Video record date

version 6 of QT showed the original record date of a DV file in the properties box but version 7 doesn't. Is there a way of retrieving this information in version 7?
Tx

Hi Robert,
Welcome to Sony Community!
Yes, However, the date and time are not displayed while shooting. They are displayed only during playback. Make sure that the date and time are set in the Camera before recording. Information about setting date and time is mentioned on page#56 of the Handbook.

  • How can I save captured clips to hard disk using the actual video recorded date, not the date I transferred it?

    When using Batch capture in AP5.5, the clips are saved to hard disk using the capture date as the Created Date and Modified Date.  How do I configure Premier to use the actual clips recorded date (Meta Data Basic/Date Created) so that I can view them in Windows folders and other applications based on the date the video was recorded, not when I imported it.

    AFAIK, there's no way to do that with Premiere Pro.  You can probably find a utility on the Internet that will change the dates for you after the fact.

  • View video clip recording date in PRE7?

    Hello,
    The recording date information of video clips is embedded in my AVI-file but how can I view it in PRE7?
    There must be a better solution than to open the file in my old software (Pinnacle) where this information can be found easily.
    The video was captured through firewire from a digital camcorder (DV).
    Cheers

    Hans,
    I do not use the Organizer, so do not know all of its power and limitations, but think that you should have the Metadata available there. Depending on the camera used, that should contain the shooting date, provided that the calender and clock were set on it. Does that not work with this footage?
    I feel your pain, as I had to transfer 34 VHS tapes for editing a series of DVD's for the client. Luckily, his VHS camcorder started each scene with a Date/Time imprint. Now, this was often edited out, when I did the post-production work, but I would just look at the 'master" Clip, jot down that info, and then Title with it, say "Liz & Page Christmas 1985." As I transferred, I also made a shot log with all dates, plus notes on each scene, so I had much of that stuff already. Obviously, there was no Metadata in these to use, but many cameras do have that info now. Do not know all of the situations where it might not be accessible, or by which programs.
    Good luck, and maybe some Organizer "power-user" can fill in the blanks for us both.

    PS - Adobe is very lenient with mention of other programs, even direct competitors' apps. They seem fully committed to allowing the user the best possible experience, even if it means picking up a copy of ______. Most of us have all sorts of NLE's, and utilities in those "toolboxes." While I do use mostly Adobe programs, I have many others too. Some are highly specialized, and only get trotted out once per year. A few others see much more use, but even then, that usage pales to my use of Adobe products.

  • Digital Video Recorder with Firewire 400 and new iMac

    I just got a new iMac which has only 1 firewire800 and no firewire 400 ports. My digital video camcorder has a firewire 400 cable to transfer taped recordings to the computer (I want to import using iMovie 09). So, do I simply need to buy a new firewire 800 cable that will plug into my digital camcorder? The reason I'm hesitant is that I've tried using a USB connection, and iMovie 09 didn't open and doesn't recognize that the digital camcorder is connected when I use USB. Does iMovie 09 just no longer recognize my several year old Samsung digital camcorder, or does it just not recognize it with a USB connection, and it will be fine if I get a firewire 800 connection that fits the new iMac? Is there another type of converter--e.g., a cable that allows a firewire 400 to plug in on one end and has the firewire 800 connection on the other end?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and got a new cable and now I can plug for digital video camcorder into my new Mac. Unfortunately, as I feared, the Mac still doesn't recognize the camcorder. I checked the system profiler with the camcorder plugged in, and under Firewire Bus it reads Unknown Device:
    FireWire Bus:
    Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec
    Unknown Device:
    Manufacturer: 0xF0
    Model: Unknown
    GUID: 0xF000FFFFFFFF
    Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
    Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
    Sub-units:
    Unknown Unit:
    Unit Software Version: 0x10001
    Unit Spec ID: 0xA02D
    Am I just out of luck--the new mac just doesn't recognize my slightly out of date digital video recorder? Or should I be able to get a driver to make it work?

  • Video Recording.

    Hi all,
    I am programming a part of recording video from the integrated camera.
    The following is the code:
    try {
    Player p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
    p.realize();
    RecordControl rc = (RecordControl)p.getControl("RecordControl");
    ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    rc.setRecordStream(output);
    rc.startRecord();
    p.start();
    Thread.currentThread().sleep(5000);
    rc.commit();
    p.close();
    byte[]data=output.toByteArray(); //GET BYTE ARRAY.
    ============================
    try
    fc = (FileConnection) Connector.open("file:///E:/Video/"+"newVideo.mp4" ); fc.create();
    os = fc.openOutputStream();
    os.write(data);
    os.close();
    fc.close();
    catch (IOException e)
    =====================
    I have tried and I works on my hand phone (N95). However the problem is that:
    _ I dont know how to show video while recording
    _I just simply create a mp4 video from byte[] variable, not sure it is correct or not. And the video resolution is very low (about 120*120).*
    The video quality is very poor while recording video using Nokia program the quality is much better.
    SO any one can help me? THanks in advance.

