Video projector vs projector??

What is the difference? I can find none and no reference to such a difference except in the user's guide of my imac. Appararently though I need a different adaptor to hook up to each. HELP??? Sara

They are they same thing. They would both hook up through your mini-DVI port on your Mac and depending on the unputs on the projector, you would either pick the mini-DVI to DVI adapter or the mini-DVI to VGA adapter.

  • Video output to projector

Just got my new MBP 17". I use an older Infocus LitePro220LCD projector to run visuals. On my older iMac G5 I use another adapter to run video out to projector, the projector is about 20' away, it connected via an RCA or "S" video. The MBP has a different adapter. Advise Suggestions??

The audio/optical out port will accept the tonslink miniplug for digital out only. You can also use the port for 1/8 " headphones without the miniplug. The video out is on the otherside, its the DVI port. The macbookpro comes with a DVI to VGA adapter. You should hook up your projector to the DVI or the VGA. If you projector does not have DVI or VGA you can adapt from VGA to RCA.

  • Why my Ipad2 will not play rented video to a projector via vga adapter connection

Hi, i want to know why my ipad will not play rented video to a projector using the apple vga adapter connector.  This is just basic mirroring and there should be no problem isn't it?  Please help.
    Thank you

Technically, yes, it should be easy. However with rented videos you may be running into DRM (DIgital rights management) where you may not be allowed to play that video anywhere but on the iPad. The video could have a bit of programming in it that literally tells the HDMI or VGA output not to work.
One way to test the connection, with your ipad's camera, shoot a short video and try to mirror that. If it mirrors and the movie doesn't then it's likely that you're simply not allowed to mirror it. If it doesn't play then there may be something wrong hardware or setting wise.

  • Video in a projector

Sorry for a stupid question but I cannot find the answer in
the help topics or in the Director Bible...
I am trying to get a quicktime movie to play in a projector.
The projector is copied onto a disk and then distributed where the
end user puts it into their computer and plays the movie. The
quicktime video that is included in my movie works fine on my
computer but not on another. In reading the helps it says the video
is only linked and not in the movie.
How do I include the video on a projector on another
computer? I would prefer not to have a copy of the movie on the
disk as a seperate file. Is this possible?
    Thank you for any help,
    Charles

First, you'll need to include the QT video file on the CD.
    See the manual and
search for past posts in here to avoid the dreaded "Where

You can include the QT installer on the CD if you sign and

Or you could simply make it a requirement for the CD and

  • Connecting the ipad to a data projector when projector is on the ceiling

I am trying to connect the ipad to a data projector when projector is on the ceiling. I have the VGA cord but it is way to short ...is there another cord to connect the both?

It is my understanding that the dgital adapter will give you full video mirroring over HDMI from the iPad 2, although there are some reported models of TVs and projectors that have issues, but that analog signaling, such as VGA, is limited to apps specifically written to provide access to that type of video connection.

Sounds like you may have been in extended display mode. If so, all you had to do was drag a window to the projector display. Or, if you wanted mirrored mode, in display preferences select check mirror display.

  • No video signal on projector (Lion, MacBook Pro)

    Hi guys
since I've update to Lion (10.7.2),  I have problems getting a video signal via mini-DVI / VGA to certain projectors. I'm using a Mac Book Pro (end of 2008). I have never encountered similar problem with previous versions of Mac OS X. Restarting the MacBook or the projector doesn't help. Does anybody have an idea what to do?
    Thanx
    fweth

I also update to Lion from 10.6.8.. My Dell 3300MP projector worked fine with Snow Leopard. Then with Lion, there is occassionally scrambled signal, but most of the time no signal.. Tried restarting projector, restarting computer, turning mirroring off and then on, but no help. I am running an early 2011 13" MBP.. Really frustrating for someone who does lots of presentations and teaching.

