Video Preview in Program/Source Pane is Small

Hello there,
I imported a sequence from FCP7 into Priemere by creating an XML(v5).  My sequence settings and clip settings match, so that's probably not the problem.  I have checked "Fit" and it still shows up pretty small.  However, when I add a new clip (that I also imported from FCP&) to same sequence it is the correct size in the Program and Source Pane.
I have been googling this answer ALL day now.. and can't edit until I fix this! Someone please help!

have the clips been scaled in any way?

  • Windows 8.1/ No video preview in timeline, source pane or timeline pane.

I have just recently had to switch to a PC... Coming from Mac.   It has been over 7 years for me and this is my first PC without windows XP.   So... I have an Asus Laptop with an I7 2.5Gz, 8 GB Ram, 2 gig on board video.  Windows 8.1.
Brand new.  Just installed Premiere CC and I cannot get video to preview.  Either in the timeline, the source pane or in the main pane.  Nothing.  Installed QuickTime.  Still nothing.  No formats, MOV, MP4... Nada.
What gives?  Am I missing something?   Even went as far as dumping and re installing.  Classic windows, its broken, get out and get back in thing.
Not the files I am importing, as they work just fine on my Macbook Air.

    Hi,
Does your computer have Intel HD Graphics 4000 or above?
If yes, before importing any media go to File > Project settings > General and change the Video Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only and choose 'Delete previews' after clicking OK. Then import your footage and see if you still have the same problem.
    Thanks,

  • There is no video preview when using a Final Cut Pro X project as my source.

When I send my FCPX project to Compressor 4 there is no video preview in the preview window. I have the source selected from the dropdown preview settings but the screen is black with no sound, even though the timecode is correct. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If you export (command e) as a QT movie, then bring that into Compressor as the source file, can you preview it?

  • Enabling small video preview when video calling on...

Hi everyone, I'm new to windows 8.1, but am familiar with using skype. I was wondering if anyone could help resolve my problem.
When video calling my friend, I exit the skype window and want to do other things while chatting and want to have a small skype window (video preview) of the person I'm chatting with. I had this on my old computer (Windows 7) but can't seem to find the setting for this on Windows 8.1. If anyone can help me locate this setting, and help me out, please let me know.

    Carolyn,
I think your TV might be a rear projection model, correct? Those types of TVs inherently have overscan built into them as part of their optical design. The TV should have some picture SIZE settings that affect how much overscan is present, and some settings may even get rid of it altogether with the result there might be a small black border instead.
Don't worry about changing TV settings. Settings like this are tied to a specific input. So if you make these types of changes while the TV is passing the mini's video through to the screen, those changes will only apply to the mini. When you switch to other inputs, like a cable box, etc., the old settings should still be intact and unchanged.

  • Video preview not working

When working on a project, the video preview is no longer working, neither for individual video preview or for overall preview of the project video composite.  I have no idea what to do.  It worked before.  I am on Windows 7 64 bit with Premiere Elements 10.

Since you are a Premiere Elements 10 user with a display problem, the first order of business is to determine if your computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphic card. The Announcement at the top of this forum tells it all, the problem and the how to fix. For your convenience, the following is a copy/paste of that Announcement.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are
experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of
troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained
workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce
video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card
driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as
March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any
corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

the driver roll back can be found
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/02/pe10-nvidia-video-card-roll-back.html
If you fall into the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce display problem, then your answer is to roll back your card driver
(typically that has been requiring roll back to about May 2013). This factor needs to be ruled in or out at the onset of the
    troubleshooting plan.
    Equally important questions include:
    a. If you start a new project, do you have the same problem?
    b. If you use the same source video in the project with or without going to a new project, do you have the same problem?
We will be watching for your progress. Please do not hesitate to say if you need clarification on anything written.

  • 2nd Graphic card displays white only if used for Video Preview in FCP

I just bought a Vavida 8800 graphics card, so that I could connect 3 monitors total. I have my main two monitors on my table connected to the Navida, and a flatscreen TV behind me in the living room connected to the original Redeaon graphics card. All 3 monitors display fine, but when I try to set the Video Preview in FCP, either on RAW or Full Screen, all I get is a white Image. This worked fine with only 2 monitors.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Christian

Does anyone know if Apple is working on the second graphic card issue in FCP?
I installed an ATI 3870 on top of the 2600 that came with my MacPro, assuming that it will work.
But I'm having all kinds of problems in FCP, random freezes, long waits for rendering and exporting, etc.
I have two Dell 24 inches monitors and a smaller 19 inches Acer, and I would love to have some extra real estate to leave the timeline in one Dell, the preview in another, and the canvas and viewer on the Acer.
I read I can get the Blackmagic Intensity to output HDMI/DVI (via an adapter, I guess, since the Blackmagic has no DVI output and my monitors have no HDMI), so my question is: if I get the Blackmagic can I use it's output for other programs (Photoshop, ProTools, and so on)? or it will only appear as a valid output in FCP? In other words, does the Blackmagic works as a graphic card when FCP is not active?
Sorry for the silly question, but I already bought a card that is actually useless for me, and I don't want to spend $250 in another.
    Thanks

  • R3D, RED files based project showing no video preview after reinstalling CS6. Solution!

