Video Problems (need suggestions for playing large videos)

I have a video that I need to play in Authorware. The piece
starts out as a
Photo Slide Show, and then a video will come up. This will be
published to
an EXE file, and loaded onto the computer's hard drive, for
making a
presentation of sorts.
The Authorware piece will be published at 800 x 600, and I
want the video to
be as close to full-screen as possible.
I currently have the video file in 4 versions:
.wmv 720x480 (1,561 KB)
.avi 720x480 (43,346 KB)
.wmv 800x600 (2,295 KB)
.avi 800x600 (656,711 KB)
If I use any of these videos using the Digital Movie icon,
the video will
play in the published file, but there is always a few seconds
of laggy video
playback, and dropped frames. I'd like to use the 800x600
.wmv file, because
of it's much smaller file size. Is there another way to play
this video that
wouldn't have the laggy playback and skipped frames?
If the answer is to use an ActiveX Control, I'd need someone
to point me in
the direction of some guide to using it, as I've never used
any ActiveX
Controls before.

thanks, i'll check that out.

  • Hp Pacilion p6110f video problem, need suggestion please.

That is the model of the desktop I currently have. The problem I am having is when I try to edit hd video in Adobe Premiere the uncompressed file just lags in the source monitor, sometimes it won't play at all. I've been told to try and upgrade the graphics card but all the graphics cards require a bigger power source which now means I have to replace the power supply. Another person had said to change the graphics cards and add another internal harddrive. I don't know what kind of harddrive I need or will work and which graphics card would be the best. Any and all help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
           Bob

    Hello Bob
I believe what you have been told is accurate.
If your video card is not powerful enough to play HD video then you can experience monitor lag or the video not playing at all. Unless you have changed you video card, your computer has an integrated Intel GMA 3100 which is not meant for playing HD video. As such playing HD content may work, but only if the processor can pick up the huge slack. Getting a new video card would be the best choice, however, as you stated, a new graphic card will need a larger power source. Even the cheapest low end cards on the market (currently) suggest a 300Watt power supply (yours is a 250Watt).
The idea that a new hard drive might work is iffy. If you get a faster drive than you currently have, yes the data can be read faster, but if the CPU and video card can't process it fast enough it is useless.
I have another question, what operating system are you running and are you editing uncompressed 720p or 1080p?
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

  • Any solution to the "Error in playing video" problem when trying to play YouTube videos on DVR?

Tech. support said they updated the firmware on my DVR remotely, but that didn't do anything.  I see other people are having issues.  Does anyone have a solution, or has anyone had tech. support actually fix the problem?  Thanks.

it's definetely a Media manager thing,  make sure you have the absolute latest and greatest media manager (tech support will tell you to make sure of this too)
then make sure you add VerizonMediaManager.exe and VZVideoAgent.exe to the firewall exception list in all the firewalls on your machine (meaning windows firewall plus whatever firewall you have installed // mcafee, norton, trendmicro, kaspersky etc....)
Also let us know if the sample videos work and it's just youtube that doesn't, or do the sample videos not play either?
if sample video's play then youtube should really work and vz may have to have their it guys look at it.
if the sample videos's don't work then it's probably the firewall thing I mentioned above.  the sample vid is included in the Media Manager PC installation kit.
try this if as well, I found this on their website.
Media Manager Troubleshooting guide : https://www36.verizon.com/MM/fiossupport/Index.shtm
Also some virus protectors like eset and avg see verizon media manager as a threat and terminate the connection.  this link gives you a couple work arounds to fixing that.

  • Need Mic suggestions for solo guitar video...

I have a Sony TRV-38 mini DV and need suggestions for an external mic. I want to video a solo guitar player sitting in a chair. Would I need to mic the guitar from a mic stand in front of him or would some sort of shotgun mic do the trick? Would buying a Beachtek unit be the best way to go, or is there a simpler/cheaper mic alternative that gives very good results. This is primarily just for good sounding archival footage.
    Thanks for any help.
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

