Video Recording Slide - SWF Playing Randomly

Hi We are making a training containing just video recorded slides. The training is for users who are new visitors to a website. SO all slides are video recorded and separate audio files are embedded on each slide.
However, when we publish a SWF + HTML (our standard publishing practice) - we get three playable files in the folder i.e. one SWF and two firefox HTML files (XYZ firefox HTML document and the other XYZ_fs Firefox HTML document).
However, on playing these files the published video is playing randomly.  Sometimes, the video would get stuck at the first slide with the audio continuing normally.  In some cases, the scrolling doesnt happen (has been done in the recording)
What could be the problem?

Ok great - I'll check the preferences.
I actually found a sort of semi-solution to my orginal problem. I found that if I insert a recording slide (as opposed to recording a demo and then inserting the mp4) that this forces the progress bar to reflect the length of the slide (which is also the length of the video) so this is a pretty good workaround.
The only problem now is that if someone clicks a slide title in the table of contents, it goes to that slide, plays through but then automatically jumps to the next slide and that video starts. I found that if I choose "Pause" on the "On enter" action then that will work, however it means that they have to manually click the play button when they get to the slide they want to go to.
So just as a final question, is there a way to pause the slide at the end of the video?

  • Do different recorded slide resolutions cause an imported FLV Video to Play incorrectly?

I’ve been working on a project involving many captivate files with flv videos inserted into slides I made the slides in Photoshop, I had the same type of project last year with the same client and had similar problems with the flv videos just not running or not running correctly, sometimes cutting off early.  This time using Captivate 4 I’m having problems with the videos playing through fine but then stopping and not continuing onto the next slide.  To even further complicate this sometimes in preview the video will play and then advance to the next slide and then after publishing the files and playing them they stop advancing and you have to select the play button to continue the presentation.
The setup for these video slides:
Edit the video in avid and export to After Effects.
Process the video in AE adding titles, keying, and exporting using render cue to FLV files
Process and Import the Photoshop slide into Captivate
Set the properties of the PS slide to; on slide enter; continue, on slide exit; advance to next slide.
Import the flv video at 640x480, skin = none, auto play auto rewind, Options = rest of slide, pause slide till end of video.
What I think I found and at least it is working again is, during the recording session with the various business managers while demonstrating their applications they would sometime resize their screens, so instead of recording at 1024x768 they would stop recording and change their screen resolution to 1032x774, to complicate this even further they were all operating their software applications using remote desktops.
I finally imported the slides into Captivate that were recorded at 1032x774 and resized them to 1024x768 during import and kept my resolution the same throughout the problem was resolved and the project played fine so far. The biggest problem I had was with a slide that fell between two slie sizes even though Captivate resized the slides on import and I resized the slide for the project resolution the Video FLV movie slide would play and then stop. I hope I’m making sense with this and I apologize if I’m not.
Is a recorded constant screen resolution critical when editing a captivate presentation and if so why? Is there a way to correct a slide problem in hypertext to force a slide to advance, and if so what program would accomplish this.  Thanks in advance.

  • Adobe Media Server failing to record video if switched from play to record midstream

The Adobe Media Server is failing to record video if switched from play to record midstream. It is an intermittent issue that happens randomly one out of every 30 attempts.
Flash Runtime: Flash Player ActiveX 11.7.700.169 or Flash Player ActiveX 11.4.402.287
    Media Server: AMS5.0.1, also FMS4.5.5
(The problem happens on both FMS4.5.5 and AMS5.0.1)
    The ActionScript is as follows:
    netstreamRoger.publish("719_Client","play");
    Then 1 second later:
    netstreamRoger.publish("719_Client","record");
netstreamRoger is streaming out the video and audio data correctly, because there is another computer playing the stream 719_Client live. So the media server is forwarding the stream correctly when live. The bug is when you attempt to playback 719_Client.flv the file does not contain any video data. The file size is not zero, and the file is not corrupted, but the file size is smaller than it would be if it had saved the video in it.
How do I submit this bug to the Media Server team, and how can I workaround this issue?

