Video quality of Flash animation in iWeb

I'm inserting a flash movie (html snippet) into my iweb 08 site, but the resolution of the video is not as high as the original .swf file. This is my workflow:
-Go to LiveType and create a scrolling banner.
-Export the movie, then open it in Compressor and encode it with a different format. I do this because I've noticed that some of my LiveType animations don't play in my website if I don't encode them properly. I don't have to do this for any of my regular video files.
-Once I have the video file created, I use Visual Hub to create the .swf (flash) file.
-When I open the .swf file, the quality of the video animation is perfect.
-Then I create the html snippet in iweb 08 by copying and pasting the necessary code to make Flash work.
When I upload my site I can see some degradation in the quality of the video animation. Is not much but it is there... Has anyone seen this before? Is there a workaround for this?

I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

  • Overlay live video feed with flash animation

    I am using a webcam to allow people see themselves on a screen.  I would like to overlay the video with some flash animation (simple graphics of planes, cars etc.) going across the screen.
    How do I achieve this?

    Hi IEC,
    Having just finished an app that has two ROI overlay layers ontop of a
    static image, I might be able to give you some ideas. All of the below
    assumes that you know basic Labview programming.
    - I have not used IMAQ yet, and so am not sure what front panel control
    type will render the live video images. But, I'm not sure that matters.
    - If you can place an XY Graph over your video display on the front panel then we have it made
    - stretch the size of the XY Graph so that the plot area matches the size and placement of your video image panel
    - make the plot area of the XY graph transparent.
    - you can also make the border of the XY graph transparent
    - if you want a scale for your video then use the scale of the XY Graph to show the scale of your video images
    - then it's just a matter of defining the XY points of the ROIs that you want to plot on the XY Graph
    - if you want multiple ROIs then each can be a different color by making them different channels to the XY Graph
    - if you just want a few straight lines, and want to be able to move
    the lines around in realtime then you can get a little fancier:
           - turn on the cursor legend for the XY Graph
           - create two cursors for each line that
    you need (a start point cursor, and an end point cursor)
           - set the color and cursor style as desired
           - in your main loop:
                     - use the XY Graph "crsr list" property to get the XY positions of the various cursors
          - those cursor XY positions become
    points of line segments fed to the XY Graph to plot (draws a line
    between the cursors)
           - In realtime, as you move the cursors, the line segments move accordingly
    In my particular app I had to provide a mechanism for the user to
    create ovals, rectangles, polygons and freehand ROIs. Then I also
    needed mechanisms to rotate, pan or expand/compress the ROIs. This is a
    bit more challenging, but very do-able.
    Hope that helps,
    RMP

  • Importing Flash Animations Into iWeb...

    I noticed that in the few days I have had the privilege of using iWeb, I have noticed that Flash animations that I have created only show up as links on the page, and not actual Flash animations (meaning, when wanting to show the Flash animations on a website, they only show up as a small link, and don't automatically run on the website....
    So, my question is this: Does iWeb support Flash animations? If so, how do you import them into iWeb without them simply showing up as links? Thanks in advance for your swift response....

    Just any theme download from a site is not enough. The 3rd party themes must be designed specifically for iWeb and, as such, should have an installer included.
    Otherwise, start with either the white, black, or formal themes and use graphic files from those themes to create a custom design.

  • Image quality in Flash animations

    I notice when I run animations in the flash player, the image quality because very pixelated and blocky when I enlarge the animation.
    I need my website to scale to different screen resolutions, so this can be a problem. Is there any way to make images smoother when the flash file is enlarged beyond it's native resolution?
    I really need to know since my website has to scale to a LOT of resolutions.

    Dont think there is any concrete solution for this,
    Try using bitmap smoothing, it might help till some level.
    Another workaround would be, use large size images and scale them down to your current native resolution (size). This might help if you find an intermediate resolution and use imageof that resolution.

  • Loss of video quality when exporting animation

    I'm using the animation software Toonboom to make 2D hand drawn animation and I want to edit my scenes together in imovie. I export my clips out of Toonboom as Quicktime movies, and have no problem with getting them in imovie or editing them, it's the exporting that's causing the problem. I want to export them with the best possible quality so that the finished movie can be burnt on a DVD for TV viewing, so I export using the full qualty option, but every time I export it there is a noticable loss of quality. When I export the scenes out of Toonboom, the quality is perfect, so I don't want to lose my image quality. I've tried different compression options, and even have selected NO compression and have set it to the 'best' quality option, but the final export is always pixely, paler, or the black outline gets a ghost. Does anyone have any experience with editing and exporting 2D hand drawn animation in imovie 4 and what would be the best compression options. This is very frustrating, after putting a lot of work into it, to get a poor image quality because of this... Thanks a lot.