  • Satellite laptop: connecting video out to projector causes hum in (headset) audio output

Our church connects video output from the laptop to a projection system and audio out (via headset jack) to a sound board mono channel (line in).  Stereo to mono adapter.  We get a significant hum in the audio whenever the video cable is plugged in.  Doesn't matter whether the attached projection equipment is on or off, it's all about plugging the video cable into the laptop.  Unplug the video cable and the hum disappears.  Obviously we have tried all sorts of things to isolate the problem but it all comes back to plugging in that video cable.  We made sure there were no nearby power supplies or other equipment that might throw out interference.  Has anyone ever encountered this problem and  have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Using a Satellite PSBY1U laptop.  Video out is not HDMI but the other (VGA?) connector.  We are connecting audio out from the headset jack direct to a mixer channel.  No microphone is connected to the laptop.  We looked at every sound and video-related menu we could find and could not see any settings that would seem to be relevant to the problem (we changed lots of settings anyway and nothing helped).  Naturally we played with audio volumes, different auto cables, etc.  Bottom line is we get clean audio until we plug the video cable into the laptop, then we get a very prominent hum from the audio output.  Video cable goes straight to a projector, doesn't matter whether the projector is turned on or off.  The audio and video cables are never closer than four inches from each other.  It's weird.

  • Horrible-looking video with Dell Projector

    Hi guys,
Forgive me for posting anything regarding compatibility with a Dell projector - I had no choice. A customer had a room set up with a Dell DLP projector. The MBP recognized it just fine. However, the video output (using the VGA dongle) was just horrible. The video looked low brightness, and very high contrast. Subtle gradients were absolutely atrocious looking. The output when driving with a Dell Laptop looked much better.
Hooking up the VGA output to a Dell LCD monitor, and to a Sony CRT monitor looks just fabulous, however.
Do you guys have any idea why the video would look so horrible, and what I might be able to do to correct it, outside of buying my own projector?
    Sincerely,
    Rob
    MBP 2Gig   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

You're going to get horrible colors with 99% of all the projectors out there, especially the way most conference rooms are setup.
Things I've noticed that really help with the de-facto business standard of Dell projectors.
    1) Use a white background. (yes it really, ***** to make UGLY keynote presentations). But unless the room is pitch dark, black, and especially the gradient black look horrible.
    2) Always design for 1024x768, 99% of all the projectors are still stuck at this resolution.
    3) Keep stuff away from the edges of the screen, the Dell's destort the edges pretty bad, and often the setup in the conference room makes the image crooked on the wall/screen

  • Can I extract video from Movie Projector theme?

I'd like to use the video from the Movie Projector theme to make a video clip. Can it be accessed and used? I'll put it into Final Cut to use as a title for a project.
Also, can I extractcreate a still of the movie projector to use on the DVD cover?
    Thanks!
    BC

Can you extract it? Yes, but you need to need able to find it and it can be hiding in several places because of changes Apple has made over the years. I no longer have a machine with iDVD 5 installed so I can't tell you exactly where it is on your machine. BTW, the video just projects the leader in a loop.
With iLife '08 installed, the themes are in Library>Application Support>iDVD>Themes You must control-click on the theme you want and select 'show package contents'. With iDVD 4 you control-click the iDVD application and select 'show package contents'. The Contents>Resources then as above.

  • Problems with video in Flash Projector?