  • Multi-Slide Synchronized Video Working in SWF - but not HTML5

We have a module that has 8 slides that contain Multi-Slide Synchronized Videos, each of which are contained on 1 slide (as seen in the screen shot.)
When we publish the project, the swf version works fine. However, the first html5 video shows up, then none of the others do.
We first tried inserting the video as an "Event Video" but when we tried that, in html5 there were no controllers at all for the in-slide video. This breaks our spec because the client needs cross browser and mobile device combatability.
Any clues as to why the video isn't even appearing after the first slide in html5?

No controllers showing here either. Controllers show and work in preview mode, but when publishing to Html5 then playing on Ipad, video in slide plays once, but now controls visible...can't pause. stop or rewind...

  • I have the apple univeral dock and AV cables and   can play videos and slide shows on my TV but not music How do I play the music

I am trying to connect an IPOD classic to my TV to play music
I have the dock and AV cables and can play videos and slide shows but not music

Actually, i figured part of it out. When I'm playing itunes to my Apple Tv and Airport Express stations around the house, then turn on the mirroring, the itunes volume bar goes all the way to zero. I can bring it back up manually, and it will play on Apple TV, but it won't broadcast to multiple Airport Express speakers, the way it was doing before I turned on mirroring. It seems that mirroring turns off the airport express stations.

  • Help!! video clips won't play in slide show

I have a 40 minute Aperture slide show presentation that contains a few video clips (time-lapse videos, etc). It played well last summer. However, now that I am about to present the show tomorrow I can't get the video clips in the show to play. They have all been located and connected to the original files. If I double click on individual video clips they will play in the browser window but they won't play in my slide show. Any ideas? I'm in panic mode!

What happened since last yoear? Have you reinstalled the system at some point? Maybe you had last year additional video codecs installed? Flip4Mac, Perian?
Do your videos play in QuickTime Player, when your export them to the DeskTop?
Are your videos iPhone videos? In that case you may have a problem with
Also, if you recently run a cleaner utility that cleared the caches, you now may have a missing  com.apple.xpchelper.cache in /System/Library/Caches .
This has been known to cause videos from stopping to play. This file will only be recreated by reinstalling MacOS X, but you can force its recreation by a Terminal command.  See:

  • I need to play back a video-recording i have taken myself and have it show the time count in seconds on the play back. Can you help?

I need to play back a video-recording that I have taken myself and have it show the time counter in secs/minutes in the playback. Can anyone help?

the movie editing app "Avid Studio" displays a time counter, as does the Pinnacle editing app.  Oddly enough, I movie does not.  (unless I have it somehow turned off.)

  • Is there any way to PAUSE/RESUME the actual recording while recording a Video Demo slide in Captivate 8?

If I have to take an "off-screen" action while recording a video demo slide in Captivate I am forced to END and start a separate video demo to continue.
This fragments my demo and seems an unnecessary set of steps.
Is there a way to pause the recording for long enough, say to clear my throat, and then resume?
    Thanks.

  • Problem: Video on slide one continues to play and can be heard in the background, even after the user has navigated to another slide.

Problem: Video on slide one continues to play in the background, even after user has navigated to another slide.  This only happens on a fresh reload of the page.
Has anyone else had this problem, or found a solution?
If you refresh the page and start over, the problem doesn't happen.  But on the first page load it always seems to happen.
Here is a link to the module I am working with.  If you let the video play for a couple seconds on the first slide, and then click a navigation link to another slide, you will still hear the audio from the first slide playing.

To clarify - this happens in both IE and Chrome, and is the Flash version of the content.

  • SWF Movie Randomly Plays In I.E.