    Btw, I continue..
    In this link: http://209.85.175.104/search?q=cache:bTylDUTfWBcJ:mobilezoo.biz/nokia_N95_specs+video+record+n95+j2me&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=8&gl=sg
    It says that N95 can encode video in 3 formats: mp4, 3gpp2,gpp. I wonder how? I just can record and output is byte[] data, after that I just create a mp4 file.
    I wonder how to encode in different format and what is benefit of doing so?

  • Lumia 820 video recording fail

    l've checked everywhere for forums discussing this absolutly appauling oversight of the 820. I've tested 3 phones and they all have the same problem, which l'm starting to feel is a fault in all of them. Problem is this, the video recording will not save files longer then 10 minutes.
    Yep.
    Without a warning it will just decide not to save your video, even on the lowest settings, it will just randomly crash and you are left with nothing to show for it. What nokia? what is this oversight? you expect to catch up to samsung and apple when you can't even make a phone record more then 10 minutes?
    So to anyone wanting a smartphone that can record something more then a gif, look elsewhere.

    hi mate,
    no such problems with my 920. have you checked that you have the latest Portico update for Windows Phone 8 downloaded and installed already? you can check under Settings > Phone Update. meanwhile, also check that you are fully up to date with all the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store.
    if the above fails, try performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates). i would also check that if you are saving recorded videos onto a microSD card, that the card is in good working order with other devices etc.

  • ISight video recording became limited to 15 fps?

    From time to time I record videos with my built-in iSight camera. I used to do it using iMovie, then Quicktime and Photobooth lately.
    However, I noticed that frame rate in all my recent recordings do not exceed 15fps. Photobooth does the worst job -- it records at 7-10 fps, Quicktime 7 records at 12-13 fps, iMovie -- at 15 fps. I even changed iMovie video recording settings to NTSC to achieve 30 fps, but -- no luck. Stuck at 15 fps.
    I have tonns of my earlier recordings done at 30 fps. I don't know when exactly it happend, but I believe around the time I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
    Is there a way of getting iSight recording back to 30 fps?
    Thanks,
    Eugene

    Welcome to Discussions, Eugene (edugaev)
    You seem like an experienced user, so I will give you some suggestions for your consideration while you troubleshoot your problem. Once you have found the root cause of the trouble, even if it is not automatically resolved, you will have identified what needs to be fixed. If you need clarification or help on any of the following suggestions, I will try to offer more details in response to your specifics.
    (1) You are wise to continue test with multiple apps to see if the problem is system wide or application specific. Before continuing, I suggest you also test in another user account to eliminate the possibility that this issue is user-specific.
    (2) Try turning on some more the light. The idea for this came from the fact that Apple's article entitled Sight's video "stutters" in low light when I turn it on
      http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2264
    says iSight reduces frame rate in low light.
    More info: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3097
    (3) Be sure you have not increased processor loads with File Vault, multiple applications in a new workflow, or added Login Items. Also, with "tonns of ... earlier recordings", be certain you are not running short of free space on your disk.
    (4) If nothing there leads to a fix, because you think the issue began upgrading you Mac OS, if you use third party hardware that requires software installation (mouse, keyboard, A/V interface, etc.,) or software (including Microsoft Office or Exchange, plugins such as Perian, Flip4Mac, etc.,) check their support sites to see if any of them have known-issues with 10.6.2.
    Perhaps you merely need to update the software or drivers in order for your third-party system components to be compatible with 10.6.2
    Uninstall any that are currently known to be incompatible with your system.
    (5) If your problem persists and your system has no third-party components, or at least none that require updating for OS X 10.6.2, backup all important data and apply the 10.6.2 Combo Update (with permissions repairs before AND after the update).
    Then test whether your problem persists.
    (6) If your problem persists, reinstall Snow Leopard. Be sure to repair permissions before and after installing.
    Once you have reinstalled SL and apply the latest current Combo Updater with permissions repairs between each step and after updating.)
    Do not reinstall any third-party apps until you have tested your iSight's function. When iSight is working properly again, you can reinstall your third-party apps again, Install only one third party app at a time, and test it thoroughly before installing another so you can tell if one of them causes problems with your system.
    (7) If the problem persists, the problem may be caused by a software problem outside the Mac&OS that you cannot find. Then only fix I know for that is to zero your disk and do a clean install of SL to see if you can resolve the problem yourself before seeking help from an Apple  Service Provider.