We are looking for guidance on how to overcome horizontal tearing in parts of .F4v movies played out of
Flash projector for PC.  We suspect the problem crops up at the point the projector is generated out of Flash,
having experienced the same problem with .F4Vs generated by others (see Note re: David Hassoun's Adobe
    online article below).
The Problem:  .F4V movies played out of a Flash projector exhibits horizontal tears (artifacts) during
panning, zooming motions in the video.
The Project:  Interactive kiosks for Hyatt/SeaWorld employing two screens -- a touchscreen and
media/display screen.  The project stage spans the two monitors (2390 px X 768 px combined) with the
touchscreen portion occupying 1024 and display screen 1366 of the horizontal dimension.  The videos in the
media screen (an attract loop and separate movies selected via the touch panel) have been encoded with
Adobe Media Encoder as 1280x720 .F4V files.
The Workflow:   Video acquisition in HDV, captured by Final Cut Pro and converted/uprezzed to ProRes 422
for editing.  Rendered out at "Current Settings" resulting in a 1920x1080i QuickTime - ProRes codec movie.
That is encoded to .F4V in Adobe Media Encoder using the 720p preset. We then use a program called
Jugglor to position the full-screen project, stripping off borders and hiding the system bar.
Movies play normally in Adobe Media Player and in .swf files generated out of Flash.  But after creating a
Flash projector for PC, the video exhibits the glitches (horizonal tears) in pans and zooms.
The Playback PC:  The media is played out of a custom-built PC consisting of:
    - Gigabyte motherboard, Intel Chipset 58
    - 6 gigs of ram
    - i7 Intel process (quad core) @ 2.66 gb
    - NVidia GeForce 9500 GT video card w 1gb ram
    - Super Ram Disk playback
    - 1 TB SEagate 7200 RPM HD w 32 mb cache
    - 550 w Corsair power supply
Note:  We have downloaded and played some example H.264 videos accompanying David Hassoun's
"Exploring Flash Player Support for H.264 Video and AAC audio" from the Adobe website.  We noted that
the video viles played flawlessly in the QuickTime player, but when we brought them into Flash and
generated a projector file, we saw the same horizontal tearing, particularly in motion shots and in
    transitions.

I hope this is something Adobe is looking into.  There are lots of tutorials for making videos small and grainy for playback on phones and internet appliances, but very little in the way of guidance for making hi-def video look like hi-def video.
A modern PC should be able to play hi-def off the hard drive with no problems, and there are players that do this (Quicktime, WMP, Nero), but when H.264 gets walled up inside a flash player, it seems to bog down.  The machine described above will easily decode and play back DV video in WMP at 25 Mbs, but both the Flash Player and Adobe Media Player give no joy when trying to playback h.264 at much lower bandwidths.
Increasing the quality of the video compression doesn't seem to overtax the processor or the bus (since it plays well in other players), but in Flash Player, it seems to expose limits in the performance of the player.
For authoring in Flash, what is the recipe for decent Hi-def?

  • Best technique for playing back video through LCD projectors

I recently created a  15 minute project in CS4.  I burned it to a DVD and it plays smoothly on a computer and DVD player.  I had a auditorium full of people and used a laptop to play the DVD to the LCD projector and the video was stuttery - fast motion, correct motion, and back again.  It was not horrible, but I noticed it.  What is the best workflow to output the highest qualtiy and best playback to projector?  I started with HDV footage and downsampled it to MPEG-DVD.  I customized the preset to max at 8 and target at 5.  Would flash look and work better?  I don't know what make and model the projector was because it was mounted to the ceiling.  I noticed this behavior once before on a different projector, same laptop.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

Target at 5 is pretty low, unless you are over 110 minutes duration. Since you mentioned only 15 minutes it is definitely too low.
Did you use this DVD-HQ  Bitrate & GOP calculator ? That will give you much better quality.

  • Optimal Video Settings for Projectors

    Hi Guys,
Really need your help on this one. My goal is to find the
optimal video format, data-rate and frame-rate to import 2-3 min
video pieces into director. I have the latest versions of Director
    and Sorensen.
The projector size is 1000 x 700 pixels to be distributed on
    dvd.
The original video files are mixed formats. I have some 640 x
425 AVI CAD movies, some DV movies at NTSC resolution and some 720
x 540 QTVR files converted to .avi.
The file types I am testing at the moment are SWF and
QUICKTIME .MOV, with mixed results on different systems. The best
results so far are from converting to SWF at 2500 kbps with 25 fps
keeping original size. I am then stretching the movies in director
    to fit 1000 x 670.
Ideally I would like each movie to play back at a setting of
1000 x 670 inside the projector, so that I can add movie controls
at the bottom of the projector.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Am I doing
something wrong here or is this the reality of using Director for
what I am trying to acheive. I seem to be spending hours trying
various formats and data-rates but with very average performance.

...doesn't really sound like a Lingo question but maybe
    someone can help.