Good Morning from Rainy Seattle Washington. I like water, but this is getting ridiculous up here. Anyways, I'm designing a web site for a client, and he would like to have just a simple flash movie with photos displayed when the site loads. I created a SWF file, tested it locally, tested it in Firefox, and then tested it in I.E. The problem is simply that sometimes the movie will LOAD and play in I.E., and sometimes it will not. Sometimes multiple refreshes are needed to make it load and play. Firefox and Safari appear to play it fine, but I am not confident putting it up there for the world to see, especially those with the I.E. as their default browser.
Here's the code for the Flash movie.
        <object id="FlashID" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="1000" height="400">

The ugly thing in all of this is sometimes it plays and loads, and sometimes it does not in I.E. Here's the website url: www.alaskacharter.com/beta1.html. I have researched this online off and on for the last couple of weeks, and tried different things such as unloading my shock player add-on and then reloading it.... but alas, nothing has got it to come up each time. The randomness of this is starting to bug me.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    glenn

    Hi Glenn,
Send some rain down south will you?  We could sure use some in So. Calif.
FYI the SWF plays OK in Firefox and IE6. But from where I sit, your page is simply too heavy. Browsers are going to choke on it.  I think it will work reliably if you optimize images more to cut down on file size.
    Example, your background image
    http://www.alaskacharter.com/lighthouse_flash.gif
is 475.75 KB.  That's huge.  You can do better.  Try saving file as jpg instead of gif.
Your Shockwave file is 2,377.77 KB.  If you optimize images before inserting them in Flash, it will reduce file size.
Use this on-line tool to check web page performance:
    http://websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/
Another minor problem is that you're using XHTML strict doc type but you've got some mismatched code in your home page.  Use the validator and fix reported errors:
    HTML Validator - http://validator.w3.org
    Good luck with your site.

  • Video recorded in landscape only plays in portrait mode on HD tv

I recently obtained iphone 5s. I've recorded several videos with the phone, in landscape mode. When I try to play the videos connected to my tv via HDMI A/V cable the videos will only play back in portrait mode (quality is distorted and horrible).
Same goes for the videos recorded in landscape mode on my old 4s (which prior to IOS 7 would play back in proper mode).
Phone is not locked in portrait mode.
Video will play on phone in landscape mode...just won't play in landscape on the TV.
Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any assistance!
    D.

I had the same exact problem.  Some of my landscape videos would get squashed into a portrait size view on the TV.
What I did as a workaround was to hold the phone in portrait mode, play the landscape video, and if it didn't fill the screen correctly, I would swipe the video as if I was going to another video/photo, but without lifting my thumb/finger, swipe it back so that it returns to the original position.
What happens is that the video on the TV screen should resize into a smaller landscape image (with the circle play button in the middle of the image).  Then usually when I hit the play button again, it will play properly in landscape mode and, more or less, fill the screen properly.
I find it odd that so few others have faced this issue.

  • Red record button and play arrow not working for videos. Any way to make work again?

Red record button and play arrow quit working. Any way to fix?

Try this and see if it works for you. Close the Camera App in the recents tray and reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once, then double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the camera app.  Tap the home button again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Make a random swf play on my html website

I am looking for a way to have a random swf play on the index
page of my website. I have five products I want to showcase and
have built five different swf files, one for each. I would now like
some code that would randomly load one of the 5 files into the
page, so anyime some one visits the site there will most likely be
a different swf playing. Also, is there a better way to do this.
    Thanks

I found this tutorial on Google. If you use Flash, maybe this
    will help
    you.

Or, you could use an array and a random rotator JavaScript.

When recording a Video demo slide in Captivate 8, pressing the [END] key takes more than a minute to stop the recording. Why is there such a lag? Additionally, the software I record experiences terrible lag times. For instance, It may take 15 seconds to display a 2-digit number I typed into a blank field. the same software has no lag issues when I'm not recording it.

Yes and no. The CPTX file is on my PC. Our software that I'm making the demo of is on the network. but I'm not the "IT Guy" so I can't provide specifics; however, I work at a computer software company and we probably have more servers than employees. The network hardware is kept current. I've been making similar tutorials for 10 years and haven't run into this issue until switching to the subscription Captivate.