    Hi, thanks for your response. I tried creating a new imovie project to test what you said, but when I try to drop the imovie file with the star on it into iDVD I get a message telling me that it's an unsupported file type. Just out of curiosity I dropped a really crappy looking dv video file exported from imovie into iDVD and it really did improve the quality!
    What if I draw directly into the animation software using a graphics tablet, that way the images aren't scanned. Backgrounds can be painted in painting software, but they are of course, with the exception of a few camera pans, just still images. I wonder, is the poor imovie quality a result of the fact that it is outlines and solid colors instead of live action video? Kind of like when you turn a still drawn image into a JPEG file you get pixels in the colored areas.
    Thanks for mentioning about the "pixelated disk", too. It really ***** to burn a disk and then find out it's wasted because the video looks so bad.~_~

  • My first CS3 Flash animation in iWeb is done: Feedback pls!

    http://www.padmehum.de
    It is pretty straight forward. With html snippet i made the page home.hmtl point Banner.html which i had created with CS3 Flash earlier.
    Unfortunately the public IE computer i used to check cross plattform tolarency failed to run the flash part. As it was a public computer with very restricted accounts i couldn't check if the computer had Adobe Flash Player installed or not. According to Adobe Flash Player website Flash player should run on 98% worldwide. Can someone check my site with IE pls. and give feedback.

  • Flash Animation - How

    Can someone direct me to the best way to include flash animation to iWeb? Are there web sites I could visit or research?
    Thanks.....MacP

    Upload your flash file to a folder on your server and use an iFrame to display it on your website.
    Here's an example of a SWF file in an iFrame.

  • Flash animation interactivity for autism nonprofit

    I run a nonprofit that is creating an educational Flash animated video series for children with autism - we are trying to figure out the best way to composite our animation and export our videos so that we can retain the Flash interactivity and be able to play the videos across all platforms?  Should we composite in AfterEffects and export MOVs and then have the interactivity be coded in using HTML5, action script, or Javascript?  Or, is it best to keep everything in Flash and rely on an App to cross over to Apple products?  We are unfamiliar with other options and would really appreciate some help or guidance here.
    Bottom line: we want to be able to stream interactive videos of our Flash animation from our website so that they are compatible across all platforms and also create DVDs, while keeping all of the content consistent.  Our interactivity consists of a few buttons that bring up different menus or result in playback.

    Very hard to answer because it appears you're asking for a single development path with a huge number of vastly different mediums. You're going to need to expect to produce some of these in different ways, such as the DVD (if it's a video DVD). Flash/HTML5 won't help you there, Encore with some menu programming can do some but that is a horse of a whole different color than an actual interactive device.
    While Apple devices may eventually get Flash Player support, Adobe would probably first need to start developing Flash Player for Mobile which was already abandoned on Android. I find most sites utilizing Flash no longer play on my Android device despite the player.
    That leaves HTML5. While Flash can export to HTML5 it does come with limitations that you'll need to learn about.
    I feel the best place to start would be with a JavaScript programmer who can feel out the capabilities and limits of Flash's CreateJS HTML5 output and weigh that against your needs to see if it's an ideal platform to base off. Otherwise the pure JavaScript/HTML5 video route is probably your best choice. There are probably regulations (such as the old Section 508 accessibility for government work) that you're up against if you accept state or federal funding which will limit your choices to only the most accessible route, especially with special needs.
    In either route, due to being a bit familiar with the kinds of interactive activities you need, keeping interest via variation, video and animation are your best bet. Since DVD and universal accessibility is a target, that narrows it down to Video. So I would concur on After Effects and Premiere being used to produce the visual assets.

  • Using a flash animated header in iWeb, possible?

    Hey guys, I have a flash header that has some animations in it and was hoping I could use it in iWeb. After playing around, I can't figure it out.
    I have searched too, but only see how to add videos.
    Anyone know if I can actually import and use a flash header with animations in iweb?
    Thanks
    WaskMedia

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes you can. Just put the flash file on the server and link to it via an HTML snippet. This tutorial site, Artotems Flash in iWeb has a lot about that. I have a swf file (made with Pages 08) on thistest page that was embedded with an HTML Snippet and this code:
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
    codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#ve rsion=6,0,40,0"
    width="390" height="295"
    id="mymoviename">
    <param name="movie"
    value="http://homepage.mac.com/MMeAccountName/.Pictures/WelcomeTH4.swf"/>
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <PARAM name="CONTROLLER" VALUE="true">
    <embed src="" />
    <param" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff"
    width="390" height="295"
    name="mymoviename" align="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
    </embed>
    In this case I have the swf file in my iDisk's Pictures folder. If you'd like to put it in the Movies folder just change the .Pictures to .Movies.
    Artotems' site has other types of flash code you can use depending on your flash file.

  • Is Flash animation possible in iWeb?