    Hello Friends,
I just came across with a problem which happened with my RED R3D RAW Files shot on RED EPIC Camera and managed to solve it in a simple click after wasting many hours, so thought why not to share this on adobe forum so others can save time.
    Problem was :-
I made a project in Primer pro CS6 with RED RAW R3D files and later I had to reinstall CS6. Later when I tried opening my same project which consist of R3D RED RAW files. The project opened successfully but I red files was seen but with no video preview, importing the new RED files where working fine but the old files which was imported when I made the project they where not playing at all.
    Solution:-
You can select all you RED R3D Files and go to source settings, Click Reload from RMD. Problem Solved!!!
I hope this small write up will be helpful to some of you out their.
    Cheers,
    Saurabh Pandey.

I have verified this problem. After Effects CS6, Premiere Pro CS6, and Adobe Media Encoder CS6 experience problems with RED .r3d files on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
More specifically, the ImporterREDServer process used by these applications is failing to launch or crashing. You may be able to import and use some .r3d files for a short time, but once the ImporterREDServer process crashes, frames from imported files won't be returned, and importing new files will result in error messages.
    We are investigating the problem.
This problem does not occur in the CC or CC 2014 versions of After Effects, Premiere Pro, or Adobe Media Encoder on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. If you do not have access to these versions, my suggestion for workarounds are to transcode the .r3d files to a different format (ex., QuickTime with ProRes or other high quality intermediate codec) or roll back to Mac OS X 10.9.

  • I don't have PHOTO listed in my ITUNES source pane so how do I add photos?

I just installed the ITUNES CD onto my new computer Gateway Windows Vista. I read the manual to install photos and it says to click on IPOD and Photos under my source pane. I don't have listed Ipod or Photos.
Under my source pane are listed:
    Library
    Podcasts
    Videos
    Party Shuffle
    Radio
    Music Store
    (and then my music playlists)
And that's it. So how do I intall photos if I don't see the word Photo to click. I don't have adobe photoshop either.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

First of all as the last poster pointed out, the photos tab is not listed under sources, it's one of the preference tabs that can be viewed when the iPod is connected. Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list. (this will bring up the ipod preferences tabs in the main pane to the right of the source list)
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view. if you want to include full size photos so you can move them from one computer to another check the the "Include Full Resolution photos" box.

  • Video preview is playing slowly with "jumps"....

    Hi,
I just captured some video from my DV camera, and wanted to edit it, but unfortunately I am unable to do so since I can only see the video preview playing very slowly.
I created a new sequence, and dragged the captured video into it.
Then on the main premier screen I can see the project frame, a "source" frame, a "program" frame, and a "Timeline" frame.
Trying to hit the play button on the "program" frame start playing the video, but slowly. I can hear the video sound running normally but the video is playing slowly then it should, and I can see the seconds and mil-seconds running but slowly when the seconds jump up and down like in : 111111122211222222333223333334443344444 and so on and the video have some jump all the time.
Does anyone know what might be the problem?
The file that was saved on the disk is playing normally using other media tools.
I hope I explained myself clearly, but if not please let me know.
    Amir

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick replay.
I did read the guidelines, but I guess that because I tried to be very detailed, it became messy.
    I will try again.
I have attached a screenshot of the screen.
As you can see in the screenshot, there are two yellow squares.
Trying to play the video in each one of then will make the video play slowly, and in slowly I mean that every "second" (which is 25 frames...) take a little longer, and in that period of a little more then a second the move "jumps" a little bit back and continue to play... then on the next "second" the same thing happen and so on.
Playing the video and pressing on the "Shuttle" button with the mouse will cause the video speed to change, but the video will play smooth.
I hope this is more understandable and if not please tell me which information to add to make it clearer...
    Thanks
    Amir

  • Encore crashes dury any video preview

I just bought Encore and to my dismay it crashes during any video preview. This includes previewing the video in the Project panel, using File > Preview, and using the Monitor panel. It even happens when I just use the scrollbar, without even playing it. Is there a fix for this or did I just throw away a lot of money?
Is it possible my video card needs to be upgraded? I'd think that if the video card was too weak the video would just be choppy, not crashing the program, but I don't know much about video cards! Also, I'm on Vista. Tried running it in Windows XP compatibility mode but that didn't make a difference.

