Video recording format

From what I see, the video gets recorded in .mov format. Does Iphone 4 record video in any other format? I see it supports other formats for playback.

of course, once you download the video to your computer, you can convert it to other formats

  • Video recording format question ...

    I'm sanity checking how I record video for 2013.   I have no issues buying a new camera if recommended.   In this case I'm referring to recording "home movies" - a kid's birthday party, spring break trip, band concert, etc.  My intended target is to watch on a big screen TV via Blu-ray disc, streaming to a PS3, occassional playback on a computer.    My current consumer camcorder records in 1080/60p, 1080/60i, and 1080/24p.  I have seen other consumer camcorders offering 1080/30p.
    I will also have some footage shot on a Droid phone in 1080/30p, although that amount of video will be minor in comparison; I just mention in case of minor influence on an opinion.  And by "streaming" on my PS3 I mean playback of a compatible format file via a DLNA server without transcoding on the fly.   Presently the PS3 can play all the formats as far as I know.  I've been shooting in 1080/60i.
    What recording format would you recommend?

    Even though it's not a supported bluray format, I'd record at 60p. Converting from 60p to 60i is a really easy process, each field has more data than it needs as a full frame is recorded for each one, so there is no quality lost, and having that extra data gives you a lot more options if you want to do slow mo shots.
    The reason some cameras are recording at 30p even though it's not part of the bluray spec is that a 60i signal made from a 30p source is effectively 30p. It just plays each frame twice as fields, rather than two different fields as would happen with an interlaced clip.

  • Iphone video recording format

    i have the new iphone 4 an ive been recording videos an what not, the videos look very good when i view them on my iphone but when i send the videos to other people including iphone users the videos look very blurry. I was wondering if theres a setting of some sort that you have to fix like with other phones where it lets u record for mms etc?

    A video sent with any cell phone via MMS is significantly compressed by the carrier. SMS/MMS are exchanged over the same network as calls.
    A video sent via email is also compressed, but not as much as when sending via MMS.
    There is no video recording setting for MMS or for anything else. There is no option to change the quality of a video captured with the iPhone and there is no way to change the compression of a video sent via MMS.

  • Video Recording.

    Hi all,
    I am programming a part of recording video from the integrated camera.
    The following is the code:
    try {
    Player p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
    p.realize();
    RecordControl rc = (RecordControl)p.getControl("RecordControl");
    ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    rc.setRecordStream(output);
    rc.startRecord();
    p.start();
    Thread.currentThread().sleep(5000);
    rc.commit();
    p.close();
    byte[]data=output.toByteArray(); //GET BYTE ARRAY.
    ============================
    try
    fc = (FileConnection) Connector.open("file:///E:/Video/"+"newVideo.mp4" ); fc.create();
    os = fc.openOutputStream();
    os.write(data);
    os.close();
    fc.close();
    catch (IOException e)
    =====================
    I have tried and I works on my hand phone (N95). However the problem is that:
    _ I dont know how to show video while recording
    _I just simply create a mp4 video from byte[] variable, not sure it is correct or not. And the video resolution is very low (about 120*120).*
    The video quality is very poor while recording video using Nokia program the quality is much better.
    SO any one can help me? THanks in advance.

    Btw, I continue..
    In this link: http://209.85.175.104/search?q=cache:bTylDUTfWBcJ:mobilezoo.biz/nokia_N95_specs+video+record+n95+j2me&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=8&gl=sg
    It says that N95 can encode video in 3 formats: mp4, 3gpp2,gpp. I wonder how? I just can record and output is byte[] data, after that I just create a mp4 file.
    I wonder how to encode in different format and what is benefit of doing so?

  • Video recording Blackberry 8900 resolution

    Recently bought an 8900 curve as an upgrade to my contract and it says on the Blackberry website that the 8900 curve records video at 480x352 resolution. Looking in the options on video recorder the most I can set it to is 240x180. I have noticed that the videos recorded are .3gp format. Is it possible to record at the higher resolution on this device? It's part of the reason why I went for it in the first place.

