.97 footage on an anamorphic 23.97 timeline. I also had a short AE clip which was 23.97 square pixels. I removed the AE clip and changed the timeline to 29.97 square and the render effects worked.
It sounds like you're on the right track but it may be more pervasive than your post indicated. It may be that ANY mismatch between a clip and the sequence setting can cause this problem.
I hope you get this one fixed soon - it sure puts a crimp in my editing!