    I've tried dragging .swf files I made in Keynote into iWeb, but they just show up in a movie player and not a self playing animation. It wouldn't even show the transitions I made. Has anyone figured out if it's even possible to add Flash?
    Maybe in March a Pro version of iWeb will debut along with the other new Universal Pro Apps. Here's hopin'. Other than that, iWeb is pretty dang cool.
    <http://web.mac.com/archstanton1862/iWeb/TrickRacing>

    I'm not privy to the details and deals made between Macromedia (now Adobe) that allowed QuickTime 4 play Flash version 3 formats. The QT 5 allowed version 4 of Flash. And, 6 allowed Flash 5. Seems they were always one version number behind.
    QuickTime 7 can't open Flash published higher than version 5, still. No version 6 support and nothing about Flash MX and newer versions (now up to 8, I believe).
    If you want to hide the movie controller (I do it all the time in my pages) just set the html code for controller="false" in both the object and embed tags.
    QuickTime also allows "progressive download" (a.k.a. Fast Start). Again, a simple html tag is all that is usually needed (autoplay="true") for this function to work.
    The feature of Flash animation that allows this speed is its use of "objects". Once created, they can be morphed into different shapes or reused without increasing file size. Video formats can't do that. And neither does your Keynote export even though it is in Flash file format.
    Vector graphics (scalable) are another Flash feature but QT can do some vector graphic formats (text files are an example).
    Flash files usually display quickly (small file size) and don't demand much on a CPU because of what they are. Nothing to do with the file content,
    Lastly, the Flash format was never intended for "video" formats. They don't do the colors (8 bit 256 colors is the normal limit of Flash) that most graphics now demand.
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/xmas/index.html
    One of mine from may years ago. Under 3MB's.
    Flash (and other tracks added using QT Pro) used. All in a .mov "wrapper".

  • Video quality is less than expected when playing inside Flash

    iam using flv video. i played it back in many ways , with flv player that comes with flash ,as embedded in the time line and using external class that use  NetStream ,the video quality was less than playing the same video  outside the flash invironment using any  stand  alone video player like media player classic .
    why is that happening , did i miss some thing ?
    is there a setting  that i should do to play hd video in high quality ?
    i have tried setting stage.quality to BEST but it didn't affect the video quality ?
    any help  ?

    can't I just change the "Easy Setup" settings so it would work without degrading the input and subsequently the output? Sorry, I don't quite grasp "fixed-resolution" yet so may be asking something that doesn't have an answer.
    FCE only works with certain presets available in the Easy Setup menu. If your footage isn't one of these resolutions then FCE will conform it to the sequence you have selected, downgrading the footage in the process. Final Cut Pro gives you the option to make a sequence set to the dimensions you want it to be, without worrying about whether your image matches a preset.

  • Crackling/substandard sound in flash videos (YouTube etc) regardless of video quality setting.

    Hi all,
    I hope you can help! Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, I'm struggling to find the best place to put this.
    1. a summary of your issue
    Crackling/substandard sound in flash videos (YouTube etc) regardless of video quality setting.
    2. the type of computer you use—Mac or PC?
    Desktop PC.
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, all updates installed.
    3. steps you've already taken to troubleshoot
    The problem occurs after installing Adobe Flash Player 15 Plugin to any browser (I mainly use FireFox). It's listed as Adobe Flash Player 15 ActiveX when I installed it for Internet Explorer.
    Before installing it, I can hear the videos fine but I am limited to a maximum of 720p quality on YouTube.
    I removed my sound and graphics drivers, after restart Windows 7 decides it will install them again but as the generic/universal ones. No change.
    I've heard that because I have the Windows Aero theme activated, I need to disable hardware acceleration - tried this in various ways:
    a) Generic PnP monitor Troubleshoot tab - Change Settings button is greyed out (whether or not I have the real/generic/universal graphics drivers installed). Can't find a way through nVidia control panel to do this either.
    b) Disabled hardware acceleration in FireFox - no change.
    c) Found on your forum here that I can go to a page which will check my Flash version, in theory I could right-click it, hit Settings and disable hardware acceleration there - no "Settings" option in right-click menu. Seems the page has changed.
    I can't seem to find a way to interface with Flash directly to disable hardware accelerattion - if this is indeed the solution.
    Regardless of Windows Aero theme, I've got it on basic theme now and still the same problem.
    I recently reformatted and re-installed my PC, it was working fine before I did this (maybe I had an old Flash release installed?).
    I'm at my wit's end... please help!

    Sorry, it's all sorted now. After re-installing the sound drivers, decided to tinker with the settings one by one. I had my Creative sound card in Game Mode, thus it was assuming 2.1 speakers aka headphones. Put it in Entertainment Mode and it recognised all the 5.1 speakers for flash videos. Doh!