Thanks for the info! Lots of good stuff on that page! I didn't go through the whole thing, but my tests so far have led me to believe that this is the issue.
"It takes only one unexpectedly corrupt clip to cause endless problems. Make a list of all of your media clips. Play each one in an external media player and check off each one that is successful."
Although my AVI clips (they were taken using a RCA Small Wonder - http://www.mysmallwonder.com/) play fine in Windows Media Player, I do NOT get the crash if I use the WMV clips that come with Vista (C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos)
So on the simplest level, converting my AVIs to WMV or maybe just re-encoding should work for me, but I'll check my AVI codecs first with the tools listed on that page.
I figured listing my hardware was the next step if this wasn't a common problem... listing it here now but will provide everything else later if necessary.
Dell Dimension DXP061 running Windows Vista Home Premium
    Processor: Intel Core2 CPU (600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39GHz)
    Memory(RAM): 3070MB
    System Type: 32-bit
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
Will post the culprit once I verify what it is in case others have this same issue.
    Thanks John!

  • Video preview is white

I'm running Premiere Elements 8 and working on a video, but the video preview window (positioned on the upper left of the screen by default) is stuck in a perpetual white mode.  If I enable the safe margins, they show up but no video content displays in the box.  However, if I click the video preview window, the clip that is forwardmost in the timeline becomes selected and I can see it (when it is selected, I can scale it and move it around, because it's altering the motion properties of that clip).  The minute I try to play the video within the editor, the window returns to white.
I've attached a screenshot to show you what I'm talking about.
So does anybody have any ideas regarding what is happening?  Restarting the program hasn't corrected it, and therea re no updates.

Before I start, I can't see how drivers, source video file details or my hardware could be relevent here because none of them have changed since the last time I used the program.
Video is two different resolutions: 840x524 and 1360x768.  They're video that was captured in real-time from video games using a program called Fraps.  The reason why I don't think this is relevent is because the display is white whether I have anything in the timeline or not.  I could have a blank project with absolutely no media in it at all and the display is white.
I have a gaming laptop running an nVidia G94, which utilizes three video cards: a single GeForce 9400 when in low-power mode and two GeForce 9800's when running in high power mode.  The driver is 195.81.  It shouldn't be because the drivers aren't officially supported for the G94, but the only place that provides drivers hasn't updated them in over a year and a half.  It's either I use old drivers that will prevent certain games from working or I modify the INF of the newest nVidia driver to recognize that I am running two 9800s and a 9400.  This has never been an issue in the entire five or six months I've been using it.  I've been running Premiere for close to three months and this is the first time I've encountered this issue.
[e] I'm trying the newest nVidia drivers, 196.34, and will report my findings.

  • I have created a movie in 16:9 format. I have created an iDVD pane in 16:9 but when I preview the movie that pane changes to 4:3 and burns the DVD as a 4:3 movie. How can I stop that, please I am in Snow Leopard, using FCE4.0.1?

I created an iDVD pane in 16:9 but when I play the movie in the iDVD preview window the iDVD pane switches to 4:3 and it burns the DVD in 4:3. How can I stop this so I get a16:9 DVD. Thanks for any help offered

    Hi
As I see this I see two parts
    • Howto go from FinalCut to iDVD
    • Howto set iDVD right
In FinalCut Express (to 4) or Pro (to 6 - most probably 7 too)
    • One has to set Anamorphic in the Browser window - menu columns
    • Export as QuickTime movie .mov - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION
In iDVD there are TWO places to set - WideScreen
    - Start a NEW iDVD project - AND HERE SELECT WideScreen 16:9
    - in Project - select Projectinfo
    - now set WideScreen 16:9 - Here too
This use to work for me.
    FOR FinalCut Pro-X - I have not a Clue - as I don't use it. SORRY
BTW - There is a good practice to before BURNING the DVD do
    • Save as a DiskImage
    • Test this by using DVD-Player tool
And if it is OK Size and All - then burn it by using
    • Disk Util tool
    • here set down burn speed to x4 or less (less burn errors = plays on more devices and better)
    • Not using Memorex or NoName etc cheap media - as they usually DO NOT WORK as Video-DVDs
    • I use Verbatim DVD-R as they play on more and even older DVD-players

  • How to tell whether video preview is working?

An app shows video preview with code essentially the same as in
    the MSDN document:
async void ShowPreview(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    if (mediaCaptureMgr == null)
    // Using Windows.Media.Capture.MediaCapture APIs
    // to stream from webcam
    mediaCaptureMgr = new MediaCapture();
    await mediaCaptureMgr.InitializeAsync();
    myCaptureElement.Source = mediaCaptureMgr;
    await mediaCaptureMgr.StartPreviewAsync();
It works most of the time. However, sometimes the video does not show. When this happens, myCaptureElement.ActualWidth and myCaptureElement.ActualHeight still return the correct values. This probably means at least something is working. In this case, how can
the code tell what my eyes can see - the video is not showing?
    Hong

    Hi Hong,
Based on my knowledge, your problem may related to the dispose of the MediaCapture object. Forget to dispose it when app suspends will result in a negative user experience for your app.
About your question, I’ve not seen such property in MediaCapture class, so it’s recommend to create a Boolean that indicate whether the app is currently previewing video. You need to maintain this object when start or stop preview. You can find more information
    from this page.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/xaml/hh868171.aspx. See Step 5 section.