there are a couple of approaches... you can close mic, but if you are experimenting with your equipment and techniques, it is quite possible that you could get a very colored tone and not accurately depict the performace from a sonic standpoint.
something that is quick, easy, and relatively high performance at a budget is to use an M-S stereo shotgun mic. the left channel will be mono hypercardoid aimed right at the performer... with the mic mid range, not close mic'd. the right channel will be the "-S" component of the stereo signal, which is optional and can be decoded with an M-S stereo process in the edit process, or if for example, there was too much ambient noise, simply discard the track and just use the left / mono signal. (personally, i would probably just mount my audio technica M-S stereo mic on my rycote hotshoe adapter, and mic camera mounted... no stands or cables to deal with)
yes, the beachtek or similiar direct interface is the way to go, bypassing the Sony's poor gain stages (disable auto gain control, if possible).
IF sound quality is of the utmost importance, then the real correct way to do this would be to record with 2 mics in an X-Y stero mid field setup. expense, complexity, and possibility of getting something wrong are probably too high to do for something as critical as a 1 take live event if you don't have experience under your belt.

  • Which codec is needed for playing vp6 videos in Windows 7 (32 bits)?

I'm still trying to solve the media corrupted error, could you recommend me a codec for Windows 7 (32 bits) for playing vp6 videos?
Perhaps I'm not using the correct codec...
    Thanks!
    Noelia

Thanks for your answer, I'm doing this question here because I have Media problems with my JAVAFX 2.0 application since october.
I posted many questions about the error "media corrupted" and I couldnt get an answer for my problem. My application change videos all the time and I'm trying to solve the error.
I think that I was wrong choosing JAVAFX 2.0 because it's too new. I have to finish my app because my client is waiting...
I don't know what to do, I spent lot of time... I tested a lot of codecs and the problem persists. I hate vp6 videos.
    Thanks

and under it, it says, "You need to download and install the lastes version of Adobe Flash Player to view this content"
and also a green button saying "Get Flash Player"
I get this if using chrome or safari .

The Facebook link to the video is accessing an Adobe Flash video.  Unfortunately, no iOS devices can play flash.

  • Playing large video files in the flash player

    Hi,
At the moment I'm trying to play large video files (1GB+) in the JW Player, but after a certain amount of time, around 67 to 70 minutes, the video just stops playing. Does the Flash Player have a limit on the size of video files?

I'd need to debug it to figure out what's going on.
The best way to get traction on this is to file a bug.  If you can provide a link that demonstrates the problem, that would be ideal.
    http://bugbase.adobe.com/
Post the bug number here, and I'll forward it over to the video team.
    Thanks!

  • IPhoto '11 crashing while playing large video's

My iPhoto '11 is crashing while playing large video's 30 mb or more. The whole lap top (Processor  2,5 GHz Intel Core i7) crashes there after.
    solutions are welcome.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few videos into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • How can i change the default application to vlc player for playing any videos on my macbook?

How can i change the default application to vlc player for playing any videos on my macbook?

    1. Control click the file you want to open.
    2. Click Get Info.
    3. Under open with, pick the App you want to be default.
    4. Click Change All Button.
    5. Confirm your decision.
You have to do this with every file that has a different extension. You can't change the default for every file with a different extension in a single operation.

  • Need suggestion for designing a BEx report

    Hi,
I need suggestions for designing a BEx report.

         14-Mar-2011 -
    ---     T2 -
    --     25-Feb-2011
Any idea how can I display Previous Completed Cycle and Completion Date (i.e. the last two columns)?
    Regards,
    Vikrant.

    hi vikrant,
You can a Cube at the reporting layer  which gets data from DSO and which has these 2 extra characteristics completion date and previous cycle along with other chars and keyfigures from DSO.
You can populate these  based on your logic in the field routine.
    Hope it helps.