    I would also like a response from RIM regarding this issue. Pre-release models of the Curve 8900 had a camera capable of at least 320 x 240 resolution video capture, but the official release models are limited to 240 x 180. Why?

  • 4k video recording and microSD card speed

    Hello, I am currently trying to find what microSD card type Xperia Z2 needs to shoot 4k videos smoothly. Is UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) card with about 30 MB/s writing speed enough to shoot 4k videos with no problems at all? I am just asking if Sandisk Ultra series are enough and should I bother with Sandisk Extreme for example with 45 MB/s writing speed or with Xperia Z2 4k video recording I won't see any difference?

    sandisk shows better compatibility with xperias
    also beside of writing speed you must format your sd card with "exFAT" format,caues of 4GB writing limit

  • Video recorded in QT Pro-compatible with FCP?

    Is a video recorded in QT Pro compatible with FCP?
    I was getting errors earlier today importing QT video clips recorded in QT Pro.
    FCP said "unknown file type" and wouldn't import it.
    I tried different decks, different footage, all to no avail.
    Drag and drop, file>Import, neither worked.
    I never tried this before and was surprised.
    It's not that it needed rendering, it just wouldn't import.
    QT was set to use the native format of the recording device.
    FCP was set to DV NTSC easy set up.
    OS 10.4.7, QT 7.1.2, FCP 5.0.4.
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Now this is strange.
    I just downloaded Live Capture Plus to try it out.
    It captures the same tape from the same deck with the same settings as I tried in QT.
    Imports perfectly into FCP 5.1.1 No problems whatsoever.
    Both clips have identical settings in the info pane of QT Pro:
    DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
    16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
    29.97
    640 x 480 pixels
    Yet the QT clip will not import into FCP with an "unknown file" error.
    Why?
    Thanks
    Richard

  • Black Magic Video USB Video Recorder H.264 Encoding

    Quick question for you smart folks.  Will the BlackMagic USB Video Recorder c/w H.264 code work with FLME for MAC?
    It states it works for iTunes, iPod, iPhone YouTube etc etc......but really would like to know if it will work with FMLE 3.2 Mac
    Appreciate the help
    KC

    The reason why the Blackmagic H.264 Recorder doesn't work - is that FMLE is looking for RAW uncompressed video.  Lots of USB devices are encoding the output signal into MPEG 2 and other formats that FMLE and Windows Media Encoder 9/Expression Encoder 4 don't understand or can't decode.
    Those using Livestream.com's service, their encoding application (without FMLE in the middle) will see the output of of the Blackmagic H.264 Recorder.

  • Video recording to PVR

    I have just bought my first ever Iphone, the Iphone 6+ the video recording... it seems great, the device, it has no expandable memory as known, no removable memory as known, I have 64gb... plenty to my needs if I was doing what I used to do.
    We can take brilliant quality videos and photos on these devices, yet it seems to me that it's extremely hard to transfer them to DVD to keep them forever? Of course if we're taking top quality photos we will never want to delete them, and should not have to keep them on a computer. My old way of doing things was incredibly easy, I plugged a video cable into the speaker port and it mirrored exactly what was on the phone! This enabled me to very easily transfer phone videos to my PVR with built in hard drive, to the hard drive and then edit from there, cutting out what was not needed.
    The Iphone it seems very hard to take videos of the phone to keep? the devices are memory limited and of course data will need to come off them at some point, why record things though if they cannot be kept?
    I cannot record to PVR anymore it seems? there is no support for the yellow video cable? I plugged my red/white/yellow cable in from my old phone and I can here the audio playing through the recorder but no video showing. I cannot do this via HD as the PVR does not pick up via HD it has to be via scart.
    It seems my only option would be to get the videos off the phone, then convert them into a DVD format? then transfer them onto DVD, a lot more messing around for something that really should be made simple, there should be no issue with copying videos to my PVR from my personal collection, I own that copyright but it seems a signal maybe picked up on either way even if I could play via HD which would stop the recording going ahead.
    To transfer to DVD from computer, I have never really done that, it would be hard to figure out as well, and I would either need to record the full DVD space everytime on each video or waste space by having to finalize the DVD?
    My first Iphone, very impressed with the video quality which is like it was seen through my actual eyes all over again, but as for transferring the videos of the phone to keep on DVD, surely it must be able to be done, and easier than the only current ways I can think of doing it, I mean come on it's rather clear people will want to permanently keep their videos, or why go to the effort of recording them in the first place?
    Thank you