  • How can i request the actual time code of digital video recorder, i am using RS232 interface for asking actual time code of digital video recording

    how can i request the actual time code of digital video recorder, i am using RS232 interface for asking actual time code of digital video recording

    If you have an RS-232 interface to the digital video recorder, it may be that you can send a command to the video recorder in order to get the time code sent back to your application - you would then read this as a string and then incorporate this data into your program.
    The best source of help will be any documentation you have relating to the serial (RS-232) interface with the digital video recorder. This documentation should have commands that you can send to the recorder and expected response strings that you should get back from the device. This task should be straightforward but can often be frustrating without documentation about the video recorder. This will not be something that you can "guess" - past experience in writing serial communication ap
    plications has shown that a good manual is your best friend.
    Failing this if you have any source code for example programs that have already been written to communicate with the recorder, you might be able to extract the relevant ASCII strings and use them within your application. This is true whether you are using LabVIEW or a text-based language.

  • Original video file date changes when imported

    When I import video files, the date of the original source file gets changed to the date of my importing it.
    Premiere Pro CS4 never did that. Why is CS5.5 changing the date of the source file ??
    steve

    Hi Todd, --
    I think you are saying my 'write xmp id to files on import' must be turned ON somehow. I did not do that, so if it is turned ON, it must be ON by default ?
    It was both 'date created' AND 'date modified' that were being changed to the date of import.
    Ok, I found that. It is turned ON by default, I turned it OFF. I also turned OFF the next one too - 'enable clip and xmp metadata linking'.
    I just did a test import, and the 'date modified' of the video files on the hard drive has not changed. Thank you.  VERY MUCH.
    But, I have other problems too, with PP, and video file dates.
    There's a 'date created' and a 'date modified' for video files. Plus, with Windows 7, there's a few more dates - 'date of content' etc.
    My original untouched video file dates do not make any sense. 'Date Modified' is showing the date the video files were recorded. 'Date Created' is showing the date I copied the video files from the camera stick to the hard drive.
    That makes no sense. They should be the reverse.
    Why why why after 30 some odd years have the computer engineers NEVER made video files dates the same as digital photo files, with 'Date Taken'.
    Also,
    I have multiple cameras. For each event or trip or whatever I often take several 1,000 photos and videos. It's an absolute necessity to be able to mass import chronologically. The only way I can integrate / import them all in chronological order is by Date originally Taken, and then immediately drag all the files to the timeline while they are still all collectively highlighted in the order I just imported them all by date.
    PP only allows for imports by 'date taken' for photos and 'date modified' for video files. And, if I don't immediately drag the imported files to the timeline while they are all still highlighted without doing anything else first, the bin window re-arranges them all by filename, and there is no way to later re-arrange them by dates.
    This is extremely aggravating and impossible to work with for my need to import then later work with multiple-source recorded files chronologically.
    All these 'date' problems for video files really totally screws that.

  • Video recording to PVR

    I have just bought my first ever Iphone, the Iphone 6+ the video recording... it seems great, the device, it has no expandable memory as known, no removable memory as known, I have 64gb... plenty to my needs if I was doing what I used to do.
    We can take brilliant quality videos and photos on these devices, yet it seems to me that it's extremely hard to transfer them to DVD to keep them forever? Of course if we're taking top quality photos we will never want to delete them, and should not have to keep them on a computer. My old way of doing things was incredibly easy, I plugged a video cable into the speaker port and it mirrored exactly what was on the phone! This enabled me to very easily transfer phone videos to my PVR with built in hard drive, to the hard drive and then edit from there, cutting out what was not needed.
    The Iphone it seems very hard to take videos of the phone to keep? the devices are memory limited and of course data will need to come off them at some point, why record things though if they cannot be kept?
    I cannot record to PVR anymore it seems? there is no support for the yellow video cable? I plugged my red/white/yellow cable in from my old phone and I can here the audio playing through the recorder but no video showing. I cannot do this via HD as the PVR does not pick up via HD it has to be via scart.
    It seems my only option would be to get the videos off the phone, then convert them into a DVD format? then transfer them onto DVD, a lot more messing around for something that really should be made simple, there should be no issue with copying videos to my PVR from my personal collection, I own that copyright but it seems a signal maybe picked up on either way even if I could play via HD which would stop the recording going ahead.
    To transfer to DVD from computer, I have never really done that, it would be hard to figure out as well, and I would either need to record the full DVD space everytime on each video or waste space by having to finalize the DVD?
    My first Iphone, very impressed with the video quality which is like it was seen through my actual eyes all over again, but as for transferring the videos of the phone to keep on DVD, surely it must be able to be done, and easier than the only current ways I can think of doing it, I mean come on it's rather clear people will want to permanently keep their videos, or why go to the effort of recording them in the first place?
    Thank you