  • HD Video Footage - need suggestions

Hello - I just shot some HD footage and did a test in FCE-HD by exporting a 1 minute movie into Apple-TV format. When viewed via Apple TV, it looks awful. Has anyone found out a "best practices" solution on how to take HD footage and export it into a format that ATV will show in all (or as best as possible with needed compression) its glory?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve
Not sure which HD camcorder you have, but as you suggest many don't store full HD 1920x1080i, but have rectangular horizontal pixels resulting in a 1440x1080 pixel source to play with. The encoding software should realise the source is 16:9 format and scale/interpolate appropriately.
I don't have FCE-HD and have only had limited success with iMovie HD with my Sony HD camcorder (sound pitch issues more than anything, plus iMovie has become incredibly unstable recently for me).
Anyway, to get top the point, Apple TV cannoy display true HD, and the best you can hope to retain is a 720p movie:
    Video formats supported
    * H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    * iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels or 640 by 480 pixels
    * MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    Audio formats supported
    * AAC (16 to 320 Kbps); protected AAC (from iTunes Store); MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps); MP3 VBR; Apple Lossless; AIFF; WAV
Now the stock AppleTV setting in FCE-HD may be a compromise between quality and speed (iMovie is very slow indeed exporting).
If I were you I would dabble with manually using an export to Quicktime movie option.
    Use:
    - a short clip to compare settings as encoding can take much time
    - the h.264 codec,
    - set the size manually to 1280x720,
    - choose best quality encoding (single pass faster but quality/file size may be compromised)
    - if you want to set bitrate it will need to be <5000 kbps, often 2000-2500kbps is more than adequate
    - you may need to set deinterlace source video
    - ensure correct fps
    - audio to AAC 160kbps
    - compare that with the default output then dabble with settings to get a speed/compression/quality compromise that your happy with
    - finally don't delete your source material - you may want to re-encode at higher quality or resolution in the future!
There are other alternatives for encoding outside of FCE/iMovie. As you have FCE you might as well edit in that, but you could always export to an uncompressed format and try MPEGStreamclip or VisualHub for example to encode with instead of Quicktime.
    Good luck.

  • IMac 600 SE - strange power/video problems - need motherboard?

    Hello all,
Got this "project" iMac, have no knowledge of its history. Here's what's going on:
When I first got it, it would take 3 or 4 tries for it to fully boot up, on the first try it would shut off after a second or two, the next try it would get a little further along before shutting down and finally on the 3rd or 4th try, it would boot up completely.
Initially, it had a dim display and a bunch of wavy horizontal lines, like a TV with bad reception using a "rabbit ears" antenna. The person I got it from said from what he had learned, he thought it was a power supply problem.
So I replaced the down converter/power supply with a spare one I had leftover from a previous motherboard replacement, which made no difference at all, same problems.
So I then checked the firmware, which was the latest version (4.1.9). Then I did a PRAM reset, which helped, followed by a PMU reset. I did the PRAM reset several times when problems cropped again, and have done the PMU reset twice, resetting the clock both times.
The shutdowns on boot up have disappeared, but it will occasionally shut down out of the blue after being on for awhile now. The horizontal lines have disappeared, but it now has a strange video problem:
The geometry of the screen is off-kilter by default, so when I go into System Properties to reset the geometry there, and I use the "Rotate" command to correct the overall incline in the display from right to left, the display gets dimmer, and sometimes the horizontal lines reappear, usually on the right side of the screen. When I click on "Factory Defaults", the display gradually brightens again, and if horizontal lines are present, they disappear. This phenomenon doesn't appear to occur when I adjust the display height and position, only with the "Rotate" command, rotating it counter-clockwise. I believe the iMac even shut down once when I was doing this.
I have also noticed an occasional higher-pitched "whine" on boot up, which usually results in an eventual shut down.
So, are these problems symptomatic of a bad motherboard or a bad video board/card? Since I have the latest firmware and have tried both PRAM and PMU resets, and the occasional random shut down still occurs, it makes me think it's a hardware problem.
I just need some feedback here before I purchase a replacement motherboard.
Also, can the video board/card be replaced separately?
    Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/help!

    flaash...
In your situation I believe 2 components need checked first. PAV board and the CRT. Or essentially anything shared by the 2 items, such as the CRT yoke/gun board.
As far as the logic board goes, the video chip-set is part of it (soldered in) and not repairable. Those parts rarely "weaken" (normally just die) so I would be less likely to suspect them.

  • What is good practice for playing multiple video's in a single swf?

    Hello,
I have build in the past a video wall with video's inside. After building this i came across some problems.
If you have too many video players loading at once it takes a lot of processing and the tweens in the
page while loading the video's where not moving fluidly, but more in a stuttering way.
After lot's of test i found a good working solution.  I imported the flv video's into flash en exported them on the timeline
as a embedded swf.  Then i externally loaded these swf files and that performed much better.
Is it even good practice to load multiple video instances at once? I used this time the LoaderMax of greensock but the video's
only play after it's completely loaded. I would like to find a way to progressive play all video's at.
Does someone has experience with this?
    Regards,
    Chris.

How about an XML file which supplies the title for each movie and the location or source of the video to be played?  Simple version below.