  • Problem with video recorder

    i have nokia asha 200 . Whenever i try to use its video recorder...my phone gets switched off

    Hi appleak,
    Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
    Are you using the pre-installed app or a third party app? If it is a third party app, where did you get it? Is it from the Nokia Store?
    If it's a third party application, try to uninstall and reinstall the application. If you have downloaded it from the Nokia Store, you can still redownload it provided that you still have download credits and it is not more than 1 year since the date of purchase. To redownload, go to Nokia Store, sign in your account and then go to My Stuff.
    If it's a pre-installed application, try to reboot the phone. Turn off the phone, remove the battery and wait for a few seconds. Return the battery to its place and switch it on. If the issue remains, you can try to restore the phone back to its factory settings. For instructions, see the userguide;
    http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_200_UG_en.pdf
    *The default code is 12345 unless otherwise changed.
    If the issue remains, you can check for available updates using the Nokia Suite: www.nokia.com/nokiasuite If there's no update available, you can try to reinstall it by clicking on the word "reinstall"
    If the above troubleshooting stepds did not work, you can format the device. This will wipe all the data on the phone including your personal files, so make sure to create a backup file. To format the phone, dial *#7370#.
    Let us know the outcome.

  • Improved 4K Video Recording and Stereo Speaker Ringing

    Hai Sony Support,
                                    Hi i have bought Sony Xperia Z2 from India 2 days before and im really happy about the phone. I have few suggestions that i like to share.  Loaded Android 4.4.2 _Version 17.1.1.A.0.402
    Stereo speakers active when ringing
    More better algorithm to make the images more sharper. now the image looks more processed. also in front camera
    Touch focusing during 4K and all Video Recording options. The autofocus feature tends to focus all the time if something moves in the frame.
    Option to record 4K @ 24 FPS Format. That will help people like us to use the phone in film productions that also helps in promotions of the phone.
    Make little changes in the algorithm to make the videos lot sharper, sometimes 4K and other video formats looks over processed.
    Really happy with the Xperia Z2 and the feautures that having

    if over processed stuff if fixed the still images and video will look stunting

  • Screen Video Recording

    I'm looking for a utility to do screen video recording. So far I've tried ScreenMovie, Screenography, SnapZ, and Screen Mimic. They all record OK, but they're all terribly slow when rendering to a mov file. A 30-second video of a 1024 x 768 screen takes over 2 minutes in all of them.
    Coming from the Windows world I'm used to just recording and saving videos as avi files without any delays. The video courses I produce usually have at least 300 clips, so 2 minutes each just isn't going to cut it.
    Anybody know of a product or a file format that produces faster rendering?

    If you have a Mac running OS X 10.10 Yosemite, and you have an iPad with the lighting connector cable, you can record the iPad screen using QuickTime. See item #12 on this website.
    http://fieldguide.gizmodo.com/17-things-you-can-do-in-os-x-yosemite-that-you-cou ldnt-1648399541
    I know of no other way to record the screen.

  • Play video recorded on iPhone3GS?

    Airplay on my iPhone 3GS works for photos but not does not seem to be available for video recorded on my iPhone. Airplay is available for videos synced with my iTunes library, its just the video recorded on the actual phone that seems to not have an Airplay option. Any know how to get phone shot video to work?

    Hey there Tony,
    From what I've been reading, photos shot directly on iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 do not support Airplay playback. The reasoning seems to be that Apple TV supports maximum playback of video at a bitrate of 5Mbps while videos shot on the iPhone record at 10 to 11 Mbps.
    So you may have to transfer your video to your PC or Mac, use software to compress the video into a 5Mbps mp4 or mpeg-4 format then transfer that video back in your iPhone. That's my understanding.
    It's a pain the *** I know but hopefully it can fixed somehow in a future update. Airplay is definitely a version 1.0 product so I'm confident it will improve over time.