  • Poor video recording quality with Presenter 9

    I'm trialling Presenter 9 and Captivate 7.
    I have a Compaq CQ61-320SA latop with a 2.2 Ghz dual core processor and 8 Gb RAM. It's 3 or 4 years old. The Display Adaptor entry in Device Manager says it has Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Microsoft) and the driver is up to date. (I should say that HP's product spec page for my laptop says that 'Video Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G which confuses me as Device manager is listing it as Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family?)
    When I record full screen in Presenter (it seems you are restricted to full screen recording in Presenter, unlike in Captivate), the resulting MP4 is rendered in high quality. The fonts in the video look nice and sharp. However, if I import the video into Powerpoint with the Adobe Presenter add in and then publish it to a folder on my PC with the 'lossless' setting and then click on the file 'index.html' the playback quality in my browser (Internet Explorer 11) is much lower. The fonts look 'blocky'.
    I don't think it can be PC specification because if I record full screen in Captivate 7 and import the MP4 file into a new project and publish it, the quality of the published slide is great. (Again, I click on  the 'index.html' file to play the published video).
    Does this mean that Presenter is not as good as Captivate in terms of its video recording quality? Are the encoding engines different?
    I love the webcam PIP functionality and simplicity of Presenter but the seemingly low video quality versus Captivate is an issue for me.
    Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.
    Peter

    After playing with Presenter more, I've come to the conclusion that the degradation in quality from the original MP4 video file (that Presenter generates with its video creator tool) to the reduced quality after importing the MP4 into PowerPoint and publishing the course to HTML is probably due to a scaling issue. I've read elsewhere on this forum and on the Camtasia forum that whenever you re-scale a video, you lose clarity. The fact is that Presenter only allows recording of the entitre screen. When you import a full screen recording into a PowerPoint slide, because the slide itself is of a size lower than full screen, the original full screen dimension in the video is scaled down.
    I'm thinking that the higher specification graphics card in the new laptop I talked about in the previous post produces a higher quality MP4 video in the first place so that the effect of the scaling down when imported into PowerPoint is more acceptable.
    Any comments?
    Peter

  • Video Recorder Sound Issue

    Hi all,
    Not sure if my gripe is with my phone or this is a design/production flaw with the phone but when I use the video recorder, the sound is prett lame. I tried a couple times recording my TV and the playback is almost inaudible. Is this normal? I have the volume of the TV to "normal" that's at a comfortable level when I have the TV on and I know this is all relative, but you'll have to trust me when I have it at a comfortable level where anyone who does not have an ear issue can easily hear.

    I just did a security wipe and removed all my data and it got stuck on the tutorial page right before you can actually use your playbook. I than held down the volume + and - and power  key. To reset the Tablet and every now works
    My issue is solved I think, hope this helps anyone having a similiar problems.
    Also, if anyone has any ideas why this is happening I would be curious to know.

  • Problem with video recorder

    i have nokia asha 200 . Whenever i try to use its video recorder...my phone gets switched off

    Hi appleak,
    Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
    Are you using the pre-installed app or a third party app? If it is a third party app, where did you get it? Is it from the Nokia Store?
    If it's a third party application, try to uninstall and reinstall the application. If you have downloaded it from the Nokia Store, you can still redownload it provided that you still have download credits and it is not more than 1 year since the date of purchase. To redownload, go to Nokia Store, sign in your account and then go to My Stuff.
    If it's a pre-installed application, try to reboot the phone. Turn off the phone, remove the battery and wait for a few seconds. Return the battery to its place and switch it on. If the issue remains, you can try to restore the phone back to its factory settings. For instructions, see the userguide;
    http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_200_UG_en.pdf
    *The default code is 12345 unless otherwise changed.
    If the issue remains, you can check for available updates using the Nokia Suite: www.nokia.com/nokiasuite If there's no update available, you can try to reinstall it by clicking on the word "reinstall"
    If the above troubleshooting stepds did not work, you can format the device. This will wipe all the data on the phone including your personal files, so make sure to create a backup file. To format the phone, dial *#7370#.
